Windsor Park have announced their 2025 stallion fees - Leading European 2YO and Champion 3YO AUGUSTE RODIN, the latest addition to their stallion roster, is oversubscribed at an introductory fee of $30,000+gst. A six-time Group One winner, including at two, AUGUSTE RODIN trained on to become a Champion 3YO, winning both the English and Irish Derby’s. His quadrella of Group One victories at three also included Weight-For-Age wins against older horses in the Irish Champion Stakes and Breeders’ Cup Turf to become the only 3YO in history to secure these four championship Group One races in his classic year. Following his record-breaking classic season AUGUSTE RODIN added the Group One Royal Ascot Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at four to his spectacular CV. Hailing from the final crop of 11-time Champion Sire and global influence DEEP IMPACT, AUGUSTE RODIN’s female line is no less esteemed with his first three dams all being Group One performers at less than a mile. Like AUGUSTE RODIN, fellow Ballydoyle superstar PADDINGTON will shuttle to Windsor Park Stud again from Coolmore, Ireland for his second Southern Hemisphere season. PADDINGTON proved an instant hit with breeders in 2024 covering a full book with in excess 100 mares being tested in foal. The brilliant miling son of SIYOUNI and four-times Gr.1 winner is again oversubscribed at an unchanged fee of $35,000+gst. Windsor Park’s highly successful sire SHAMEXPRESS has enjoyed a breakout season in 2025 with his Hong Kong-based son KA YING RISING, the world’s highest ranked sprinter leading the way. The brilliant KA YING RISING has swept all before him in the dominion with a raft of world-class winning performances including three at the elite Group One level. As well, SHAMEXPRESS’ tally of stakes winners this season has been bolstered by Group winning racemares Grinzinger Belle and Blue Sky At Night together with the success of leading Singaporean stakes winner Lims Saltoro. Accordingly, SHAMEXPRESS will stand in 2025 for a fee of $20,000+gst. Commencing his third season at Windsor Park is the very popular PROFONDO, a handsome, Gr.1 winning son of DEEP IMPACT and Redoute’s Choice’s precocious 2YO Group winning daughter Honesty Prevails. A $1.9 million sales-topping yearling, PROFONDO has proved extremely popular with breeders serving in excess of 350 mares in his first two seasons at stud. PROFONDO has an impressive first crop of foals to represent him and will stand again for a fee of $17,500+gst in 2025. The same fee of $17,500+gst applies to Champion Miler CIRCUS MAXIMUS who will record his fifth season at Windsor Park in 2025. With a 2YO Group One performer already in his first, 2024, European crop and with his first Australasian 2YO’s impressing at both the trials and on raceday, the signs are ominous for this dual Royal Ascot winning miler. Heading his first 2YO’S to race in Australasia are unbeaten Australian filly Ha’penny Hatch who has bagged a brace of metropolitan wins and is slated to start in Listed company this weekend while his other performers include metro-placed Rufus, Towering Vision, Miss Parker and recent debut placegetter Engine of War who are all marching towards their 3YO season in progressive form. Proven stallions VANBRUGH and TURN ME LOOSE round out Windsor Park’s 2025 stallion lineup. ENCOSTA DE LAGO’s Gr.1 winning son VANBRUGH has fashioned a successful career with an excellent stakeswinners to runners strike rate of 5.6% from limited representation. major parties have joined the campaign to try to save a beloved kindergarten facing eviction in Melbourne’s inner east but the Allan government has refused to commit to saving the centre The Windsor Community Children’s Centre, which is both a childcare centre and a kindergarten, has for years leased its premises from Swinburne University but is facing eviction after the university decided to try to rezone and sell the Crown land on which it had built the centre Emma Carter and Romi Goldshlager in the garden of Windsor Community Children’s Centre The fate of the centre has emerged as a key issue in the upcoming byelection for the state seat of Prahran left vacant after former Greens MP Sam Hibbins’ abrupt resignation from parliament at the end of last year as well as in the marginal federal seat of Macnamara With Labor opting not to field a candidate for the February 8 Prahran contest it is shaping up as a battle between Greens candidate Angelica Di Camillo and the Liberal Party’s Rachel Westaway Both were in attendance at the centre on Wednesday as were current Labor Macnamara MP Josh Burns and his Greens challenger Sonya Semmens But notably absent was a representative of the Allan government and Planning Minister Sonya Kilkenny receiving personal invitations Speaking at a press conference across town cabinet minister Melissa Horne refused to answer why the government had snubbed the event “The minister for planning has had a report [handed down] and is making a determination [on the rezoning application],” she said A group of volunteers has led a campaign to save the not-for-profit service after Swinburne filed a rezoning application in July The group of political candidates all urged the university to abandon its bid to rezone the land which would open up the sale of the public land to developers Stonnington Council pledged to look at options to purchase the land to allow the centre to continue its operation Stonnington Mayor Melina Sehr and its chief executive have written letters to Kilkenny and Blandthorn urging for funding or partnership options for the site A Stonnington spokesperson said: “An independent valuation of the site determined the value of the property at a range between $12.2 million and $13.8 million Council is unable to consider the stand-alone acquisition of the site at that valuation however is prepared to consider a tripartite funding arrangement with state and federal governments.” Macnamara MP Josh Burns laid the blame for the eviction squarely at the feet of the university “Despite reasonable offers from the City of Stonnington [to purchase the land] Swinburne’s selfishness means they will send an outstanding early education centre out of existence,” Burns said The university released a scathing response to “correct the record” on Wednesday “State government departments and the City of Stonnington were offered the opportunity to purchase the land Swinburne is required to seek rezoning of the land ahead of a sale on the open market,” the statement said “There is nothing preventing the continuation of childcare at the site under a new landlord should they wish The re-zoning that the university is seeking is required to enable the university to divest the property given it was unable to find a public buyer The new zoning being sought does not preclude the provision of childcare services being provided.” A hearing for the rezoning application was held in September by the Government Land Standing Advisory Committee The committee filed its report to the planning minister in October The Windsor Community Children’s Centre chair is pleased with the renewed attention from politicians as the centre awaits the government’s determination federal Labor and the Greens are willing to go to an event together – it’s suddenly become a hot political issue It’s catapulted us to the top of us list,” she said “We have received some engagement [from the state government] and it’s encouraging to receive recognition that the centre is important … I am disappointed there was some significant gap in responses from the important players We haven’t had a visit from [the ministers].” the Greens announced a $12 million pledge to save the centre though that would need the government to adopt the policy The Victorian Liberals promised to write a letter to Swinburne University urging it to withdraw its rezoning application Burns has toured the site twice and written letters opposing the eviction More than 650 submissions were filed to the Government Land Standing Advisory Committee ahead of the hearing – one of the largest responses in the state’s history “Please don’t close this wonderful service,” one parent wrote “It would be an unforgivable travesty to remove such a crucial resource for the community,” said a local Parent Romi Goldshlager says she will have to choose between work or the care of her child if the daycare shuts director of the daycare the thought of bulldozing the daycare’s 40 native trees logs on the ground and the tree canopy that stretched over the kids playing in the yard The Liberals ran second in Prahran at the 2022 state company last season he was well backed on his handicap debut and reappearance at Redcar two weeks ago and rewarded that support with a decisive victory He followed up under a penalty with an even better performance at Yarmouth last Thursday and he looks up to defying another penalty Sharma d’Amour showed much improvement when making a successful handicap debut at Lingfield last month and could be the one for the forecast spot boasts an eye-catching pedigree as he’s out of Group 1 winner Ribbons and is a half-brother to a smart sort in 2023 Melbourne Cup runner-up Soulcombe Scoville is in excellent hands with William Haggas and is taken to make a winning debut Vecu failed to match his juvenile form when only third on his reappearance at Chelmsford last month but he wasn’t seen to best effect there from a wide draw and he’s likely to put up a better showing here FORAGER looks on a fair mark based on the pick of her juvenile efforts notably a runner-up effort at Lingfield off this mark on her penultimate start and she will have the assistance of Tom Marquand in the saddle for the first time Forager gets the vote over The Feminine Urge who has been placed on her last couple of starts and should give another good account FLEETWATER shaped well when runner-up on her reappearance and handicap debut at Kempton last month finding only an improving rival too strong and she looks likely to go well off just a 1 lb higher mark Her record at Windsor is also a positive as she won a novice and was then runner-up under a penalty on her two previous attempts over this course and distance Distant Rumble was a comfortable winner over course and distance last week ASINARA shaped well when third on her return at Haydock last month and can take a step forward with that outing under her belt Asinara travelled well at the head of affairs in the centre group but a lack of a recent run seemed to tell late on as she was headed approaching the final furlong KINGKEERstill looked a bit rough around the edges when fourth at Salisbury on his final start last season but he remains relatively unexposed and with the potential to do better as a four-year-old He has been gelded since last seen and makes his return to action with trainer Hughie Morrison’s horses in good form so it’s worth taking a chance that this well-bred and lightly raced sort can take a step forward Golden Circet had the run of the race when scoring at Bath a couple of weeks ago HARLINGTON won at Wolverhampton in November and has largely held his form well since finishing in the frame on his six subsequent starts He has been eased 1 lb since finishing third at Bath a couple of weeks ago and has Rossa Ryan taking over in the saddle Curtiz needs to bounce back from a below-par effort at Wolverhampton last time but had been runner-up at Chelmsford prior to that and is respected on that form The latest racing odds are on PaddyPower.com now PPB Counterparty Services Ltd is licensed and from injury Windsor has been sidelined since the opening game of the season after an infection to his foot ruled him out for the following two matches and he'll integrate into full training this coming week,” said Selwyn Griffith  “He’ll look to be available for this weekend's game.”   Jake Lever (ankle) and Charlie Spargo (concussion) are also eyeing their returns after being ruled out of last Saturday’s game due to their respective injuries Lever and Spargo will both face fitness tests to tick off the final requirements to be available for Friday night’s match against Geelong “Jake just pulled up sore from our main training session last week therefore the decision was made [to remove him from the team],” Griffith said we’ll look to integrate him into main training and hopefully he is able to progress better than last week “Charlie has progressed well through his concussion protocol “His next phase is to integrate into main training and if he succeeds through that plus the additional testing with the doctors he'll be available for this weekend as well.”  Matt Jefferson will also remain as a test for this week’s match as he continues to recover from surgery following a fracture to his hand which was positive and now it's about him increasing the function of his hand,” Griffith said but we just need to see how his hand function improves We'll get a clearer picture on his availability towards the end of the week and progress him as far as his function allows.”  young Demon Xavier Lindsay was subbed off due to a knee concern but was cleared of any significant damage following scans “Imaging cleared him of any severe damage to the knee but he still has a low-grade injury to his medial ligament,” Griffith said “This week is more around progression from that he’s still quite sore and stiff following that incident “He was able to get moving today but he'll be unlikely for this week and then we'll just keep progressing him as each day goes by.”   After being sidelined for a number of weeks due to bone stress in his foot Jai Culley will make his return to football via the VFL to gain important match minutes “Jai has progressed back into full training,” Griffith said “He'll look to return to the VFL on some modified minutes this Friday but he has progressed really well in this last week.”   In exciting news for young Demons Koltyn Tholstrup (back) and Luker Kentfield (illness) both are closing in on returns after extended periods on the sidelines “We've had Koltyn and Luker both progressing through a reconditioning phase,” Griffith said “After both of them had an interrupted Christmas and January period they've had a great month and integrated back into full training last week “They're both in full training again this week with the likelihood of being available next week.”  Judd McVee is getting closer to rounding out his rehab from a hamstring injury he sustained in February during pre-season   “Judd's been integrating into some training and he's had a really positive fortnight with really good strength numbers in the gym,” Griffith said “Now we're seeing that transfer out onto the field He'll look to integrate into full training over the next week or two with availability likely in the coming weeks.”  Tom Campbell didn’t feature in the second half due to hamstring awareness but recovered well and has re-entered into his regular training schedule Shane McAdam (Achilles) and Andy Moniz-Wakefield (knee) are both continuing to complete their respective rehab programs Harvey Langford has earned the Round 3 AFL Rising Star nomination The city is going to review security measures at all city-run and city-authorized events in Windsor Ward 3 Councillor Renaldo Agostino requested during Monday's meeting that administration conduct an immediate review of the current event safety planning policies and that the report include a risk assessment process for all event spaces Agostino requested the review after an SUV drove into a crowd attending a street festival in Vancouver killing 11 people and leaving dozens injured One man has been charged with eight counts of second-degree murder Ward 3 Councillor Renaldo Agostino says most street closures involve wooden barriers to prevent vehicles from entering "The reason we use the wooden horses instead of something bigger is if an emergency vehicle needs to get through We always have to leave 16 feet of clearance and room for quick ease and someone has to be able to move that wooden horse The issue is that the wooden horse is not very safe," he says Agostino says he's helped with a number of events in his lifetime that have involved street closures "I don't want the community to think there's a threat of some type of incident But the thing I saw the most was distracted drivers getting to within a foot of our barriers," he says Agostino says he just wants to see what options are available for the types of barriers for street closures and how they can improve safety "I wouldn't be able to live with myself if someone hit a patio or mistakenly went through a barrier and hit one person Agostino asked that the report be expedited given the Just days after the first World Cup stop in Guadalajara, Mexico, 129 divers are assembling in Windsor, Canada, to contest event No. 2 of the World Aquatics Diving World Cup tour. The event, from 10-13 April, will be their last chance to qualify for next month’s World Cup Super Final at the famous Water Cube in Beijing, China. For many athletes, Windsor will be a refreshing new venue. Known as the automotive capital of Canada, Windsor is so close to another North American car-manufacturing hub (Detroit, Michigan) that fans can see Detroit across the river from the diving center. Windsor also happens to be the most southern city in Canada. And in 2016, it hosted swimming’s short course (25m) world championships. The headlines could cause whiplash; from a focus on the alternative prime minister’s past, to election date scuttle, to Chinese military vessels niggling boundaries, to Donald Trump making it clear to the people in the back where his America stands, Amy Remeikis and Bill Browne discuss the federal election campaign so far, the performance of the media, and how preferential voting actually works. Some people are worried that the next election could lead to a “hung parliament”, requiring power sharing arrangements between parties and independents. But Parliaments always involve power-sharing: between interest groups, communities and political movements; across the upper and lower houses; within parties (via factions); and between parties. She later changed into a House of CB dress Their ceremony had 20 guests, with flowers from O My Beloved and a cake from Mali Bakes Olivia and Brendan celebrated with family and friends at a garden party at home on the Sunshine Coast where they’re both from Bren and I went to high school together and were in similar social circles we didn’t reconnect until years later – it just felt right we were on a very rainy hike in Yosemite in the US and he proposed I was completely caught off guard and to this day I can’t believe he proposed to me while I was wearing a beanie… but it was perfect We then spent a good amount of time celebrating in NYC which we always look back on fondly How did you settle on the venue for your wedding We chose to elope at The Hotel Windsor in Melbourne We wanted the day to be very low-key and less about us and more about the people who came along to celebrate A big fuss isn’t really our style and I’m not a planner The thought of putting together a wedding was not appealing to me in the slightest my choice of venue was heavily influenced by my obsession with the Windsor Suite’s carpet and the vintage pink and blue hues was sent photos of the space and she crafted the most perfect floral arrangements that fit in seamlessly Our wedding day was super cosy with just 20 guests We had only immediate family and our bridal party we had a big garden party at home on the Sunshine Coast to celebrate with everyone Where was your outfit from and what was the process of sourcing it like the first was a custom mini dress from a local bridal company paired with a vintage Juliet cap veil Bren and I found at a vintage store in Brisbane My second dress was from House of CB originally and then a local seamstress re-made it to fit me My bag was made by Oana Bags in Sweden. I wanted something cute and different and also something sustainable that I would wear again. The mini bag is handmade and super sweet, I wear it all the time. My jacket was from Bübish Luxe, though I ended up stealing Bren’s jacket on the day tell us about the look you went for on the day My little sister Sophie did my makeup on the day I wanted something really natural and she did such an amazing job although looking back wish I had given myself more than 15 minutes to blow dry my hair I spent too much time browsing in bookshops in the morning and not enough time getting ready What did you do to celebrate after the ceremony We went to a bar after the ceremony for a drink and then later celebrated with an intimate dinner at a small Italian restaurant It was the perfect way to unwind and enjoy the company of our nearest and dearest we had our wedding cake which was from Mali Bakes It was red velvet with cream cheese frosting and yes The only thing I was fussy about was the photography. I knew I wanted everything shot on Super8 and 35mm film. We wanted our day captured in a way that was candid and documentary-style and I’m so glad we found Kara (@the.runaway.hearts) her style is so dreamy and aligned with my personal style so well Keep up with Olivia here The importance of solo travel when you’re in a relationship A24-style posters and an afterparty: Inside Jess and Dan’s Auckland wedding Inside a vintage-inspired Melbourne wedding with a cannoli cart and lawn bowls From office to on set: A creative director’s week in fashion marketing How model Bernad Ngendakumana constructs a look Δdocument.getElementById( "ak_js_1" ).setAttribute( "value" MG Motor is turning the wick up on its electric game After winning hearts (and parking spots) with the Windsor the carmaker is now getting ready to roll out its snazzier sibling – the Windsor PRO it comes with more of everything: more tech To be launched under the new JSW MG Motor India banner the Windsor PRO aims to ride the momentum created by the standard Windsor which has quietly become one of the highest-selling EVs in its segment MG promises serious upgrades across six fronts – Tech That could translate to features like a larger infotainment screen The outgoing Windsor’s claimed range hovered around 400 km so expect the PRO to push that envelope further the PRO is expected to carry forward the Intelligent CUV design DNA blending SUV practicality with sedan-like comfort MG might throw in a bigger battery pack with faster charging capability Rumors suggest a range closer to 450-470 km which would help it stay competitive against segment stalwarts like the Tata Nexon EV Long Range and Mahindra XUV400 EL Pro Let’s also not forget Hyundai’s Kona Electric which continues to hold its ground with a premium badge an official unveil might be just weeks away MG seems to be following the age-old mantra: “If it ain’t broke and watch it fly off the showroom floor.” That said this could very well be the version that convinces more fence-sitters to go electric—especially those who want their EV with a little extra everything let’s just hope they throw in ventilated seats Bethan joined Horse & Hound as showing editor in January 2025 after spending two years as Editor for Grandstand Media\u2019s Showing World She was born on a Pembrokeshire farm but did not inherit her father\u2019s love of cows a riding lesson at three years old sparked a passion for ponies fuelled by hours spent with her great uncle\u2019s Welsh ponies and point\u2013to-pointers Bethan and her younger sister began showing in flat Whilst they have stuck predominantly to the Welsh breeds there have been forays into the other sections and breeds They have progressed from grassroots level to wins at shows up and down the country and have each won ridden championships at the Royal Welsh Yrallt Mayday Surprise (Jim) almost made history as the first Welsh section C to take the RIHS championship but finished in reserve only to become the first and only one of his breed to win the mountain and moorland championship at HOYS later that year also boasts a win and reserve championship at HOYS Jim and Prince both stood Best of Breed at London International and enjoyed further fame when Jim was invited to meet The Queen (Elizabeth II) and Prince starred alongside Bethan and TV and radio presenter Adrian Chiles in an episode of Welsh documentary series before taking the opportunity to marry her love for horses with writing as a journalist and editor providing live coverage of Welsh equestrian events including the Royal Welsh and Royal Welsh Winter Fair and has presented the HOYS breeders awards and the SEIB British Showing World Awards With a show to perform as well as a ride judge to impress, the ridden hacks might just be one of the toughest classes to win. There are four hack classes at Royal Windsor Horse Show; the open large before first and second of each division goes head to head in a bid to secure the coveted Count Robert Orrsich Hack Championship in the Castle Arena Presiding over the ride aspect this year is Georgina Maywood Neither Georgina’s grandparents or parents were horsey but she became the proud owner of two donkeys aged seven and her first pony followed about two years later “I decided that riding a horse would be much easier,” jokes Georgina who is now a freelance riding coach and enjoys offering showing and pole clinics as well as private lessons She proceeded to take part in Pony Club activities Georgina now concentrates predominantly on cobs “I enjoy the privilege of riding beautiful horses and like to be able to give something back to the sport,” says Georgina. Georgina has officiated at Windsor before, and on that occasion, she judged the conformation aspect of the riding horses. She says: “It’s a special show and I’m very much looking forward to judging again”. With the prospect of riding some of the country’s most elegant hacks just around the corner, what will Georgina be looking for? “I will be looking for my winner to draw my eye from the moment they walk into the Copper Arena,” says Georgina, adding: “My winner will need to have a good walk, meaning they are relaxed, in self carriage and covering the ground. For me, I’d like to see this way of going continue through all three paces of the go round.” Unlike riding horses, hunters and cobs, hacks must perform an individual show with their riders, as well as being assessed from the saddle by the ride judge. Of the show component, Georgina says: “I’d like to see the horses happy, forwards, balanced and in true partnership with their riders.” Finally, once on board, Georgina says: “I will be looking for a light, mannerly ride with the horse carrying me forwards. I don’t want to be nagging them – I want the horse to enjoy their job.” Mark Fuller will be joining Georgina assessing the conformation of the animals. “With Mark’s wealth of knowledge, I’m looking forward to finding the next Windsor hack champion,” says Georgina.
