After eight years in the Jupiler Pro League
AS was unfortunately relegated to the 2nd division
The relegation of the professional team will lead to a significant reduction in revenue
The Aspire Zone Foundation has owned KAS Eupen for twelve years now
making it one of the longest committed owners in current Belgian professional soccer
Aspire Zone Foundation has never been driven by financial profit
which is unusual enough in professional soccer
and has invested significant sums in the work of the club over the years
not only in the professional team but also in youth development
the further development of the infrastructure and organizational structure
the implementation of a large number of social projects
Aspire Zone Foundation still plans to support KAS Eupen with a significant amount this season

Belgian side Eupen’s six-match losing streak came to an end on Saturday with American goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina shining in a shutout victory over Sporting Charleroi
Slonina made four saves to preserve his first clean sheet as a member of the top-division side as Eupen defeated Sporting Charleroi 2-0
The win moved Eupen up to 10th place in the Pro League standings as they captured their first victory since August 26
Jan Kral opened the scoring for Eupen in the 45th minute
heading home Isaac Christie-Davies’ cross before halftime
Eupen would double its lead in the 54th minute as Kevin Mohwald finished off Gary Magnee’s assist for a 2-0 lead that it wouldn’t relinquish
It marked the first goals of the season for both Kral and Mohwald while Slonina also pulled his weight in the result
Nikola Stulic and Mehdi Boukamir were both denied by the Chelsea loanee in the first half before Slonina also helped Eupen hang onto its lead
A diving save by Slonina on Youssouph Badji paired with some later help from his left post kept Eupen in front for remainder of the match
has made 10 starts since arriving on a season-loan loan from Chelsea
Up next for Slonina and Eupen is a home clash with Oostende in the Belgian Cup on October 31
and Odunze are the future of GK for the US
Probably the first choice for the Olympic team
Him.amd Brady are the future along with Odunze
“it is hard to get a good read on him until he plays behind a decent team and defense.”
Chelsea thought enough of him to spend some money
So far he looks like he’s doing okay for a 19 year old keeper but that ‘s it
He’s not some phenom like Donnaruma who was Milan’s starter at age 18
“is a good example where it’s a nightly task and if you’re inconsistent that’s a problem.”
Brad was 31 in 2015 and already on the downside of his career after having a stellar run in England with Aston Villa
He was named their player of the year for the 2012- 13 season for basically almost single handedly saving them from relegation
But he stayed too long and was shell shocked and ruined by that swiss cheese shooting gallery that was the Villa defense
He went from being very good to being inconsistent
A better cautionary tale for Slonina would be Zach
it is hard to get a good read on him until he plays behind a decent team and defense
in belgium he has a GAA >2 and this is his first shutout
chicago was also poor and he was GAA ~ 1.5
he has promise and can be an incredible shot stopper but guzan (in the nets for the depressing GC 15
the first 2 qualifiers in the final round of 2018 qualifying we lost) is a good example where it’s a nightly task and if you’re inconsistent that’s a problem

Gabriel Slonina earned his first taste of life as a European goalkeeper with Chelsea’s Under-21 squad last season
but now will reportedly be on the move to earn consistent playing time on loan
Belgian Pro League side Eupen is set to acquire Slonina for the 2023-24 season, CBS Sports reported Friday
Slonina’s loan deal will run through the upcoming season
but isn’t expected to include a purchase option
The 19-year-old Slonina joined Chelsea from the Chicago Fire in 2022 and made eight appearances in the Premier League 2 Division last season
Slonina registered three clean sheets for Chelsea’s U-21 squad
After coming through the Chicago Fire academy
Slonina made 43 first-team appearances in MLS
He registered 13 clean sheets and conceded 61 goals over that span before making the move to England
whom he featured with during the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina
He was also eligible for the Poland national team
but made his senior debut with the USMNT in a 2-1 friendly loss to Serbia in January
finishing 15th in the Pro League on 28 points
Former France international Claude Makelele joined Belgian side Eupen as their head coach in November 2017. Philippe Crochet - Getty ImagesFormer Chelsea and Real Madrid man Claude Makelele steered Eupen to safety after an incredible last-day finale in Belgium's top flight
who worked as assistant coach to Carlo Ancelotti and Laurent Blanc at Paris Saint-Germain
was appointed in November with the mission of saving Eupen from relegation to Belgium's second tier
Bottom of the table ahead of the final game
Eupen knew they needed to win against Mouscron by one more goal than rivals Mechelen
who started the day +1 better off in terms of goal difference
Eupen's superior goals scored tally meant they would stay up if points and goal difference were equal
All hope for Makelele's men appeared to have evaporated with Mechelen leading 2-0 before the hour mark and Eupen goalless at the same stage in their encounter
That meant Eupen needed to find the net three times to stay up
but incredibly they struck four in the final 17 minutes -- including a hat trick for Japanese forward Yuta Toyokawa -- to condemn Mechelen to the drop
The nightmare turnaround in fortunes for Mechelen led their French forward Nicolas Verdier
who finished third from bottom of the table but had already secured top flight survival before kick-off
"From what I have heard, Mouscron did not respect the Jupiler Pro League. It's a lack of professionalism and a lack of respect that tarnishes the image of the club," he told Proximus 11
"We were leading 2-0 and Eupen score four in 20 minutes ..
I hope there will be an analysis of incidents in the game and that decisions will be taken."
Belgian media reported prior to kick-off that the company charged with installing VAR for the game in Eupen had brought the wrong cables
Eupen will now contest the playoffs featuring the clubs that finished seventh to 15th in the 16-team league
and could qualify for next season's UEFA Europa League if successful
On Matchday 24 of the Challenger Pro League
KAS Eupen suffered a disappointing defeat against La Louvière
Despite the support of around 100 euphoric
costumed fans who turned Carnival Friday into a colorful spectacle
Mersad Selimbegović’s team was unable to build on their recent performances and had to return home empty-handed
The match started with an early chance for KAS Eupen in the 6th minute
the home team created their first dangerous opportunity
La Louvière capitalized on a situation that may have been offside to take a 1-0 lead
but a header from Gorenc in the 15th minute was saved by the opposing goalkeeper
Although KAS Eupen showed effort in the first half
The Pandas rarely posed a real threat in front of goal and struggled to create significant chances
but the game remained largely controlled by the hosts
when Van Genechten won the ball and passed to Déom
ended in a missed opportunity as Philip Ejike failed to control the ball
KAS Eupen continued to lack precision and attacking efficiency
bringing on Wedingo and Hendrickx to add fresh energy and new tactical options
Eupen struggled to create clear-cut chances
La Louvière remained dangerous and continued to put pressure on Eupen
but their attacks lacked accuracy and effectiveness
A shot against the post in the 83rd minute and another strike hitting the woodwork in the 87th minute were not enough to turn the game around
KAS Eupen was unable to replicate their performances from recent weeks
The team not only lacked precision in finishing but also the necessary attacking presence
The Pandas struggled to create goal-scoring opportunities and failed to show the required decisiveness in crucial moments
was the more dangerous side and punished Eupen’s weaknesses
the Pandas must bounce back and take advantage of their next opportunity
Final Score: 0-2 in favor of La Louvière
Defender Aleksandr Filin is leaving KAS Eupen
he has asked KAS Eupen to terminate his contract
KAS Eupen has complied with this request due to the special personal circumstances with regard to the armed conflict between Ukraine and Russia
Aleksandr Filin moved from KV Khimki to KAS Eupen in January 2023
He has played 27 matches for the Pandas in the Jupiler Pro League
KAS Eupen thanks Aleksandr Filin for his commitment in the club’s jersey and wishes him all the best for his future career
Gaga Slonina is going to get a chance to get some playing time. Today, Chelsea FC announced that the 19-year-old goalkeeper will go to Belgian side KAS Eupen on loan for the season
Slonina had yet to feature for Chelsea in official action, but was part of the team during their summer preseason tour in the United States. He started their preseason match against Fulham FC. He also made his USMNT debut earlier this year when he started the January Camp match against Serbia
who is currently 4th in the Belgian Pro League after 2 matches
Slonina hopes to earn plenty of playing time to continue his development
He also looks to use that development and playing time to continue to earn call-ups to the USMNT
Slonina’s young age allows him to factor prominently into the future of the team and perhaps competing to be the backup for country
which means that he could set himself up to either return to Chelsea after the season or find another club that will take him on a permanent transfer

Saint-Gobain announced its intention to close its Eupen plant
The union organized a series of protests in a bid to bring attention to the destiny of workers
some of whom have worked for 20 to 40 years at the plant
the union tried to negotiate with local management any posssibilities of safeguarding the jobs or at least finding a buyer for the plant
the union believes that the company has no intention of saving the workers’ jobs
a senior representative of CSC Bâtiment-Industrie-Energie at Saint-Gobain Eupen
expressed that despite a serious buyer requesting company information
The union feels that management did not treat this matter with the necessary urgency during the meeting
The union is planning an action in Paris on 8 March to further expose Eupen workers’ rights for jobs and a possible meeting with the senior Saint-Gobain leadership
Following the announcement IndustriALL wrote to the company in November expressing strong opposition regarding the decision to close the plant
which would seriously affect the livelihood of workers and their families
In December last year delegates of the global union network
Saint-Gobain representing company workers worldwide
paid close attention to the company's failed strategies and the desperate need to find a buyer for the Eupen site
The network members expressed strong solidarity with Eupen workers
In a recent letter to Saint-Gobain management
stressed that negotiations be done and that a feasible solution be found:
“It is imperative that the headquarter’s management and the management responsible for the Benelux region contact the unions
including the CSC Bâtiment- Industrie-Energie
and with the commitment from Saint-Gobain to act socially responsibly throughout its operations
to find a viable and fair solution for the Eupen plant workers.”
