(Luxembourg, 11 February 2025) – The European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) in Sofia (Bulgaria) has filed an indictment at the Sofia District Court against the manager and owner of a company, suspected of fraud in a public procurement procedure to acquire trolleybuses for the municipality of Vratsa, a project worth €4.5 million (BGN 8.838.308).  At issue is a public procurement procedure launched to purchase nine electric trolleybuses to be used for public transport in the municipality of Vratsa. The project was financed by the European Cohesion Fund, under the measures to reduce air pollution. The beneficiary of the project was the municipality of Vratsa and the municipal company responsible for public transportation.  During the public tender, the defendant declared that the trolleybuses originated from a Polish company, solely for the purpose of obtaining the contract.   Based on the evidence, the company purchased the trolleybuses from a Belarusian state-owned company instead. This company was later subject to EU restrictive measures for supporting Russia's war against Ukraine, after the purchase had taken place. The Polish company went into liquidation shortly after the completion of the public procurement procedure. The investigation revealed that the trolleybuses were sold for nearly twice the initial acquisition price paid by the contractor, which constitutes a clear case of price inflation. If found guilty, the suspects face two to eight years of imprisonment, as provided under Bulgarian law.  All persons concerned are presumed innocent until proven guilty in the competent Bulgarian courts of law. The EPPO is the independent public prosecution office of the European Union. It is responsible for investigating, prosecuting and bringing to judgment crimes against the financial interests of the EU. 28 Apr 2025 17:00:00 GMT?.css-1txiau5-AnswerContainer{color:var(--GlobalColorScheme-Text-secondaryText2);}Botev Vratsa won 1–0 over CSKA 1948 on Mon This is 31 of the First Professional League Relegation Group Predicted lineups are available for the match a few days in advance while the actual lineup will be available about an hour ahead of the match The current head to head record for the teams are CSKA 1948 7 win(s) CSKA 1948 have won the previous 2 matches against Botev Vratsa. more than just talk about repairs of critical infrastructure objects Petkov has been the mayor of the village of Glozhene in Kozloduy Municipality since 2007 he is convinced that the process of political decentralization in the regions must be completed.  The programme of Blue Bulgaria includes a change in Bulgaria's tax policy providing for up to 20% of the profit tax of companies operating in the Vratsa Region and 20% of the total income tax of the residents to remain in the region and be invested in infrastructure projects Nine exquisitely made objects from two Thracian treasures at the Vratsa Regional Museum of History are participating in an upcoming exhibition at the J The Ancient Thrace and the Classical World: Treasures from Bulgaria and Greece exhibition features more than 150 artefacts It will be on between November 3 and March 3 These are among the most impressive exhibits from the Mogilanska Mogila and the Rogozen Treasure that show a virtuoso Thracian craftsmanship which was at levels that even modern master jewelers can hardly achieve No major prestigious overseas exposition presenting the Bulgarian cultural and archaeological heritage is held without the participation of Vratsa Museum of History Visitors will be able to see a total of nine vessels Two are from the treasure found at the Mogilanska mound in Vratsa and seven are from the Rogozen treasure and a golden jug with depicted chariots were selected from the Vratsa treasure.  The entire treasure was discovered by Bogdan Nikolov in 1965-1966  Builders stumbled upon it by accident while digging a trench for a residential building They came across a stone structure and artefacts dating back to the Thracian period They discovered three stone tombs that had been destroyed over time human remains with the famous laurel wreath on the head from which the proverbial title "Thracian Princess of Vratsa" derives The number of finds from the three tombs exceeds 130 The treasure has been dated to the 4th century BC It probably belonged to a local dynastic house of a Thracian Triballi tribe ruler the whereabouts of whose residence is still unclear The other seven items are from the Rogozen hoard  Selections include the emblematic phiale with Augeas and Heracles which amazes with the incredible craftsmanship of Thracian jewellery - this extremely high relief the workmanship of which to this day has no explanation of how it was achieved In the exhibition are included a perfect jug occupying in principle the central part of the exposition at the Vratsa Museum of History and featuring the Mother Goddess riding a lioness There is another silver jug depicting the Mother Goddess on a chariot three phials from the collection with inscriptions and one phial with a griffin.  the Rogozen treasure includes 165 vessels made of silver and decorated with gilding  The first part of it was discovered in 1986 by Ivan Dimitrov during an excavation for a water pipeline He retrieved a total of 65 silver vessels without even realizing what they were archaeologists from the Vratsa Museum found another 100 vessels - jugs some with magnificent hammered images from Thracian and Greek mythology there are also those with engraved inscriptions in Greek Some of the vessels were made south of the Balkan Mountains and arrived here either as gifts or as booty There are even a few vessels from ancient Hellas The Thracians used only forging in making the vessels which is an extremely precise and complex technique.  Taking a question what distinguishes the Vratsa Museum from the other ones across the country Ganetsovski answered that it had turned 70 in 2023 as a state museum institution and has been established as a leading regional one in Bulgaria for many years for a number of reasons.  The building was built specifically for a museum and was completed in 1980  The museum also has two ethnographic National Revival complexes an exposition of traditional means of transport The other is named after revolutionary Nikola Voyvodov Some of the expositions in the main building are without analogue in Bulgaria which houses four treasures presented in a very interesting way The hall was renovated and opened in 2023 and is an exceptional rarity for a provincial museum We also have the First N-plant Hall (referring to Kozloduy N-plant nearby) the Botev Hall (dedicated to revolutionary and poet Hristo Botev) The museum also has "The World of the Child" and "Traditional Means of Transport" exhibitions the latter dedicated to prominent Vratsa entrepreneur Mito Orozov  We also offer a new service to the exposition "Traditional viticulture and viticulture of Vratsa region and the Northwest" - tasting of wines from this region The number of active expositions in the central building totals 14 Vratsa Regional Museum has about 130,000 movable cultural valuables with some exhibited while others are stored in its depositories.  The Vratsa Symphony Orchestra attracts Identity codes lie at the basis of genealogy – the science of tracing the bloodline Identity codes is what sets us apart as people Chief Assistant at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Experimental Morphology The young researcher has dedicated years of work and field study to this area in Bulgaria and he is going to make the results public on 1 November when an exhibition opens called “Identity codes” different everyday items passed down from generation to generation with each item and family tree bearing its identity code so that common features can be traced.Longevity was the reason why Dr Rozen Gatsin undertook his latest field expedition – in Northwestern Bulgaria Georgi Dimitrov found out about the researcher’s work and the upcoming exhibition from the Bulgarian National Radio and contacted him to tell him about an ancestor of theirs – Yoncho Tsolov.“A meeting with the heirs to an old family line from Northwestern Bulgaria is what started it,” says Dr “They told me there was someone in their family who had lived to the age of 130 And we found there had been such a person in Lik village near Vratsa the death certificate of someone who had lived to the age of 130 He was born in 1777 and died on 9 January 1907 anyone can say we don’t have a birth certificate but there is no way we can find a birth certificate after all the period in question is the late 18th century But tracing the birth of his children chronologically we can see and we are sure this man was actually born in 1777.”There followed meetings with the locals and with relatives which led to the discovery of the tombstone of Yoncho himself clearly decipherable to this day: “Here lies father Yoncho aged 130 These words show grandfather Yoncho outlived his two songs – themselves centenarians According to National Statistical Institute data 2021 there were 325 people living in Bulgaria aged 100 or over 222 live in towns and only 103 in villages 4,958 was the number of people aged 95-99 It is yet to be proved that Yoncho Tsolov did live to the age of 130 as a world record but we should be proud there were people in our lands who lived to a biblical age “We are yet to tell the story of this centenarian because it is a truly admirable age There will be a section there that will tell Yoncho Tzolov’s story with documentary evidence of his age and life - photographs it will be interesting to visit and see what kind of people once lived in our lands,” says Dr but it is probably a combination of different components – clean environment a stress-free life and living around
