The new plant is to be located next to the company’s existing air separation facility and will be powered by renewable energy from local solar and wind power projects to produce independently certified green hydrogen, Linde said
Once the new White Martins plant is up and running
it will supply green hydrogen to the glass manufacturer Cebrace
as well as to other customers in the metal
White Martins was the first company to produce green hydrogen on an industrial scale in South America at its plant in Pernambuco in 2022
“Investing in green hydrogen to supply the industrial heart of São Paulo reaffirms our commitment to the energy transition in Brazil,” said Gilney Bastos
“We look forward to helping Cebrace achieve its decarbonization goals while also supporting merchant customers’ transition to lower carbon solutions,” Bastos added

Os Cobras are under pressure to end their winless campaign
Looking to do so against the reigning champions will require solid execution of a game plan
outperforming the opposition in the contact area and greatly improved discipline This will ask a lot of the Brazilian side
Los Dogos are favorites to win on the road
Los Dogos showed class in a bonus point home victory on Friday
The red hot Dogos travel to Jacareí to take-on Os Cobras on Saturday. The second round match of Super Rugby Americas 2024 sees two teams who impressed in week one looking to continue their winning ways
The match will be played at the Estádio Du Cambusano in Jacareí
The city is located one hour northwest from São Paulo’s biggest airport
It is a new home for Os Cobras but one that already is already written in history
Os Cobras’ 15-13 win over Peñarol in week one marked the first Uruguayan loss against Brazilian opposition since the South American professional league began in 2020. Now the challenge is against the 2023 runners-up
Head Coach Josh Reeves has not stuck with the winning formula
his line-up sees a staggering eleven changes
The four names retained are flanker Matheus Cláudio and the Argentine trio of tight head Francisco Moreno
second-rower Franco Carrera and winger Agustín Llano
Cláudio takes over the captaincy from Cleber Dias who drops to the bench as part of Reeves’ rotation
Endy Willian Pinheiro is nowhere to be seen
Henrique Ribeiro replaces him at hooker and joins Argentines Luciano Gabellieri
Carrera is joined by Ben Donald in the second-row; Donald was a replacement against Peñarol
the new look back-row sees the trio of Cláudio
Douglas Rauth makes way for Felipe Gonçalves at scrum-half
Gonçalves starts in combination with Lucas Spago
Victor Souza will play inside center with Joel Júnior making his Super Rugby Americas debut outside him
and Sérgio Luna join Llano in the back-three
Renato Santos and Maiki Lemes will both make their debuts for Os Cobras as will Argentine prop José Santucho
Head Coach Nicolás Galatro continues with Franco Molina as captain
Galatro’s line-up sees Molina leading a team with just one change
Old Resian winger Nahuel Romero comes in to the side
Molina captained Los Dogos to a dominant 56-8 win over the American Raptors in Córdoba
It was a mismatch as the team from Colorado was throughout outplayed across the set-piece and in open play
Not only does the Argentina XV second-rower lead a stable line-up but the replacements are also settled
The one replacement alteration is that of the inclusion of Club Atlético Estudiantes de Paraná flanker Felipe Villagrán
Los Dogos not have Pumas but the side has plenty of Pumitas and Argentina XV players
there are players more than capable of making the step up to the highest level; indeed
Felipe Contepomi is certain to be paying close attention
In addition to Molina, hooker Boris Wenger, and fellow second-rower Lautaro Simes were both stand-out performers throughout Super Rugby Americas 2023
There is a lot of potential individually and collectively in the back-row of Aitor Bildosola
Agustín Moyano is one player to assume is on Contepomi’s radar
Scrum-half was scrutinized throughout 2023 as a weak point of Los Pumas
The 20-year-old Moyano plus 20-year-old fullback Mateo Soler lead the way as prospective youth options to be capped in the new era
Os Cobras and Los Dogos have crossed paths twice before. Los Dogos won the two prior matches. The first was twelve months ago with Los Dogos winning 31-14 in São Paulo. The second was in April with a home win in Córdoba
It was among the best matches from the 2023 regular season
Brazil has named a 12-man squad to take part in the upcoming Sudamérica Sevens Series
With two spots in the Rugby World Cup Sevens up for grabs

Where other squads have rely heavily on sevens specialists
Brazil’s entire roster are fully capped 15-a-side players with all expected to contend for spots in the Americas Rugby Championship following the conclusion of the two tournaments
In fact only Ariel Rodrigues and Roberto Tenório were not part of Tupis squad on their European Tour in November
though each featured in test matches earlier in 2017
Only four players return from the squad that competed in the Rio Olympics
and the Sancery twins Daniel and Felipe will be asked to play senior roles
Other notables include forwards André Arruda and Matheus Daniel
while versatile Lucas Muller was unlucky to miss out on Olympic selection

Cobras have been given an enormous boost ahead of the Súper Liga Americana de Rugby season
Jardel Vettorato has joined the traveling squad for the first leg in Chile
The 35-year-old tighthead prop is an unexpected addition having last played for Brazil in June 2019
Vettorato is the only name on the list of 30 that was not in the original 39-man long-list
His inclusion comes at the expense of promising youngsters Henrique Ferreira and Joel Ramírez
though it’s not immediately clear if they were available for the trip
It’s also unknown if Vettorato will be considered for international selection in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers
The most notable absentees from the traveling group are hooker Endy Willian
Others from the long-list who did not make the cut are front rowers Alexandre Alves and Brendon Alves

president of Chery Brazil (left) and Wang Mingfang
chairman of Anhui Provincial Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (third from left) take a photo at the inauguration ceremony of Chery's first car plant in Brazil on Aug 28 in Jacarei
Chery Automobile's new factory in Brazil is a vivid example of Chinese industries expanding in the Brazilian market
said Chinese Ambassador to Brazil Li Jinzhang at the factory's inauguration ceremony in Jacarei
"Chery and many other leading Chinese companies are enlarging their investment in Brazil
which shows that Chinese companies are holding high expectations for the future of Brazil's economy and also have confidence in the cooperation between the two countries," Li said on Aug 28
Li's comments were echoed by Brazilian Vice-President Michel Temer
who praised Chery's factory as an example of China-Brazil cooperation
"Chinese investment has been very cautious
but Chery did not hesitate too much," said Temer
"I believe Chery will bring more Chinese companies to Brazil."
Temer said trade between China and Brazil used to mainly concentrate on agricultural products such as soybeans and corns
but that industry is becoming a more important element in the bilateral economic relations
the new plant is Chery's first outside of China
and includes an automobile factory and an engine factory
Construction of the 400,000-square-meter factory started in 2009
Chery will invest $22.3 million in building a research and development center
and is looking to partner with leading universities and technology centers in Sao Paulo
When fully operational with a production capacity of 50,000 cars in the first year
Chery's plant is expected to create 3,000 jobs
It will also serve as the headquarters of Chery in Latin America and export cars to neighboring countries such as Uruguay and Paraguay
"The investment is an important part of our general foreign investment," said Mauro Borges Lemos
Lemos said major improvements are expected soon in Brazil's recovering economy
He said Brazil attaches special attention to the automotive industry and that Chery's local factory represents successful development of the country's automotive policies
Brazil is the world's fourth-largest automobile market and the sixth-largest auto manufacturer
Major automotive enterprises such as General Motors and Volkswagen have built production plants in Brazil
To encourage foreign automobile companies to build plants in Brazil
the government enacted a series of policies such as the 30-percent increase in tax on imported cars in 2012
which provides a 30-percent discount in the excise tax for locally produced cars
Such policies caused international automotive companies to establish production in Brazil
Lifan Industry and JAC Motors are planning to build their first Latin American factories in Brazil
While Chinese automotive companies are increasing their participation in Brazil
a decrease of 13.9 percent compared with that last year
"I believe such a decrease is only temporary
Brazil's automobile market will continue to grow
but it will finally be realized," said Zhou Biren
president of Chery International and vice-president of Chery Automobile

The breweries Ambev and Heineken have been fined heavily in Brazil for the illegal employment in slavery-like conditions of Venezuelan migrants
who will now receive about R $ 657,270 (the US $ 125,000) in compensation
A total of 22 Venezuelan migrants and one Haitian were freed in March 2021 in an operation of the Slave Labor Eradication Program in the state of São Paulo after discovering they had been working in subhuman conditions for the firm Sider
a transport subcontractor of Ambev and Heneiken
who have now to pay damages money to the victims
The migrants lived for months (some more than a year) in the cab of the trucks parked at Sider's headquarters in Limeira and Jacareí
cities in the interior of São Paulo
they did not have access to drinking water
The workers also had to pay for the work uniform
for nationalizing their driving license and for the unforeseen events suffered by the vehicle assigned to them
Heineken and Ambev are accountable for the doings of the outsourced contractor (Sider)
Both brewers were found to act with deliberate blindness by ignoring the proper verification of compliance with the laws by the transport company
to obtain benefits to the detriment of labour protection regulations
The strenuous working day and the degrading conditions due to not having accommodation
are conditions that the contractor [Ambev and the Heineken Group] should have controlled, said labour inspector Lívia dos Santos Ferreira in a report
“The Heineken Group failed to choose and hire Sider as a transportation service provider
by not inspecting or requiring that the contractor complied with labour laws and
by failing to guarantee directly the hygiene
health and safety conditions of the rescued workers,” the report went on
One of the Venezuelan victims explained to Spanish newspaper El País that when workers complained about the abusive treatment
supervisors simply told them to return to their country
in a space where I could only lie down and sleep
The Heineken Group claimed in a statement it learned of the case through the Regional Labor Superintendency
and that it actively collaborated to guarantee all the fundamental rights of workers
The company also said that all suppliers undergo a rigorous selection process and sign a code of conduct in which they commit to fully comply with labour and human rights laws
Ambev stated that as soon as they learned of the situation
they immediately made sure that the drivers were transferred to a hotel
where they were given shelter and received the necessary support
«Following the guidelines and with the agreement of the labour inspectors
we ensure the payment of all labour compensation and that the transport company will facilitate the return of the drivers to their place of origin or bring their families
The monthly remuneration of these workers varied between 1,900 and 4,000 reais (between 360 and 750 dollars); However
the worker only reached the maximum wage when he was subjected to all these violations
living in the cab of the truck and without days off
Sider offered workers the possibility to sell their days off
because the company did not offer them accommodation
and desperate to save money to help their families at home
inspectors found that this practice constituted an abuse of the vulnerability of the immigrant worker

He cast his rod happily here for 30 years -- but where a river once teemed with fish
Brazilian fisherman Ernane da Silva these days stares out over a valley of weeds and bone dry
The southeastern state of Sao Paulo is suffering its worst drought in 80 years with scores of towns sounding the alarm
unseasonably high temperatures and creeping urbanization
"I was one of the first fishermen to arrive here and today I am one of the last still here," says Da Silva
standing by the Jacarei dam 110 kilometers (70 miles) outside Sao Paulo
How could I ever have imagined there would one day be no more water?" he asks incredulously
The problem of severe drought affects millions of inhabitants of Brazil's most populous and developed region
Da Silva says he has abandoned his home by the banks of the Jacarei River
part of Sao Paulo's Cantareira system of five dams built in the 1970s supplying water to 45 percent of the metropolitan region of 20 million people
This year has forced him to fish further upriver where water levels are higher
But he has no idea if that will be possible next year with water levels having already hit an historic low
October to March rainfall in the area was insufficient and in November dropped to 90 millimeters
well short of the average 161.2 millimeters
"The lack of rainfall was especially severe this year
accompanied by high temperatures in winter as well as in summer
speeding up evaporation of the dams," meteorologist Marcelo Schneider told Agence France Presse
both the population and demand for water were higher,"
suffered a serious drought in 2001 and also at the start of the 1960s
Although the economic fallout from the current crisis has yet to be calculated experts warn the supply system faces collapse and say drought is not merely a climate issue
"It is important to know if we are ready or not to confront it," Maria Assuncao Silva
from Sao Paulo University's Department of Atmospheric Sciences
Experts point to a lack of investment and infrastructure as well as failure to stock water in years of more plentiful supply
They add that demand for supplies from Cantareira is now overwhelming the system and also blame poor management
residents from central Sao Paulo right out to the fringes of the giant city are increasingly up in arms over periodic supply cuts
Sao Paulo's biggest water company Sabesp says rationing is not necessary
a view shared by freshly re-elected governor Geraldo Alckmin
who has announced construction of a water recycling plant as well as new supply reservoirs
But some of the state's 40 million population have already suffered rationing in areas where Sabesp does not operate
Some experts blame an upturn in deforestation as a key factor behind the drought
"The exceptional drought that southeastern Brazil
is suffering could be the result of the destruction of Amazonia," says Antonio Donato Nobre
a researcher with Brazil' National Institute of Space Research (INPE)
"Amazonia exports humidity and brings rain to the southeast
the center-west and south of Brazil but also other regions of Bolivia
Paraguay and Argentina across thousands of kilometers," Nobre told AFP
of the Sao Paulo Federation of Industry (FIESP)
says "the region is facing its worst ever crisis
This year the rainfall levels are well down on those of last year which were already critical
"If it doesn't rain in 2015 we could have a really serious crisis on our hands
It is essential to reduce consumption as much as possible -- every drop of water is important."
Scientists stress that heavy Asia-Pacific rainfall
rising ocean temperatures and drought in California are all inter-connected and part of the same global climactic imbalance
concrete-laden cities and their lack of vegetation only add to the problem
"This drought has changed my life," laments Da Silva

Rodolfo Ambrosio has named his Brazil squad for the 2016 South American ‘A’ Championship. Following on the wildly successful Americas Rugby Championship that included an historic win over the US Eagles
the Head Coach has maintained virtually the same group of players
with only three new names that did not take part in the new flagship Americas competition
and Desterro centre Philip Ramos are the new players
with Domingues coming into the group from the national sevens squad
Only one specialist hooker is named in Yan Rosetti
but the presence of six props suggests either Rafael Carnivalle or Jonatas Paulo will be asked to cover the position
Australian-based flyhalf David Harvey will miss out
as will France-based second row Luiz Vieira
with the duo securing an early release from their contract with Pro D2 club Albi to play for local club São José in order to concentrate on Olympic preparations at the conclusion of the Championship series

Company has created a new energy technologies division
concentrating on strategic planning and research and development
Changsha-based heavy equipment manufacturer Sany
which in Brazil chiefly serves the mining industry
is preparing to explore the potential renewable energy segment
Sany Brazil’s director Neo Wang said that this year the company will continue to focus on the mining sector
but that the “bet for the future is renewable energy”
“We will invest not only in the electrification of the fleet
but also in renewable energy generation in the wind power chain,” Wang said
“The electrical equipment market has grown globally
We have created a new energy technologies division
research and development and the incubation of the high-tech industry
of which 20 have been launched with hybrid and electric equipment”
The electric equipment line still represents a small portion of the equipment offered in the domestic market by Sany
mining machinery sales continue to enjoy strong growth
but load-lifting equipment and telescopic handlers are also performing well
“this entire market should maintain steady growth
sustained mainly by pressures to reduce pollutant emissions
Sany Brazil is headquartered at the Jacareí unit
and is opening a new branch in Santa Catarina state
Photo taken on in February shows machine shop trucks in Chinese multinational heavy machinery manufacturing company Sany in San Jose Dos Campos
Chinese Sany Group has gained a proven track record in Brazil due to its localization strategy
The construction industry in Brazil has been traditionally dominated by US
has managed to access the Brazilian construction machinery and equipment market by controlling costs and innovating
more Chinese enterprises have come to Brazil and many of them have been successful
some have failed to adapt to the Brazilian market
How can a company survive in such a large country which is different from China in many ways
the chairman of Sany Brazil gives his answer: become deeply rooted and utilize careful planning
the small city of Jacarei has become a factory base for two Chinese enterprises
Shortly after the establishment of Chery Automobile’s first car plant
Sany Brazil will build its plant there and become a neighbor of Chery
signed an investment agreement with the Sao Paulo investment bureau
Sany Group plans to invest about $300 million in Brazil to establish the new plant in Jacarei and to carry out the research and development and sales of construction machinery and equipment
Sany Brazil is currently located at Sao Jose dos Campos of Sao Paulo State
Its new plant in Jacarei will cover an area of 560,000 square meters and is close to the Dutra highway which connects Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro
the first phase of the plant area is 50,000 square meters
and is expected to be put into operation in early 2016
the entire plant area will reach 250,000 square meters
Sany Group is not a stranger to Brazilian clients
Sany Brazil has become an important supplier of construction machinery and equipment
Yuan said that their development process in Brazil can be divided into four stages: the sales of imported Sany equipment from 2007 to 2009; initial development after a $200 million investment in 2010; assembly of excavators
lifting and concrete pumping machinery in 2011; a manufacturing phase that started in 2013 and finally after the 560,000-square-meter plant being built in Jacarei
Sany Brazil will be fully rooted in Brazil
The 2014 FIFA World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games provide an unprecedented boom not only for Brazil’s construction equipment market
Brazil became the largest importer of Chinese truck cranes
Yuan said that although European and American brands have been entrenched in Brazil’s construction equipment market for many years
Chinese crane enterprises have come from behind to currently occupy 85 percent of the local market of which Sany Brazil controls 37 percent and has been ranked first for two consecutive years
Sany’s Brazilian sales were only 200 million yuan ($32.6 million)
but by building assembly lines and increasing investment
it enhanced the sales to 7.1 billion yuan in 2011 and 10.5 billion yuan in 2012
Yuan expects that after the new plant is operational in early 2016
the annual production capacity of Sany Brazil’s large-scale construction machinery products will probably reach some 3,000 units while sales will increase to 20 billion yuan
Sany Brazil also has had to develop what Yuan calls a sense of crisis
“To achieve long-term business development
Currently the macroeconomic situation in Brazil has fallen sharply and in the future it is bound to spread the crisis to the field of construction machinery and equipment
one should remove the so-called superfluous
Sany begins to calculate its product cost in order to find competitive advantages
“Sany Brazil’s crane market share is ranked first
but that share is mainly concentrated in the low end
but the profit margin is not high,” said Yuan
Brazilian clients are still not willing to buy Chinese brands and instead opt for European and American brands
The same circumstance also happened in the market for excavators
Brazil is very open in the field of construction machinery
Japan and Germany have invested and built plants in Brazil
“European and American brands have been in Brazil for many years and have much stronger influence
Chinese enterprises need long-term management and accumulation to penetrate and achieve long-term stable operation through leasing companies,” said Yuan
In order to shorten the gap with foreign competitors
