production in the presalt was stable at 1,822 MMbbl/d, due largely to increased output through the FPSO Sepetiba on the Mero field, thanks to three new producing wells. New wells also came online at the FPSO Almirante Barroso (Búzios) and the FPSO Maricá (Tupi field), with 10 new injection wells entering service at fields in the Santos and Campos basins. ProductionPetrobras starts production from third FPSO at Mero pre-salt fieldMarechal Duque de Caxias floater is being supplied by Malaysia's MISC Group with offshore project updates being released on almost a weekly basis throughout 2024.  Brazil is expected to see the highest growth in offshore production amongst all countries globally by 2030 as compared to 2024 levels,” Santosh Kumar Budankayala vice president of upstream research with Rystad Energy Petrobras is expected to lead in terms of offshore exploratory drilling yet again It has been trying to acquire drilling permits to drill in the Foz do Amazonas Basin this would be a significant breakthrough as it has been struggling to get approval to drill in this basin It has also reaffirmed in exploration investment plans in its 2024-2028 exploration strategy where it unveiled plans to invest US$7.5 billion in exploration investments to drill ~40 wells across Brazil’s southeastern and Equatorial margin basins.” International operators slowed down drilling activity in 2024 due to mixed results seen in earlier years bp is expected to drill in late 2025 or in 2026 in the Bumerangue and Tupinamba blocks bp also drilled its first well offshore Brazil as an operator in almost 11 years after it spud a well in the Pau Brasil Block in 2024 either completed or under construction at shipyards in the Far East.  The Almirante Tamandaré reached its offshore destination at the Búzios field in the Santos Basin offshore Brazil in October Petrobras anticipates first oil in early 2025 Integration work has finished on the Alexandre de Gusmão the fourth permanent production systems at the Mero field in the Santos Basin with the present focus on commissioning activities until sailaway around year-end 2024 an deploy three helicopters to fulfil this contract Omni says it is the only company in Brazil operating the AW189 and H175 models “Brazil has seen huge discoveries made in the past with Tupi being the first large discovery that was made in 2006 Buzios was another large find that was made in 2010 Both of them being multibillion barrel finds,” Budankayala said “Operators have tried to recreate this success over the past few years and have seen mixed results.”  companies spent more than US$11 billion in acquiring blocks across the Campos and Santos basins which the Rystad analyst deems an indication there is “some untapped potential.”  exploration activity since 2014 has not resulted in any multibillion-barrel finds as was seen in the past,” Budankayala added Equinor and Petronas have spun their drillbits in search of discoveries [and] Petrobras has also continued to perform exploratory drilling Brazil’s oil and gas production is estimated to increase over the next five years, peaking in the early 2030s, driven by the country’s offshore presalt discoveries, according to a September 2024 Rystad Energy report.  Petrobras remains “a dominant operator” in South America Petrobras investments in third-quarter 2024 totaled $4.5 billion with the company continuing to focus primarily on large presalt projects Rystad reports a positive near-term production outlook for Brazil but it forecasts the country should expect a decline to begin in the next decade.  “This presents the challenge of reserve replacement to sustain production and stem the decline,” the report stated “One solution is infrastructure-led exploration (ILX) utilizing increasingly spare infrastructure capacity in the mature Campos and Santos basins to commercialize smaller The market intelligence firm says previously relinquished discoveries could be developed by leveraging existing infrastructure The Campos and Santos basins contain more than 40 fields with more than 3 Bboe in relinquished discoveries.  regulatory agencies play an important role in developing these discovered but relinquished resources,” the report stated “For ILX developments to move forward in these blocks Brazil's National Petroleum Agency (ANP) would need to offer them in future bid rounds or permanent offers regulations around infrastructure sharing need to be developed to ensure efficiency gains across all operators in the region.” Solstad Offshore has won multiple offshore vessel contracts from unnamed clients in Brazil with a combined value approaching $53 million The Normand ultradeepwater discovery in 2006 which has led to the Tupi and Buzios field developments The Santos Basin accounted for 74% of Brazil’s total output in 2023 and Rystad predicts it will contribute 80% by 2030. “However Brazil’s output is projected to decline by an average of 10% annually through 2050,” the report stated The Campos Basin “dominated Brazil’s offshore sector before the presalt developments,” Rystad reported The basin has been producing for more than 45 years nine platforms at the Marlim Field were replaced in 2023 by two new FPSOs as part of a revitalization program Several previously producing wells will be reconnected to the Anita Garibaldi and Anna Nery FPSOs which are designed to be able to sustain higher water cuts due to their higher water processing capacity which DUQUE DE CAXIAS, Brazil — Specialists stood over intubated patients in the intensive care unit, reviewing charts and jotting down notes. They conversed in low voices, barely audible amid the incessant beeps from patients’ monitors. “People are coming from all over,” José Carlos de Oliveira, health secretary for the city of Duque de Caxias, told The Associated Press in the hospital’s parking lot. The Sao Jose facility was just inaugurated, on May 4, and already 90% of its 128 beds are occupied. Less than a week after the World Health Organization declared a pandemic, the city of Duque de Caxias bought a private hospital and began racing to transform it into an intensive care facility exclusively for treatment of COVID-19 patients. Associated Press video journalist Yesica Fisch reported this story in Duque de Caxias and AP writer Diane Jeantet reported from Rio de Janeiro. Text description provided by the architects. The house is located in an urban hillside of villas facing a privileged view of the West Jamor Valley. Given the slope, the house presents two ends in contrast: the West side, with an almost nonexistent façade with a gradual entry into the house and the East side is a fully opened object facing the lovely valley. the house is hardly perceived from the road revealing itself as an exception to the street morphology: a plot without a house You'll now receive updates based on what you follow Personalize your stream and start following your favorite authors If you have done all of this and still can't find the email A thug stormed onto a pitch to kick a player at the end of a dramatic Brazilian football match on Sunday - all while carrying a young child in his arms. The brazen attack was captured by television cameras after a mass brawl broke out at the end of the contest between Internacional and Caxias. Caxias, a team based in Caxias do Sul in southern Brazil, had just beaten Internacional, from Porto Alegre, on penalties - sparking the disgraceful scenes. As the Caxias player put the ball past the goalkeeper and celebrated the winner by cupping his hands to his ears, the footage shows the Estadio Beira-Rio - Internacional's home stadium - erupting in anger. Internacional players and team staff can be seen chasing the Caxias players around the ground, cheered on by their baying home supporters, all while stewards meekly attempt to bring the escalating situation under control.  Several clashes between the rival players and staff are seen breaking out across the pitch and the sidelines, with punches and kicks flying in from all directions.  A number of players from both teams are shown being taken to the ground. As the cameras zoom in on one particular flash point, one fan is seen carrying a young girl - presumed to be his daughter - on to the pitch, wading into the fray with seemingly little consideration for the safety of the child. As stewards attempt to hold him back, the Internacional fan walks up behind a Caxias player who is facing the other way.  The player is helping another who is seen clutching his face, his nose visibly wound having been struck in the mass brawl. Suddenly, the furious thug kicks up powerfully between the other player's legs. Two teammates of the Caxias player rush in to defend him, but quickly realise that the man is carrying the young girl - and hesitate, seemingly out of confusion. One of the players is seen trying to warn the other angry teammates about the young girl, and the trio are able to restrain themselves from going after the thug. The footage cuts to another on-pitch camera, which zooms in on the man's face. With a furious look in his eyes, he is seen being dragged away by three stewards.  The young girl is visibly terrified as she is buffeted about, as the man is pulled away back towards the stands where he first appeared from. The mass brawl was an acrimonious end to the match that also saw a red card and finished 1-1, before going on to be decided by a penalty shootout. The match was a fixture from the Campeonato Gaúcho, the state football league of the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul - which is separate from Brazil's Série A - the country's top division which Internacional also compete in. Last season, Internacional finished second in Série A - suggesting that Caxias were the underdogs in the hotly-contested fixture. Nevertheless, Caxias came out on top, and will be competing in the final of Campeonato Gaúcho next week. The incident was not the first time a fan from Internacional has been involved in a violent incident. In February last year, a footballer from Gremio - a fierce rival  to Internacional - has taken to hospital after being hit in the head by a rock.   Brazil: Thug carrying a child storms onto pitch to WhatsApp remained a daily hard choice for the team members because everything on the menu is so good as what is available back home meat and sausages are some of the delicacies Kenyans continue to enjoy through and through in Brazil’s remote southern town But one man has indeed become an off-the-pitch star attraction not for his magnificent role as a Deaf sign language interpreter for the Deaf athletes but for his terrific cooking skills when matters Ugali fall into place Ali Abdi is the man who has been preparing Ugali for Team Kenya in Caxias do Sul and ensures that Kenya’s staple food isn’t missed by any of the team members they carried sufficient maize flour (unga) for use during the prestigious Games Asked about his new role as a “cook” Abdi narrated: “Ugali symbolizes strength in our culture and it’s also very delicious when eaten with other delicacies It was important for us to have something for ourselves from home that would give us confidence and connect us to home.” Even though the food might be the same as what Kenyans eat back home “Our ugali was just like what we have back home We carried everything we needed to prepare it and we shared it together as a team for team spirit.” The food in Brazil is typically the same as the what is served in Kenya with just a bit of variation in taste and how it’s made here it’s familiar but not quite like home.” Abdi went on Abdi is happy for the level of excitement the team members in Brazil have shown on the days they plan to eat Ugali “Everyone was anticipating all day for dinner time and the players felt even more confident after a good meal of Ugali and stew “And to be honest Ugali is much sweeter on foreign soil than you would expect in Kenya.” Abdi also reveals the fun and enjoyable experience of cooking for his compatriots on foreign soil “It was also my way to extend care and gratitude of the team We wanted to make our Ugali just the same way it is prepared at home Everyone was counting on us to deliver a homemade meal and we did.” Abdi is grateful for the Brazilian hospitality and cuisine we’ve trained in a nearby football pitch and those living within the neighborhood have been very friendly and welcoming.” We’re also fortunate to be hosted by a very warm and welcoming hotel service the hotel manager really takes care of us and has made sure we are comfortable We sometimes take a walk and enjoy the many oranges from the trees in the neighborhood.” The remote nature of Caxius Do Sul has handed the team a unique and enabling environment to concentrate with training Abdi reckons that it’s been a great exposure “The flights were long but they were all anticipating and looking forward to seeing a new country and to participate in the Deaflympics Everyone was hyped especially the first timers who boarded the flight for the first time It was amazing how excited we all were to come to Brazil.” Earlier the team was cooked Ugali by officials and delegates led by MP Makau and Josephine
