at the end of stage 7 and his very first pro race with the Liquigas-Doimo WorldTour team
Viviani became a winner for the first time
A decade and a half later, he recalled the moment after winning again at the same event fifteen years on, taking victory on stage 7 of the 2025 race
"It was a chaotic final because the lead-out train of André Greipel crashed in the last corner
one guy attacked and I followed him," the Italian said
Ninety victories and an Olympic title for omnium later, he’s back as a winner, just ahead of another peloton veteran, Alexander Kristoff
The Norwegian has confirmed that this year will be his last
but 36-year-old Viviani doesn’t rule out the option of racing also in 2026 – "Especially if I get close to 100 wins but I don’t get them this year," he said
“I was without a team this winter, it was not normal for me”, he noted as his three-year contract with Ineos Grenadiers came to an end and wasn’t extended
I always said I wanted to do one more year
maybe two if I’m still competitive and today I showed that I am
Firstly I have to thank Lotto and the manager Stéphane Heulot for giving me this chance
There were only one-day races on my programme and I told the team I really needed a stage race to get into the rhythm
"They proposed the Tour of Turkey and I have a very special feeling with this race
riders are treated well with nice hotels and nice places on the seaside
Viviani was often named as a potential coach for the Italian cycling federation as a new cycle was started after the re-election of president Cordiano Dagnoni
but he isn't thinking about his post-race career yet
otherwise you wouldn’t see me here on a bike," he said
doing the sacrifices you have to make as a pro rider
It’s even harder for a sprinter if you don’t win races
the body doesn’t respond anymore like when I was 20
But I still enjoy being a pro cyclist very much."
Before Saturday, the Italian's last victory was stage 1 of the Tour of Guangxi in China in October 2023
quite far from his golden year when he took 18 wins for QuickStep Floors in 2018
including four stages at the Giro d’Italia and three at the Vuelta a España
Viviani is well aware that he's in a different phase of his career now
“I joined Lotto because they’re really young and they need some references in the team and I’m here also to win races," he said
we burn a lot of young riders because there aren’t steps anymore
They jumped to the pro ranks and they pretend to be winners and leaders
I still believe there are some special guys
they turn pro very young and they win Tour de France and all the biggest races in the world… But unluckily
"The biggest part of the peloton still needs to grow step by step
This is what I want the young riders to know
My message to them is: don’t miss some steps
do some smaller races as well and once you’ll know your value
it’ll be time to do everything at perfection to win races."
Perhaps the words of a coach in the making
The close to $300 million expansion will include a manufacturing facility and a carbon net-zero emissions warehouse in Lessines
The firm announced its biggest investment to date in Belgium during the 50th anniversary celebration at its manufacturing facility in Lessines and according to Takeda
the investment signals the importance of Belgium as a location for the worldwide production and distribution of plasma-derived therapies
“Takeda is building on an 80+ year pioneering legacy in producing plasma-derived therapies
The global patient needs for these therapies
has increased significantly over the last 20 years
and continues to grow,” said Giles Platford
president plasma-derived therapies at Takeda
“The projects announced today will enable us to potentially help tens of thousands more people who have no – or very few – treatment alternatives
This investment reinforces Takeda’s leadership in plasma and our commitment to patients with life-threatening and life-changing conditions.”
plasma-derived therapies are typically used to treat individuals with rare and chronic diseases like immunodeficiencies
the company claims the Lessines plant can treat over 300,000 patients a year and specializes in packaging capabilities for a range of plasma treatments and purification and filling of plasma-derived therapies
A spokesperson for Takeda told BioProcess Insider that it will not necessarily hire new employees
but the expansion does require “new skill-sets [and] therefore we will need to up-skill our employees. The new purification line will replace an older line we have at the site and who will gradually be decommissioned.”
“The facility building will be watertight by end 2023
but we will have to wait for all the necessary tests and approvals to start full time production
It will be up and running for production by end of 2026,” the spokesperson said
Takeda says that part of the investment is to do with its global effort to use technologies in sustainable ways at its manufacturing facilities
this site has been transforming human plasma into life-saving and life-sustaining medicines,” said Thomas Wozniewski
global manufacturing and supply office at Takeda
“Our Lessines site is an important part of our global manufacturing network
The significant investment in Lessines announced today will strengthen the digitalization of our manufacturing sites where innovation plays a key role in creating a sustainable production environment
The new state-of-the art production facility will have an even higher output capacity and will be even more data and digital driven
we pay additional attention to minimize its environmental footprint at the site: thanks to a high-tech water recycling system we will be able to reduce the freshwater consumption by 90 percent by 2023
and the facility will be 100 percent self-sufficient in electricity.”

H-E-B allege $9.5 million payment to withhold generic version of Dexilant
Several retailers have filed a lawsuit against two overseas pharmaceutical manufacturers
alleging that they conspired to stall the release of a generic version of a popular drug
The antitrust lawsuit was filed last week by Kroger
alleging that Japan-based Takeda Pharmaceuticals and Taiwan-based TWi Pharmaceuticals agreed to a “reverse payment” scheme in which Takeda paid TWi not to release a generic version of Dexilant
featuring the active ingredient dexlansoprazole
market since 2009 and has generated “billions of dollars” in revenues
TWi was one of three companies that had sought to introduce generic versions of Dexilant
but judges had previously ruled that these companies’ proposed alternatives violated some of Takeda’s patents
The suit alleges that TWi essentially resolved its patent dispute with Takeda and could have introduced a generic version of Dexilant in June of 2020
but it agreed to withhold the drug until January of 2022 in exchange for $9.5 million in cash and a deal that gave TWi what amounted to a monopoly on the generic version
The retailers claim that they had to pay more for the branded drug when a generic version should have become available
and then only had one generic version to choose from when that became available in 2022
Related:As Illinois cuts grocery tax, 105 of its cities approve their own
The suit, filed in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, also references similar payment schemes that Takeda is alleged to have engaged in concerning its drugs Amitiza and Colcrys. A separate lawsuit concerning the Amitiza allegations is ongoing, and Takeda recently settled the suit concerning Colcrys.
The plaintiffs in the Dexilant are seeking reimbursement for the overcharges they claim to have paid for the branded version of Dexilant, in addition to legal costs and additional penalties determined by the court.
A spokesperson in the U.S. office of Takeda declined to comment, and TWi could not be reached for comment.

2014 at 1:49 pm PT.css-79elbk{position:relative;}The producer of the Brad Pitt film “Fury” will have to face trial on employment allegations brought against him and his wife by a former nanny
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mary Strobel denied a motion by attorneys for Anton and Carole Lessine to dismiss the lawsuit brought by Tessa Wetherbee
negligent misrepresentation and failure to provide meal and rest breaks
Anton Lessine is the son of former Kremlin media czar Mikhail Lesin
attorneys for the Lessines stated that the couple did not willfully fail to pay Wetherbee owed wages; that she was not harassed because of her ancestry; and that she was fired because her work performance and relationship with her bosses declined over time
Strobel did dismiss a separate allegation of retaliation and also removed Valley Island Productions Inc
Companies associated with Lesin’s immediate family purchased three properties in the Los Angeles area. These include a 13,000-square-foot Beverly Hills home purchased in August 2011 for $13.8 million by Dastel Coroporation
The other two homes were in Beverly Hills and Brentwood
She alleges that despite giving exemplary care to the couple’s children after she was hired in September 2011
she was denied overtime as well as meal and rest breaks and also did not get paid fully for the amount of time worked
She alleges she was fired in December 2012 for reporting to Child Protective Services that Carole Lessine had allegedly abused one of her two daughters and for demanding to be paid what was owed to her for her work
Carole Lessine held one of her daughter’s arms so tight it left a mark
Lessine said that maybe (her daughter) fell on her iPad,” Wetherbee stated
Lessine said this with no visible emotion.”
Wetherbee claims she was often told to work more than 40 hours a week because there was no one else in the home to care for the Lessines’ children
The nanny accumulated nearly 240 hours of overtime
Anton Lessine “screamed at Wetherbee that he was already paying her too much
that he paid her more than his (epithet) lawyer and that he did not want her demanding more money,” the suit alleges
Anton Lessine repeatedly said Americans were “stupid” and were “puritans,” and the couple told Wetherbee “to be sure to not expose their children to the Bible,” according to the lawsuit
Anton Lessine and his wife are of Russian and Swiss descent
Trial of Wetherbee’s suit is scheduled March 3
Anton Lessine also produced the Arnold Schwarzenegger film “Sabotage” as well as “Fading Gigolo,” which starred Woody Allen and Sharon Stone

Having survived the rigours of the First World War
soldiers faced the return to civilian life
The Seventh Dragoon Guards made one of the last charges of the First World War at 10.30am on 11 November 1918
galloping forward and capturing the bridge at Lessines in the Picardy region of Belgium
Fighting officially ended at 11am on the same day
the Fifth Dragoon Guards’ official war diary described the celebration as the regiment prepared for a ‘triumphal march into Germany’
While the official diary could easily be written in a celebratory tone
this was not necessarily representative of the feelings that other diaries captured
The war diary of the First West Yorkshire Regiment
wrote that ‘the news was taken very quietly’
newspapers celebrated and reported that women and children were on the streets flying flags
but news of peace was often met by serving troops with quiet reflection and thanksgiving
it becomes apparent that reactions to the Armistice have changed to fit in with distinct attitudes towards the war and the years that followed it

René Magritte
is remembered today on the 125th anniversary of his birth as one of the foremost figures in the surrealist movement
Known for his enigmatic and thought-provoking works
Magritte has left an indelible mark on both the Belgian and international art scenes
In honour of his birthday, the City of Brussels launched a celebratory art trail this year
Large installations around the city pay homage to the painter's oeuvre
including eight murals by renowned artist Julien de Casabianca between Place De Brouckère and Place Royale
The installations are on display until 30 November and the murals until 7 January
The trail starts at Place De Brouckère and runs along Rue au Beurre
Rue Infante Isabelle and Mont des Arts to Place Royale
Aside from celebrating one of Belgium's most iconic artists
the city also chose to highlight the Magritte Museum
"The Magritte museum is one of the best-known museums in Brussels and attracts 300,000 people a year: it is an asset for this city," said Brussels mayor Philippe Close
Magritte's distinctive style often featured ordinary objects placed in unexpected contexts
challenging conventional perceptions and inviting viewers to reconsider reality
Among his most iconic works is The Treachery of Images (1929)
featuring a pipe with the caption "Ceci n'est pas une pipe" ("This is not a pipe")
prompting contemplation on the relationship between representation and reality
one of Belgium's most internationally renowned painters
played a pivotal role in shaping the surrealist movement alongside countryman Paul Delvaux
Magritte's influence reverberates through modern and contemporary art
with his ability to blend intellect with artistic expression garnering universal acclaim
His legacy endures through exhibitions in major art institutions worldwide

Intergalactic Lovers have taken a deep breath over the past few years and blown out Exhale
a vivacious record on which the guitars have been tightened up and Lara Chedraoui’s voice is as enchanting as ever
The idea of filling the video with references to Magritte only came later
but we have now penetrated his playful questioning of reality more deeply
He would have been a great friend of the Lovers.” “We are not complete surrealists,” bassist Raf De Mey nods
“but we do see something of ourselves in the humour with which Magritte looked at the world.”
it was something we had practiced in making this record,” Chedraoui explains
“Taking a leap without overthinking things
but trusting that whatever we do is the right choice
“I honestly did not know that when I wrote the song,” Chedraoui says
but I was thinking about the darkness that you can never completely let go
Sometimes it hangs over your head and then it crushes you
and those are the moments when you think: I have everything under control
Actually that was an outfit that I pinched from Raf’s wardrobe,” the singer confesses
Elodie Ouedraogo and Olivia Borlée’s clothing line
but I think I am better at dealing with my rage and frustration in words
and that’s why I wanted a special outfit: it’s my time to shine!”
“I can sometimes be very sad and angry about what’s going on in the world,” she says
“And then the two historians in the band tell me that it has never been good
[Laughs] The problem is that everything gets documented and communicated
People were sometimes thrown off towers in the Middle Ages
but the videos didn’t go viral on Facebook.”
That is the big difference: while Little Heavy Burdens
now they are looking at the world around them in which “we see many people short-circuiting,” De Mey says
“It is crazy how fast you get steamrollered by everything these days,” Chedraoui says
Sometimes I hear myself talk and I sound as though I am 80
[Laughs] Just think about all the stimuli that get thrown at you when you walk down the street
When I’m stuck on an overcrowded train with hundreds of people
“Inhaling and exhaling seems really easy,” Chedraoui says when we ask about the album’s title
you start to hyperventilate and it becomes difficult to find your breath
I see a lot of people who have great difficulty with exactly that: breathing freely.”
