in the northern part of the State of Paraná
has found an ally to better manage the 'disposable' materials produced in homes by carrying out annual collections of recycled waste
The Office for the Pastoral Care of the Environment of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima Parish is carrying out this project
It is a great concern for the "Upper City"
It is a watershed between three basins: the Pirapó River
which feeds the locality; the Tibagi River and the Ivaí River
Volunteers go around the neighborhoods collecting both electronic waste and used cooking oil
The initiative is part of a series of activities by the local church to respond to Pope Francis' call to care for our common home
Included in what the Pope calls a "network of solidarity and belonging" (Laudato sì
Amauri Henrique Rosina is the pastoral coordinator of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima Parish and a Laudato si' Animator of the World Catholic Climate Movement
He leads the campaign's work in the city to put into practice the Pope's call to transform the environment in which one lives
“alleviating the adverse effects of their surroundings and learning to orient their lives amid disorder and uncertainty” (Laudato sì
the community was asked to properly separate and dispose of used cooking oil in PET bottles or other well-sealed containers
avoiding the contamination of 1 billion liters of water
widely used for domestic purposes in bars and restaurants
can cause serious damage to the environment
Experts advise not to dispose of the product in home sinks
in addition to damaging the plumbing in homes
volunteers had noticed that "people had a lot of used oil and did not know what to do with it
We saw that the containers were dirty and dusty
and people said they did not know how to dispose of them
we are now creating a habit for recycling by sharing knowledge
because it is a highly polluting and toxic product," explains Amauri
The collected liters of oil are always sent to an authorized company that filters it and sends it to a soap factory in town
dozens of seedlings were distributed as part of the project
Plant a tree," as well as the installation of 16 signs advising people not to dispose of trash in inappropriate places
"God has entrusted us with the task of cultivating and caring for his creation
The actions we take are meant to make the community think," adds the Laudato si' Animator
The Apucarana community also participates in the annual e-waste collection
Brazil ranks fifth in the world and first in Latin America for e-waste production
according to data from the 2019 report The Global E-Waste Monitor
conducted by the United Nations in collaboration with various other international organizations
volunteers from the Office for the Pastoral Care of the Environment and employees of COCAP (Cooperative of Collection of Apucarana) go around neighborhoods to collect small and medium-sized electrical and electronic products that are no longer working or are unused: old televisions
equipment that contains materials such as plastic
glass and metal can be recycled and must be disposed of properly by specific companies to reduce damage to the environment
"the success of this work is due to the trust that the community places in the Office for the Pastoral Care of the Environment
as suggested by Pope Francis in Laudato si'
which is our planet." The coordinator explains that the volunteers have decided to work "from the inside out because it makes no sense to wish to save the world and not take practical actions in our home and our family
to recycle and also encourage a decrease in the use of materials to reduce household waste
It is a great harmony we are seeking: we need to start from the inside."

On the occasion of Fr Francis Xavier Tabone Adami’s death on June 22 in the city of Apucarana
a short homage is due to a much beloved priest who dedicated all his life
and by the end of the same year was in the diocese of Londrina
He started working in the parish of Rolândia
distinguishing himself as father spiritual of many people
especially the nuns of the Gozo-founded Franciscan Sisters of the Heart of Jesus
The partitioning of the diocese of Londrina in 1965 found him working in the parish of Sabaudia
which passed to the newly-installed diocese of Apucarana
where he worked as parish priest of the cathedral in Apucarana (1966-1972) and of the nearby town of Cambira (1972-2020)
Fr Francis was appointed vicar general of the diocese in 1984
In the 1980s he was already the coordinator of the diaconate for all the dioceses in the state of Paraná
the courses for laymen with a vocation for the diaconate were given twice a year in different dioceses and they were the foundation stone for a novel way at serving the Church and empowering the laity
One may now perceive this highly relevant service working in all the dioceses of the state of Paraná
the result of God’s work through Fr Francis
he laboured for the Church ad intra till disease impaired his ongoing services to the Church
Perhaps it’s not preposterous to quote Shakespeare in this context: “He was a man
I shall not look upon his like again.”

THIS is the horror moment a vengeful son shoots his dad's suspected killer six times during his murder trial
Cristiano Alves Terto, from Brazil
opened fire at Francisco Cleidivaldo Mariano de Moura as he chased him across the courtroom
CCTV footage shows judges and jury members running for their lives and cowering in fear as the drama unfolded
Terto struck him twice on the head with the butt of his weapon
The gunman was then chased by onsite police officers
who arrested him at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder
The incident took place in São José do Belmonte
but the images were only made public on Monday (April 1)
He’s since been discharged and is at liberty, with no retrial date currently set, as reported by Need to Know.
As for Terto, he was sent to prison on remand on November 30, 2023.
De Moura allegedly shot his attacker’s dad, Francisco Alves, on October 5, 2012.
De Moura said he was looking for a donkey that had strayed from his property in Lagoa Alexandre
only for Alves to allegedly reply: “Get off my property
when Alves allegedly grabbed a wooden stick and walked towards him
then fired a gunshot into the air in a bid to scare him off
Alves continued moving towards him and forced him into firing a second shot into the ground
prompting De Moura to fire a fatal third shot - hitting him in the abdomen
The victim was taken to a local hospital and later transferred to a larger facility in Arcoverde
It remains unclear as to how long De Moura was on the run for and why it took so long for him to appear in court
Elsewhere, a pregnant beauty blogger and her unborn baby have died from dengue fever
Influencer Sofia Amorim, 22, was seven months into her pregnancy when she died from multiple organ failure in her hometown Goiania
And this is the horror moment a neighbour was shot dead after poking his head over the wall as his partner begged him to take cover
Bruno Emídio da Silva Junior, 33, and his partner were holding a party at their home in Apucarana
when they thought they heard gunshots coming from next door

We’ve seen some scary clips of cyclists reaching huge speeds tucked in behind trucks
but this is a first for us; a whole group drafting
The incident in the clip below appears to have occurred in southern Brazil; between the cities of Arapongas and Apucarana in the state of Paraná
It has been shared by a cyclist there who posted it to encourage others not to engage in this kind of riding
While the cyclists are on a dual carriageway
eight of them are right behind the truck as cars overtake and the incident is filmed from inside a following vehicle
suggesting the cyclists behind the vehicle may have been dropped by a larger group ahead
“This was on BR 369 on the stretch between the cities of Arapongas and Apucarana,” said the cyclist who posted the video
He then added in a message to other cyclists: “If we want to be respected
In another clip from Brazil a few years ago, two riders reached over 120km per hour drafting on a truck. One of them put his camera on the back of the vehicle to record themselves
Isso foi na BR 369 no trecho entre as cidades de Arapongas e Apucarana. Se a gente quer ser respeitado, tem que respeitar, não? pic.twitter.com/RRGDUTF3ci
