USA; Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy (1) makes a catch against Buffalo Bills cornerback Rasul Douglas (31) during the first half in the AFC Championship game at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.Mark J
Those were all necessary piecs for Brian Flores' defense
even though he doesn't prioritize getting elite players at thos positions
Other than keeping those players, the biggest signing that general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mesnah made was to bolster the secondary was cornerback Isaiah Rodgers on a two-year contract worth up to $15 million
Douglas is coming off a disappointing season in which he ranked 102nd out of 116 qualifying cornerbacks with a 53.9 PFF overall grade
earning a career-best 81.0 PFF overall grade in 2023.The eight-year veteran has been a ballhawk in the NFL
recording at least seven pass breakups in six different seasons and picking off 14 passes from 2021-2023
Durability is a positive in Douglas’ game
He has averaged 984 snaps per season since 2022.The Vikings will need to replace Stephon Gilmore
and Douglas is a natural fit in defensive coordinator Brian Flores’ aggressive
Minnesota had just five draft picks in the draft
suggesting the team was confident it could address its cornerback depth through free agency
Adding a cornerback is a good idea for the Vikings
especially since the room is currently unproven
but it would likely come down to what his cost would be.
Would it be smart for the Vikings to pay Douglas upward of $4-6 million
but that is likely what he would end up costing
adding a piece is something that many will end up predicting will happen until it does

The illegal immigrant at the center of the controversial arrest of a Wisconsin judge is accused of smashing a person's face 30 times in a dispute about loud music
The violent incident is just one in a 'laundry list' of charges against Eduardo Flores-Ruiz, a Mexican citizen, according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement or ICE.
appeared in front of Wisconsin County Judge Hannah Dugan on April 18 to face claims he left his roommate and his girlfriend in the hospital after the alleged assault
ICE agents who were there to arrest the illegal immigrant claim Dugan let Flores-Ruiz slip out a side door
Friday, FBI agents arrested Dugan for interfering with the case
revealing that Ruiz entered the US illegally twice and has a history of strangulation
activist judges have tried to obstruct President Trump and the American people’s mandate to make America safe and secure our homeland— but this judge’s actions to shield an accused violent criminal illegal alien from justice is shocking and shameful,' DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin
Flores-Ruiz is charged with three counts of misdemeanor battery for a March 12 beat down involving three people
A request for Flores-Ruiz to turn down the volume by his roommate prompted Flores-Ruiz to punch the man 30 times with a closed fist, reported the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
The roommate's girlfriend was brutally forced into the kitchen and was hit on her head and arm, while a third victim was also assaulted while trying to stop calm Flores-Ruiz, WISN-TV reported
The Mexican had been renting a room in the Milwaukee home for about two years
The resident expressed fearing Flores-Ruiz even now and asked the local station not to show their face or name them
'His friends know me and know that he lived here,' the scared resident said in Spanish through an interpreter Friday
'They know me and that's why I'm afraid something can happen to me.'
Flores-Ruiz plead not guilty to the charges
The same publication detailed how Dugan stepped in to stop ICE from taking Flores-Ruiz into custody after his April 18 court hearing
six ICE agents showed up the courthouse and identified themselves
presenting a warrant for the suspect's arrest
'They were asked whether they had a warrant, and the agents presented the warrant as well as their identification,' Chief Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Carl Ashley revealed in an email obtained by the newspaper
'They were asked to go to Chief Judge's office
Ashley says the federal agents respected a request to wait for Flores-Ruiz's hearing to be over before they moved in
While ICE officials were speaking to the chief judge on the same floor as Flores-Ruiz's hearing
Judge Dugan let the suspect and his lawyer use a side door which took them down a private hallway and into the public area on the 6th floor
Six federal agents waited outside of Dugan's courtroom
One officer caught Flores-Ruiz and his attorney leaving and followed them into an elevator while calling for back up
Flores-Ruiz tried to run away from the feds but was caught after a brief chase
'Judge Dugan intentionally misdirected ICE agents away from this criminal illegal alien to obstruct the arrest and try to help him evade arrest. Thankfully, our FBI partners chased down this illegal alien, arrested him and removed him from American communities,' ICE stated April 25 after Dugan's arrest.
FBI agents returned to the same courthouse on April 25 to take Dugan into custody Friday, according to the US Marshals Service.
Dugan appeared briefly in federal court in Milwaukee later on Friday before being released from custody.
She faces charges of 'concealing an individual to prevent his discovery and arrest' and obstructing or impeding a proceeding.
Her attorney Craig Mastantuono said: 'Judge Dugan wholeheartedly regrets and protests her arrest. It was not made in the interest of public safety.'

This criminal illegal alien has a laundry list of violent criminal charges including strangulation and suffocation, battery

RIVER HILLS — It's the season of college acceptances for high schoolers around the country
And one student from Milwaukee got an acceptance that will maybe change the rest of his life
“I’m going to Princeton University, which I’m really excited about," Saul Flores, a senior at the University School of Milwaukee
“The scholarship includes basically everything
and any miscellaneous costs I might have attending the school," Flores said
The assistance also covers food for all four years
It's almost like the school wrote him a blank check to attend
Flores' financial aid basically covers everything outside of his own non-school-related purchases
The financial aid amounts to hundreds of thousands of dollars in assistance. According to the Princeton website
Flores said he wouldn't have been able to attend without this generous scholarship
“It’s taken off a huge financial burden from my family
which I’m really appreciative about," he said
so it’s just nice seeing it all pay off," he said
he didn’t have as much parental support since his parents never went through that process
I had to look at other places for that support and for that help," Flores said
That’s where his USM college guidance counselor was able to help
“He was one of those students who had the grades
had the extracurriculars where he was going to be competitive," Brian Hendricks
the Associate Director of College Guidance at USM
That made him an easy student to pick for Princeton
I’m just so proud of everything he’s accomplished and what he’s going to accomplish now
being able to go to a school like Princeton," Flores said
or operations research and financial engineering
“I’m interested in those topics just because I really love math," he said
But before Flores steps onto the Ivy League campus
the second-semester senior still has one last thing to do in high school: finish finals

Former Rep. Mayra Flores, a Republican who is the first Mexican-born woman to serve in Congress, announced on Tuesday that she has switched districts to challenge Rep. Henry Cuellar
in 2026 as Cuellar awaits the start of his criminal trial
Less than three hours after her campaign launched on social media
Flores’ team announced that the former congresswoman has been hospitalized
“We pray that Mayra will return stronger than ever
ready to continue her unwavering commitment to serving our country,” the team wrote on X
Flores has been discharged from the hospital
according to a sister who responded to questions from The Texas Tribune
A statement Tuesday evening from the campaign said that Flores is “now fully recovering and feeling stronger than ever” and will be back on the campaign trail soon
These statements did not provide additional details
represented Texas’s 34th district for about six months after she won a special election in June 2022
She lost her reelection in November 2022 to Rep. Vicente Gonzalez
The pair ran against each other again in 2024 — when Flores lost by less than three percentage points
Flores said she is “fighting for a better future for the children of South Texas,” and listed her top campaign issues including securing the border
strengthening the economy and giving parents choices regarding their children’s education
“This campaign is driven by a love for our country and a commitment to fight for justice
The Justice Department indicted Cuellar, 69, on charges of alleged bribery, money laundering and working on behalf of the Azebaijani government and a Mexican Bank. The indictment
alleges that Cuellar accepted almost $600,000 bribes in return for his influence from December 2014 through November 2021
His trial is scheduled to begin in September
The congressman has maintained his innocence and has said that his actions are consistent with those of his congressional colleagues
Cuellar, who represents the 28th district, won his reelection in 2024, by just under six percentage points, after the Republican party did little to raise money for or advertise their candidate
However, the National Republican Congressional Committee placed Cuellar’s seat on a list of 26 target “pick-up opportunities” in the 2026 midterm election as the party aims to grow its slim majority in the House of Representatives

Eduardo Flores-Ruiz, the man who federal prosecutors say got help to escape from Milwaukee County Judge Hannah Dugan
ran from federal agents outside the courthouse before he was eventually caught and arrested
according to documents that provide new details of the incident
is charged in federal court with illegally re-entering the U.S
Dugan was charged April 25 with two federal counts for her role in the incident
The judge appeared in the same federal courtroom and before the same federal judge as Flores-Ruiz
at the Arizona border in 2013 and returned to the U.S
He has been in Milwaukee for about 12 years
according to minutes of the April 24 hearing
According to documents filed in federal court:
Flores-Ruiz was charged on March 18 in Milwaukee County with three counts of misdemeanor battery and spent five days in jail before he was released under a signature bond
Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents learned of the charges against Flores-Ruiz and confirmed through fingerprints that he was in the U.S
A team of six federal agents went to the state courthouse on April 18 to arrest Flores-Ruiz
who was appearing in Dugan's court on the battery charges
Flores-Ruiz and his attorney learned that ICE agents were planning to arrest him
Dugan is charged with helping Flores-Ruiz evade arrest by letting him and his attorney exit her courtroom by a different door
A Drug Enforcement Administration agent spotted the pair leaving and followed them
Law enforcement agents spotted Flores-Ruiz and chased him for more than a block
He was caught and arrested near North 10th Street and West State Street
Flores-Ruiz's attorney Martin Pruhs asked that his client be released
saying he is not a danger to the community
Pruhs said he has worked as a cook and lived on Milwaukee's south side for 12 years
Regarding Flores-Ruiz fleeing from federal agents
Pruhs said "confusion and fear" was brought on by ICE
was acting on the advice of his state lawyer
Flores-Ruiz "was walking out and heard someone yell his name," Pruhs said
Defendant was put into a bad situation where instincts took over."
argued that Flores-Ruiz was a flight risk and should be detained
Magistrate Judge Stephen Dries said he didn't think Flores-Ruiz was a danger to the community but did think he was a flight risk and ordered him detained
The judge said there are situations in which defendants can be released back into the community while their case plays out
Judge Lynn Adelman involving a man with a wife and children in the U.S.
Adelman said he did not know which case Dries was referring to
Flores-Ruiz is scheduled back in federal court May 8 and back in state court on May 14
2025: Judge Hannah Dugan faces two federal charges: obstruction of a federal agency
which is a felony; and concealing a person to help them avoid arrest

Maybe not as relentlessly optimistic as Kevin O’Connell
but Brian Flores is fairly positive in his outlook
someone who stays pretty even-keeled while working through the difficulties of an NFL season
there has been some concern about Coach Flores from Vikings fans
The defensive coordinator seems too good to be a defensive coordinator
instead appearing to be someone who deserves one of the top 32 jobs in the NFL
Flores deserves another shot at being a head coach
there’s been some consternation about losing the well-respected coach
but one wonders if keeping him happy in Minnesota could play into retaining the one affectionately referred to as a “Mad Scientist.”
Start off with just a recent headline: edge rusher Andrew Van Ginkel has been extended
Step back from that basic update and consider the well-known fact: the defender first entered the NFL while Brian Flores was the head coach in Miami
Bringing him to Minnesota was therefore a reunion for the coach and player
one that led Van Ginkel toward being named to the Pro Bowl
and finishing 7th in Defensive Player of the Year voting
Flores is pleased to continue working alongside the pass rusher with luscious locks
“The Mad Scientist” needs certain ingredients to complete his experiments
Step back a bit further and consider the decision to bring corner Isaiah Rodgers to town. Easy to miss, perhaps, since there’s no coach/player connection in the same manner as Andrew Van Ginkel, but that addition came after a request from the DC
Coach Flores wanted Rodgers; Coach Flores got Rodgers
but we shouldn’t overlook the importance
Not every team functions with that kind of internal harmony
one where the front office seeks to work collaboratively with the coaching staff to ensure that the players being brought to town fit the specifics of what the coaches want
retaining Harrison Smith was met with applause
Has a defensive coordinator ever been unenthusiastic about the prospect of working with a young
that Brian Flores appears to have quite a bit of autonomy when it comes to his side of the ball
highly-competent employees hate in a workplace
highly-competent employees appreciate in a workplace
Being being given the leeway to do their job (and at a high level
but one’s family is mighty important
remaining in Minnesota remains a positive for Flores and his family
A cherry on top is how much the team has been improving under his tutelage. Consider some of the numbers:
The defense has been moving in the right direction under Flores’ leadership
a gratifying reality for a coach who is constantly chasing improvement
The FA additions alongside the draft pickups — DT Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins and LB Kobe King — will hopefully equip Flores with the ability to push things even higher
has held a variety of positions in his NFL career
Flores has been a scout while also putting in work for New England’s defense
He was the Dolphins head coach before becoming an assistant for Mike Tomlin’s Steelers
The hope for many in Minnesota is that Flores will keep calling Minnesota home for a long

Whether you're already a Flores fan or just hear the strains traveling on downtown air
here are three things to know about the singer-songwriter
More: Columbia concert announcement: Sierra Ferrell headed to outdoor concert series
More than a few listeners came to know Flores through his cover of The Fray's household hit "How to Save a Life," which showed up on last year's "Half Life" album
which has more than 22 million streams on Spotify
harnesses the pleading of the original take while translating that pleading into Flores' Plains-spoken vocal style and country-leaning strings
It both honors the original while showing its added depth and possibility
Flores knows how to sell the hell out of a chorusWithin his growing canon of originals
Flores can claim a number of killer choruses
The singer-songwriter knows how to build to a high point
Among his finest to date: the harmonized pleading of "Please Don't Go"; the earnest ascent of "Losing Sleep"; and Flores folk-revival meets arena-country approach to the swell within "Milwaukee."

It’s definitely a younger version of me
TM: Your new book is called Brother Brontë
Do you have a favorite book by a Brontë sibling?
FAF: I like them all. I like all the cinematic adaptations too. Recently I went over to UT’s Harry Ransom Center
which has a Brontë family archive—they have a couple of Charlotte Brontë’s notebooks
put their grubby little hands on these precious pages that are two hundred years old
books are a ray of hope in a dark dystopian world
and yet they persevere underground—and maybe transmit an ethos of resistance
Were you thinking about the recent banned books list in Texas as you were writing?
FAF: It happened organically. I was never like, “I’m gonna write a book about banned books.” Very similarly, when I wrote Tears of the Trufflepig
I didn’t deliberately write a book about the border walls
but those things ended up sneaking themselves in there.
the town where the book is set‚ on a map
Why did you make it a dystopian metropolis in your book?
FAF: Even before all these billionaires started moving to Texas and doing all these things
I was intrigued by the idea of somebody turning one of these small Texas towns into a tech boomtown
But it would be a tech boomtown that would go bust
and you have these empty husks of buildings everywhere and disillusioned people
My whole life I’ve commuted between the Valley and Austin
[Editor’s note: Three rivers run through or around Three Rivers.] I’ve always been intrigued by it
I wanted to write a book that didn’t take place in the Rio Grande Valley
so I went a little bit north of the Rio Grande Valley—just a few hours
I like this idea of my narratives moving a little bit north
TM: The fictional Three Rivers features places and things that will be familiar to many Austinites—a Capitol building
just like the Brontë sisters are in there
just like the dystopian literature is in there
I consider myself a realist writer; it still boggles my mind that my books end up being classified as dystopian literature
I never envisioned myself being that kind of writer.
I’m not sure you’re a realist writer.
But I can’t think of myself otherwise
Though I have to embrace it to a certain degree
Maybe it has to do with being an immigrant
But I’m not Mexican American like people who have had family in Texas for hundreds of years
TM: The book’s villain, Three Rivers’ tech-industrialist mayor, Pablo Henry Crick, put me in mind of Elon Musk
What do you make of his influence in South Texas right now?
FAF: I only marginally follow it because I feel I’m already too connected to it
When I was finishing this novel three or so years ago
I became aware of SpaceX launching rockets
And that’s when my novel made sense to me
That’s what I was trying to connect with here.” This idea of South Texas being not only the border between Mexico and Texas but the border between outer space and this world
I feel that I’m trying to take in current events but also to not be deliberate about what I’m doing with them
TM: If Donald Trump deports millions of people
Does concern with what might lie ahead inform your writing?
FAF: Writing is a form of grappling with these things
[People] wouldn’t ban books if they didn’t feel books are dangerous
“What is the most dangerous thing I can do in the battlefield of the imagination?” And I feel like it’s these things that are confronted in the book
even if they’re peripherally confronted
TM: Brother Brontë is your fourth book. The last time you talked to Texas Monthly
you described your first three books as composing a South Texas trilogy

Flores (@floresitadeluna) is a Mexican American artist from El Paso, Texas. Not too long ago, she released a heartfelt alternative R&B song “Same,” the second track from her upcoming EP
following in the footsteps of Omar Apollo and Jean Dawson
“Same” captures a whirlwind of emotions that resonate with anyone who’s experienced uncertainty in love
where Flores questions the possibilities of a lasting relationship
pull it apart to let you in,” reveals a deep longing
The chorus presents a conflict—the desire for clarity in a romantic situation
“You would’ve been my number one spot if you’d have been clear with me,” illustrates the frustration that arises when communication falters
Listeners can empathize with the struggle of wanting to be with someone who seems to be emotionally distant
inviting listeners to reflect on their own experiences of love and heartache
We recommend adding Flores’ “Same” song to your favorite alternative R&B playlist

Healthy Flores gives Giants another impact batVeteran eager to move on from injury-marred '24; Winn is another comeback candidateFebruary 15th
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- The Giants made only one addition to their lineup this offseason, signing power-hitting shortstop Willy Adames, but they believe the return of a healthy Wilmer Flores could be the equivalent of adding another impact bat
Flores was the Giants’ best hitter in 2023, when he batted a career-high .284 with an .863 OPS and a team-high 23 home runs, but his production took a significant dip last year as he battled a nagging right knee injury that eventually led to a season-ending Tenex procedure in August
He finished the 2024 campaign hitting only .206 with a .595 OPS and four home runs over 71 games
all of which were his lowest full-season marks of his 12-year career
the way I’ve been taught to play this game is to find a way to play
spent the first four months of the offseason rehabbing
but he resumed his normal workouts in December and is now hitting
running and taking grounders without limitations
After exercising his $3.5 million player option for 2025
Flores is eager to turn the page on his disappointing season and prove that he can still be a key contributor in his sixth year with the Giants
“I didn’t want to stop playing,” Flores said
This year I want to show that I still got it
The right-handed-hitting Flores is expected to serve as LaMonte Wade Jr.’s platoon partner at first base
though he also figures to be a key bat off the bench and could also see time at designated hitter if he performs to his usual standards
His surgically repaired knee is feeling good so far
though he said he made one tweak to try to avoid more setbacks in the future
“I had to make a small adjustment,” Flores said
“I don’t want to get into my right leg as much
but when I do batting practice and I take a lot of swings
I don’t want to get in my right leg too much.”
Winn updateAnother bounceback candidate for the Giants will be right-hander Keaton Winn
who also ended last season on the injured list after undergoing ulnar nerve transposition surgery in his throwing elbow in July
earned a spot in the Giants’ Opening Day rotation last year and recorded a 3.18 ERA over six starts in April
but he hit a wall after he began to experience stabbing pain in his right elbow
Winn tried to pitch through the discomfort
but it was clear he was compromised on the mound
as he logged a 13.50 ERA over his next six appearances before being shut down
Sign up to receive our daily Morning Lineup to stay in the know about the latest trending topics around Major League Baseball
“I try not to dwell on it a whole bunch because it brings me down a lot
but I had a big opportunity and my arm kind of messed everything up,” Winn said Saturday
I’m looking forward to the future and doing what I can to help the team.”
Winn spent the first half of the offseason rehabbing and then began throwing off the mound in December
He’s back to full strength now and reached 95 mph in his latest bullpen session
which should give him a chance to compete with Kyle Harrison
Hayden Birdsong and Landen Roupp for the fifth spot in the Giants’ rotation this spring
“I feel a lot better than I have in the last couple of years,” Winn said
The FBI arrested Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Hannah Dugan for allegedly helping an undocumented immigrant "evade arrest," Kash Patel said.MILWAUKEE -- A Milwaukee County circuit judge was arrested by the FBI over allegedly helping an undocumented immigrant evade arrest
FBI Director Kash Patel announced Judge Hannah Dugan's arrest earlier Friday in a social media post
the FBI arrested Judge Hannah Dugan out of Milwaukee
Wisconsin on charges of obstruction - after evidence of Judge Dugan obstructing an immigration arrest operation last week," Patel said in the new post
"We believe Judge Dugan intentionally misdirected federal agents away from the subject to be arrested in her courthouse
allowing the subject - an illegal alien - to evade arrest."
Dugan was charged with two criminal counts of "obstructing and impeding a proceeding before a department or agency of the United States" and "concealing an individual to prevent his discovery and arrest," according to a criminal complaint unsealed Friday

Milwaukee County executive David Crowley also confirmed the judge was arrested Friday morning on campus grounds of the county courthouse
"Trump's FBI is more concerned about weaponizing federal law enforcement
punishing people without their due process and intimidating anyone who opposes these policies," Crowley said
County court records show the undocumented immigrant -- Eduardo Flores-Ruiz -- was set to appear in court on April 18 before Dugan for a pretrial conference in a case where he has been charged with three misdemeanor counts of battery/domestic abuse connected to an incident on March 12
The arrest drew protests and condemnation from Wisconsin officials who criticized the move as an overreach on the judicial system
Dugan allegedly sought to help Flores-Ruiz evade arrest by federal officers from an ICE task force
When Judge Dugan learned ICE officers were present in court to arrest Flores-Ruiz
she became "visibly angry" and said the situation was "absurd" before leaving the bench and entering her chambers
which cited witnesses who spoke to the FBI
Judge Dugan and another unidentified judge then allegedly approached the arrest team in the public hallway
She was "visibly upset and had a confrontational
angry demeanor" and asked one of the officers whether they were present for a court appearance
When the officer replied they were there to make an arrest
the complaint alleges Judge Dugan asked if they had a judicial warrant
"No I have an administrative warrant."
Multiple witnesses cited in the complaint later allegedly said Judge Dugan returned to her courtroom after directing members of the arrest team to the office of the court's chief judge
"The courtroom deputy then saw Judge DUGAN get up and heard Judge DUGAN say something like 'Wait
come with me,'" the complaint states
"Despite having been advised of the administrative warrant for the arrest of Flores-Ruiz
Judge DUGAN then escorted Flores-Ruiz and his counsel out of the courtroom through the 'jury door,' which leads to a nonpublic area of the courthouse."
A DEA agent saw Flores-Ruiz and his attorney in the public hallway of the courthouse and appeared to be making efforts to evade arrest
After he was encountered by FBI and DEA agents outside the building
Flores-Ruiz "turned around and sprinted down the street" before he was ultimately apprehended
Attorney General Pam Bondi spoke on the arrest Friday
no one is above the law in this country," Bondi said
if you are obstructing justice when you have victims sitting in a courtroom of domestic violence and you're escorting a criminal defendant out a back door
District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin on Friday on the two charges
County officials told ABC7 Chicago it's not clear how soon she may be able to return to the bench
Dugan's attorney Craig Mastantuono said in court
"Judge Dugan wholeheartedly protests the arrest and believes it was not made in the interests of public safety."
Dugan could face up to six years in prison
Judge Dugan's attorney issued a statement late Friday afternoon
Dugan has committed herself to the rule of law and the principles of due process for her entire career as a lawyer and a judge
She has retained former United States Attorney Steven Biskupic to represent her
Judge Dugan will defend herself vigorously
and looks forward to being exonerated."

The judge's arrest angered Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson who accused the federal agents of "showboating" and contended Dugan was not a flight risk
"They're just trying to have this show of force and in the process of a court house where people need to go for court proceedings
they're scaring away people from participating in the court process," the mayor told reporters
responded to the arrest of Milwaukee County circuit judge Hannah Dugan in a statement criticizing President Donald Trump and the White House for what he said were efforts "to attack and attempt to undermine our judiciary at every level."
Evers said he would continue to have faith in the justice system "as this situation plays out in the court of law." He did not mention Dugan by name
people in Milwaukee gathered for a protest in front of the federal building once they heard of the judge's arrest
"This is a person who stood up for what was right for those men not to be taken out of a courthouse
which should be a place people can go for services
and instead she has been hit with felony charges," said Casey Serrano with the Milwaukee Alliance Against Racist and Political Reparation
Federal prosecutors allege Flores-Ruiz illegally entered the U.S
from Mexico and was issued an Expedited Removal order in January 2013
Further details about the domestic abuse charges were not immediately available
