the cofounder and design director of creative studio Sceners
and created sculptures out of found objects
But Haddad had no official training in interior design when a friend
asked if he’d be interested in renovating a family property near Antwerp
Haddad admitted he lacked professional credentials but was confident he could pull it off
designed fashion shows and fixed up an old building for a pop-up gallery
Zeevi’s family took a chance and offered Sceners the job
The multigenerational clan breeds horses and had recently bought a 40-acre equestrian facility
with poorly maintained stables and living quarters
and his family hoped to restore it and create comfortable accommodations for themselves
“The clients were looking for a chaletlike feel
a place where they could do these professional activities
but still feel at home and experience the daily stable life,” Haddad says
He got a taste of it himself: The job required him to stay on-site for a year to manage the project
It may be one reason why he got hired: “They knew I was young and that it would be an amazing opportunity for me,” Haddad wagers
“I could be this guy on-site doing everything.”
and their collection of tribal art and mid-century furniture
“We had a maximalist home that combined Senufo masks
and a Serpentine sofa by Vladimir Kagan,” he explains
“Having pieces from different periods and places creates a kind of harmony.” His style resonated with Zeevi’s family
who lived in Africa for a decade and appreciates its indigenous cultures
“We knew Jonathan’s vision and trusted his point of view,” Zeevi says
“We mostly gave him a free hand.” Haddad’s challenge was to pair sophisticated interiors with a working stable
He began by researching similar complexes nearby but found most too conservative for his taste
a fabled equestrian estate in Mexico City that Luis Barragán completed in 1968
showed what a more abstract approach could look like
“Barragán got me thinking outside the box,” Haddad notes
While he wasn’t going to create anything so colorful or modern
Barragán’s stables made him consider how to heighten the connection with nature
such as landscaping the property and incorporating organic elements in the interiors
the 43,000-square-foot compound comprises a mid 20th–century brick stable and a 2012 building by Architectenbureau Kristel Caes that incorporates an indoor training arena and a two-story private residence
Haddad started with improvements like reinforcing and sanding the terra-cotta bricks
and installing window shutters and new stalls in the stable
he opened up the relationship between the horse facilities and living areas
replacing walls with windows; a dining room
“I created transparency so the sport didn’t feel like a professional activity
but something desirable that anyone could do,” Haddad says
(He himself learned how to ride during his stay.)
bringing historic elements into the living quarters of the newer building
He turned a grinder once used for milling horse food into the base of a low table
Aluminum from a stable door became the legs of a coffee table
hangs as abstract artwork in the living room
Other custom pieces are made with wood from the surroundings
such as a chandelier composed of branches that Haddad cut down
and fashioned into a sculptural pendant fixture
His firm Sceners not only designs these pieces but also fabricates them
and operates as a vintage furniture dealer
While the home relates to its rural context
Haddad scoured secondhand stores and flea markets in the region to source an array of mid-century designer furnishings
Marcel Breuer chairs face a chaise by Le Corbusier and Charlotte Perriand
An Ingo Maurer chandelier meets Shin and Tomoko Azumi sofas and Charles and Ray Eames chairs in the living room
and Senufo masks and sculptures populate other rooms throughout
the result creates a Zenlike feeling well suited to the quiet setting
We took a bit of a risk on Jonathan at the beginning
but he did an unbelievable job.” The family has even signed up Sceners to design an extension to the stable with four more bedrooms
It seems safe to bet that Haddad will have no shortage of ideas

In 1971, Jean-Pierre Monseré, wearing the rainbow jersey of world road champion, died while racing in the Grote Jaarmarktprijs in Retie, Belgium
Many cite this as one of the most tragic examples of the so-called “curse of the rainbow jersey,” but his death was only part of the sad story
The Belgian had won the worlds in 1970 in Leicester
It made him the second-youngest road world champion at the time
would would be abrpubly halted in March of 1971 when a motorist drove on to the course and collided with him
His teammates screamed for help as they gazed at his lifeless body clad in the rainbow jersey
Chris Sidwells wrote a book about the terrible incident, called “The Prodigy, Jean-Pierre Monseré.” In the book
Monseré was second to his great friend and kindred spirit
One more kermesse in the little village of Retie
Monseré had wanted to race at Retie because it was the place where he had taken his first victory wearing the rainbow jersey the previous autumn
It was a sentimental thought which somehow encapsulates the west Flandrian’s generous nature
his rainbow jersey was plain for the large crowd to see

This wasn’t the first tragedy to befall the Monseré family
His father had died in 1970 during the party for his son winning the rainbow jersey
His father was apparently unable to drink alcohol as it would exacerbate his heart condiiton
However in the celebrations of his son’s win
But the sad story of Monseré doesn’t end there
left behind a son named Giovanni who was two at the time
the legendary Belgian Freddy Maertens had given him a replica rainbow jersey and a Flandria bike to ride
just 5 years after the death of his father
Giovanni would be riding on his special bike
And the jersey which was a tribute to his father
His young son would suffer the same fate as his father
He was killed in a collision with a motorist

Soudal Quick-Step Devo Team celebrated another success on home soil.
Senne Hulsmans scored his second victory of the season, after another hectic bunch sprint. Just like in Herenthout, two months ago, the 19-year-old was the fastest at the end of the GP Jean-Pierre Monseré. Held Wednesday afternoon, the race had a 70km opening part before the peloton entered on a local circuit, which they had to cover ten times.
There, despite the numerous attacks that came, the bunch was as one going into the last kilometer, where Senne Hulsmans unleashed a huge sprint that saw him take the win by a couple of bike lengths ahead of his countrymen, Pieter Van Laer (RB Zelfbouw) and Rutger Wouters (Team Thielemans-De Hauwere).
“It feels great to come out on top here. For me, this is one of the most beautiful kermesses of the year, and after riding it last season, I really wanted to be at the start again. I came here after a strong outing in Desselgem and I’m delighted that I had the legs to bring it home for the squad”, said Senne after notching up Soudal Quick-Step Devo Team’s 27th victory of the year.

Picture by Kate HealyRibbons tied to the fence of St Patrick's Cathedral to show support for victims of clergy abuse have been cut down less than 24 hours after they were put up
a significant amount of the coloured ribbons have been deliberately cut
with some of the ribbons left laying in the cathedral's garden beds
Loud Fence vice-chair Mark O'Brien said he saw a man cutting the ribbons down at about 3pm on Saturday afternoon
showing a friend and fellow survivor of clergy abuse the ribbon display
Another ribbon cut at St Patrick's Cathedral
Picture by Kate Healy"I spoke to the person who was doing it (the cutting)
but he was unable to talk to me in a rational manner
We certainly hope that he is travelling okay
We extend our thoughts and hope that he is alright."
Mr O'Brien was joined by Father Ed Moloney and Loud Fence chair Karen Monument to clean-up the site
Yesterday's tying of the ribbons was a historic step forward for recognition of clergy abuse in Ballarat
with the idea brought forward by the parish council to survivors
Mr O'Brien said he was disappointed to see parts of the display now vandalised
I thought yesterday was a wonderful step forward
But there are always comments from people who disagree," Mr O'Brien said
He invited anybody opposed to tying the ribbons to the fence to get in touch with Loud Fence for a discussion
If people want to talk about why they don't want it
Listening to the stories also involves listening to stuff that we might not necessarily agree with at the start," Mr O'Brien said
Loud Fence chair Karen Monument and Ballarat Bishop Paul Bird place ribbons on the fence of St Patrick's Cathedral. Picture by Kate HealyIn 2021 a man used a knife to cut off ribbons at the fence
claiming he was protecting the fence from being damaged by the ribbons
Although their initial removal in March caused disquiet among onlooking survivors, the parish, under the Diocese of Ballarat, promised to work with survivors to erect a permanent memorial recognising abuse
Gary Scully, a survivor of abuse at St Alipius Primary School in Ballarat East was among those putting the ribbons back on the fence on Saturday
people who didn't make it or survivors that we lost from short suicide or long suicide," Mr Scully said
to bring it to the forefront so that everyone can understand and acknowledge that this happened and how to stop it
how we can protect the community - our most vulnerable
Picture by Kate HealyThe ribbon tying event was opened with a joint speech by Loud Fence chair Karen Monument and Ballarat Bishop Paul Bird
Ms Monument emphasised the importance of the ribbons as symbol of the continuing way survivors were facing their trauma and grief
the ribbons were an outcry to the atrocities that occurred and to the lives lost
This is a core value of what the ribbons represent," Ms Monument said
A place to offer support and many other things."
A sea of ribbons has returned to the St Patrick's Cathedral fence
Picture by Kate HealyBishop Bird said meetings with Loud Fence and other survivors had been constructive
with the groups finding "a number of points in common"
"Partly it is looking back with some sadness on what happened
but also being committed to doing our best now," Bishop Bird said
Meetings between the two will continue after the return of the ribbons
as they look to build a permanent memorial at the site
Bishop Bird said what the memorial would look like was still in the early stages of discussion
"It is not easy to find a common view of what is going to represent things best
I think we are able to have a fairly broad discussion," Bishop Bird said
"I hope people see them as a recognition and a message of support for those who have suffered abuse
and a sign of commitment to care for one another now."
Messages and stories were written on some of the ribbons tied on the fence by survivors
Picture by Kate HealyMr O'Brien said the decision to return the ribbons to the fence came from the parish
"Today has been an exciting day and a very emotional day that I don't think 12 months ago we would ever be at," Mr O'Brien said on Saturday
He hoped people seeing the ribbons would think of it as a community statement on child abuse
"I would like them to see it not just as the cathedral and the loud fence
but a community statement of support for survivors of child sexual abuse
and sexual abuse in general," Mr O'Brien said
"Also to offer that sort of prompting to continue discussions to make sure that people are aware and vigilant about preventing abuse occurring for others."

Royal, sustainable, and wild. Studio Jan Vermeulen in collaboration with Tom Thys architects developed a master plan for the main entrance landscape infrastructure and designed a new visitor center that replaces the outdated existing buildings of Prinsenpark. Prinsenpark is a landscape park in the Kempen Nord of Antwerp.
© Jeroen VerrechtA succession of large rooms and smaller in-between spaces allows for varied use in which different spaces can contain different activities. The large window and door openings connect the information desk, the reception area, and the education room with the offices, the staff canteen, and the central yard, and make the operational activities of Prinsenpark visible to the visitors.
© Jeroen VerrechtA balanced ecosystem. In various ways, the project focuses on integrated sustainability. The large roof overhang of the visitor center not only creates a social space for visitors but also serves as passive sun protection for the large spaces along its main facade. The construction assembly methods of various building elements allow for easy disassembly, reuse, or recycling. In that respect, the building acts as a sustainable materials bank for the future.
© Jeroen VerrechtThe visitor center also meets the passive house standard. Water management is used as an educational element and connects the project and the landscape in a new ecosystem. The existing channels and ditches were adapted into wadis to create a water and infiltration landscape where new fauna and flora can flourish. As such the site’s biodiversity receives a new impulse.
© Jeroen VerrechtRainwater is collected in tanks and ponds via long V-shaped gutters and spouts before overflowing into the system of natural landscaped retention areas
The trajectory of the water is visible to the visitor
The wastewater is filtered and purified by an independent system before being returned as clean water to the landscape
Various housing options have been integrated into the facade of the workshops to accommodate the local bat population
The building contributes to the values and vision of Prinsenpark as an area where nature
and recreation are interwoven into a special and balanced ecosystem

There have always been many reasons why spending the extra money on fluorocarbon leader was well worth it, but it’s a fact that many anglers had to stop and ponder the cost/benefit ratio. Now, Seaguar has developed Inshore
an economical leader material that offers more benefits than just cost savings; but that is a huge benefit
Inshore fluorocarbon is still made from 100% custom Seaguar resins with the focus being placed on abrasion resistance and increased knot strength while still offering the low-visibility factor underwater.
Fishing structure is the key to success in so many inshore fisheries. Dock pilings
patch reef crevices are all fish-magnets but share the common risk of line-parting heartbreak when hooked up. The abrasion resistance of Seaguar’s new Inshore fluoro was designed to endure this punishment while still getting more bites than regular monofilament leaders.
All of these fisheries are known to burn up a bunch of leader material as you retie time and time again after doing battle. This is where the value of Inshore leader really shines.
“Even if you land a fish and he does not nick your leader against the structure
the wear from a fish’s mouth can smoke your leader white in front of the hook,” says Capt
Florida. “You need to cut this portion out and retie your leader because even if it doesn’t weaken your leader strength
the smoked portion of the leader is now more visible and can tip off a wary snook or mangrove snapper. Because of this and the other nicks and frays
we burn up a lot of leader material.
“It’s a perfect match for Inshore because it is sold in 100-yard spools at a very economical price. It really is the best of both worlds; the benefits of low visibility without the hesitation of higher cost
I can use 25# and 30# Inshore around the mangrove shorelines for snook and reds and then bump up to 40# or 50# on shallow reefs
and wrecks for mangrove snapper and other wary bottom fish,” said Capt
and 80#. This will cover almost all inshore fishing situations from juvenile tarpon to jumbos and all the exciting species in between
Check out the Seaguar website to check it out

that’s how we’re looking at it as Days of Our Lives’ Xander and Sarah walk down the aisle for the third time today
this is only their second marriage as their last attempt to tied the knot was thrown into chaos with Fiona’s arrival
there’s no dramatic last minute upheaval or grand secrets revealed
There’s just Xander and Sarah tying the knot and pledging to spend the rest of their lives together
Linsey Godfrey and Paul Telfer had some things to say along those lines when they spoke with Soaps.com a few weeks back
Xander’s always been endgame for [Sarah],” Godfrey shared
“even though Xander’s been with other women multiple times
Sarah did it on a moral standing and not on feelings for Xander
she’s more comfortable being in the gray.”
That’s definitely good to hear for “Xarah” fans
And when asked if this was it for Xander and Sarah
“I’ll just say that I’ve always tried to play every romance
every relationship that I’m given on the show as if it might be my last,” Telfer shared
we are still together and operating as if this is our one true love
Take note of that last part, especially with how far ahead Days of Our Lives shoots. We know things are about to get heavy with Fiona in town
but Xander and Sarah aren’t just going to crumble under the pressure
“I would love for Xander and Sarah to continue to be a solid unit,” Telfer continued
“and become one of the happier couples that are allowed to be happy
And let external conflict be the thing that they are challenged by as opposed to internal conflict between the two.”
“We very much just want to be like an old married couple that gets into capers,” Godfrey laughed
“A super couple that gets into capers for other people
“Breaking into Tamara’s apartment
I want to break into Tamara [Braun]’s house
not Ava’s.” The two broke into laughter
“Hide all her vegan cookbooks.”
“I’ll take her dog and leave my dog,” Godfrey laughed
Well that would be one heck of a fourth-wall-breaking Days of Our Lives twist
though we have seen them do some sleuthing and going on capers before
it sounds like Sarah’s more willing to get her hands dirty now
even as Xander’s more determined to walk the straight and narrow
Xander and Sarah feel more mature and more put together
and also it’s just different this time
This is the first time Sarah and Xander have been together where there isn’t a lie at the heart of the relationship; either he’s lying or she’s lying.”
it sounds like “Xarah” are finally at a point in their lives where they can meet the challenges together head on
Revisit all the couple has been through in our Xander and Sarah photo gallery below.

“The failure of the knot happens in a matter of seconds
and is catastrophic,” scientists reported in the journal Proceedings of the Royal Society A
The researchers meant “catastrophic” in a technical sense of complete
or total collapse — once the loosening begins
But while the cost of a straggling shoelace is rarely higher than a scraped knee or the time it takes to bend down and retie a bow
sometimes the consequences can be devastating
Lace-related accidents dot local media around the world: the van driver who killed a motorcyclist when his shoestring — wound tight around the accelerator — prevented him from lifting his foot off the gas; the boy whose leg got pulled into the gears of an escalator; the cyclist who went head-over-handlebars into traffic
Millions of shoelaces surely come unfurled every day
and yet the mechanics of that process had never been thoroughly examined
a trio of mechanical engineers at the University of California at Berkeley filmed a knot — on the shoe of a researcher running on a treadmill — coming undone in extreme slow motion
The images suggested a two-pronged attack on the knot’s integrity
your foot strikes the ground at seven times the force of gravity,” stretching and relaxing the knot
And then — as the knot relaxes — the legs swings into motion
“A double whammy of stomping and whipping forces acts like an invisible hand
loosening the knot and then tugging on the free ends of your laces until the whole thing unravels,” the researchers explained in a statement
Follow-up tests with a mechanical foot-and-leg showed that some laces were better than others
Of the two most commonly used knots to tie shoes
one is “weak” and the other “strong,” the study found
The strong version is based on a square knot
while the so-called “false” knot twists when tightened rather than lying flat
“We were able to show that the weak knot will always fail and the strong knot will fail at a certain time scale,” said professor Oliver O-Reilly
“But we still do not understand why there’s a fundamental mechanical difference,” he added
leaving another knotty mystery to be solved

I was taken to a secondary screening room to be given a full pat down and was asked to remove my turban to be further scanned," Pannu was quoted as saying by NBC.com
"I refused at first but when they threatened me that I could not fly
provided they gave me a mirror to retie my turban," he added
Agent Hernandez asked the dreaded asinine question
'Is there anything we need to be aware of before you remove your turban?' I politely answered that there is a lot of long hair and something called the brain underneath."
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) declines to comment on the specifics of any individual passenger's screening experience

When additional screening requires the removal of religious apparel
