Despite missing out on promotion with Zulte Waregem
Vincent Euvrard will be managing in the Pro League next season | OneFootballGet Belgian & Dutch Football News
they were unable to win in the play-offs and will remain in the Belgian second tier for another season
Euvrard had started the 2023/2024 season in charge of RWDM after gaining promotion to the Pro League. However, John Textor decided to change course just days before the star of the season, with Euvrard being sacked before a ball had been kicked. He ended up back in the second tier but was, despite a good start, unable to lead Zulte Waregem back to the top tier at the first time of asking
Evurard will get his chance in the top flight next season after all

but it hasn’t been a great start for one youngster who got some first-team minutes under Gary O’Neil last season
Loan moves can obviously be very important for young players
Senior football is very different to playing academy games
and loan moves can really bring on a youngster’s development
Clubs have to think about a lot of things when facilitating loan moves but one of the biggest factors is
how likely it is that they will play regularly
Wolves want their players to get minutes under their belts, before returning to Molineux
Sometimes things don’t work out, and there could be some early warning signs over Nathan Fraser
Fraser was given his Wolves first-team debut by Gary O’Neil
He came on in the Carabao Cup game with Blackpool and actually scored in the second-round 5-0 win
He would go on to make 11 appearances for the club across all competitions
and was rather thrown in at the deep end in the second half of 2023/24 when Matheus Cunha
Hwang Hee-chan and Pedro Neto all picked up hamstring injuries
There was always a reasonable chance that Fraser would head out on loan for the 2024/25 season
But eyebrows were raised when he then joined Zulte Waregem in the Belgian second division
Fraser had interest from Shrewsbury Town back in January and some felt he might have made that move in the summer.
View this post on Instagram A post shared by SV Zulte Waregem (@esseveeofficial)
But Fraser headed to Belgium – and it hasn’t been a very fruitful start for him so far
Fraser has made just three appearances for the club
He was left out of the matchday squads to face KAS Eupen and RFC Luttich
and was an unused substitute on the most recent game with RSCA Futures
Wolves will no doubt be keeping a close eye on the situation with Fraser over in Belgium
At the moment it is unclear why he has barely featured for his new club. There has been no word of any kind of injury. Seemingly, manager Sven Vandenbroeck has not yet been convinced by the teenager, who Wolves have previously branded ‘powerful’ and ‘direct’
who obviously had some decent involvement with the first-team last season
The plan was for him to build on that, and play regular football out on loan. Fraser himself opened the door to a temporary move quite early in the summer
So the last thing Wolves will want is for him to just sit on the bench of a loan club
he will start seeing some more involvement soon
Or else Wolves will need to think about facilitating a fresh move for him in January

Zulte Waregem’s Pape Demba Diop called up to Senegal U20 squad for AFCON | OneFootballGet Belgian & Dutch Football News
Senegal announced their squad for the upcoming U20 AFCON in Egypt with Zulte Waregem’s Pape Demba Diop included on the list
The 19-year-old from Ouakham has made two appearances for the first team this season
one in the league and the other in the domestic cup
The central midfielder left Diambars FC in Senegal during the summer of 2022 to join Zulte Waregem
The teenager has already been capped twice by the Senegalese U23 team
While Diop will have a chance to showcase his talents at the tournament
another Senegalese player for Zulte Waregem will not be there
19-year-old versatile defender and midfielder Modou Tambedou has been suffering with injury recently after an impressive season
It is unlikely that Zulte Waregem would have wanted to let Tambedou leave to play in the tournament anyway
given his importance to their chances of survival this season
There is a Senegalese influence at the club alongside Diop and Tambedou
with head coach Mbaye Leye having been capped three times by the first team
while they also have Dakar born Alioune Ndour who has yet to receive a call up to the defending African champions

At least we know he's ready for the competition he'll be facing
Thorgan Hazard's loan destination was in doubt
but it appears to have been decided recently
the younger brother of Eden will be returning to Zulte Waregem for a second go-around with the Belgian club
BREAKING. Confirmation from English sources: Thorgan #Hazard returns on loan to #Zulte Waregem. He trained with #CFC U21. #HLN #HLNSPORT
and Middlesbrough as the frontrunners for Thorgan's services
and it appears the club and player have decided to go with the familiar route and send him to a place where he's already established himself
He should get loads of minutes right away at Zulte
where at the other clubs he'd probably have to prove himself all over again
Given the options it seems were most available
I think Chelsea probably took the best one
Some will complain that he's "too good for Belgium" at this point
He's certainly one of the better players in that league
but he's only been playing first team football for a year and another season worth of assured minutes might be the best thing for him
I've never heard of an on-loan player captaining a side before
but Thorgan Hazard is apparently taking the armband off Davy De Fauw at Zulte Waregem to become the club's new captain:
Thorgan Hazard is indeed the new captain of Zulte Waregem
This is supposed to help his development by giving Thorgan greater responsibility
but I'm still not sure what the purpose of the move is from Waregem's perspective -- I simply don't see how it helps the club to have a loanee leading the team
It sounds like de Fauw will still be doing most of the captainy things at the club
but what is obvious is that Thorgan Hazard has the ability and demeanor to be a leader at a club
clubs in France and Germany – not to mention Premier League giants Liverpool and Serie A champions Napoli – all lined up to express their interest in his client a couple of months ago
But does the Senegal international now find himself in a rather strange position
One where he is rated higher outside of Zulte Waregem than he is within the walls of his own club
At the age of 20, with Liverpool and Napoli seemingly on his trail, and having forced his way into the senior Lions of Teranga squad ahead of next year’s African Cup of Nations
you’d be forgiven for assuming that Pape Diop is one of the first names on the Zulte Waregem team sheet
Diop has only played six times for the club
Minutes have been a little easier to come by since Zulte Waregem were relegated to Belgium’s second tier but Diop is still yet to start a single game in 2023/24
all four of his league appearances coming from the substitute’s bench
“Towards the end of last season, we were contacted by Liverpool,” Gerald Sago, Diop’s agent, told Tuttomercatoweb in July
“Three French teams have expressed interest
there appears to be a clear disconnect between Diop’s reputation and his actual
The extent of the interest showed in the dynamic central midfielder appears driven by his outstanding performances at the U20 African Cup of Nations a few months back. Diop, after all, finished as the tournament’s Golden Boot winner while firing Senegal to glory
after leaving his teenage years behind at the start of September and after suffering a hamstring injury which threatens to further restrict his progress
one suspects Sago’s phone is not quite as hot now as it was at the start of the summer
The 26-year-old left English football with a bad reputation but is eager to go back after proving himself in Belgium
Saido Berahino says he would be open to moving back to England after he leaves Zulte Waregem
Although he has a year left on his contract
the 26-year-old is one of several players the Belgian club are expected to sell this summer because they are struggling to survive as a result of the coronavirus pandemic
Teams from Italy and France are reportedly interested in the former West Brom forward
but he would consider any offer to go back to England
"England is where I first fell in love with football so, yes, if the opportunity arose I would definitely consider it," he told the Daily Mail
Former West Bromwich Albion striker Berahino moved to Zulte on a free transfer last summer after he left Stoke having scored just five goals in 56 appearances
having been hit with a £75,000 fine and a 30-month driving suspension for drink-driving last February
he served an eight-week ban from football after failing a drug test
which he claimed was due to his drink being spiked while he was in a night club
His exploits in Belgium have helped restore his negative image
The Burundi international scored eight times in 22 games in all competitions before the rest of the campaign was cancelled following the Covid-19 outbreak
Berahino says he is proud of his exploits in the Belgian top-flight and feels he has shown he can succeed outside of England
"So far I've had a great time in Belgium
I've showed that I can adapt in a different league," he added
"I can only thank my team-mates and coach for believing in me
I miss the atmosphere and the buzz before games that I grew up learning my trade
We take it for granted how passionate and amazing the fans make the game so beautiful."
Zulte coach Francky Dury said Berahino has been a model player since his arrival as he praised his conduct
"I have nothing bad to say about his attitude," he said
"From my first contact with the player
in the event of Maribor's draw in Tatarstan
have taken them to the knockout stages of Europe's second tier competition
who lost in the Champions League qualifying rounds earlier this season
showed their superior class to punish the home team for wastefulness in front of goal and keep alive their own chances of progression
Wigan must now beat Maribor in Slovenia in their final Group D game and hope that Rubin
who have already qualified as pool winners
"We should have been 2-0 or 3-0 up and that has come back to bite us because we had the chances to put the game to bed," admitted a disappointed Coyle
"It's a cruel game and we were worthy of the win but we let it slip
It's been a number of games when we have not been clinical enough and we have paid a heavy price."
It had all started so well for the home side when Jordi Gómez's fluffed shot fell to the feet of Leon Barnett after seven minutes and the defender showed the finishing prowess that his front men severely lacked
The carrot of a huge tie against one of the sides going out of the Champions League was dangling in front of the Latics but they let Zulte
out of jail when his side seemed handcuffed to their own goal
Callum McManaman was first to miss when he shot straight at Sammy Bossut
before James McClean had an effort saved when Gómez looked better positioned and open for the pass
Then a calamity of errors gave the visitors a route back into the game and into contention to qualify
James McArthur gave away possession softly in midfield to enable Sven Kums to force the ball wide to Thorgan Hazard
The on-loan Chelsea midfielder and younger brother of Eden found the net even though his shot was straight at Lee Nicholls
who at 21 was playing in only his second European game
let the effort slip through his hands and could only flap as it found the net
Scott Carson's absence through injury in recent weeks had been hardly noticeable until the 37th minute on Thursday night
We will pick him up from this and he will have a great career," Coyle said in support of his young goalkeeper
A point would have left Wigan firm favourites to progress and
as they chased the win that would have ensured qualification
Nick Powell forced Bossut into a decent second-half save
Zulte's need for victory meant the game became wide open and Wigan looked the more vulnerable against the side sitting second in Belgium's top tier
With two minutes remaining and fans starting to leave the DW Stadium
Junior Malanda curled in a superb effort to send the visiting supporters wild in celebration and leave Wigan's qualification hopes hanging by a thread
Former Chelsea and Celtic midfielder Charly Musonda has mysteriously gone AWOL at new club Zulte Waregem
The top flight Belgian side signed Musonda following his release from Stamford Bridge last month
calling an end to the 25-year-old's unsuccessful 10-year spell at Chelsea
first underwent ineffective loan spells at Real Betis
Celtic and Vitesse before leaving the Blues as a free agent
Musonda was handed a fresh deal by Zulte Waregem in June after impressing in a training session and trial match
but the ex-Chelsea flop has reportedly disappeared since the offer was made
The Belgian club initially stated that his absence was due to a family issue and insisted that he would return to pen the deal, according to The Sun.
But the Essevee chiefs have since admitted that they have no clue where he is.
'When will Charly Musonda return to training? I don't know,' said chief executive Eddy Cordier.
'I don't know whether we will pull the plug on him because he hasn't been in since he trained a couple of weeks ago and there has been no contact.
'It's more important that we concentrate on the group of players who are here at the club for pre-season.'

Nice-Matin and RMC Sport report that Tunisian international winger Bassem Srarfi is leaving OGC Nice today on a permanent deal
The 22-year-old’s destination is Belgian side Zulte Waregem – Les Aiglons have agreed to allow the player to leave the club for free in exchange for a hefty sell-on percentage fee clause
Srarfi rejected an offer from Ligue 1 strugglers Nîmes earlier this month
L’Équipe report that 21-year-old right-back Abdallah Ali Mohamed is leaving Marseille to join Belgian side Zulte Waregem on loan with an option to buy
The youngster is leaving in order to get increased playing time – he has been a regular fixture of the OM reserve team but André Villas-Boas has not given him a chance in Ligue 1
Ali Mohamed will join the Belgian club on loan with an option to buy – his existing contract runs until June 2022
