Lightning Minerals Ltd delivered a strong March quarter
marked by the commencement of maiden drilling at its flagship Esperança Project in Brazil’s prolific Lithium Valley and positive soil geochemistry results across its broader Brazilian portfolio
The company ended the period with A$1.05 million in cash and is actively planning further exploration at its high-priority targets
The Phase 1 diamond drill program at Esperança began in February 2025
targeting spodumene-bearing pegmatites identified in late 2024
which is continuing beyond the end of the quarter
follows the confirmation of spodumene through Raman spectroscopy
Exploration activity also intensified at the Caraíbas and Canabrava projects
where lithium-in-soil anomalism reached up to 429 parts per million (ppm) and 320ppm respectively – all of which is very promising in terms of the region’s lithium prospectivity
Extensive field mapping and reconnaissance have resulted in multiple drill-ready targets across all three projects
with reverse circulation drilling now being planned at Caraíbas and Canabrava
Lightning collected 59 infill and 78 new primary soil samples at Canabrava
outlining a 700-metre strike length of lithium anomalism that coincides with mapped pegmatites
the company progressed exploration across its Australian and Canadian tenements
At the Dundas North Project in Western Australia
an infill soil sampling program was completed over previously identified lithium anomalism
Lightning engaged consultants to conduct a historical data review for the Dalmas and Hiver lithium projects in Quebec
Exploration expenditure for the quarter totalled A$493,000
primarily directed towards its Brazilian assets
While Lightning did not undertake capital raising during the quarter
it noted that discussions with advisers are underway regarding future funding
Operating cash outflows for the quarter were A$795,000
with the company estimating 1.2 quarters of funding available at current expenditure rates
The company continues to assess opportunities to expand its portfolio and maintain its strategic focus on advancing high-quality lithium assets across tier-one jurisdictions

Portugal is set to return for Junior Eurovision 2024
The country is placing its hopes in Victoria Nicole
who will sing “Esperança.” She is poised to captivate the audience with this touching ballad
is originally from Venezuela but now lives in Portugal with her parents
Her talent for music and television is well-recognised
especially after winning The Voice Kids Portugal
with a standout being her cover of “Voilà” by Barbara Pravi
Victoria began training her voice at the age of five
attending a music academy with the clear dream of becoming a singer
She has performed extensively in both Venezuela and Portugal and has ventured into the theatrical world
she studied piano for five years and ukulele for two
“Esperança,” marks her debut single
signaling the start of an exciting journey in her music career
When it comes to Eurovision and its legendary acts
the iconic band that won Eurovision for Sweden in 1974
The English title of Victoria’s song is “Hope,” and this theme lies at the heart of the song
The lyrics are a blend of Portuguese and Spanish
paying tribute to both Victoria’s Venezuelan roots and the host country of this year’s Junior Eurovision
The song’s message emphasises the importance of hope in fuelling dreams and the belief in brighter days
the song serves as a reminder to take pride in personal progress and to appreciate each day as a gift: “Every day is an achievement/ That at the end of the day/ Fills my heart.” The chorus underscores Victoria’s unwavering belief in her dreams
and her determination to fight each day to make them a reality
such as ignoring those who try to bring you down and persevering when all doors seem closed: “Several doors closed when I tried to enter/ Almost no one trusted me but I did it.” As Victoria notes in the lyrics
she isn’t just singing a song — she’s sharing the story of her life
I need hopeFor a better dayA better lifeFor all my dreams
Every day another mountainThat my soul takes onWithout thinking about tomorrowEvery day is an achievementThat at the end of the dayFills my heart
I believe in my dreamAnd I will fightTo make it happen one day
My heartBelievesIt’s my dreamLet it be
Several doors closed when I tried to enterAlmost no one trusted me but I did itThey say that life is sometimes not how you want itI learned that and it wasn’t even from others
with my dreams and ambitionsAnd one of those dreams is to reach heartsBecause music is not just songsIt’s my story that I sing with lots of love
There will always be wallsBut if you haveHopeYou will overcome themBecause after all
If we want toMake a dream come trueWe have to fight for itEven if there are sleepless nightsTrust yourselfIf you have a dream

Criança Esperança celebrates its 40th anniversary as a social mobilization project that contributes to transforming the lives of thousands of people in Brazil
The project is the result of a visionary initiative by the private company Globo
It has helped the country achieve social change in the agenda of children's rights through an innovative approach that has united a communications giant
The event that kicked off the celebration of the project's four decades brought together individuals who are models of action related to the rights of children and adolescents
The meeting evoked memories of struggle and progress
renewing Criança Esperança's commitment to the social agenda in Brazil.
It is a great joy to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Criança Esperança
the United Nations has recognized it as the most significant social mobilization initiative globally
It summons the willpower of those who want to participate and contribute to changing Brazil's social reality
one of the world's largest communications companies
so that Criança Esperança can consolidate its legacy of building paths towards an inclusive and equitable society
The Director and Representative of UNESCO to Brazil
participated in a meeting to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Criança Esperança project at the auditorium of Estúdios Globo in Rio de Janeiro
UNESCO/Wagner MeierThe event 40 Years of Criança Esperança: Rights
and leaders in actions related to childhood and adolescence in Brazil
The participants recalled the important trajectory and evolution of the project during the three panels of the event: Changing the Paradigm of Child Protection in Brazil
The Contribution of Criança Esperança to Childhood and Youth Policies in Brazil
and Inspiring Speeches: The Voice of Civil Society Organizations
The first panel included Paulo Afonso Garrido
a public prosecutor for the Public Prosecutor's Office of São Paulo state (MPSP)
a professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP)
and a member of the drafting group of the Child and Adolescent Statute (ECA); Patrícia Saboya
an ombudsman for the Court of Auditors of Ceará state (TCE-CE)
and coordinator of the Parliamentary Front in Defence of the Rights of Children and Adolescents from 2003 to 2011; Benedito Rodrigues dos Santos
a professor and researcher at the Advanced Centre for Multidisciplinary Studies at the University of Brasília (CEAM/UnB)
director of the Institute for the Rights of Children and Adolescents (INDICA)
protection networks and the rights of children and adolescents; and Jussara de Goiás
a specialist in the rights of children and adolescents and the rights of minorities
and coordinator of the National Movement of Street Boys and Girls (MNMMR)
Moderated by journalist Flávia Oliveira from GloboNews and O Globo newspaper
"Changing the Paradigm of Child Protection in Brazil," highlighted the pioneering role of Criança Esperança
emphasizing the advances made not only in the country's legislation but also in raising awareness about children's rights in society
"It is a privilege to be here today with colleagues with whom I have shared many struggles
uncovering mysteries and violence to which boys and girls were subjected," said Patrícia Saboya
"Criança Esperança consolidated the understanding that children are subjects of rights
Celebrating the 40th anniversary of Criança Esperança is a moment for reflection
It is time to continue rolling up our sleeves," added the former senator
Criança Esperança gave visibility to the challenges faced by children and adolescents in vulnerable situations and played a crucial role in mobilizing civil society to include Article 227 in the 1988 Federal Constitution
which addresses the comprehensive protection of children and adolescents
This project was also a relevant ally in enacting the Child and Adolescent Statute (ECA) in 1990
Brazilian legislation was governed by the former Juvenile Code
a conservative law based on a tutelary and repressive vision.
“The Child and Adolescent Statute is an expression of a much longer movement to change the status of children in Brazilian society
Children have earned the right to have rights
and Criança Esperança has participated in this,” said Benedito Rodrigues dos Santos
it is because it had popular participation in its elaboration
The jurist recalled that the terminology used by the Criança Esperança project was crucial for the Movement in defence of childhood
as it replaced the term "minor" (meaning underage
which carried a negative bias) with the term "child"
thereby reinforcing children's dignity.
Jussara de Goiás recalled that the MNMMR played a central role in changing governmental and non-governmental policies concerning children and adolescents
this Movement achieved essential achievements in the Brazilian legislature
The Criança Esperança project plays a prominent role in advancing the rights of children
adolescents and youth in Brazil by supporting and giving visibility to innovative experiences of social inclusion developed by CSOs throughout the country
initiatives capable of inspiring public policies that guarantee the exercise of rights
the empowerment of people and the development of capacities
“A fundamental aspect of the project – and the reason for it to be so interesting – is the relevance of work that happens daily
looking to the future to the interest of the nation,” stated the President of Grupo Globo
In the second panel of the event entitled The Contribution of Criança Esperança to Childhood and Youth Policies in Brazil
the project’s achievements were deeply discussed by the Director and Representative of UNESCO to Brazil
Director of Social Value at Globo; and by Reinaldo Bugarelli
educator and consultant inhuman rights and sustainable development
Journalist and presenter Sandra Annenberg from Globo mediated this panel
Marlova Noleto emphasized the significance of CSOs' work in developing and implementing projects alongside the most vulnerable populations in various parts of Brazil
"This project builds new possibilities every day
with these wonderful people who support us
committed to transforming the world into a more just and inclusive place for all," she said
Criança Esperança has already supported over 6,000 social projects
Cristovam Ferrara recalled that the project also helped to build a culture of donation in Brazil
"Criança Esperança has this mission to shed light on a cause that Brazilians can embrace with beautiful and very moving stories," he said
The transformations that the project helped build – whether in consolidating children's rights
and informing the formulation of public policies – was emphasized by all the panellists during the event
a role recognized in the project's design and throughout the development of Criança Esperança
"I believe we can call Criança Esperança a 'movement'
But it is something much bigger that involves the whole of society," said Reinaldo Bulgarelli
"We can say that Criança Esperança has been a project
it is a movement that mobilizes society," said Reinaldo Bulgarelli
Inspiring Speeches: The Voice of Civil Society Organizations
gave the floor to representatives of organizations supported by Criança Esperança
CEO of Favela Holding and founder of Central Única das Favelas (CUFA); Dora Andrade
founder of Escola de Desenvolvimento e Integração Social (EDISCA); musician Carlinhos Brown
founder of Associação Pracatum Ação Social (APAS); and Kátia Ferreira
The panel was moderated by Ronald Pessanha
from Globo's Brand and Social Values area
Each panellist shared their organization's experience
highlighting the impact of Criança Esperança in strengthening their projects and supporting initiatives that transform the lives of children and adolescents in different regions of the country
Although Brazil currently has one of the most advanced legislation for protecting children and adolescents
the daily lives of many children and a large part of youth are still severely marked by social vulnerability
which makes it impossible for this segment of the population to access fundamental rights
the Criança Esperança project has supported social initiatives that advance the fundamental rights agenda for children
with the supportive participation of millions of people and companies that form a network committed to building a fair and sustainable society

Living in the 21st century, it is difficult to measure the extent of the courage, fighting spirit and resistance that led a young
enslaved Black woman to rise up against her masters in the state of Piauí in the 1770s
She wrote a letter to the governor of Piauí at the time – then known as a “capitania” instead of a state – denouncing the mistreatment that she
other Black women and children were suffering at the Algodões Farm
The letter was discovered in 1979 in the Piauí Public Archives by Luiz Roberto de Barros Mott
a retired professor at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA
Experts consider the document to be a habeas corpus petition
It is most likely that she learned to write from Jesuit priests who catechized Black and Indigenous people in the region
At the request of the Black movements in Piauí
the date on which Esperança wrote the letter
became the State Day of Black Consciousness in Piauí
Following a request from the Truth Commission on Black Slavery in Piauí
the local branch of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB-PI) recognized Esperança as the first female lawyer in the state
Garcia was nationally recognized by Brazil’s equivalent of the American Bar Association as the country’s first female lawyer

a professor at the State University of Piauí (UESPI
Moura was part of the commission that drafted the request for Esperança to be recognized as a lawyer

the 18th-century letter deals with the reality of enslaved women on the Algodões farm
“I am a female married slave of Your Lordship from the administration of Captain Antônio Vieira do Couto
Ever since the captain came to run the estate
There is a storm of aggressions against a child of mine
which have caused blood to flow from his mouth
I can't explain the fact that I'm a mattress of blows
so much so that I once fell down a flight of stairs
I and my partners have been unconfessed for three years
And a child of mine and two others have yet to be baptized
I mean tell the procurator to send me to the farm where he took me from so that I can live with my husband and baptize my daughter.”

Esperanca Almeida was awarded a special trophy for coming out to participate in sports for the first time
And she bagged second place in Goa Para Table Tennis Championship 2025
and she experienced the joy of winning and being appreciated for her skills
but every challenge has only made me stronger.”
Esperanca’s challenge began when she was less than a year old
Her parents narrated the incident of her getting burnt by hot ash
They told me that I got accidentally burnt when I was just nine-months-old
I accidently put my hands in the hot ash in the liquor bhatti
My parents took me to the hospital and the doctor admitted me
one of the nurses began to cut my burnt skin
and in the process my small veins and nerves got cut
My little finger was also cut off without my parent’s permission
my wrist got bent and there was lack of growth in my left hand
which remained short and the remaining four fingers became crooked
there were five surgeries done on my hand but all in vain
In those days there was not much awareness about plastic surgery,” explains Esperanca
Esperanca’s parents decided not to do any operation on the hand in Goa
“When I was eight I spoke to my parents about the surgery
we approached a surgeon from a private hospital in Mumbai
The doctor told that the surgery would cost around Rs 40 lakh
The doctors tried to straighten my wrist and bent fingers
They tried to make it look like a hand,” recalls Esperanca who now uses her left hand 40 per cent for computer typing
as little Esperanca could not hold anything in her left hand
Holding a school bag was a struggle and she managed to do it with great difficulty
Children teased her seeing her crooked hand
Doing everything with one hand was a challenge for the little girl
and decided to do some job and earn to support the family
But who would give a job to a person with only one working hand
“My struggles began when my husband and I were asked to leave our home
we had no choice but to move into a rented house
my husband’s earnings were not enough to cover our rent and daily expenses
but my husband refused to stay with my family and instead went to live with his sister
When her daughter started going to first standard
“My career started at Hotel Oberoi at Bogmalo in the laundry department for six years
Later I tried working at an industry in Verna
I refused to give up,” asserts Esperanca who took a daily wage job on a temporary basis for six months at the Indian Navy
and faces no difficulties at her workplace
“My family has always supported me in difficult times
I have a few close friends – two from my school days and one at my workplace – who have also been part of my journey,” she quips
Teachers played a crucial role in shaping Esperanca’s life and she takes pride to admit that
Nandani teacher and Shashank sir guided me
Oscar Gonsalves was my biggest support during my secondary school years
People should always encourage and support those with disabilities
but with determination and the right support
This is my story – a journey of resilience
and success,” concludes this 51-year-old single mother whose daughter works for a Dubai-based five-star hotel and who recently sponsored her pleasure trip to Dubai and both enjoyed a dinner at Burj Khalifa

The lead environment artist even used his own vacation photos as inspiration for Esperança
During a recent press preview for Overwatch 2
Art Director Dion Rogers explained that the team’s lead environment artist is from Portugal
so it lends a robust air of authenticity to the design — especially when they used the artist’s own vacation photos as references for certain parts of the map
A number of Portuguese dev team members also helped to define “what’s great about the culture” so they could pinpoint “the right things to build architecture-wise.” As is the case with most maps in the game
Rogers says they purposefully explore within the dev team to draw real-life inspiration from the cultures represented
“We always want Overwatch to feel like this globe-trotting adventure that goes to somewhat unexpected places,” Rogers said
“We’ve found some of our best maps come from when we have a person from the team that’s actually from the location
It feels like we capture the immersion a little bit better than when we don’t have a person from the area.”
The Overwatch team even sent a sound team to Portugal to capture ambient noise
they also captured various visual references including architecture
“I was surprised when I heard the Portuguese language from one of the rooms,” said Hero Designer Piero Herrera
it just made me feel that integration with the environment just because of the language.”
Esperança may look like a picturesque vacation spot with its bright blues and whites and various mosaic patterns — but it’s also a battlefield
Esperança is one of several new maps that helps introduce the “Push” game mode
along with New Queen Street (Toronto) and Colosseo (Rome)
Push is a sort of double-sided variation of the classic Escort game mode
one attacking team must deliver a payload to the defending team’s base
attack and defense swap in the second round — whoever accomplishes their goal fastest wins
both teams fight for control of a robot that literally pushes a payload back and forth across the map’s central passageways
Rogers notes that Esperança has a “neat gradual incline” with plenty of opportunities for “flanking and sniper action.”
The Overwatch team prioritizes balance with its designs
Starting points are similar to Control maps where neither teams have a firm advantage over the other given the distance from the robot
He also emphasizes the need for multiple avenues to return to the robot
“The map is a little bit more ‘Swiss cheese-like,’” says Rogers
“You have to have a lot of openings for players to return to the robot as quickly as possible.”
In the original tests where there were fewer openings
the team found players died more easily because they needed to run on open ground for 30 seconds to reach the robot
“We needed to come up with a way to design the map that there are lots of ways to return to the robot,” says Rogers
There’s a lot of cover and ways for players to mitigate any overly flanking heroes.”
The Overwatch development team purposefully designed Esperança as a cultural marvel and a fair fight
Whether or not it’s a paradise for you depends on if you master the new Push mode
Nigerian champions Rangers were eliminated from the CAF Champions League by Angola’s Sagrada Esperanca on Sunday
Rangers lost the second preliminary round reverse tie 3-1
The Flying Antelopes exited the competition 3-2 on aggregate
The country’s other representative in the competition
Nigerian clubs have failed to reach the lucrative group stage of the competition in recent years

The Óscar Ribas Institute and Teacher’s Training College – Garcia Neto – were not just brick and mortar for the Angolan Paralympic vision impaired athlete Esperança Gicasso - it’s ‘the world’ for her
It was at Óscar Ribas that the 28-year-old began and completed her primary and secondary school
was introduced to Para athletics by the school principal and is now working as a full-time teacher for eight and nine-year olds
but her hopes of completing secondary education looked as far from becoming a reality as her burgeoning sports career
When Esperança signed the Paralympics sponsorship agreement with bp Angola in 2011
little did she know that this would transform her life for ever
Esperança was 19 years old and had just joined grade 11 at the Teacher’s Training Institute in Luanda
one of Angola's leading inclusion education establishments
“Coming from a humble background and a society that normally pays scant attention to people with a disability
meant that I needed to fight harder to realise my dreams,” said Esperança at the signing ceremony 10 years ago
Her determination to win was greater than the partial blindness that overshadowed her dreams of becoming a Paralympic athlete and a successful teacher; but signing that contract has brought remarkable successes on and off the track
It was thanks to Paralympic International Partner bp that Esperança could afford completing her degree in Pedagogy at the Metropolitan Polytechnic Institute of Angola
I am passing on knowledge to the students and
I really like my job; it prepares students for life," she said
Gicasso teaches several subjects; from Portuguese to mathematics
passing through geography and natural sciences
Until the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent quarantine
Gicasso used to walk the 800m that separates her home from the Óscar Ribas Institute for students with vision impairment; working in the same classrooms where she used to be a student
Technology has played a big part in her development as a teacher
“Now everything is much easier,” she explained
“Braille is no longer used in universities
But we continue to teach it (Braille) to children from the age of six because then they will have to use it in the street
eight silvers and five bronze across multiple competitions
Looking back on the events in which she has taken part
she singles out the 2017 World Championships in London as the most special
“I so vividly remember that day when I won a silver and a bronze medal," she said
"I’m still not sure how I managed to achieve that
having taken part both in Rio 2016 and London 2012
Her laurels have been drawing a lot of media attention and with that
my students know that Professor Esperança is an athlete because one day they saw me on TV and they said ‘Professor Esperança
and they know their teacher runs too,” she said
confident that Para sport can have the same positive impact on her students as it had on her
I was able to meet people from other countries and have a great intellectual development
I also acquired many skills and lost preconceptions I had about myself
I used to be very insecure and thanks to Para sports I am a more confident person.”
As classes were interrupted due to the pandemic
Esperança spends her time training at home
reading the Bible and listening to love songs from Angolan artist Anselmo Ralph
is concerned with the environment and wants to inspire others through her success in sport
“Becoming a bp Paralympic Athlete Ambassador has paved the way for my success in so many avenues," she admitted
"I have been able to compete in world level championships
thereby coming into contact with different cultures
and at the same time completing my degree in education
I believe this sponsorship will also support my further integration to wider societal affairs.”
NPFL champions Enugu Rangers will now have to go past Sagrada Esperance of Angola to reach the money-spinning group stage of the CAF Champions League
Rangers scraped past US Zilimadjou from Comoros 2-1 on aggregate in the first preliminary round
while Esperanca saw off St Louis Sun United of Seychelles 4-0 on aggregate
while the return leg will be a week later in Angola
The overall winners will march on to the group stage of the annual competition
