a Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl rider finished top three in a kermesse after animating the race from the very outset
where neo-pro Stan Van Tricht came home a strong third
just three days after Ethan Vernon finished runner-up in Vichte
Consisting of 16 laps for a total of 153.5 kilometers
Friday’s kermesse got off to a furious start
a huge group forming off the front after the opening lap
Bert Van Lerberghe and Stan Van Tricht were there for Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl
helping the breakaway gain a minute after just a few kilometers
A series of attacks whittled down the group to just seven men
but the gap remained unchanged and they ended up fighting for victory
which went to Lionel Taminiaux (Alpecin-Fenix)
“Initially we didn’t really have an ideal situation
but we tried to do our turns and save energy when possible
At one point it became clear the move would make it and I started feeling better and better during the race and was there when a selection was made
In the final kilometers there was a bit of poker
I tried to react and stay in a good position at all times
but was surprised from behind in the sprint
but the podium is a good result and I am content with my day”

A Belgian company has developed a water processing installation that allows it to convert pig’s blood into water fit for human consumption
Veos specializes in producing animal proteins for the food industry by processing animal blood and collagen into high-quality protein powder used in human and animal food products
the company relied solely on large quantities of groundwater to clean the massive tanks it stored pig blood in
thanks to a €2 million investment in a state-of-the-art water purification installation
Veos can actually use the stored pig blood to make drinkable water

“To reinforce our sustainable ambitions and keep groundwater at the right level, we started looking for an alternative,” Veos co-CEO Robert Slee said
adding that the large treatment plant can provide 150,000 liters of potable water per day
we are going to thicken blood during the production process to then vacuum dry it later,” the Veos co-founder explained the purification process
We let that condense until it’s water again
That water will now be purified thanks to the new water treatment plant so it can be used in the production process.”
Veos will need to pump 40 percent less groundwater
It will use most of the water distilled from pig blood to clean its tanks
as evidenced by Veos employees toasting with glasses full of the stuff
How would you feel about using pig's blood to quench your thirst
A Zwevezele-based company is now purifying animal blood and turning it into potable water fit for human consumption
a company in Zwevezele (West Flanders) has started to purify animal blood and turn it into drinkable water
Veos produces animal proteins for the food industry
the company used groundwater to clean its tanks
By purifying the water from animal blood itself
the company has to pump up to 40 per cent less water
Veos is a global leader in high-quality proteins

The company invested 2 million euros in a water treatment plant that will allow it to filter water from animal blood into drinkable water
The company needs an awful lot of water to clean the tanks in which animal blood is stored
"To reinforce our sustainable ambitions and keep groundwater at the right level
we started looking for an alternative," says Veos co-CEO Robert Slee
The alternative is a large treatment plant to provide 150,000 litres of potable water daily
The company gets that water from animal blood
we are going to thicken blood during the production process to then vacuum dry it later," explains Slee

That water will now be purified thanks to the new water treatment plant so it can be used in the production process."
The company will mainly use the water for tank cleaning
Veos has been based in Zwevezele (Wingene) since it was founded in 1974 and is part of the Veos Group
Veos is happy in Zwevezele: "We want to stay here," says Slee
