Toni Bou goes into the summer break with 177 points
as Gabriel Marcelli remains in second place with 135
The fifth round of the season was held in Comblain-au-Pont (Belgium)
and was the last before the summer break for the TrialGP World Championship
The Repsol Honda Team riders once again showed their skills
on terrain with muddy areas due to rain the previous day
Toni Bou earned the victory and teammate Gabriel Marcelli was second
Bou goes into the summer break with a healthy lead in the series
The Repsol Honda rider started the day by leading the first lap
the Montesa Cota 4RT rider remained in front
with an advantage of 11 points over his nearest rival
This win was an eighth of the campaign so far for Bou
who moves up to 177 points in the championship
Marcelli closed the first half of the season on the podium
despite the equality in points and the muddy areas
and was the man who incurred the fewest penalty points -17- to earn second place
It was his seventh podium of the season and keeps him second in the standings
The next round takes place from August 25th in Cahors (France) in where Toni Bou will have his first chance to become the 2024 TrialGP World Champion
Bou leads Marcelli by 42 points in the title chase
"Today's result is very good in general terms and we cannot ask for much more
Things are going very well for us this season
so I can only thank the team for all the work they have done to make all this possible
We head into the summer break with a very good feeling and with important points for the standings
"I'm very happy and satisfied with how the day went today in Belgium
even though I felt the pressure for the overall standings
and we finished it off with a great second lap to finish on the podium in second position
It's a good result which gives us peace of mind and extra motivation for what lies ahead
We have one race left in the Spanish Championship before the summer break
so we are looking forward to continuing in in the same way
"I'm very happy with the result for both riders today
Toni made the difference with respect to the rest of the riders
On tough areas like Zone 7 he was able to pull through
and on the second he was the rider with the fewest points
It is an important one-two for the team and this is the goal we always fight for
Thank you all for the great work you have done and in Cahors we will return stronger."
Toni Bou and Gabriel Marcelli go into the summer break with their third one-two finish of the season
Toni Bou arrives in Comblain-au-Pont (Belgium) series leader with a 39-point advantage over teammate Gabriel Marcelli
the TrialGP World Championship continues with a round in Comblain-au-Pont (Belgium)
The Repsol Honda Team riders head the standings: Toni Bou is the leader with 157 points and Gabriel Marcelli is second with 118
The current World Champion has been unstoppable coming into the event in Comblain-au-Pont
The last time the series visited the Belgian town was in the 2022 season
where Bou was the winner of the solitary race
An eighth win of the campaign for the Montesa Cota 4RT rider would increase his lead in the overall standings and bring him closer to the title
Marcelli arrives in top form for the fifth round of the 2024 season
after his podium on the second day in Germany
He was fourth the last time he competed in Belgium
In the overall standings he lies second with 118 points
and with a five-point advantage over the man in third place
The TR1 category riders will only have one day of competition
and so the technical and administrative verifications
The race itself will begin the next day at 9am
so we are motivated and want to keep doing what we have been doing so far with the team
we will see what the zones are like now that we have returned to the stop regulation
but I think a good weekend awaits us where we will give our all
Although we always take things round by round
we have our eye on the title and currently have a good cushion
so it will be important to get a good result to increase that margin."
“The terrain in Belgium is quite similar to that in Germany
This weekend I hope to be consistent during the two laps and continue with the good feeling we had in the last round
We will look to put in a good performance on Sunday and maintain second position overall in the championship
We are working day by day with the team but always have our eye on the World Championship; Jaime has got very close and we have to raise our level more to stay in the fight for second place.”
“We arrive in Belgium with very few days of rest
Toni is very strong after the two victories he got in Neunkirchen
The last time he visited this Belgian town in the 2022 season he won
Gabri has more confidence after the podium on day two in Germany
This weekend he will look to fight for the win and another rostrum
which will be important to maintain second place in the championship.”
2018 Yamaha announced today that it has developed the TY-E electric trial bike — taking advantage of the unique features of electrical power — and has been working toward competing for the first time in the 2018 FIM Trial-E Cup with scheduled appearances at the Auron in France through July 14-15
and the Comblain au Pont in Belgium through July 21-22
Kenichi Kuroyama — who is currently competing in the IA Super class of the All Japan Trial Championship — will represent the Yamaha Factory Racing Team
The TY-E will also be on display at the Yamaha Motor booth in this year’s Tokyo Motorcycle Show
being held at the Tokyo Big Sight from today
The TY-E is an advanced development deriving from the company’s “Evolving R & D” activities
The “Evolving R & D” uses 5% of its working hours at the Research and Development Division
is used as an opportunity to provide voluntary and autonomous activities for creating innovation while not being bound by conventional frameworks
It is here that we focused on a trial model for competition and worked on its development to help overcome EV development problems such as high output from small sized and lightweight components
and the ease of riding that responds as the rider would intend
This is the only FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme)-sanctioned event where electric trial machines alone can compete
This event was held for the first-time last year on June 24-25 at Lourdes in France
with Spain’s Marc Colomer taking out the winning honors
two races are scheduled; Auron in France July 14-15
and the Comblain au Pont in Belgium July 21-22
Repsol Honda Trial Team rider Toni Bou kicked off the second half of the season with yet another triumph in Belgium
Gabriel Marcelli posted a commendable fourth place on the day in an extremely evenly-matched trial
the Repsol Honda Trial Team riders were back in the thick of the action today for the TrialGP of Belgium
The single-day event was characterised by a demanding and somewhat technical course
full of slippery sections with very little grip that proved a tough test for all the riders involved
The final stretch of the season got off to the best possible start for Toni Bou
achieving a fresh victory in Belgium which sees him consolidate further his grip on the overall championship lead
the event in Comblain-au-Pont was anything but easy for Repsol Honda Trial Team’s Catalan rider
who finished the first lap of the course in second position and was forced to run risks on lap two in a bid to seal the win
The triumph ended up tipping in Tony Bou’s favour in the final three sections where he proved to be unmatchable
The Repsol Honda Trial Team rider’s win today in the tiny Belgian town marks a fifth outdoor victory of the season and a fifth TrialGP win on the spin at Comblain-au-Pont
as well as victory number 130 for Bou in the outdoor world championship
Toni Bou is the runaway championship leader on 134 points
26 points ahead of the nearest second-placed rider
The TrialGP in Belgium was also a very positive one for Gabriel Marcelli
now fully recovered from physical issues prior to the holiday break
turned out a fine performance on lap one of the course
Marcelli was able to rectify some of the errors made on the first lap
before eventually settling for fourth place after a tight battle for the third step of the podium
With the result of today’s competition
the Repsol Honda Trial Team rider remains seventh in the overall standings with a tally of 72 points
The TrialGP World Championship moves forward with the eighth date of the season to be held this coming Sunday
On the first lap we made errors in sections 3 and 11
trying not to make mistakes in order to pull back
although I made a big mistake in Section 2
I took some risks that could have been avoided which made the trial all the more tricky
stayed focused on the goal and in the end we were able to seal another win in Comblain-au-Pont
I felt at ease on the bike and I was able to fend off my rivals
even though I'm not a rider who specialises in terrain like today’s
It’s great to pick up points here and to continue to gain points on our rivals for the title
It was a bit more of an old-fashioned trial
more about riding skills and how to handle the bike
The truth is that I'm very pleased with the way I rode today
because it's a type of terrain that I’m not particularly good at
It’s true that I struggled a bit at the start of the trial
but I soon managed to change my mindset and I started riding the way I knew I should
I consider that a fourth place in such conditions is a great result and some very important points towards the championship
It’s true that we are always looking for a bit more
We are very happy with Toni’s win today in Comblain-au-Pont
Toni had a fiasco in sections 3 and zone 11 and that hampered him a lot; so much so that he finished the lap in second place
he was able to pull back to take the victory
it might seem that he won by a wide margin of points
but the truth is that the race was complicated and everything was very tight until the final sections
he managed to finish the first lap in third position and on the second lap he fought until the end to get that third podium spot
It is a pity that he made two mistakes in sections 8 and 11
as they ended up dropping him down to fourth place
he should be very proud and hold his head up high
because in this championship everything is very tight and
he must continue to fight in the three remaining trials to keep climbing positions
We hope that Toni and Gabri can get onto the podium in the next event in Cahors

GermanyJuly 13-14 (Rnd 6) Comblain-au-Pont
Next Sunday sees the seventh date of the TrialGP 2022 World Championship
holding first and seventh positions respectively in the general standings
begin the final assault with the competition still wide open
The countdown to a new world title for Toni Bou – his 31st – is underway
The fourth round of the world championship is set to take place in the Belgian town of Comblain-au-Pont this coming Sunday
After the earlier TrialGP double-date events in Spain
The course is one already familiar to Toni Bou who has won on each of the four occasions that the tiny town has hosted the world championship
Although Toni Bou lies 23 points clear of the nearest second-placed rider and 41 ahead of the third
the Repsol Honda rider will nevertheless be gunning for outright victory as he bids to seal yet another new crown to add to an already lengthy list of honours
who previously managed to make it onto the Trial2 category podium at Comblain back in 2019
This recovery should stand him in better stead to achieve a result than in previous trials
The two most recent visits to Comblain-au-Pont ended with a double podium for the Repsol Honda Trial Team with Toni Bou victorious and Fujinami occupying third place
free practice and the inspection of the sections
The 4.5-kilometre TrialGP of Belgium course will include twelve sections to be tackled over two laps
riders will have a 15-minute break before facing the second and final lap
The prize-giving ceremony for the Comblain-au-Pont event is due to take place around 15:30 on Sunday
After a great weekend in Germany before the holidays
where I was able to earn a lot of points towards the championship
we were able to enjoy a few days of calm and relaxation
which has been great before facing the final part of the world championship ahead
We will be fired up because there is still a lot of work to be done; we will attempt to be consistent
try to always make it onto the podium so as to score as many points as possible and not make mistakes
We head into this trial in Belgium with a lot of enthusiasm as it is a trial that I have always really liked
We return to the world championship after a short break this summer that went very well and that I have taken advantage of to disconnect a little and recover from some nagging injuries that had held me back in the more recent trials
We face this date in Belgium highly-motivated and are ready to give 100% once again in the field
