“April Showers” was the theme as 26 members of the Belle Vernon Annita Garibaldi Society met April 10
The April committee asked all members to bring donations for the “Little Things for Little People” organization and the members responded enthusiastically

Memphians proclaimed their love for Garibaldi's
Garibaldi's has been loving the Bluff City since the days when Goldsmith's and the Raleigh Springs Mall were regular weekend destinations
and the largest university in town was called Memphis State
What started as a recent college grad's need to make a way for himself after graduation ended up rooting itself in its Memphis community
with branches across the city and people who lovingly call it home
It was long before expansions or even Michael Jr
— who now runs the family business — were ever thought of
the area near campus only had a McDonald's and a newly opened Pizza Hut
compared to the more vibrant food scenes he had seen other college towns present near their campuses
and I just knew that [a local pizzeria] could go here," Garibaldi Sr
What began as "learning the pizza business as we went" has since expanded to two Memphis locations and a third in Germantown
credits the video games and pinball machine in the restaurant's dining room with keeping them interesting and open when lulls in business would have closed other restaurants for good
But it's more likely that his intentional community involvement played a major role in customers' loyalty to the brand
MEMPHIS RESTAURANTS: Barksdales is back: Beloved Memphis diner reopens with new owners and familiar favorites
Garibaldi's has sponsored Little League teams
donated to several local charities and has a deep
longstanding relationship with both the University of Memphis and Christian Brothers High School
Their community ties add branches to the Garibaldi's tree
endearing them to metro Memphis as both a beloved eatery and community member
"We've done a really good job of keeping the product consistent
being involved in the community and family," Garibaldi Jr
Everything is about family [and] breaking bread
We want our customers to feel how we feel."
says he remembers walking — and maybe sometimes running — through the Walker Avenue store as early as age 6
he had learned to safely handle a knife and was helping to prep food in the kitchen
His teen years were spent working in the restaurant part-time
"They taught me the art of dough rolling and spinning and different prep," Garibaldi Jr
said of his early memories of the pizzeria
"That was really cool [but] I did not originally have intentions of getting into the business."
Garibaldi Jr. majored in finance at the University of Memphis and planned a career in that industry. In a twist of fate, he ended up returning home to Memphis after a job in New York City's finance sector suddenly fell through. Garibaldi Jr. recalled the Sept. 11, 2001
breakfast meeting he had with his intended firm's CEO on the day that changed countless lives
'I remember the day JFK was shot and you'll remember today,'" he said
"I needed a job and [my dad] was having some trouble with some management issues
NEW MEMPHIS RESTAURANTS: 3 must-try spots serving up coffee, Cajun classics and more
Store management led to stepping into his father's shoes when the elder Garibaldi retired from the day-to-day operations
has 24 years of full-time pizzeria experience under his belt and runs the operation
But the family patriarch still hosts traditional Italian family dinners every Sunday for his children and grandchildren; a tradition he and his wife have been keeping up for the past three generations
When it comes to the pizza that Memphians can't get enough of
Garibaldi's hand-tosses its dough that is made with top quality ingredients sourced from across the country
allowing flavors and air pockets to develop
cheese and other toppings are delicately placed precariously close to the edge of a crust that is a delightful balance between crisp and chewy
Pepperoni comes out of the oven with the most wonderful crunch on the tips of their curled-up edges
Garibaldi Sr. says his favorite pie on the menu is the Meat Lover's that features pepperoni, Italian sausage, beef, smoked bacon and Canadian bacon, but admits to ordering simple pepperoni more often so his grandkids can freely pick from his plate. Bar-B-Que Pizza claims the top spot on Garibaldi Jr.'s list of favorite pies. The menu also includes salads
plenty of appetizers and more (not to mention
"We use the best ingredients we can get our hands on and we've been refining our techniques for the past 50 years."
That longevity has allowed the Memphis brand to foster strong relationships with suppliers of everything from flour to pizza boxes
Those relationships translate to quality food at affordable prices for the loyal Memphis customers from their family to yours
And it's how Garibaldi's Pizza has been going "50 years and still spinning."

A popular market for the Hispanic community in and around Southeast Dallas is set to close early next year to make room for a new Home Depot
In a letter obtained by The Dallas Morning News
the bazaar’s management said vendors need to vacate by March 31
“We tried to obtain an extension but we could not,” the letter reads in Spanish
“Finish your contract with Garibaldi Bazaar so your deposit will be returned and you can remain in good standing with the bazaar.”
did not immediately respond to KERA's request for comment
but local advocates say the bazaar’s closing is going to impact the community
“It's going to be a financial hardship for them, the vendors, as well as for the customers that frequent those types of establishments,” said Juanita Arevalo, a Garibaldi customer and advocate with the neighborhood association Pleasant Grove Unidos
the bazaar was a place to find affordable merchandise
“The cost is a lot less for you to buy an outfit than you go to the mall and try to buy something,” she said
For Daniel Wood, chair of the nearby Buckner Terrace Homeowners Association
the bazaar’s closing is a “mixed bag” for residents in the area
“I understand some people are not going to be happy about it,” Wood said
But he said the market has been an “eyesore” in the neighborhood for years
“That's not reflective of the tenants or the people
“That's a testament of a slumlord not taking care of his property.”
The bazaar’s management told vendors in the letter that it’s already looking for another location for vendors
“At the moment there are two options for us to move to,” read the letter
“We’ll soon advise you of the new location.”
The city’s Board of Adjustments approved Home Depot’s request for the new location in October
It’s now up for consideration in the City Plan Commission and

The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) is spearheading a transformative infrastructure project along U.S
funded through state and federal transportation programs
this initiative aims to address critical issues with degraded pavement and non-compliant accessibility features
which began construction in 2024 and is slated for completion by Fall 2025
providing a comprehensive look at its scope
The primary motivation for the project stems from the deteriorating condition of U.S
Years of wear have left the road surface uneven and prone to further damage
reducing its lifespan and creating potential hazards for users
the slopes at crosswalks along this stretch fail to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards
posing challenges for individuals with mobility needs
These issues prompted ODOT to launch a multi-faceted improvement plan to modernize the corridor
ensuring it serves the community effectively for years to come
addressing both surface-level and structural deficiencies
ODOT’s plan includes repaving the entire section of U.S
high-visibility striping to improve lane clarity and driver safety
Accessibility upgrades are a cornerstone of the project
with new ADA-compliant curb ramps being constructed at rail crossings on 3rd Street and 7th Street
These ramps will provide smoother transitions for wheelchair users and others with mobility challenges
New sidewalks will also be built along the corridor
creating safer and more comfortable pathways for pedestrians
Public transit users will benefit from the addition of designated bus stop pull-out locations
which will allow buses to load and unload passengers without obstructing traffic
Navigation through downtown Garibaldi will be improved with enhanced street signage
the project includes upgrades to the water drainage system to mitigate flooding risks and protect the newly paved road from water-related damage
The project’s timeline reflects years of careful planning and execution
Construction began in 2024 and is expected to conclude in Fall 2025
with crews already making significant progress
A key milestone is the upcoming paving phase
Paving is a critical component of the project
as it will restore the road’s surface and set the stage for subsequent improvements like striping and signage
and ODOT is prepared to adjust schedules to ensure optimal conditions for paving
Construction activities are scheduled Monday through Friday
to minimize disruption to evening and weekend traffic
the project will have notable impacts on the community
Lane closures will be in effect 24 hours a day during active construction periods
with flaggers and pilot cars guiding vehicles through the work zone
This setup ensures safe passage but may lead to delays
Side streets within the project area will be closed
requiring local traffic to use alternate routes
with temporary sidewalk closures and detours implemented as needed to maintain safety
Noise from construction equipment and activities is another expected impact
particularly for residents and businesses near the work zone
ODOT has emphasized that all businesses in the project area will remain open and accessible throughout construction
This commitment is crucial for Garibaldi’s economy
which relies on local commerce and tourism
allowing residents and stakeholders to receive real-time updates on traffic impacts
Interested individuals can sign up through ODOT’s project website
The project’s $14,462,625 budget underscores its scale and significance
While specific funding sources were not detailed
such initiatives typically draw from a combination of federal highway funds
The investment reflects ODOT’s commitment to improving Oregon’s infrastructure
particularly in coastal communities like Garibaldi
101 serves as a vital economic and social artery
the completed project will deliver a revitalized U.S
101 that meets modern standards for safety and accessibility
The new pavement and striping will provide a smoother
while ADA-compliant ramps and sidewalks will ensure the corridor is welcoming to all users
Bus stop pull-outs will enhance public transit efficiency
and upgraded signage will make downtown Garibaldi more navigable
Improved drainage will protect the infrastructure from environmental wear
extending its lifespan and reducing future maintenance costs
the project represents a significant step forward
The upgraded corridor will support the town’s role as a coastal destination
101 for its scenic beauty and charming communities
it will address long-standing accessibility barriers
making downtown more inclusive for people of all abilities
While the construction period will require patience and adaptability
and more inviting downtown—promise to outweigh the temporary inconveniences
including email alerts and project resources
ensures that the community remains engaged and informed throughout the process
such as detour routes or specific construction updates
ODOT’s project website and alerts provide a direct line to the latest information
this project stands as a testament to the power of targeted infrastructure investment to uplift a community

The iconic Hispanic market will close on March 31 after Home Depot filed paperwork with plans to open a new store
It has been operating for more than 20 years
“It was not the first time we heard rumors that the bazaar was going to close
it causes nostalgia to know that this great family is crumbling
Garibaldi Bazaar, at 9334 East R. L. Thornton Freeway, has more than 300 stores
It has been a historic place for the Latino community in Dallas to gather and shop
The market sells everything from food and snacks from various Latin American countries to quinceañera attire

Aguilar’s career in the bazaar started with a stand selling corn in a cup and aguas frescas. Over the years, she opened two restaurants, Coco Loco Fruteria y Neveria and Cafe Tacuba Con Sabor Chilango
without knowing English or how to run a business
Aguilar worked as a dishwasher at Chili’s and kept learning about the kitchen and other areas of a restaurant
She moved through different jobs until she came across the chance to open a space in Garibaldi Bazaar
“This place gave me the opportunity to make people happy with my food
which tasted like their grandmothers’ or mothers’ food
and because of this was priceless,” Aguilar said
Aguilar is worried about finding another place to run her business
She pays about $15,000 every month for her three spots
and they don’t have the foot traffic of Garibaldi Bazaar
Aguilar is also worried about her 20 employees and the impact on their families
She said the vendors have formed strong bonds
as most have been there for more than 15 years
They have stood together through good times and bad
They all worked together when the COVID pandemic hit
and they have seen each other’s children grow up and take over their parents’ businesses
“This closure doesn’t only hurt our own families but the Hispanic community overall,” she said
Aguilar said the bazaar was a glue for the Hispanic community in Dallas
People knew this was the place to find everything related to their culture
shopping and listening to music that reminded them of their homeland
Veronica Jiménez, a vendor at the bazaar for 22 years, owns La Sultana Western Wear, which sells Western clothing and accessories
Both vendors said they felt blindsided by the process
they received a letter from the bazaar’s administrator
When The Dallas Morning News interviewed Ramírez in July
he said there was a contract in place and it would not close anytime soon
The News obtained a letter sent to vendors with the date of the bazaar’s closure
The letter stated the administration was considering two other locations and would notify vendors interested in participating in the new space once more information was available
vendors scrambled to find ways to save the place that had been their home for many years
This fight is lost if they already put their eyes on the place
There is nothing else we can do,” Jiménez said
Applications were submitted in March to the Dallas Board of Adjustment
indicating the site was being considered for a Home Depot store
The applications request a change in parking requirements to accommodate the store
The documents are signed by the owner of the building that houses Garibaldi Bazaar
The board approved Home Depot’s request on Oct
Now the project is waiting for a date to be heard by the City Plan Commission
it will go to the Dallas City Council for a vote
as December is typically their strongest month
In January they will consider their options
“We will continue to work as we always have and see what the future holds for all of us,” Aguilar said

Print Laguna Beach has made a move to establish its own legal department
as the City Council on Tuesday unanimously approved an employment agreement for Megan Garibaldi to served as city attorney
The city had a decades-long track record of contracting for its legal services and had entered into a five-year agreement with Best Best & Krieger
Garibaldi has represented the city as its lead legal counsel since the agreement
The council’s move on Tuesday will provide for in-house legal services and make Garibaldi a city employee
City staff estimated the contracted legal services cost the city between $2.4 and $2.5 million annually
Financial analysis shown in a staff report projected the in-house model to come at a cost of approximately $2.1 million
“I think anytime you can save $400,000 a year and ensure a faster and more effective legal support system
it’s a good move,” Mayor Alex Rounaghi said
“I think this strategically is the right way
We live in an increasingly complicated and legalistic world...and so I think this is going to ultimately do right by the residents
and the City Council as we navigate the complicated but also exciting opportunities ahead over the next few years.”
The city’s legal department will include a city attorney
two assistant city attorneys and a paralegal
Special counsel services would include human resources and risk management
outside litigation and administrative support
Garibaldi will earn an initial annual salary of $297,000
with a cost-of-living adjustment of up to 4% each year
The top step salary for the position of assistant city attorney was noted at $256,000
while a paralegal could earn $110,000 before benefits
the city’s director of human resources and risk management
said the city would coordinate a transition with Best Best & Krieger
Garibaldi’s anticipated start date is April 28
Human resources staff and Garibaldi will work together to recruit and fill the remaining positions in the legal department
Councilman Bob Whalen requested a comparative analysis at the end of fiscal year 2025-26 to determine the actual costs within the legal department as compared to the presented projections
The retirement of Phil Kohn, who had represented the city in legal matters since 1982, set off the search for the next city attorney. Kohn worked with Rutan & Tucker, LLP, which the city contracted with for legal services beginning in 1979.

given apparent plans to replace the Hispanic market with a home improvement store
According to a letter sent to tenants at the site
the deadline to leave the market will be March 31
The news came as no surprise to vendors since earlier this year there were rumors about the bazaar’s closure due to the construction of a new Home Depot store
But some had hoped to stay longer in the market
but it’s just too sad to have to shut down the business that I started 20 years ago in this place,” said Pilar Aguilar
owner of a Mexican restaurant at Garibaldi
“This place allowed me to fulfill my dream of having a restaurant.”
did not respond to several calls from The Dallas Morning News seeking comment
Applications were submitted in March to the city of Dallas Board of Adjustment
which indicated that the site that has been home to the market for more than 20 years was being considered for a Home Depot store
The applications request a change in parking requirements to accommodate what would be the Home Depot store
the Dallas-based real estate company that owns the property
The board gave the green light to Home Depot’s request on Oct
the case is waiting for a date to be heard by the City Plan Commission
it will then go to the Dallas City Council for a vote
Daniel Wood, president of the Buckner Terrace neighborhood association, said the association supports the new store.
“People are excited. We’re tired of driving to Mesquite to go to Home Depot,” said Wood. “We don’t have to go outside of our neighborhood anymore to actually shop for home improvement stuff.”
The Home Depot location in Mesquite is less than 10 minutes from the bazaar.
The vibrant Garibaldi Bazaar, with more than 300 stores, has been a historic place for the Latino community in Dallas to gather and find products and services. The market sells everything from food and snacks from various Latin American countries to quinceañera attire, jewelry and traditional Mexican clothing such as ponchos, toys and other items.
Some vendors are now looking for a place to relocate their business.
“It’s difficult to start in a new place once you are established and people know you,” said Carlos Mora, who sells soccer equipment and has been in the bazaar for seven years. “Thank God I also have another spot in another bazaar, but it’s not easy to shut down your business.”
The News obtained a letter from the bazaar manager asking tenants to “keep calm and take advantage of the Christmas and Valentine sales.”

president of the Legione Garibaldi Society
putting a wreath on the statue of Giuseppe Garibaldi in Lincoln Park
The statue has since been moved to Garibaldi Park in Little Italy
but the stone base remains in Lincoln Park
“Comes the dawn!” exults Lou Rago, president of the Italian American Human Relations Foundation of Chicago, in his recent letter to the editor regarding the renewed effort to restore the Columbus statues to Chicago’s public spaces
While an uncertain dawn possibly heralds the return of the controversial Columbus sculptures
a monument of at least equal importance languishes in perpetual dusk
I refer to the remains of the Giuseppe Garibaldi Monument in Lincoln Park, a tribute to a patriot and warrior who was key to the unification of Italy in the 19th century, and who is mostly unknown to contemporary Chicagoans. Garibaldi is a unifying figure
and no one could object to honoring him in a prominent location
your neighborhood or hometown and a phone number for verification purposes
Letters should be a maximum of approximately 375 words
But the “Plaza General Giuseppe Garibaldi,” dedicated in 1934, is neglected and in a state of decay. (The statue itself was moved several times after its original dedication in 1901, according to the Chicago Park District.) The concrete plaza around the massive
rough-hewn memorial has crumbled and the inscription is wearing away
No explanatory plaque tells the story of this Italian hero who spent some months in New York in the 1850s
later offered to join the Union Army and returned to Italy and the struggle for a united
While the statue of Garibaldi was moved to Garibaldi Park in Little Italy years back, the 63-ton stone base left behind in Lincoln Park remains without a sculpture
Rather than focusing so exclusively on Columbus
a figure about whom rather too much is known
why don’t Italian American associations work to restore the Garibaldi plaza in Lincoln Park
Such an effort would show they are serious about educating Chicagoans about the full range of Italian American history
and are not just a single-issue pressure group
Rick Morrissey’s commentary (“Pete Rose doesn’t need Donald Trump’s help. The cheating Astros already opened the door to the Hall of Fame.”) concerning Pete Rose’s gambling and Donald Trump’s intent to pardon Rose should not cause an uproar
As we all know, Trump and Rose’s credibility cannot be questioned. While Rose initially vehemently denied betting on any baseball games
we all suffer occasional slips of the mind
Similarly, when Trump said that he was actually elected president in 2020
he may have been referring to some other election that was stolen from him
while the president is trying to negotiate peace in two wars
and his tariffs are upsetting some world leaders
Trump still recognizes the magnitude of getting the deceased Pete Rose pardoned
President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance recently demanded a “thank you” from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to acknowledge the United States’ support of Ukraine
The “thank you” demand was obviously for the sole benefit of Trump’s ego satisfaction
To paraphrase the great Jewish rabbi and scholar Maimonides’ 12th-century classic “Eight Levels of Charity,” a charitable act is diminished to the extent that the donor benefits
Trump’s and Vance’s demand unwittingly diminished their own charitable efforts
but no one with a true sense of charity demands a “thank you”
as Trump and Vance seemed to demand that the recipient (metaphorically) kneel in obeisance
Maimonides probably would have taught that this was an exercise in power and self-aggrandizement
Thank you for committing to ensure that all students have access to meaningful learning free of divisive ideologies and indoctrination. Thank you for setting up this web page, enddei.ed.gov, so that everyone can report illegal discriminatory practices at institutions of learning
and illegal discriminatory practices are interfering with access to meaningful learning in many parts of our great country
There are malign forces seeking to rewrite history by eliminating teaching about slavery
and about widespread discrimination against anyone who is not an English-speaking
There is a push to indoctrinate school children into Christianity
despite the constitutional separation of church and state
There is a movement afoot to stop teaching about human reproduction
The advocates of ignorance would have us believe that scientific research
and logic with disinformation and ideology
Discrimination against the intelligent and the curious is rampant
while the main response to school shootings is “thoughts and prayers.”
No country can remain a world leader without excellent education
Please investigate and eliminate these threats to our institutions of learning
I believe that if 9/11 were to happen today the rest of the world would turn their backs on the United States
shrug their collective shoulders and tell Donald Trump he had it coming
This man is single-handedly putting our nation in danger of losing our allies
now democracy is being destroyed within its borders

The vessel, which was delivered to Seaspan by CIMC SOE in August 2024
will then perform its first ship-to-ship bunkering in Long Beach
This is where the company said it will provide simultaneous operations to bunker a series of vessels
Following the bunkering, the Seaspan Garibaldi will continue to provide low-carbon solutions to vessels on the West Coast of North America and will be joined by the company’s second LNG bunkering vessel, the Seaspan Lions (Ch’ich’iyúy Elxwíkn)
7,600 cbm Seaspan Garibaldi is able to travel at a speed of 13 knots and is classed by Bureau Veritas (BV)
the vessel features an advanced DC power distribution system and is equipped with three dual-fuel generators for power supply
Two 1,600 kW azimuth thrusters provide propulsion
and there is provision for battery installation
The vessel comes with two tanks comprising TGE Marine Gas Engineering’s fuel gas system
as well as two compressor systems for boil-off gas (BOG) handling
which is controlled by a TGE Marine control system supporting the maintenance of the tank pressure besides BOG treatment
It also has a static and dynamic custody transfer system and various manifolds that enable full flexibility of bunkering operations
The construction of the vessel began in February 2023, and the launching ceremony was held in December 2023
To remind, CIMC SOE signed an agreement with Seaspan for the construction of two 7,600 cbm LNG bunker vessels
The remaining two vessels, Seaspan Lions and Seaspan Baker
Seaspan Lions is scheduled for delivery in 2024 while Seaspan Baker will arrive in 2025

Freshman middle blocker Bianca Garibaldi announced on Instagram that she was leaving Pitt and heading for the transfer portal
A post shared by 𝙱𝚒𝚊𝚗 (@biancagaribaldi)
one of the biggest sports clubs in the country
She has also starred for the Argentina at different youth levels
U19 World Championships and U21 South American Cup
Garibaldi led Argentina at the U19 World Championships this in 2023 in Croatia-Hungary with 88 kills and 22 blocks
She also earned Best Middle Blocker honors at the U19 South America Cup
along with fellow freshman middle blocker Ryla Jones
She participated in spring practices and competed in the spring games as well
Pitt head coach Dan Fisher would chose to bring in a new freshman middle blocker in the summer, as Rachel Jepsen departed the team for an 18-month missionary tip with the Church of Latter-Day Saints in Paris starting in April 2024
He brought in Dalia Vîrlan, who hails from Romania
and that would complete the middle blocker group of four
Kelley started for the Panthers and Jones won the second starting spot at middle blocker
Vîrlan would come in next and that left Garibaldi as the fourth option at the position
who played for Crestview High School in Columbiana
Garibaldi is the second Pitt volleyball player that entered the transfer portal this offseason, along with AVCA First Team All-American and sophomore outside hitter Torrey Stafford
She is also one of seven players that departed the program following the end of the season

Applications were submitted in March to the city of Dallas Board of Adjustment that indicate the site that has been home to the bazaar for more than 20 years is being considered for a Home Depot store
The applications on file request a change in parking requirements for what would be the Home Depot store. They are signed by the owner of the building that houses Garibaldi Bazaar
Lebowitz told The Dallas Morning News over the phone he couldn’t confirm the plans
and that’s all I can say at this point in time,” said Lebowitz
“There’s no decision and no firm commitment to anything.”
who has managed the bazaar since it opened
said he was aware of the application to the city
but said it didn’t mean the space was closing
He said there’s a contract in place for the bazaar and it will not close anytime soon
Ramírez would not say when the contract expires
vendors received a letter from the bazaar stating news of Home Depot coming to the site was only a rumor
Focus on your business to increment your sales,” read the letter
“There are some booths available if you would like to extend your business.”
A Home Depot spokesperson said via email the company would not share information about the future location until after July 18
A Board of Adjustment meeting on July 18 that had the item on the agenda for discussion was canceled
chief planner with the Board of Adjustment
The board heard the case for the first time in June
but the item was sent for another hearing because the applicant failed to provide evidence that the reduction in parking would not increase traffic in the area and cause vehicles to park on the street
the proposed store layout showed where the garden center
seasonal sales and other sections of a Home Depot would be distributed throughout the site
A vibrant market with more than 300 stores
Garibaldi Bazaar has been a historic place for the Latino community in Dallas to gather and find products and services
and traditional Mexican clothing such as ponchos
The Garibaldi Bazaar often hosts large events in its parking lot
and a Mexican circus performs in September
The bazaar is a well-known establishment in North Texas, with visitors from all over the state shopping there. For locals, it is more than a shopping center. It is where they grew up spending their weekends with their families, said Juanita Arévalo, a community leader in Pleasant Grove and the surrounding areas.
“This is not fair for the vendors. They deserve more clarity on what is going on,” said Arévalo. “This place, like all the other bazaars, is an imprint of the entrepreneurial spirit of the Latino community in Dallas.”
For some vendors, this is their only source of income, and closing their business would affect their economic stability and the livelihood of their workers and the families that depend on them, said Arévalo.
Ramírez said the vendors have contracts with the bazaar and should not worry about a potential closure. He said contracts are offered for six months to one year.
Ramírez told vendors not to speak with the media about the potential change to prevent rumors from spreading.
Home Depot has another location nearby in Mesquite, less than 10 minutes from the bazaar.
Vendors at the bazaar were reluctant to discuss the situation given Ramírez’s admonition, but some of them told The News they are anxious about the plans and hope for clarity soon.

May the fond memories help you with these difficult times
we look at the data to help us make decisions on how we can make improvements
We are taking continued steps toward aligning day-use pass requirements with visitor use management needs at Garibaldi this summer.
Why day-use passes at Garibaldi Park?
Day-use passes have been required seasonally at Cheakamus
and Rubble Creek trailheads in Garibaldi Park since 2020
Each trailhead has its own parking area shared by campers and day-users
Thousands of vehicles use each lot every month (Figure 1)
traffic would expand and overwhelm the current facilities during peak days in the summer.
Day-use passes also help reduce crowding in the park
particularly at popular viewpoints or narrow sections of trail
Based on monitoring and visitor survey results in 2024
visitors’ experience of crowding was at a tolerable level in the Rubble Creek trail network
visitors to Garibaldi Lake were quite sensitive to changes in crowding
and changes to pass availability may have consequences for visitor experience
Evaluation of in-park crowding helps inform key decisions made by BC Parks
This can include things like parking lot expansion
and investigation into other visitor use management tools
Passes also provide us with more opportunities to connect with visitors and to better manage cultural and environmental values
they are alone not enough to warrant pass requirements at Garibaldi Park
BC Parks is aligning day-use pass requirements only with days where managing capacity is truly necessary.
2025 day-use pass changes for Garibaldi Park:
day-use passes will be required during the following times:
These changes are based on 2024 pass data (Figure 2)
which shows most visitors want to reserve passes on Fridays

Vancouver, B.C.-headquartered Seaspan Energy‘s Seaspan Garibaldi has successfully completed its first LNG ship-to-ship transfer to a containership in the Port of Long Beach
This operation marks the beginning of Seaspan’s service offering on the West Coast of North America with two LNG bunkering vessels to soon serve both the Long Beach and Vancouver markets
“Our first ship-to-ship LNG bunkering has been five years in the making and our team is so proud of this milestone especially as this represents the first ship-to-ship bunkering on the West Coast of North America,” said Harly Penner
“We are committed to offering large vessel operators a low-carbon fuel solution and this is the first of many successful operations to support a sustainable shift in the global marine sector.”
The Seaspan Garibaldi is the first of three Seaspan Energy 112 meter LNG bunkering vessels to be operational. The vessel, which was launched last year (see earlier story) will soon be joined by the Seaspan Lions and both bunkering vessels will support the market on the West Coast of North America
The Seaspan LNG bunkering vessels are being built in China by CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering (CIMC SOE)
which is one of the most experienced small-scale gas carrier shipyards in the world
having delivered more than 30 LNG gas carriers
Seaspan worked closely with the Canadian-based team at Vard Marine Inc
to incorporate emerging technologies resulting in a decrease in emissions and underwater noise
and economical refueling of multiple ship types with an ability to transfer to and from a wide range of terminals
The design will allow the vessel to engage in ship-to-ship LNG transfer and coastal and short-sea shipping operations
