New figures from the Belgian statistics agency StatBel show that both Tervuren and Kraainem feature in the Top 10 of Belgian municipalities with the highest earners
Wezembeek-Oppem is the third Flemish municipality in the list that also includes Sint-Pieters-Woluwe in Brussels
The other six municipalities are all to be found in Luxembourg Province and that has a lot to do with the proximity of financial hub
Believe it or not but the village of Attert
in southern Luxembourg Province had the highest median income of Belgium in 2022: some 42,211 euros
The median income is the income amount that divides a population into two groups
and half having an income below that amount
exactly half the population earns more than the median income and the other half less
Attert is located in Belgium near the border with the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg
That location immediately explains why median income is so high there

‘Life in Belgium is cheaper than in the Grand Duchy and that explains why so many Luxembourgers choose to live in Belgium and work on the other side of the border
this is good news for Belgian municipalities
as everyone who comes to live in Belgium pays municipal taxes
have the gigantic traffic jams towards the Grand Duchy
Many cross the border to work and earn more in Luxembourg
That means they are no longer available to work in Belgian care centres.’
Luxembourg Province has the highest number of towns with high-earners
Attert is not the only municipality in Luxembourg Province to feature in the Top 10 list
No fewer than six of Belgium's municipalities with the highest earners are in that province
Wezembeek-Oppem (€34,702) in Flanders and Sint-Pieters-Woluwe (€34,690) in the Brussels Capital Region complete that Top 10
Sint Joost in the Brussels Capital Region dangles at the bottom of the list with median incomes with a figure of only 19,288 euros.

So now all my horses get it and it’s giving me a feeling of confidence that I am preventing any possible irritation of the stomach."
Dossin aims to take her 8-year old top horse First Lady (by Sir Donnerhall x Johnson) to international small tour level this year
She also has the very promising 4-year old Jaap BH (by Desperado x Jazz x Ulft) coming along as well as a young palomino dressage pony by Golden State
With her horses healthy and happy in their body she hopes to repeat her previous young horse successes in the competition ring

the general economic climate and a rise in mortgage interest rates has meant that during the past year far fewer houses and flats were sold in our region
Notary Bart Van Opstal says that “the rush on real estate that began post-corona has reached its end.”
At 16.9% the fall in the number of real estate transactions was most pronounced in Flanders
in Brussels and Wallonia the number of real estate transactions was down 12%
Last year the number of houses and flats sold in West Flanders fell by 18.4%
The fall in the number of real estate transactions was 17.5% in East Flanders
16.6% in Antwerp Province and 16.8% in Limburg
Flemish Brabant saw the smallest fall in the number of houses and flats sold
There the number of real estate transactions in 2023 was down 14.6% on the figures for 2022

The average price of a house rose in all 5 Flemish provinces in 2023
Leuven is the most expensive provincial capital for those wishing to buy a house
Flemish Brabant (of which Leuven is the capital) is also the most expensive province
Last year the average price of a house in Flemish Brabant was 420,129 euro
The cheapest houses are to be found in the east of the province
The highest average house prices are to be found in Overijse
In 2023 Hasselt was the provincial capital with the lowest average house price

Izegem and Staden are the cheapest municipalities when it comes to house prices

In Antwerp Province the average price of a house rose by 1.8% in 2023

Turnhout and Mol are the cheapest places in the province when it comes to house prices

Flat prices up everywhere except Flemish Brabant
Ghent is the most expensive provincial capital for those wishing to buy a flat
In Ghent a flat costs an average of 310,624 euro
This is more or less (-0.1%) the same as it was a year ago
In East Flanders as a whole the average price of a flat rose by 3.8% to 278,218 euro last year
At 4.9% Limburg is the province that has seen the sharpest rise in average flat prices
In 2023 buyers paid an average of 245,922 euro for a flat in Limburg province
Hasselt is the cheapest provincial capital for flat buyers
In West Flanders a flat costs an average of 296,989 euro
The cheapest flats are to be found in Kuurne
Oostkamp and Knokke-Heist are the municipalities with the highest average prices for a flat
In Antwerp Province average flat prices rose by 3% last year to 265.596 euro
Retie and Borsbeek are the municipalities with the lowest average prices
Brecht and Hove are the places where the average price of a flat is highest
The only province in Flanders where average flat prices fell in 2023 is Flemish Brabant

dyscalculia…Children between the ages of 7 and 14 are intensively coached to help them overcome their learning issues
Afterwards they are able to return to a mainstream school
Prince Emmanuel as spent 5 years as pupil at the Eureka School and will now go to the International School of Brussels
an English-medium private school with extensive sport facilities
