who spent a period of volunteer missionary work in Brazil
for the 50th anniversary of the Venerable's death
which opened with the entrance of the flags of Brazil

the qualities of the Venerable were presented at the altar
The brick represented the constructions made by the Italian volunteers; a basket with books stood as a reminder of his action as a catechist; and an indigenous man from Sangradouro carried the basket with bread

and we want this story to live in the present." At the end of the celebration
some witnesses animated a prayer vigil: past pupil and Youth Center volunteer Ana Rita Sol Martins
emphasized Attilio's dedication to the little ones
a volunteer from "Operation Mato Grosso" who witnessed Attilio's death at the "São Vicente" Institute in Campo Grande
related anecdotes and experiences he had alongside the Salesian Cooperator
who is now on his way to being recognized as a saint

Brazil – February 2024 – On 24 February
the activities of the Pibuiwena Arte Xavante Project began at the São João Batista Youth Centre
belonging to the Salesian Province of Brazil-Campo Grande (BCG)
The main objective of the initiative is to promote the production of indigenous crafts among indigenous families living in the urban area of the city
also to help improve the financial income of this segment of the population
The project will also serve to form local indigenous populations on topics such as financial education
interpersonal relationships and customer service
and at the end of this course a certificate will be issued to the participants
The formation takes place through groups of dialogue and exchange and the activities of the project will be publicised through social networks
institutional videos and testimonies of the participants
the Pibuiwena Arte Xavante project also includes traditional cultural presentations
the organisation has used resources to create personalised T-shirts and labels
packaging and consumables for the workshops
The initiative has the support of the Legislative Assembly of Mato Grosso
through an amendment by former deputy Xuxu dal Molin

the Poxoréu São João Batista Youth Centre welcomed the young people from Salesian Social Works in different districts of the city as well as the Alto Coité district
The event was opened by the young people from the AJS (Articulação Juvenil Salesiana – the Salesian Youth Movement in Brazil)
who presented a show called "The real Christmas"
The Christmas party at the São João Batista Youth Centre is a tradition that has been renewed for 18 years and that mobilises many people
This year the event brought together around 1,500 young people
This beautiful tradition is made possible by the collaboration of various partners and municipal departments which have contributed with aid and donations

Brazil – January 2024 – The 15th expedition of the Academic Project of Assistance to Indigenous Peoples (PAAPI) 2023/2024 began in the Salesian Indigenous Missions in Sangradouro and Meruri
The project is an initiative of students from the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Santos (UNILUS)
whose objective is to promote health and prevent diseases in the indigenous territories of Boe-Bororo and Xavante
from the first to the third year of medicine
arrived on 13 January at the Salesian presences in Meruri and Sangradouro
the missionary volunteers organised a health centre and the various play
sports and painting activities with the children
as well as serving snacks to all participants
(ANS - Jarudori) - The Travelling Missionary Support Programme is one of the initiatives of the Salesian Mission in Mato Grosso (Campo Grande Province)
Its aim is to support the work of the Salesians who work in missions among the natives
made up of the Salesian Brothers Ludwig Würstle and Mario Bordignon and the technician Osmar Paulino Guarienti Bezerra
drilled a well 30 metres deep and built hydraulic and electrical systems in the Bororo village of Jarudori near Poxoréu

 They kept the same logo but changed the name to Travelling Missionary Support
The project continues to provide support to missionaries in the maintenance of machinery
the construction and maintenance of hydropower plants and more recently has engaged in the construction of wells in areas that need a clean water supply.  In recent years have been built more than 250 wells.
