Viz Media is releasing the manga in English
Asakura and Obata launched the manga in Shueisha's Jump SQ. magazine in October 2021
Viz Media released the manga's seventh volume on March 18
Obata and Ohba serialized Death Note from 2003 to 2006 and Bakuman. from 2008 to 2012, both in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. Viz Media publishes both in North America
Both manga have inspired anime and live-action adaptations
WEBTOON Entertainment announced on Friday it will release Hiromu Arakawa's Fullmetal Alchemist manga on its English-language platform starting on May 7
The series will be presented in full color and reformatted for WEBTOON's vertical-scroll format
X-Men: The Manga Remastered Vol. 1 was published last November and was followed up by Volume 2 in March.
X-Men: The Manga had been out of print for 25 years before Viz brought it back last fall
so the $17 deal will probably disappear before the offer on Volume 1
1 is a 512-page paperback collecting the first handful of issues from the manga adaptation of X-Men: The Animated Series
The manga originally debuted in the US in 1998 and ran for 26 issues
the manga adaptation only made it through Season 2
a teenager with mutant superpowers who wants an ordinary life
Jubilation links up with the X-Men and squares off against Juggernaut
and other villains from the Marvel universe
Volume 1 of the remastered manga was published in November 2024
the 33% discount at Amazon is the best deal we've seen since launch
and it has rarely received discounts from its $30 price
We wouldn't expect this steep 42% discount to be available for very long
this paperback clocks in at 512 pages and contains a handful of chapters from the original run
X-Men: The Manga was originally released across 13 volumes in Japan before being split into 26 chapters when it was translated to English
you'll have just over half of the 26 total issues (chapters) that were originally released in the US
the remasters cover the story arc from Season 1 of X-Men: The Animated Series
Viz Media hasn't announced subsequent volumes
but it seems likely that two more paperbacks are in the works

we not only get a sense of who heroine Wakana Kinme is
but also the town of Atami and its residents too
Hattori sets up the manga Wash It All Away both as a slice-of-life series and mystery from the very start
and offers the sorts of personal touches like pick-up and delivery and preservation
while she’s incredibly experienced and acquired the necessary requisites to offer those services
She doesn’t remember anything past the last two years
that doesn’t stop her from getting absorbed in things she loves (laundry and hot springs) and connecting with people around her
we also get a chance to see what the community is like as well
we get to peek in at the lives at quite a few different people
While her first two customers in the series are two elderly ladies
Asami Yagara is a fashionable younger woman about the same age as her who brought in her husband’s suits
High schooler Kyu Ishimochi and his mom Koshimi bring not only their own laundry
Nairo and her mother are clearly travelers and seem to not be from around Atami
with the grade schooler Nairo initially being hesitant about going into Kinme
but she quickly becomes fascinated by Wakana’s processes and as enthusiastic about it as the young woman
So we’re seeing people of different ages and from different groups and getting peeks at what their lives are like in Atami as well
The background art is also quite helpful in setting the stage and helping us understand Atami
As Wakana runs around town performing deliveries
Hattori shares a lot of art that sets the scene
as well as get some glimpses of the sea and shore
An impression of it being bustling is given
seeing as how groups will talk to her as she exercises and she’s giving folks from out of town directions in another shot
highlighting the sorts of festivals happening during warmer seasons
I also love the balance between showcasing Atami as a place where people generally live and as a possible tourist hotspot
We see how popular Nairo’s grandmother’s store
which sells local specialties and fish to tourists
as evidenced by Wakana’s task there being to clean and help preserve Nairo’s grandfather’s flag
We catch glimpses of how important the Atami Marine Firework Festival is to the town
both via the business it brings to Kyu’s family’s inn and when Wakana actually watches the show from the roof of Kinme Cleaning
But even with the crowds and scenes that show this is clearly a busy place
people like Wakana still work at their own pace and make time for each other and simple pleasures like hot springs and baths
I feel like there are two reasons I’d keep reading the Wash It All Away manga
and finding out the mystery behind Wakana’s past and amnesia is only a small part of it
retains its sense of community and personality
and the pace of life in this place feels just as important as the star
Volume 1 of Wash It All Away is available via Square Enix now, and volume 2 of the manga will debut on June 17, 2025.

After the future was foretold on the battlefield ahead of them
Prince Tenyou receives a letter from Ahkil
whom we previously met when he exchanged information on Sougetsu’s collar
The letter talks about his clairvoyant vision of the battlefield ahead
they called his beast servant Boku for a private meeting
They have him read the letter and propose that Boku die in his stead so that they can save the prince
Rangetsu is also assigned to take part in the battle
She swears that she will find a way to prevent both of their deaths
even though she is uncertain how she will manage to pull that off
which was to be used as a teleportation point for Kougai’s assassination
Rangetsu and Boku team up to thin their numbers
Tenyou suspects that there is a mole within the palace and has an idea of who that might be
he mentions something very ominous that was also contained in Akhil’s letter
The major focus of development here was on Boku
as we received a nice bit of backstory for him
It talked about how his father was a violent drunk and how he was sold to Prince Kougai
Kougai was the one who gave him the name of Boku
This explains why he so readily agreed to lay down his life so that Kougai could live
Throwing his arcana around and wearing himself out proves that he would go to any lengths to protect Kougai
and if exhausting his arcana would result in his death
Despite being grateful for everything Kougai gave him
he’s also unable to grasp that there are other solutions he could use to protect them both
His loyalty is blinding him and making him just do as he’s told
Boku will just go on autopilot until the order is fulfilled
but sometimes you have to take in others’ feelings and viewpoints before making irrational decisions like that
This is a lesson that Boku is in the middle of learning
showed that she has quite the frisky side… although she did use it to get some information out of Prince Tenyou
it’s usually Tenyou making those types of moves
She’s learning to be a bit more forward with her feelings
Another volume that flew by due to a lot of action scenes… both on the battlefield and in the bedroom
there was some great story progression here
It wasn’t as black and white as trying to preserve Prince Kougai’s life
It was about struggling to find the right path
and discovering that the problem ran a bit deeper than they had originally expected
When they find the person who was suspected of being the mole
it adds a decent amount of gravity and drama to the story
the final line that Boku muttered about Akhil’s letter showed that they completely underestimated the situation
What started off as a singular goal has now been revealed to have many potential outcomes… none of them good
This means that Rangetsu could have bitten off more than she could chew
but we won’t know the extent of that until the next volume
what was mentioned may not pertain to the battlefield alone
and given what we were shown earlier about the mole
there’s a good chance that the warning covers multiple locations
we are facing a world fighting back against the inclusion of Ajin as equal to humans

Two years later, something unexpected happened. We were placed in the same fourth-grade class and sat side by side. I was bracing myself for another year of war, of fighting for my life to be the best. The awkward silence and the dread that I felt in the pit of my stomach soon faded as she pulled out a manga, turned to me, and softly asked, “Do you like Sailor Moon?”
When Sailor Moon first aired in the early 1990s, it arrived like a pastel-colored meteorite. There was truly nothing like it for girls. It wasn’t just another anime, it was changing lives and sending a message to young girls that we are not each other’s competition, we are each other’s strongest allies and assets. Yes, there are cosmic battles, villains named after minerals, and an endless array of transformation sequences. But at its heart, Sailor Moon is a story about friendship.

Link Image: MAPPA/NetflixEntertainmentAnimeNetflix’s anime adaptation Rose of Versailles speedruns a story that needs more timeIt’s gorgeous
but it held a constant place on my perpetually growing backlog
After the first teaser for Netflix and MAPPA’s Rose of Versailles movie
I did some preliminary research and learned that Ikeda dove into themes of revolution
all with gorgeous art and poignant love stories woven throughout
which would let me experience all the highs I’d heard about
but visually updated for a slicker era of anime
But about 20 minutes into Netflix’s Rose of Versailles movie
with the story rushing through character development and plot points
I wanted so desperately to feel an emotional connection to these beautifully animated characters
but this version of the story didn’t even give me a chance
Maybe if I were more familiar with the source material
this project would feel more like a greatest-hits highlight reel with some spectacular animation
it’s puzzling: I kept feeling like I’d accidentally fast-forwarded past some key moment
note: This review contains some setup spoilers for Netflix’s movie The Rose of Versailles.]
The manga follows the lives of these two women as they grow from teenagers into adults, grappling with the expectations of being female and contending with France’s increasing societal unrest. Oscar also shares a close friendship with her childhood friend and attendant André, while Marie falls for visiting Swedish count von Fersen. Eventually, Oscar starts to sympathize with the peasants and becomes a key figure in the French Revolution. And, well, we know how it ends for Marie.
Some of the emotional scenes almost moved me, but I had to pull up the manga and anime adaptations’ Wikipedia pages and quickly read the episode and chapter summaries to figure out what important plot points were glossed over in the most recent musical montage. The only relationship I fully bought by the movie’s end was André and Oscar’s friendship and slow-burn romance, simply because they have the most interaction beyond the musical sequences.
The Rose of Versailles is streaming on Netflix now. The 1979 anime adaptation is streaming on Pluto TV.
