Joseph invites attention to the many ways in which the Holy Patriarch is present in the life of the whole Church
there is a modern parish dedicated to the Patronage of St
This year we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the proclamation of the Patronage of St
placed the Church under his intercession and protection.
and encourages us to "go to Joseph" in this hard time: to live his virtues
to become aware of the need for the figure of the father and to welcome his intercession
Teresa already said "that there is no thing that is asked of him that he will not grant it."
we find the only parish in Madrid whose titular is the Patronage of St
In the parish baptismal books we find the first inscription on January 1
similar to many others that began their journey at that time of the diocesan life
and specifically in the first floor of San Anselmo Street
In Alto de Palomeras there was a colony with the name of St
and currently remains as a memory of that time the St
the parish was also placed under the patronage of St
collecting the feeling and life of the neighborhood
Twelve years ago the new parish church was built
which dignifies and beautifies this sector of Vallecas
we live day by day with the certainty that we are on a pilgrimage towards the goal of which St
"With a Father's Heart"says the title of Pope Francis' letter
in the parish facilities live families who have migrated in search of prosperity and receive support on this path to move forward and progress
We feed materially a good number of families
and we offer them a point of support to overcome and move forward
To clothe those who are cold is the purpose of the humble closet
humble and simple grain of sand that transmits something essential and that is born from the entrails of Nazareth: to accompany
to make together this path towards the Homeland that knows no sunset
The ardent charity is a very Nazareth aspect
who at the head of this family strove and struggled to make family
Our parish consists of two floors and a visible tower
to put in communication and integrate heaven and earth
Faith gives meaning and opens horizons to the earthly journey
The architectural structure thus helps us to understand the challenge we have in our hands
since it is not in vain that he resounds as the patron of the parish of the Patronage of St
This parish in the style of Nazareth wants to be a neighbor among neighbors
and one of its desires is the spirituality of the neighborhood
we wish to make visible and real what iconography and painting present to us of St
Joseph with the Child Jesus in his hands.
We do not exhaust ourselves in our problems
everything does not end at the end of the street
violence and abuse do not have the last word
Valuing so many efforts and hopeful gestures
we wish to contemplate the Presence of the One who has not left us alone and is our strength: Christ Incarnate and Alive among us
in the desire to integrate the human and the divine
understanding that Nazareth is home for all
monthly meetings of catechesis on the Holy Patriarch
some charitable work and a carving by popular subscription that we want to put in a garden of the parish
we want to bring life to this year dedicated to St

Beekeeper Nick French never knows what he'll find when he opens up his hives for the first spring inspections
French loses about one-quarter of his colonies every year
"I work all summer long to raise healthy bees, but there are no guarantees they'll make it through the winter," says French, founder of Frangiosa Farm
Recent years have been especially hard on beekeepers. The latest research shows that beekeepers have lost almost a third of their hives over the winter — and replacing them is expensive. "Losing bees is like watching dollar bills fly out the window," says Tanya Phillips, beekeeper and founder of Bee Friendly Austin
A few creative beekeepers have come up with a new source of funding: They're inviting bee supporters to "adopt a hive."
Adopters pay a fee in exchange for honey from their "adopted" bees and an adoption certificate acknowledging their support
The Adopt A Bee program at Frangiosa Farm was introduced in 2012
The one-time adoption fees per hive range from $45 to $130 (the latter gets you three jars of honey)
French signed up 25 adopters the first year; last year
Adopting a hive is about more than increasing honey sales — it's a matter of survival
you'd go out of business with the kind of losses beekeepers experience," French says
"I couldn't keep going without community support."
The programs take advantage of public concern and raise awareness of the plight of bees
Beekeepers are experiencing average annual losses of more than 30 percent, according to Bee Informed Partnership
a nonprofit collaboration of universities and research labs studying honeybee losses
In managed colonies (hives raised by beekeepers), losses can be caused by a number of factors, including parasites, pesticides, loss of forage and colony collapse disorder, according to David Tarpy
a professor and extension apiculturist for North Carolina State University
Bees are essential to the health of the food supply
More than 100 different crops — about one-third of the foods we eat — depend on pollination from bees and other pollinators
it's honeybees that do the bulk of the pollination for agricultural crops
"Honeybees provide a service that native bees cannot," Tarpy says
"And beekeepers face uncertainty every single year about whether or not they'll have enough bees to match pollination demands."
Packages of bees to populate a new hive are upwards of $100 per hive
Splitting the bees from an existing hive into two new hives is free — but it curbs honey production as bees work to populate their new colonies and boost honey stores
And when infectious diseases like American foulbrood strike
beekeepers often burn affected hives to prevent it from spreading
The concept of adopt-a-hive programs is catching on. In addition to the four-year-old program at Frangiosa Farm, there is a similar initiative at University of Hawaii, Hilo
the Bee Friends Farm program promises adopters will make 60,000 new friends when they adopt a hive for $35
The fee covers adoption benefits like a bottle of honey
adoption certificate and a photo of a hive with the adopter's name on it
Bee Friendly Austin introduced an Adopt-a-Beehive program this spring
Rather than use the $49 adoption fee to cover the cost of her bee losses — which Phillips estimates are just between 5 and 10 percent of her colonies per year
thanks to the temperate Texas climate — Phillips plans to use adoption fees to support new beekeepers
The fees from all hive adoptions will be donated to the launch of a local master beekeeper program
"The only way to help the bees is to teach people how to raise them right," Phillips says
beekeepers would be forced to raise the price of honey to offset the costs of colony losses
The combination of support for bees and beekeepers alike make Tarpy a fan of the programs
"It's a powerful means of giving everyday citizens a chance to support our beleaguered honeybee population by supporting those who manage their colonies," he says
"It's a lot easier to replace bees than to replace beekeepers."

PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE 2020
“Our industry has the responsibility and the power to be part of this transformation”
by European Film Promotion
11/05/2020 - Selected as one of EFP’s 2020 Producers on the Move
talked to us before the online event kicks off
Selected as one of the 2020 Producers on the Move by European Film Promotion, Portuguese producer Mário Patrocinio, of BRO Cinema
talks to us before the online event kicks off
European Film Promotion: Corona is a real challenge for the whole film industry: What does it means to you?Mário Patrocinio: Release dates were postponed
and in some cases content went straight to the streaming platforms by-passing classical cinema releases who were already facing their own troubles
mostly freelance people got into very difficult situations
It is a difficult new reality we are living in
so we have to adapt and maybe change things that were overdue and taking too long to take place
We will have protocols and safety guidelines to follow
Medical staff will be part of the crew and there will be many restrictions on set
especially in the interaction between actors
One of the major challenges will be the production insurance
because if an actor gets sick from Covid-19 the set will be shut down and enter into quarantine
Will there be reliable quick Covid-19 tests to be used daily even before we enter the set
Streaming services already had a boom so with this situation they got even stronger
they are screaming out for content and we have to be able to deliver
But we can't forget that we all lived something unique and new
We had time to think about life and reevaluate the world we lived in
I believe and hope this experience will be transported in to the scripts we will develop
Will this experience transform the depth of our stories and scripts
Will this experience be a turning point in the way to create a better world for all of us to live in
so our industry has the responsibility and the power to be part of this transformation
We can create stories that allow us to reflect on the world we live in but also on the world we want to create
This year’s edition of Producers on the Move will be completely digitally
Is it still a chance for you?All opportunities count
but with this new situation a lot has changed
We will be pioneering Producers on the move 2020 online
and i am sure we will all do our best to make it happen
What do you think are the specificities of the industry in your country? One of the biggest challenges in my country is to regain Portuguese people's interest in national cinema
There is a lot of work to be done and i want to contribute to a transformation of the current system in order to favor local talent
the quality of the projects and also the co-production agreements
We also need to bring to the Portuguese cinema a wider spectrum in the genres of films produced and supported by our film institute
What was the hardest problem you had to solve as a producer?I have to go back to my first feature documentary film Complexo - Parallel Universe that was shot in one of the most dangerous slums of Rio de Janeiro in a time of war
The slum was surrounded by the Army and after several days of filming in the territory of the biggest drug trafficker in Brazil i decided to leave the slum for a day to guaranty that the footage covered was safe
and it was really strange to leave the slum and suddenly see myself back it that Rio you see in the post cards
Next morning the biggest police operation in history took place with helicopters
special forces entering the territory that was until then considered impenetrable
That’s when it hit me: what if the traffickers thought that all the filming i was doing was the work of an informer for that specific operation
Because it was a huge coincidence that these two unrelated events were happening at the very same time
I had in front of me the choice of just not going back…But if I didn’t
the doubt would remain about my intentions and I would be breaking the bond of trust
I decided to go back to the slum the next day
A lot of the people that were part of my life over the last few years had been killed
That decision to return defined my sense of responsibility and loyalty to the storytelling and above all to the people that placed their trust in me
Do you take part in the creative/artistic aspects of the film's creation?I see myself as a creative producer
I am not the type of producer that only cares for the economic aspect of the film
I early found that stories can help connect people
passion for what we do and cooperation we can reach a good port
I found myself falling in love with the collaboration
I am inspired by being the common ground that brings everyone together
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?BRO cinema currently has a diverse slate of projects at different stages of development
Much of it originated in the writers’ room and many were developed in cooperation with international partners
We are now in post for Affective Geography
and I hope to start production of my first feature length fiction
As far as 2021 and 2022 we already have several production on the lineup
in a world that focuses on our human development in terms of quality and not just quantity
The paradigm of growing infinitely seems to have proved to us that it is not sustainable in the way it is organised
We need to create a more collaborative ecosystem
and I would like to look back 10 years from now knowing that I contributed to that creation
I would love to look back and see that I made films
series and documentaries with cultural and social relevance
that stimulated the critical thinking of society and contributed positively to the creation of a new world

The image of Nuestra Señora del Patrocinio
The Vatican has authorized the canonical coronation of the centuries-old image of Nuestra Señora del Patrocinio enshrined at a parish church in Cebu province’s Boljoon town
13 announced that it has received the decree from the Congregation of Divine Worship and Discipline of the Sacraments granting the image a pontifical crowning
“This is a blessing for the graces manifested by the many miracles experienced by the people of Boljoon
Cebu and other pilgrims whose prayers were answered through her intercession and who were protected on many occasions
epidemic and pestilence,” said Rouel Longinos
chairman of the Boljoon parish canonical coronation executive committee
the image is also called “Patrocinio de Maria Santisima” (Patronage of the Most Holy Mary) in its more ancient form
“Patrocinio” refers to the Spanish word for “protection” citing the Virgin’s motherly care over the Church
The petition for the canonical coronation of the Patricinio de Maria began in June 2021
around seven months after the image was granted an episcopal coronation by the Cebu archdiocese on Nov
The devotion to Nuestra Señora del Patrocinio is expressed by locals through various cultural programs
particularly the Bolho Festival (Festival of Abundant Water) offered in her honor since 2008 and the annual fiesta every second Saturday of November
Founded as a chapel in 1599 and as a parish in 1690 by the Augustinians
the church of Boljoon has been dedicated to the Patrocinio de Maria for more than four centuries
the church itself was declared as a national historical landmark by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines in 1999
the National Museum of the Philippines also declared the church a National Cultural Treasure
as part of the closing ceremonies of the archdiocese’s celebration of 500 Years of Christianity in the Philippines
Boljoon’s image is the third Marian statue to be granted a pontifical coronation in the archdiocese
The two others are Nuestra Señora de la Regla enshrined at her national shrine in Lapu-Lapu City and Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe
venerated at the Our Lady Guadalupe Shrine in Cebu City
Spanning four floors, House Patrocinio is located in Lisbon
Portugal and it’s a house like no other
with its lush vertical garden exterior and its rooftop lap pool
Underneath all of the green is a rectangular tower of a building but the facade
and the approximately 4,500 plants that cover it
Designed by Rebelo de Andrade
the plant-covered exterior contains about 25 different Iberian and Mediterranean varieties of plants
The street level floor houses the garage and the mechanics of the home
while the first floor is the family’s private level
which is appropriate since the open top floor is the deck with a truly awesome lap pool
I have one question though – how in the world do they water and weed the walls
It gives you great views of the city from every angle
I’m not sure if he’s floating or swimming…
Notice the circles on the bottom of the pool
You can spy on people in the room below or catch a glimpse of whomever is swimming laps up above
The narrow structure’s four levels are connected by a really long staircase
The glass panels on the ceiling and the front of the house make the staircase so light-filled and airy
It also helps flood the house with natural light

Slow-moving lava has come within two and half blocks of homes in San José el Rodeo
the residents of small communities living around Guatemala’s Pacaya volcano wake wondering if the lava will reach their homes
One slow-moving flow descending the volcano has advanced between El Patrocinio and San José el Rodeo
the lava has advanced to within two and a half blocks of the outermost homes
a 38-year-old homemaker in one of those houses
has lived there her entire life and said she was used to the volcanic activity
“These last three days the lava stopped; we hope it stays there,” Quezada said
Local authorities had spoken to residents about moving the community to another location about 62 miles (100km) away
“As if you’re going to go from here to a little piece of land!” she said
not even thieves … The options they give you don’t compare with what we have here.”

It is a popular tourist destination and 21 communities surround it
a chasm opened in one of the volcano’s flanks and lava began to flow
Meanwhile ash and gases spewed from its crater
Even if the lava doesn’t reach their homes
the ash has damaged their corn crops and the pastures where their cows graze
the president of the Urban and Rural Development Community Council
Pineda, 67, can recall various eruptions during his lifetime
I was a child and lava also came out of a fissure in the volcano – that time it was 20km of lava,” he said
“we believe that at least 50% of the homes in the community would be destroyed because of the lava’s path”
There is an evacuation plan if the situation worsens
Approaching the lava you can feel the ambient temperature rise
There’s a light sulfur smell and you can hear a crunching
Maybe someone can help us on the international level,” Pineda said
The Mass and coronation was led by Archbishop Charles John Brown
Also among those in attendance were Palo Archbishop John Du
Cebu Auxiliary Bishop Midyphil Billones and the Cebu clergy
the papal nuncio noted that “we can say that Patrocinio means ‘patronage’
María Santísima means the ‘most Holy Mary’.”
She is our Mother who loves us with deep and maternal love,” Brown said
Palma in his thanksgiving message mentioned that “we manifest our gratitude to Mama Mary for being a Mother to us
and for being a Patron to us since the beginning of this parish in 1606 until this time.”
Brown and Palma placed the crowns blessed in the name of Pope Francis to the images of the Mother and Child and a scepter was placed in the Virgin’s hand
who was also present during 2nd National Mission Congress in Cebu from April 18 to 22 that culminates the Quincentennial Year of the Catholic Church in the Philippines

we should be thanking God for the gift of faith
the gift of being able to say ‘I believe’ — I believe in God.”

According to the Canonical Coronation Committee
the image’s aureola or the halo with 12 stars is figured as “crafted waves
whose name is derived from the word “bolho” which is translated as ‘springs of water’ as the abundance of water is one of the town’s trademarks.”
