The jungle adventure programme, which first aired in February, has yet to be approved for a second series despite several meetings. Netflix bosses are believed to be keen to bring the show back but only if significant budget cuts can be made. The reality competition series, hosted by Willoughby, 44, and survival expert Bear Grylls, 50, was filmed in the Costa Rican jungle. The show featured 12 celebrities being hunted down by Grylls in challenging wilderness conditions. Despite being well-received by viewers and critics alike, the programme's future now hangs in the balance due to its substantial production costs. Netflix executives were pleased with the show's performance, but are now exploring cost-cutting measures. According to sources, if the show is to return, both Willoughby and Grylls are likely to face pay cuts. Holly Willoughby and Bear Grylls front the new Netflix show A cheaper filming location is also being sought to replace the expensive Costa Rican jungle setting. "As to location, think Clacton or Croatia, not Costa Rica," a source told The Sun. The show will also need to feature fewer expensive celebrity participants to make a second series financially viable. "If it is recommissioned, cuts will 100 per cent be made and this could include talent salaries -- both Holly and Bear as well as the celebs," the insider revealed. "All measures are being explored." The budget reductions are being considered essential despite the show's critical success and positive audience reception. Holly Willoughby and Bear Grylls' new show is facing budget cuts to survive Netflix has not yet officially commented on the future of the programme. GB News has contacted Bear Team representatives at Netflix for comment. The first series featured an impressive lineup of celebrities, including Spice Girl Mel B, model Lottie Moss, rugby player Danny Cipriani, and tennis legend Boris Becker. Other participants included Big Zuu, Joe Thomas, Kola Bokinni, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, Leomie Anderson, Shirley Ballas, Steph McGovern, and Una Healy. There was high drama during filming when interior designer Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen became tangled in ropes while rafting. He lost consciousness and had to be revived on the beach by Grylls. Holly Willoughby recently was left with no ITV projects after Dancing on Ice's axe "It got excellent reviews and was a brilliant production. Bosses were happy with its performance," a source said of the show. "Yet if it is recommissioned, cuts will 100 per cent be made and this could include talent salaries -- both Holly and Bear as well as the celebs." Celebrity Bear Hunt marked a significant shift in Willoughby's television career, being her first major role with Netflix. The show came after her departure from ITV's This Morning in October 2023, where she had been a presenter for more than 14 years. Holly now appears to be taking her TV career in a new direction as she is now without an ITV show following Dancing On Ice's axing She recently dashed ITV's hopes that she would be their Saturday night star by turning down a lucrative deal to front game show You Bet! ITV sources told the Mail she was 'busy with other commitments' after Holly branched out to host Celebrity Bear Hunt in her first big role away from ITV. It is the first time that Holly has not had an ITV show on her schedule for the first time in more than two decades after becoming the broadcaster's TV darling. She has long been a familiar face on both ITV and ITV2, hosting on shows including Surprise Surprise, Celebrity Juice, The Games, The Xtra Factor and I'm A Celebrity. Holly is arguably best known for having fronted This Morning alongside Phillip Schofield from 2009 until 2023, while she also helmed Dancing On Ice from 2006. However, ITV viewers now won't be able to get a dose of Holly as there has not yet been any public news of her having signed on to another project with the channel. In a huge blow to ITV, Holly then turned down a lucrative deal to front a new series of the classic game show You Bet! because of her other commitments. A source told the Mail: 'You Bet was so popular with the viewers wished it came back for two shows that ITV bosses decided to give it a full run. 'Holly and Stephen are a great double act and they were both brilliant so they were asked back. 'But Holly politely declined, she has other commitments and couldn't make it work. 'She is in demand and now she isn't shackled to This Morning four days a week, she is able to look at more options, some are global. 'Celebrity Bear Hunt was a huge thing for her, her first role with Netflix and she just loved it and they loved her so there could very well be much more where that came from. During his trial at Chelmsford crown court the jury heard that Plumb had previous convictions for attempted kidnap and false imprisonment he tried to force two female airline workers off trains in separate incidents in 2006 and he attempted to tie up two teenage girls in a Woolworths stock room in 2008 He was found guilty last week of three charges: soliciting murder encouraging or assisting the commission of kidnap and encouraging or assisting the commission of rape Willoughby wished for her victim personal statement to be private Photograph: Ken McKay/ITV/ShutterstockDuring the sentencing hearing who did not attend any of the court proceedings wished for her victim personal statement to be private but said it set out the “catastrophic impact of these offences” Morgan added: “The impact of this offending has been life-changing for the victim of these offences – both in private and personal terms – private Mr Justice Murray said: “There is no doubt that if you had genuinely found one or more accomplices who were seriously interested in and had been willing to join you in carrying your plan through then you would have put this plan into action.” The judge sentenced the defendant to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 16 years it leaves 15 years and 85 days remaining on the minimum term you pursued an unhealthy sexual obsession with Holly Willoughby that led you ultimately to plan over that period to kidnap You intended to harm her husband and her children as part of your plan “You had previously been convicted of terrifying offences involving the threat of sexual violence against four different young women “The jury saw through your various lies that you told at the trial Willoughby stepped down from her role as presenter of ITV’s This Morning six days after Plumb was arrested on 4 October 2023 She returned to screens as the co-host of Dancing on Ice this year Plumb had bought cable ties and a folding knife He had also engaged in graphic and sexually motivated discussions about it online He was unaware that one of the people with whom he was communicating was an undercover officer based in Owatonna police department in Minnesota Plumb, of Harlow, Essex gathered information about Willoughby on social media and followed her activities and movements He identified where she lived in December 2021 and shared images of her home with someone online referred to as “Marc” who the court heard was thought to live in Ireland and had boasted of being convicted of stalking Plumb shared images of Willoughby’s address and discussed “a home invasion” while wearing masks and he discussed the layout of the property He also discussed identifying “abandoned places” outside London trying to get on a tour of the ITV studios and using his training as a security officer to get employment with Willoughby The jury was played a voice note Plumb sent in which he explained his “plan of action” which included picking “outfits of hers that we like” was monitoring conversations in a group called “Abduct lovers” and boasted about her security arrangements The detailed nature of the messages concerned the officer who reported him to the Metropolitan police via the FBI he told police officers: “I’m not gonna lie Essex police’s senior investigating officer said: “This case has brought violence against women and girls and misogyny to the fore have much to do to stamp out this scourge on our society It cannot be right that men like Gavin Plumb are able to join online forums where they vent their hatred towards women and girls and plot to harm them.” The first stage of Willoughby Grounds the Lower North Shore development by joint venture partners First Quadrant Properties and Qualtias Two of the five buildings that make up the mini masterplan will welcome residents in the coming months three and four-bedroom apartments have been families and downsizers A key attraction for families is the dedicated children’s playground within the common area fostering a community atmosphere where neighbours can connect while children have a safe space to play “When designing Willoughby Grounds, we wanted to create a place that enhances both liveability and community,” says Adam Reeves, Director of Sales and Marketing at First Quadrant Properties “The inclusion of larger residences and shared green spaces makes this an attractive option for families who want the best of both worlds – more space and an outstanding location.” Comprising five distinct buildings, each with its own architectural identity, Willoughby Grounds draws inspiration from the area’s industrial past. The first stage, featuring apartments in the Halstrom and Fleming buildings, reflects Willoughby’s 19th-century tanneries “People want to feel connected to their community and this development is designed to foster that sense of belonging,”  Reeves added “Unlike high-rise developments, Willoughby Grounds offers a more intimate living experience with most apartments designed to maximise natural light and ventilation.” The project’s location provides easy access to local parks It is also well connected to transport links with the Metro Train Station and city bus services nearby “The kids’ playground and the spacious layouts will be a real drawcard for families looking for an alternative to standalone homes in the area,” says Tim Abbott Director of Projects and Developments at Ray White “With so many amenities nearby and lower strata fees, Willoughby Grounds offers both practicality and lifestyle benefits.” Designed by Mo Chehelbani from Architecture Urbaneia with interiors by acclaimed architects and interior designers DKO the residences integrate multi-layered architecture with lush green spaces and concrete framing harmonises with the landscape enhanced by jacaranda trees that are synonymous with the lower North Shore The project is being constructed by DASCO one of the highest-rated builders in NSW with a 4.5 Gold Star iCIRT Rating comprising the Lawson’ and Walter buildings Registrations of interest for the two new buildings are now being taken We're on a mission to radically improve the quality of Urban communities being developed across Australia We aim to showcase every development in Australia to help you find the perfect new home we couldn't find that page";var n=e.querySelector("h2");return n&&n.remove(),{staticContent:e,title:t}},d=function(e){var t=document.createElement("button");return t.innerText=e,t.classList.add("error-page-button"),t},f=function(e){var t=document.createElement("div");t.id="recirculation-404",t.classList.add("brand-hint-bg");var n="\n \n \n Stories from court and the latest breaking crime news sent right to your inbox Thank you for subscribing! We have more newsletters A TV documentary airing tonight on channel 5 is set to reveal the harrowing kidnap and murder plot hatched by Essex security guard Gavin Plumb against presenter Holly Willoughby a source has indicated that the TV star and mother-of-three is determined not to let the documentary's rehashing of her ordeal cause further distress Plumb was sentenced in July last year for his plans to abduct and kill Willoughby with the TV personality subsequently speaking out about the "tough" period she endured following the incident The new Channel 5 documentary - The Plot To Kill Holly Willoughby - is scheduled to air tonight at 9pm, delving into some of the details of Plumb's intended attack on the Dancing on Ice host is keen to leave the ordeal in the past and concentrate on her own wellbeing and that of her family The source said: "She's a very strong woman and she wants to get on with her life and move on In an ideal world it would be something that's never spoken about again but Holly knows that's not going to happen She's haunted by the past but she won't be retraumatised by it." The synopsis of the documentary reads: "When Holly learned of the plan just hours before she was due to go on air With little choice but to put her glittering career on hold she withdrew from public life while the police built their case against Plumb." It adds: "Could Plumb's disgusting plan ever have come to pass morbidly obese and incapable of walking even short distances Yet he spent years looking for an accomplice to help turn his obsession into a reality guilty of nothing more than a warped imagination?" Plumb had dedicated years to meticulously studying the life of the ex-This Morning presenter and accumulated items for a kidnap kit Plumb was convicted on charges of soliciting murder He received a life sentence with a minimum of 15 years and 85 days before parole could even be considered despite waiving her right to anonymity and being in control of that aspect cannot manage the public's response to the television programme He expressed: "It may open up different stories in the public and there may be a response to it but I would hope that it's part of her healing It can be difficult watching a re-enaction of a trauma because that can be a bit like reliving it but actually sometimes that can be a kind of exposure therapy." He added: "The more we're able to expose ourselves to it and develop resilience to it I would hope Holly has done her own therapy and trauma work The insider close to Holly told The Mirror: ""It's probably hard to imagine that two years ago she was presenting one of the biggest morning TV shows she'll still have her eyes on the prize and she'll be focusing on what she wants Get the top stories from across London directly to your inbox. But Phillip went over her head to bosses in protestation leaving her 'incandescent with rage' Then there was the fallout from ‘Queuegate’ where Holly, Phil and their boss Martin Frizell were escorted to the media platform in Westminster Hall It can be said that the public never quite looked at them in the same way and Holly took on the brunt of the scandal Then came the high-profile fallout over lingering questions around Phillip’s paedophile brother and the revelations surrounding his affair with the younger male colleague By this point of Holly’s own ‘Annus Horribilis’, people were openly questioning if the show – and Holly by extension – could even survive the summer A somewhat ironic choice given this was the country where she and Phil used to spend years of summers together ITV’s strategy around This Morning was similar to the way it built GMB around Susanna Reid after Piers Morgan’s departure Despite a huge musical number in the Wood Crescent courtyard producers struggled to recreate that ‘magic’ that Holly mentioned in her dramatic on-air statement Although ITV wanted to prove the show was bigger than just one star the ghost of the scandals and Phillip’s career loomed large over the set Producers struggled to recreate that ‘magic’ that Holly mentioned She came straight over to me as I gathered material for my TalkRadio segment with Petrie Hosken – another former This Morning contributor and I asked her about the future what the future holds I don’t think any of us yet know … But I think it’s like taking it one day as it comes." I was later told by a number of sources that she was actually advised not to talk to any reporters that night, yet here she seemingly wanted to prove her show would continue, emitting the same optimism that the runner suggested all those years ago Despite losing the daytime award to The Repair Shop, it was all systems go until the day she disappeared from screens under a shroud of mystery There was once a time where barely a day went by where Holly didn’t appear somewhere on the telly. Plumb’s plot may well have been that life-changing moment that made Holly reevaluate what truly matters She’s been seen only sparingly on our screens and this may well continue following the Dancing On Ice axe and her exit from You Bet As the Channel 5 documentary showed in gruesome detail, Gavin Plumb’s plot was absolutely frightening in both scope and intent His videos showing off the murder kit made up of rope, handcuffs, shackles, a ball gag, and bottles of chloroform were just sickening to watch What the future holds I don’t think any of us yet know … But I think it’s like taking it one day as it comes." When we filmed the documentary, the director emphasised to me how sensitive we had to be in our approach It’s clear the effect the plot would have had on Holly could not be overstated This documentary showed that being a celebrity may come with privileges but fame brings vulnerabilities and in this case You can stream The Plot To Kill Holly Willoughby back on 5 Willoughby Symphony Orchestra opens its 2025 campaign with Beethoven's 'Triple' North Sydney’s Willoughby Symphony Orchestra (WSO) has revealed its 2025 season its long-serving Chief Conductor and Artistic Director the orchestra will deliver concerts throughout the year encompassing a range of classical masterpieces film score presentations and the WSO’s beloved festive programs The announcement comes on the heels of a record-breaking year for the WSO which recorded a 212% increase in subscription sales from 2023 The season opens on 22 – 23 February with Beethoven’s ‘Triple’ Concerto with the WSO and the award-winning Estivo Trio joining forces to bring this masterpiece to life The ‘Triple’ is known for its intricate interplay between soloists and orchestra creating a rich tapestry of sound that is both challenging and rewarding for the performers and the audience it is an ideal showcase for the Estivo Trio’s founding players: violinist Fox Chan cellist Jonathan Békés and pianist Ying Ho Sarah Penicka-Smith conducts a program that includes works by.. Essex Police's Detective Chief Inspector Greg Wood said: "He tried to claim throughout the trial that he was an obsessive fan and a fantasist – that is simply not true. "He planned this attack on Ms Willoughby over a two-year period, scoping her movements, seeking to elicit help from others to carry out his wicked plan, buying chloroform and other items to incapacitate, restrain and inflict violence upon her. "He is no fantasist - he’s a calculated, violent, sexual predator who has spent his adult life inflicting or plotting to inflict harm on women."
