The renovation and rebranding of the <a href="https://www.doosanbobcat.com/en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Doosan Bobcat Belgium</a> facility in Sint-Niklaas
The office area has been completely renovated
modernised and furnished in the characteristic Bobcat house style
have been equipped with new lifting bridges and an overhead crane
The renovation and refurbishment of the buildings at Europapark-Noord in Sint-Niklaas involved an investment of two million euros

Doosan Bobcat Belgium – formerly Doosan Industrial Vehicle – started selling forklifts on the European mainland from Belgium in 1993
the company moved to a warehouse and distribution centre for forklifts
warehouse equipment and spare parts in Sint-Niklaas
HR and sales &amp; marketing also moved to the company premises
the branch was expanded with a new building in 2014
it was decided to extend the lease of the location for nine years and to carry out a major renovation and modernisation of the buildings
As a result of the takeover of Doosan Industrial Vehicle in 2021
the site and buildings have also been furnished in the characteristic Bobcat house style
has been completely renovated and adapted in line with the other European Bobcat locations in Dobris in the Czech Republic
Pontchateau in France and Halle in Germany
The space was converted into an open office to improve mutual cooperation
The renovation took into account the increase in the number of days for working from home
The office space therefore now largely consists of flexible workstations for both employees and guests and a lot of meeting space
modern and ergonomically responsible office furniture and equipment were purchased
Also important was the modernisation of the workshops
Pre-delivery inspections are carried out there
meet European requirements and customer specifications
The workshops were equipped with an overhead crane and new lifting bridges
so that the forklifts delivered in Sint-Niklaas can be adapted to the wishes and specifications of the customers
The location will also play a role in solving technical problems and warranty cases
a bicycle shed and charging points for electric bicycles and cars were created for the employees
“We are not only celebrating the opening of this fantastic new facility,” said Gary Hornbacher
during the official opening of the new office building
“but also the integration of the material handling division into Bobcat
which means an important addition to our portfolio of compact machines
The completion and delivery of the renovated buildings is the start of a new chapter for our material handling team
We have the ambition to further expand these activities and the location in Sint-Niklaas will play an important role in this.”

taking a fourth victory of the season to go along with 10 other podiums
with Lars van der Haar (Baloise Glowi) using two final laps to close the gap
but could not close down the last 25 seconds
Michael Vanthourenhout (Pauwels Sauzen-Cibel Clementines) held off Toon Aerts (Deschacht-Hens-FSP) for third
Vandeputte completed all seven rounds of Exact Cross
and never finished outside the top 5 across the series.&nbsp;

She battled for all five laps against Sara Casasola (Crelan-Corendon) and made her winning pass in the signature sand section just before the finish line of Waaslandcross
leaving the Italian with four seconds back in second place
Crelan-Corendon pitted two riders against Brand
with Casasola's teammate Inge van der Heijden fading late in the contest and taking third
with time to spare to the Belgian chasers Julie Brouwers (Charles Li&eacute;geois Roastery CX) in fourth and Marion Norbert Riberolle (Crelan-Corendon) in fifth
The seventh round of the regional series was held in northern Belgium on a cold
bright sunshine bouncing off the wide Waasland sand sections along the lake
who competed in only two rounds of Exact Cross
won Saturday's contest for a fourth time in her career
now tied Sanne Cant with the most victories at the event

SINT-NIKLAAS, Belgium — In this town named after Saint Nicholas, Yuletide cheer is being clouded by controversy over the good saint's helpers.
Across Belgium and the Netherlands, celebrations in which Saint Nicholas rolls into town surrounded by a host of ''Black Petes'' have come under increasing pressure year by year from complaints about racism. Pete is usually played by a white person who paints his face pitch black, dons a frizzy wig and gives himself bright red lips — stereotypes that disappeared from most countries decades ago.
On Saturday, police detained several anti-Black Pete protesters as Saint Nicholas arrived in the historic Dutch city of Gouda in a nationally televised event. Thousands of children and their parents lined the streets and gathered at a central market square to catch a glimpse of the saint known in the Netherlands as Sinterklaas.
Police spokeswoman Yvette Verboon said the protesters were detained because they were in the center of Gouda and not at two locations that had been set aside for protesters well away from the festivities.
The Belgian town of Sint-Niklaas with a church and statue honoring the saint has long been one of the focal points of the celebrations. A grand entrance this Sunday is expected to bring tens of thousands of children flocking to the ''home of the saint.'' Yet even in this bastion of saintly tradition, questions are starting to be asked about Black Pete.
Wouter Van Bellingen remembers how, as a black child growing up in mostly white Sint-Niklaas, he used to be taunted with chants of: ''Look, there goes Black Pete.''
''Kids can be hard when it comes to that,'' said the former Sint-Niklaas alderman and current director of the region's Minorities Forum. ''I retorted with, 'There goes White Pete.' I always had my answer.''
Around this time of year, Saint Nicholas visits hundreds of villages in Belgium and Holland, arriving by steamer or on his white horse to the delight of shrieking children across the two countries. The Black Petes do everything from carrying presents to throwing sweets at the children and generally prancing about until Saint Nicholas day on Dec. 6.
The Dutch cheese capital of Gouda came up with a strategy for reconciliation as Saint Nicholas arrived Saturday. Black Petes walked side-by-side with yellow-colored ''Cheese Petes,'' a nod to the city's most famous products but also a concession to critics of Black Pete. In another sign of changing times, the daily Dutch children's television report on Saint Nicholas' travels also featured White Petes on Thursday night.
Black Pete has evolved over the years. A quarter century ago, Black Pete was a scary character, carrying a big bag to hold naughty children and a whip to punish the disobedient. Promoting him in recent years as a happy-go-lucky sidekick full of quirky madness has helped him to compete in popularity with Saint Nicholas himself.
''The last few years, Pete is at least as popular. Kids cling to him, ask him questions, hold his hand,'' said Raf Rumes, the secretary of the Flanders Saint Nicholas Guild.
In another new touch, almost half of the Petes greeting children in this town's Saint Nicholas ''mansion'' — a yearly holiday attraction — are played by women. At the fun house, which reopened this week for a monthlong run, children squealed as female Petes showed them Saint Nicholas' dining room and sleeping quarters for all of the Petes.
But efforts at softening Pete's image have failed to subdue bad blood between the pro- and anti-Black Pete camps in the Netherlands, where resentments over immigration have simmered for years. Liberals want to abolish the tradition, while the right-wing firebrand Geert Wilders and his anti-immigration Freedom Party have proposed legislation that would keep Pete black — by law.
''There is a war underway against Black Pete,'' said Martin Bosma, the party's culture spokesman. ''Ministers and mayors are working to give this loyal helper another color. That must not happen. Our culture should not be damaged from on high. This law must protect Black Pete.''
Last year, more than 2 million people endorsed a Facebook petition to keep Black Petes' image unchanged. That's nearly one-eighth of the entire Dutch population, indicating the depth of emotion over the issue.
But Van Bellingen insists democracy is not about numbers alone.
''It is about the will of the majority and the rights of the minority,'' he said. ''As a majority you have to be sensitive and show empathy for things that are hurtful to a minority.''
He says it's time to get rid of Black Pete.

With 42 murals around the city, Sint-Niklaas has been building up its open-air gallery for over ten years. Belgian artists like ROA and Dzia have contributed their largescale works and there is also a wall poem contributed by novelist Tom Lanoye.
The updated street art map is in the same format as the walking and cycling map, allowing visitors to stop and admire murals on their path. It will be continually updated as more artwork is added during the year.

Babysitter Dave De Kock said to have led police to where he is suspected of dumping the body of Dean Verberckmoes
</a>The body of a four-year-old Belgian boy has been found in the Netherlands after he was abducted by his babysitter
who it emerged has a previous conviction for abuse that led to the death of a two-year-old child
at the back of a car park near a theme park on an artificial island off the Dutch Zeeland coast on Sunday night
The discovery followed the arrest and questioning of Dave De Kock
who had been due to return the boy to his grandmother last Thursday
De Kock had been arrested at 2.15pm on Sunday after reports from residents in Gorinchem
It has been reported that De Kock was initially unable to answer questions but later led detectives to where he is suspected of dumping Dean’s body
who was described as a “cuddly uncle” to Dean
had regularly looked after the boy for his mother
Verberckmoes told Belgian media outlets that she had trusted De Kock entirely and had no idea that he had been convicted in 2008 and sentenced to 10 years in prison for “inhumane acts resulting in the death” of two-year-old Miguel Van Kriekinge
De Kock’s prison sentence ended in December 2018
Verberckmoes said: “Dave would take care of my son
They get along very well and Dean considers him something of a cuddly uncle
There was no indication that he had other plans this time.”
Dean’s last words to his mother before being taken were: “Goodbye mum
The boy was last been seen by Verberckmoes on Wednesday when De Kock dropped her off at a hospital in Sint-Niklaas
where she was staying for scheduled treatment
De Kock then drove the boy to his house in Kerkstraat in Sint-Gillis-Waas where he lived with his girlfriend
De Kock told the boy’s grandmother that Dean wanted to stay an extra night with him
De Kock maintained contact via text messages with Dean’s mother but communication appears to have ended on Saturday
said legislation allowing judges to order the surveillance of offenders after prison had been enacted too late to apply to him
De Kock’s previous conviction had seen him befriend his victim’s mother
whom he had lived with for four weeks before her son’s death
A court heard from psychiatric experts that De Kock would react in a “sadistic way” when he was upset
In explanation of the fatal injuries to Verbeek’s child
De Kock had said he had played “brutal games” with the boy while under the influence of drugs

World champion overcomes last-lap crash to out-sprint Van Alphen
Sanne Cant claimed her first victory of the 2019-2020 season in Sint-Niklaas, winning the DVV Trofee Waaslandcross.&nbsp;The world champion overcame a last-lap crash to out-sprint Dutch rider Aniek van Alphen.
Cant was on strong form, making the selection early in the race with Van Alphen the only rider able to hold onto her surge.
It looked as if the Dutch rider would challenge Cant thanks to her ability to bunny-hop the barriers and a second obstacle, but midway through the race she slid out on a descent and Cant seized the opportunity to attack.
Cant came into the penultimate lap with a large gap, but Van Alphen made a strong push to get back on terms.
Van Alphen opened up the lead by hopping the barriers, but Cant fought back only to side out on a muddy transition. Fortunately her mistake forced Van Alphen off her bike and the pair went into the final sand section together.
"After my fall, I wanted to go past Van Alphen again, but that didn't work. Then I focused on the sprint. Whoever was fastest to clip in after the sand section would win."
"I didn't get into my pedal with my right foot, so I had to sprint with one leg but luckily I could get it."

Three ringleaders of the gang have been brought before a Juvenile Magistrate
The offences allegedly took place in and around Sint-Niklaas railway station and in Sint-Niklaas city centre
The gang was mainly involved in steaming a form of extortion in which the victim is threatened

Most of the gang’s victims were other young people
A total of 19 youngsters were arrested and questioned
