Stoffels Tomaten is taking over the greenhouses of Baanheidehof from Beerse
where peppers will be grown for the time being
the tomato grower in Rijkevorsel is having its oldest greenhouse demolished and new construction will follow
Commercial director Max Verheijen: "We are proud to be able to do this
We are growing due to more sales and more demand for our high-quality tomatoes."
BaanheidehofPeppers are grown at Baanheidehof in Beerse
At May Lambrechts and Jos Oostvogels' company
the next generation is also active with daughter Tinne Oostvogels
Tinne joins the Stoffels Tomatoes team and May and Jos also remain involved
"We had been looking to expand our greenhouses for some time," says Max
finds that expanding with new construction is difficult
"That's why we started looking at alternatives."
Upgrade older greenhouseThe tomato grower now chooses to grow with existing businesses
and where necessary to bring older greenhouses "up to date with an upgrade"
cultivation was still on the ground in an older
which we will also equip with LED lighting
the existing exposed areas will be upgraded to 300 micromol LED."
Due to the demolition of the greenhouse in Rijkevorsel
Stoffels Tomaten is temporarily giving up some acreage
Because of cooperation with contract growers
which now includes a grower in the Netherlands
and its own greenhouses in other locations

Toma'Gusto backThe expansion realized by Stoffels Tomaten is possible due to growth in sales
"We see that demand for our beautiful product is increasing
There are new partnerships and new sales lines
we focus on the specialties and do not grow regular vine tomatoes
Our specialties include Toma'Dor mini cherry vine tomatoes
The specialty specialist carries several of its own brands
2025 will be the year of building activity for the grower
but also the return of one of the tastiest branded tomatoes
no suitable variety with resistance was temporarily available
"The Toma'Gusto is a big tomato with the flavor of a small one
When ToBRFV emerged it became extra difficult
but we now have another variety with resistance
Toma'Gusto will at least be back in the shops in Belgium from week 15."Toma'Gusto

35-year-old Imran Nawaz from Rijkevorsel (Antwerp Province) was elected as Mister Gay Belgium 2024
The secondary school teacher succeeds Maarten Truijen
Another secondary school teacher Tim Lengeler (35) from Asse (Flemish Brabant) came second
Architect Jonathan Tilburghs (34) from Antwerp was third
Over 90 men applied for the title of Mister Gay Belgium 2024
12 finalists were selected who over the past few months followed an intensive programme of workshops
They were then allowed to campaign on a theme of their choice
During a 3-hour show at PLAY Zuid in Antwerp on Saturday night
the participants had to show the best of themselves
There were musical acts and there was room for art with a message
Antwerp mayor Bart De Wever announced the winner
Imran Nawaz was handed the Mister Gay 2004 sash by Mayor De Wever
‘I’m glad that at least somebody can start their reign,’ the former formateur joked
Imran Nawaz is originally from Hasselt but now lives in Rijkevorsel(Antwerp)
He teaches history and religion at secondary school
His campaign centred on the theme of ‘Lgbtqi+ and religion’
Partly from his own experience and his cultural background
he experienced how difficult it can be to connect Lgbtqi+ and religion
He now wants to make it easier to discuss the topic
Nawaz also wants to engage in dialogue with various spiritual leaders and to build bridges between different faith communities
He is hoping to meet Pope Francis in person during his visit to Belgium in September
This was the tenth time already that the Mister Gay Belgium organisation went in search of a man with charisma
an ambassador and role model for the lgbtqi+ community
Organiser Bram Bierkens stresses the importance of the pageant
‘The fight for Lgbtqi+ rights is far from over
people still risk imprisonment or even the death penalty because of their homosexuality
rights that have been acquired are being curtailed
We must remain vigilant and continue to oppose these injustices.’
