The technology available to us and the context we’ve been living in have sped up the digital transformation of all industries and companies of all sizes
This well-known bakery in Lima has been able to predict daily sales of each product one week ahead of time
therefore avoiding overproduction or lack of stock—all thanks to artificial intelligence
With the help of Microsoft partner SP Peru
María Almenara took the first step towards its digital transformation process
leaving acquisition costs or digital infrastructure maintenance behind
we can analyze customer buying frequency and average purchase amounts
optimizing our processes and reducing pressure on the shop and the manager
These steps directly affect the customer experience,” states Carlos Armando de la Flor
When María Almenara decided to become a data-driven business
This indicator shows the ability to serve customers without running out of stock
assuring an optimal experience for its customers
a system was also created with Azure Machine Learning
Its integration with the Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP) and the development of a specific mathematical technique allows for daily and weekly predictions
This is how the bakery obtained sales estimates for each store and product
allowing for planning and adjustments to cover demand for each of the 8 locations
as well as the ability to ship precise orders
with a goal of complete business transparency and real-time decision making
the bakery used different Human Resources survey systems like SAP
management created a control panel to view 18 indicators in 3 areas: finances
expenses and budgets; human resources; and customer satisfaction
The mathematical technique used for these predictions undoubtedly played an important role in this process
This technique was later replicated and tested by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology
where local partner SP’s technique performed better than that of the team from the prestigious academic institution
Thanks to integrating these changes and its technological foresight
the bakery was able to weather a year as challenging as 2020—and managed to reach a milestone for the industry
This also reflects a change in María Almenara’s ethos
which is made of three fundamental pillars: a) a scalable culture and business model with the single goal of making hearts happy; b) data as an essential asset for leading in the digital economy and c) focus on the person
With each step of the digital transformation process
María Almenara realized that its partners had to grow with the company
The industry’s turnover rate is usually 25%
incorporating technology has created business growth and satisfaction for its 223 partners
Carlos Armando de la Flor concludes: “Here at María Almenara
Thanks to the omnichannel retailing platform our business uses
we’ve been able to establish a way to work that allows pregnant women or women with young kids to serve customers from home

As the temperatures dip in northern Europe it is time for the winter golfing exodus
Heading south is what golfers like to do and there are few better spots to land in than the south of Spain
SO/ Sotogrande Spa & Golf Resort Hotel is a great option situated around 70 minutes from Malaga Airport which is itself a destination for multiple airports around the UK and northern Europe
Golf365 had the chance to check it out and see for ourselves just why it is so popular
The journey down the coast from Malaga is straightforward and takes us past multiple golf courses
with views of the rock of Gibraltar and Morocco across the sea
Sotogrande celebrated its 60th anniversary last year
It is one of Europe’s finest residential destinations and SO/ Sotogrande caters for those wanting a short visit
Heading up to the resort takes us past Valderrama
It was the venue for the 1997 Ryder Cup and
it makes up the two finest courses in the region (and also in all of Continental Europe)
we get the first glimpse of home for the next few days
The hotel is set around central gardens with restaurants and bars beyond
just a short outdoor walk from the main area and the highlights are that the two absolutes for any good holiday are covered
One of the great mysteries of swanky hotels is that so many times the showers still leak all over the bathroom floor
The same happens here but it’s planned that way being a wet room
After checking in we go for lunch at Society Clubhouse
The views are terrific – out across the Med – and the food is superb too
The chicken Caesar salad lifted from excellent to wonderful courtesy of delicious Parmesan crisps
Later in the stay we’ll have terrific tapas on our final afternoon (with the finest Patatas Bravas of the trip – crispy
Meanwhile the Society breakfast is tremendous with a paper bag of pastries
a large glass of orange juice and coffee delivered on arrival
and an a la carte menu of delicious options (the granola was top notch)
It wasn’t just us who liked it – Jon Rahm was staying and he was nodding his ascent to the staff at breakfast
Cortijo Santa Maria 1862 offers an authentic Andalusian gastronomic experience – and experience is also the right word for it
It’s about being led on a journey around the region’s food and drink
It’s about picking old favourites and being introduced to many other delicacies entirely new and unexpected
There are two swimming pools to catch the sun and also a fantastic spa with a nice Bohemian feel
There are eight meditative treatment rooms
After a round of golf the sheer force of the waterfall in the jacuzzi area might have been the best post-18 hole experience ever
Further afield Sotogrande has water sports
horse riding and The Beach (an inland blue lagoon) to offer
Almenara Golf is situated so close to the hotel that you can book a morning tee time
and be on the first tee less than two minutes after bidding “Buena Dias” to the friendly Society waiting staff
Originally designed by Dave Thomas (responsible for The Belfry)
the courses have been renovated by Manuel Pinero (the Spanish Ryder Cup star)
There were originally three nines but the third is being transformed into a par-3 course and academy which will turn Almenara into a state of the art coaching facility
One nine twists through beautiful thick forest
We play in the early morning and it’s perfect
A light mist clears to reveal the Mediterranean
the dew disappears as the sun and temperature rises
It’s a fantastic fun test but you can’t afford to be wild from the tee
I’m not the world’s biggest fan of resort golf and this is right up my street – avenues of trees
We play the second nine on the final day and it’s a little wide from the tee – but not always
First we make our way through the trees before the course opens up to a stretch of holes that skirt the edge of a large
These holes call for an aggressive approach – a par five with water down the right
a sharp dog leg that the longer hitters can cut off
The hotel and spa are superb with great food options and a lovely
Almenara has those two loops to keep you occupied and offer great value with all-you-can-play packages that include three nights at the hotel
unlimited golf at Almenara and 20% off partner golf courses starting at €617
And if you want to treat yourself SO/ Sotogrande’s great golfing selling point is that it is a gateway to getting tee times at Valderrama and Real Club
The two are otherwise difficult to play so this is a tremendous option for those wanting to taste the best golf in Europe

The owner of 10th and Piedmont and G’s Midtown combined the two restaurant spaces to open Casa Almenara just beyond the rainbow crosswalk
And it serves brunch and bottomless mimosas
Located at the corner of 10th Street and Piedmont Avenue, just beyond Midtown’s famed rainbow crosswalk, Casa Almenara takes over both of the spaces once home to 10th and Piedmont and G’s Midtown. Yeremian describes his latest Midtown restaurant as a “neighborhood destination” for Latin American dishes, with a particular focus on foods found around Tulum and throughout Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula
expect dishes like empanadas stuffed with steak and Oaxaca cheese
Look for steak and eggs topped with chimichurri
and shrimp and grits served with crispy polenta during brunch
In addition to brunch and dinner, Casa Almenara also offers food and drink specials
including a $12 taco trio and $9 margaritas on Wednesdays and $12 cocktails and enchiladas on Thursdays
Yeremian also plans to host a live entertainment series called Tulum Nights in the evenings
Casa Almenara joins longtime Mexican restaurant staple, Zocalo
which opened in the heart of the 10th Street and Piedmont Avenue dining district in 1995 and is a popular spot for strong margaritas on the patio
Brunch: Wednesday - Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dinner: Wednesday - Sunday, 4 p.m. until closing. Click here for the menu

The owner of 10th and Piedmont and G’s Midtown is combining the two restaurants into one and opening Casa Almenara: Tulum Cuisine and Craft Bar
After closing his restaurants 10th and Piedmont and G’s Midtown in early January to make “improvements” to the kitchens and dining rooms
owner Gilbert Yeremian is set to replace both in the coming weeks with a new restaurant serving Mexican fare
Like the food, the design for Casa Almenara will lean into the lush coastal vibes of Tulum
and green plants throughout the dining room and bar
Look for brunch served in the morning and early afternoon
followed by dinner and cocktails in the evening
Yeremian also plans to host a live entertainment series called Tulum Nights during dinner at Casa Alemenara
Yeremian’s brother Sean is the owner of multiple Atlanta locations of Hobnob Neighborhood Tavern and Cattle Shed Wine and Steak Bar at Halcyon in Alpharetta
Earlier this week, Eater reported on another longtime Midtown restaurant closing. The Lawrence closes Monday
Carr and his business partner Eric Simpkins plan to replace it with a new restaurant later this year
The restaurant just needs a new breath of life,” Carr says

Local artist Karl Ullger’s piece ‘Ophelia’ has got through to the shortlist of 700 paintings for the Almenara Art prize.
The Almenara Art Prize offers economical support to artists and a great opportunity to promote their work. It stands out for its categories and prizes. Accepted works, finalists and winners remain displayed in their webpage and social media.
His painting Ophelia is his rendition and version of the story of Ophelia, depicting the aftermath of the Shakespearean heroine’s suicide in Hamlet.
“A morbid scene but a popular one at the time. A story that has been interpreted by many artists, one that stands out for me is by Sir John Everett Millais dating back to 1851,” said Mr Ullger.
“In my version she is walking towards us through a swamp of leaves and shrubs. The painting is a juxtaposition and battle of greens and reds.”
“With the red dominating the shadows and the very lower section of the painting. The bottom of the painting in red representing her sad fate of eventual drowning.”
“While she walks dragging her ankles through the swamp she sees her reflection on the water where her mental health is being tested, a painting with no violence but an ethereally harrowing tone,” he added.
‘Ophelia’ will be now featuring on the Almenara Collection online exhibition until 30th November, irrelevant whether it reaches the final selected works round. If successful it will be hanging the month of November in the Real Circulo de la Amistad, in Córdoba.
Mr Ullger explained that in a few weeks the judging for the final gala will take place and if his painting were to be successful then on Thursday, November 7 there would be a Gala night where the dinner and prizes are held.
“The gala is considered to be one of the most prestigious art events in Spain with top international artists being invited. Artists such as the famous Madrid based artist, Antonio Lopez Garcia has been amongst some of the judges in previous years,” he said.
Almenara is a non-profit initiative to promote and help artists and an online and social media platform to connect artists, art lovers, collectors, galleries and other prominent people around art world. It organises events, art contests and collaborates with art schools, art organisations and clubs. It also promotes artists, their works and exhibitions.
There will be an exhibition of selected works in Córdoba, Spain, from November 7 to 30, 2024.
The exhibition takes place in the Real Circulo de la Amistad, in Córdoba, a cultural institution, a historic club and a building dated back to 1854.
Today it has more than 8000 members a library of about 17,000 volumes and an important pictorial background with canvases by Julio Romero de Torres, Carlos Ángel Díaz Huertas or José María Rodríguez de los Ríos Losada, among others.

"Sergio is a very special person in my career [and] in my life
We spent a lot of time in the last 5 years together
Our lives are permanently changing in this case
it's a positive change. He has a family
He has some responsibilities that he needs to attend [to]
He needs to be there and you cannot be in two places at the same time

to ensure the team’s progress and focus during the latter stages of the league and cup competitions
management chose to address this request at the conclusion of the season
“This is a decision I took with a heavy heart,” said Almenara
due to personal matters that the club is aware of
They have been unable to integrate into the country
We thank Sergio for his contribution to the Club

Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro has opened up about the sudden exit of his assistant coach Sergio Almenara
saying he knew about it for a while already
Almenara opted to leave the club by mutual consent two days after aiding Riveiro and the Pirates squad to overcome Mamelodi Sundowns to claim their second Nedbank Cup title in as many seasons
He joined the club in July 2022 from FC Inter Turku in Finland’s First Tier
“It’s something that I knew since about five
“Riveiro said on Thabiso Mosia’s Game On show on Radio 2000
“It belongs to his personal space first of all
The only thing I can say is that he was exceptionally good for the institution during these two years
“Tireless worker everyday and massive contribution towards the things we were achieving during these two years together
myself the last five years working together
you can imagine we are much more than colleagues
“So it’s difficult for me from now to imagine my future without Sergio [Almenara]
but I totally understand the reasons behind that and I’m fully supporting him
maybe in the near future we will work together again
but now my time continue here in [Orlando] Pirates and we will find solutions
Despite fears that coach Jose might follow Almenara considering their working partnership over the years
the Spanish mentor assured the Pirates faithful that his work with the club is far from being done
We have still a lot of things to do and to achieve together and it’s where our mind is.”
In terms of searching for Almenara’s assistant
Riveiro said they would widen their net in getting the best possible candidate for the post
We looking for improve the coaching staff…
It’s a permanently chasing possibilities to increase our probabilities to succeed,” he added
we used to go with the focus maybe too much in the players’ squad
but I think nowadays – how strong is the coaching staff and people who is supporting our players to be better
Day after day it becomes even more relevant and it’s where our focus is in many different positions
no reason to limit ourselves to one country
when quizzed on how much of a role he would play in the decision-making of appointing a new assistant
obviously my opinion and you know my thoughts are relevant in this type of decisions because in the end it’s gonna be my responsibility to make sure that everything is working well,” he added
the role distribution in the coaching staff – the cohesion of that coaching staff
It’s gonna be a mirror for our players
very important that we manage to create a solid group to support our players and to lead them you know with our example.”
After Almenara’s exit, Pirates also confirmed the exit of attacking duo Souaibou Marou and Fortune Makaringe

The use of innovative construction techniques paired with locally sourced granite and strategically placed fenestrations
establish an intimate connection between the inhabitants of the house and its natural setting
Talking about the central inspiration behind the design, Spanish architect Raúl Almenara says
“The house is a poem to the century-old walnut tree that already existed in the orchard
My intention was to capture the air of the place: the touch
the scent [...] the intangible that characterises a site
But not only the physical parameters but also the customs of the environment.”
The architect achieves this connection by creating a house with the appearance of a giant rock, seamlessly blending into the natural landscape
The use of granite for the façade exudes solidity that is reinforced with the use of the same material on the access doors
The sloping roof is a nod to the architecture of the area and lends the home some depth and movement
offering captivating views of the area's transhumance
The third detail comprises numerous windows
creating a celestial panorama that allows residents to sleep while stargazing
Upon entering Casa del Nogal, visitors are greeted by an interior courtyard design
emphasising the house's intention to be enjoyed in the presence of natural elements
The glass protecting the courtyard moves to create a seamless connection with the other rooms
blurring the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces
The house is divided into public and private areas
with the large double-height room acting as a dining room
A lower level houses the winter living room with a fireplace that creates a warm and intimate space
Describing the crucial role material plays in the design
“The granite and stone used in the house from the surrounding landscape, which make life inside the house seem to take place outdoors
These materials have made the house look as if it has always been there
with the character of belonging to a place and staying there.”
Casa del Nogal stands as a key example of a residential design that seamlessly integrates architecture and nature
Through thoughtful design choices and deep respect for the existing landscape
Almenara has created a harmonious living space that pays homage to the century-old walnut tree while providing a comfortable and sustainable home for its inhabitants
The house's solid and stony character and large openings not just embrace
The home’s strategic relationship with the surroundings makes Casa del Nogal a true blend of comfort and nature in perfect harmony
