“French-style” balcony It’s a bit of a stretch to call it a balcony but by lowering the expansive window halfway down it lends a delightful indoor/outdoor feel to the whole cabin mini-fridge and personal climate control complete the picture A thoughtful addition is the wall of wooden hooks near the cabin door for hanging jackets Having only one bedside table instead of the standard two is a missed detail market-fresh fish – the best of the Douro Valley is within plucking distance for chef Andrei Tirca plus an “always available” selection of favourites There’s an early-riser or late-riser than ever before It’s a mighty long one but ever so slightly more interesting than being stuck on one of Elon Musks spaceships to Mars with only Katy Perry and a bunch of investment bankers for company we’re off to shake our backsides and shimmy along with some aliens at the space disco that’s the beauty of instrumental music like this You can make any old shit up and someone will dig it Let’s get down for the next 49 minutes (yep It’s like an album within an album!) to the crazy space sounds of our hosts Douglas Adam’s would be proud and have them as the warm up act to Disaster Area live at the restaurant at the end of the universe that initial burst of photon energy can’t last for the whole of the album within an album and soon it slopes off into a lovingly crafted psych funk odyssey Alotta Hella down in Estrela by Øresund Space Collective The next track will probably see you to Venus at least as it expands ever outwards into the nebula More Spock on mushrooms than HAL on cocaine its undulating course never once sending you to the cryogenic sleep chamber This is the sound of space pirates heading through clusters of stars whilst simultaneously looking for green skinned aliens to share your space tobacco with the fun can’t last forever and the second half of our journey takes us into more serious noodling territory with Weberian Bass taking on a more esoteric approach inexorable fall swallowing you into a splendidly far out finale Imagine if this lot bumped into Ozric Tentacles on their quest into outer space that’s what you get with Tangled Foot Badger We’re no longer grooving and jiving along the space corridors of power You feel like you’ve been here a lifetime yet only 6 minutes of time has passed and distorted beyond all manner of recognition it’s unsure who would actually sit this whole journey out in one sitting aside from this crazy reviewer but we are here now 9 minutes have passed (there’s another 18 minutes to go) You may as well spark up that space tobacco if you have any left After all that you really do need something to come back down to earth either and just maybe Echoes Ambientic will do that for you After sitting through nearly two hours of music adrift in your space capsule far above the world ground control is calling for some solid ground There may not be much of that on offer but it is a rather pleasant end to what has mostly been a splendid trip Regular visitor? The initial one-year loan deal -- which will run through to June 2025 -- was announced on Wednesday and will primarily see Asis feature for both Estrela's B and Under-23 sides although it was said that he would be closely monitored by the senior team The 20-year-old came through the ranks of the Sailors after joining their academy in 2020 and has since made five Singapore Premier League appearances while regularly featuring in the match-day squad of a star-studded team that were champions back in 2021 Asis will be exposed to a creditable level of football even if he does not immediately break into Estrela's first team with the reserves playing fourth-tier football while the U-23s were champions of the top-level national youth league in the 2022-23 season It was the Sailors who sent him on a series of trials in Portugal at the end of last year which eventually led to negotiations with Estrela after he was said to have caught the eye of several local scouts "That is what I've been aiming for since I started kicking a ball and it still feels surreal to be at a top Portuguese club," said Asis "I'm really grateful to everyone who made this move possible especially my coaches at the Sailors academy They've made me a better player and are the reason I'm able to make this next step in my career "I'm really excited to wear the Estrela shirt and can't wait to get started with the team." With just five Singapore Premier League appearances under his belt Nur Muhammad Asis' raw potential has seen him earn a move to Europe after joining Portugal's Estrela da Amadora on a one-year loan deal. Lion City Sailors FCSailors technical director Luka Lalić who first crossed paths with Asis when he coached the latter as a seven-year-old has backed his protégé to make an impact in Europe Even when he was just seven or eight years old he would often talk about his dream of playing in Europe one day," Lalić recalled including the passing of his father earlier this year he's now ready to showcase his talents on a larger stage He just needs the right environment to advance his development and Estrela is certainly an excellent place for that." "Winning the Liga Revelação U-23 last year is a testament to the strength of our youth development programme which is dedicated to investing in young international talents like Asis," said Estrela sporting director José Faria "I'm extremely confident that Estrela provides the most conducive environment for a young talent from Singapore to succeed and we look forward to contributing to his development here "Asis has huge potential to achieve big things in football so we're happy to have him with us and we want him to work as hard as he can over here." While Asis is yet to win his first senior cap for Singapore he has featured at the highest age-group level having been part of the side that competed in the qualifiers for the most recent edition of the AFC U-23 Asian Cup Snow has fallen again in the central massif of Serra da Estrela and led to the closure of several sections of the National Road (EN) 339 between Piornos (Covilhã) and Portela do Arão (Seia) 12 (Torre-Torre) and 13 (Portela do Arão-Torre) have been closed since 7:10 pm on Monday due to snowfall There is still no forecast for the reopening of the road,” a source from the Sub-regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command of Beiras and Serra da Estrela told Lusa news agency The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) had predicted snowfall at the highest points of the Serra da Estrela dropping the altitude to 1,400/1,600 metres at the end of this Monday IPMA maintains the forecast of snowfall in the highlands of the northern and central interior lowering the level to 800/1000 meters in altitude in the extreme north until early morning A slight drop in temperature and the formation of ice or frost are also expected in some places in the northeast of Trás-os-Montes and Beira Alta « Back On Sunday Estrela host Farense in Amadora in a relegation six-pointer It is a rerun of one of the most unlikely Portuguese Cup finals ever played PortuGOAL’s resident football historian Miguel Lourenço Pereira takes us on another trip down memory lane A second-tier side against a team that had just landed in the top tier It was the most unexpected Portuguese Cup final you could imagine and you got two for the price of one!  A Bola cover the day after the first match that ended Estrela 1-1 Farense after extra time In 1989/90 Portuguese football went nuts as the Big Three and the usual contenders to win the Cup were sent home one by one the Jamor stadium became the stage for a showdown between newcomers Estrela da Amadora and the Algarve’s most successful side A tie so tight that it needed a replay to separate the teams A feast for those who particularly enjoy placing themselves against all that modern football stands for.  When Tirsense travelled to das Antas to put Porto to the sword the last representative of the Big Three was dumped out of the Cup final but more so as it was only the round of sixteen of the competition Both Benfica and Sporting had already been knocked out of the tournament in the previous rounds Vitória SC and Belenenses were seen as the clear favourites having recently played the final – and in the case of the Restelo boys won it – but they too were beaten in the semis by two football clubs who had little to no history to show for in Portuguese football up to that moment the duel between Beira-Mar and Campomaiorense would probably be cited by Portuguese football fans as more of an underdog final none of them were playing on the second tier at the time Estrela had only recently been promoted for the first time ever to the top flight Imagine something like a Casa Pia versus Penafiel today and you’ll somehow get the picture of what happened once the semi-finals were done and the football nation braced itself for an unexpected showpiece.  it was a festive atmosphere at Jamor for the traditional season-ending showpiece occasion - twice!  A terror for journalists who didn’t know how to pitch it to bigger audiences and for the organisation who panicked at the prospect of having empty seats at the Jamor stadium for the last big game of the season especially because it was being broadcast as well by state TV channel Estrela were seen as favourites but only because they played first-division football at the time. They had ousted Vitória in a tense semi-final and had a team full of seasoned players such as Duílio Rebelo and upcoming future internationals like Paulo Bento and yet the side led by João Alves finished only 13th in the league table a meagre seven points above the drop zone and almost twenty shy of Vitória Not only had their historical local rival from the Algarve Portimonense just been relegated to the second tier but they also got themselves promoted as the league was increased to 20 teams during that summer the former Barcelona player turned manager after having spent the final years of his footballing career in southern Portugal would become an iconic figure for the club and a heartwarming manager if ever there was one in his day The team comprised low-profile players and a big Brazilian contingent with the likes of Pitico Mané and Ricardo helping the club reach both the Primeira Liga and the Cup final in the same season They would later be famed for incorporating several players from Morocco and eastern Europe but only the Yugoslavian goalkeeper Zoran Lemajic was in the side during the 1989/90 season Nobody knew then but this was going to be a two-part drama Jamor filled up with supporters from both sides thousands came to celebrate a historic feat of Portuguese football with the fact Amadora was right next door to Oeiras certainly helping as well Alves had most of his key players available and sent a side in full force with Melo in goal For Farense Forte’s favourite starting eleven also was selected for the match with the Yugoslavian keeper playing alongside Eugénio Neither side were glamorous or had high-profile players but what they lacked in flair they made up for in commitment by the bucketload the match became a contest of which side could hold their nerve better and without many goal-scoring chances the game unsurprisingly moved to extra-time Estrela scored the opener through substitute Nélson Borges A low shot from outside of the box whistled past Lemajic’s stretched arms and nestled in the net There was still almost half an hour of football to play but many believed the task was done Farense became known during the 1990s for their fighting spirit and that was already well perceived during the Cup run of that season a cross into the box was met with confusion by players from all sides until Cruz found a way to shoot exactly to the same spot that Borges had sent his shot Melo was unable to block the ball and the game was tied There were only three minutes left on the clock both sides knew that an extra match was due to be played in the coming days and they went at each other’s throats for the dying seconds but to no avail The Portuguese Federation now had an issue in its hands The game needed to be scheduled within the same week but many supporters from both sides couldn’t afford another trip or even the ticket for the rematch so the atmosphere around the replay was startlingly different to the first match A Bola gave a gushing individual player rating to Paulo Bento “In our opinion the major player of the final was always the first to push his team on the attack was always the first to help out defending when Farense countered Owing to his influence he had a man-marker on him all game but the young player always had the knowhow and ability to free himself from his adversaries A great triumph for a player with a promising future.” Estrela appeared to be more in control than they had ever been during the previous matchday and Paulo Bento opened the scoring within the half-hour The future Portugal international and national team manager despite being just 20 years old at the time was a key player in that Estrela midfield machine and was later yellow-carded for a foul typical of his rugged style of play It was in the 62nd minute and as the match restarted Estrela immediately won the ball back and Ricardo Lopes netted the second goal of the afternoon This time there would be no comeback for Fortes’ men the Tricolour side from Amadora never lost control of the action and as the final whistle was heard at the Jamor supporters and players celebrated in ecstasy Estrela were nothing but a suburban Lisbon club with no history or capacity to compete against the bigger sides both from white Portuguese who lived in what were the nation’s colonies back in the day – the so-called retornados – but also from black African communities coming from Mozambique Cape Verde and Guinea had transformed the town completely boosting it with new life and a reinvigorated attitude That eventually transpired into the local football club and the Reboleira ground became alive with this injection of ambition and fearless attitude that allowed Estrela to climb the ranks all the way up to the First Division Winning the Cup was unexpected but also the reward for this newfound community and the club would be taking part in the following season’s Cup Winners Cup and despite being declared bankrupt in the new millennium they recently resurfaced under a new banner and have established themselves once again at the top table who also suffered almost two decades of ignominy but since have once again tasted the flavour of the country’s football elite The two matches characterised the spirit and ethos of both clubs and how Portuguese football was still something that seems that have been lost recently 3 June 1990 will forever be the day when the underdogs definitively prevailed By Miguel Lourenço Pereria, author of “Bring Me That Horizon – A Journey to the Soul of With 36 appearances and just one assist, Bento never really got his shot to prove himself with the Red Bulls’ first team. Did he truly get the chance he deserved? Or is the MLS system dropping the ball when it comes to nurturing young talent? The Red Bulls, of course, are chasing their 15th consecutive playoff appearance, trying to keep their competitive edge in MLS. But this relentless pursuit of immediate success might be costing them in the long run. Players like Bento, who should be groomed for stardom, end up on the sidelines—no game time, no real chance to shine. Instead of fostering these young talents, the system often opts for seasoned players who can deliver quick results. So, what happens next? They leave. And Bento Estrela is now en route to Lisbon, joining one of Portugal’s most storied clubs, Sporting. This is no small move. Sporting has a knack for turning young talents into global superstars. Just look at Cristiano Ronaldo, who started there before conquering the world. If there’s a place where Bento can finally realize his full potential, it’s at Sporting. The transfer of the promising Portuguese midfielder marks a new chapter for the Red Bulls once a promising talent from Flamengo who honed his skills at Portugal's Estrela Amadora But here’s the kicker: it’s not just about his talent The real intrigue lies in the percentages and the tug-of-war over who gets the biggest slice of the pie The transfer of young Igor Jesus to LA Galaxy is shaping up to be anything but boring LA Galaxy snagged 90% of the player’s economic rights keeping 10% for a potential payday down the line what does holding onto such a small slice of a player across the Atlantic really mean If you’re not familiar with the inner workings of soccer deals dividing economic rights can sound as complicated as rocket science Clubs worldwide are constantly trading percentages of players like stocks on Wall Street Flamengo cashed out and washed their hands of the whole thing decided to roll the dice and hold on to their 10% and Igor’s value could skyrocket in a few years holding onto 10% of a player now an ocean away is risky that 10% might end up worth less than a ticket to a preseason friendly comes with that shiny "Brazilian talent" label and snapping up South American players is part of the plan to make the MLS more competitive But Igor isn’t just another name on a list He’s carrying the weight of big expectations It’s not every day an American club shells out $4 million for someone who’s still flying under the radar The Brazilian giant has always been sharp at spotting talent it’s the habit of selling players too soon Igor Jesus didn’t even have the chance to become a household name in Rio making a name for himself at Estrela Amadora especially considering Flamengo already cashed out But with the way Brazilian player values are soaring Maybe Igor could’ve brought in double or even triple that amount he’s hitting one of the most critical stages of his career The Galaxy won’t just want results; they’ll demand them The MLS might not have the same pressure as Europe’s big leagues Igor will need to show he’s more than just a percentage split between clubs Whether he becomes a star in the MLS or just another forgotten name has cashed out and moved on without much of a backward glance ","https://fansided.com/",{"alt":"7a","src":"7b","url":"7c"},{"type":"79","value":"7d"},"link","Minute Media","https://www.minutemedia.com/",{"text":"7g","url":"7h"},{"type":"7f","value":"7i"},"All Rights Reserved and the Backstage Drama No One Tells You About Start TimeData SkriveSporting Lisbon (currently first in the Primeira Liga) plays at Estrela Amadora (15th) at Estadio Jose Gomes in Amadora on Saturday at 2:00 PM ET Sporting earned a 3-1 victory at home against FC Famalicao taking 19 shots and outshooting FC Famalicao by 11 Estrela Amadora suffered a 2-0 road loss to Vitoria Guimarares while registering seven fewer shots than Vitoria Guimarares here's everything you need to know about Saturday's soccer action The new music video, for the track ESTRELA, is taken from the Baltimore-based hardcore band’s upcoming debut album, ETHEREAL which is scheduled to be released in March this year “this song has been written (lyrically) for a while and I was on a heavy BILLIE HOLLIDAY kick at the time ‘angels have no thoughts of ever returning you – would they be angry if I thought of joining you?’ so there’s an ode to that in ESTRELA rather than being complacent in your shit life.” Watch the official music video for ESTRELA here:  ETHEREAL is set for release on March 28th via Flatspot Records.
