I want a MALL – not housing – not hotel – but somewhere I can go for quality shopping
entertainment and a fun place to spend time with friends – it used to be like that
I remember when everyone fought for parking spaces at the mall
We don’t need a Home Depot when we already have two within close distance. We don’t need a hotel – Citrus Heights is not a “Go To” place for conventions or sports and is not near a freeway. As Carly Harms stated in her letter on April 19th, I fear what the clientele would be
I’m not a fast food eater but I understand and respect that many people are
Citrus Heights is already saturated with drive-through restaurants and I really crave something better – but I know that In ‘n Out is extremely popular and not near us and it sounds like it would attract a lot of customers so that would make sense
I remember when La Bou was at the Sunrise Mall and
I ate there all the time – it had healthy
reasonably priced food with take-out option – I miss it
I certainly don’t understand all the legalities of the relationship between Ethan Conrad and the City of Citrus Heights
but truly believe that someone has to buy him and any other owners out because they obviously don’t know or care about what the residents of Citrus Heights want
I don’t understand why are they allowed to just sit on it or offer unacceptable options
the Mall property is the only “Jewel” we have left in Citrus Heights and there has to be a common sense solution to making it a “I want to go” place again
I don’t want to have to go to Roseville or Folsom

The John Kobylt Show Hour 1 (05/02) - John goes scorched-earth on Sacramento lawmakers after a Democratic-led bill fails—one that would’ve made it a felony to buy 16- or 17-year-olds for sex in California
It’s a legal loophole that leaves the state alone in the nation where such a crime is still treated as a misdemeanor
John breaks down the disturbing reality of the Assembly’s refusal to act
questions the twisted logic behind opposing the bill
and wonders if some politicians have personal reasons for keeping this loophole alive
John asks: who exactly are these legislators protecting

and it isn't taking long for changes to come to the rest of the coaching staff as well
The Athletic's Anthony Slater and Sam Amick announced that the Kings are expected to let go of Jay Triano
who was a lead assistant under Mike Brown and Christie for the latter half of last season
as well as Jawad Williams and three other assistant coaches
The Kings will not retain lead assistant Jay Triano as part of Doug Christie’s staff, sources tell me and @Sam_Amick
Continues organizational overhaul: Jawad Williams and three other assistants also out.Leandro Barbosa will remain as part of Christie’s reworked staff
as all of the assistant coaches were chosen by Brown and not Christie
it's also no surprise that Leandro Barbosa will remain with the Kings and help build out the new staff under Christie
The two appeared to have a close connection and work together as assistant coaches the last three seasons
Triano was not only the lead assistant but the most experienced coach on the Kings bench
as well as the offensive coordinator of the group
His departure means that the Kings offense could get a major overhaul next year with someone else running the helm of the offense
Jawad Williams was the director of player development
leaving another important position vacant for the time being
It's a role that former King Bobby Jackson has specialized in in the past
Adding onto the mid-season departure of Luke Loucks
the Kings coaching staff is getting a major overhaul this offseason
which should be the case under a new head coach and isn't uncommon
Christie was dealt an extremely tough hand last season when he took over
It was clear during the season that Christie was taking on a lot of the responsibilities himself
but also one who had to do more than most with limited resources
Worth noting that Triano - the former Raptors, Suns and Canadian team head coach - still had time left on his deal. Jawad Williams, Riccardo Fois, Robbie Lemons and Sam Logwood also out, per sources. https://t.co/CNrD3mHIj2
Time will tell who he brings in to help him during the season
but ideally he'll find someone with experience to help replace Triano and the other assistants
Either way, this marks another series of changes to the Kings as they head into an offseason overhaul from top-down.

playSacramento State's top plays of the season (1:56)Check out the best plays from Sacramento State during the 2024-25 college basketball season
Shaquille O'Neal has agreed to become the Sacramento State men's basketball general manager
Retired NFL quarterback Andrew Luck last year accepted the GM position with his old school
O'Neal won four NBA titles, three NBA Finals MVPs and a league MVP during his 19-year career in the NBA. He is currently an analyst on TNT's "Inside the NBA" show. He also served as a minority owner of the Sacramento Kings from 2013 to 2022
Sacramento State is slated to open a new basketball facility on campus this fall
an alum and the youngest president ever appointed in the California State University system
has been aggressive in his approach with the athletic programs -- and the addition of Shaquille O'Neal continues that
The Hornets hired Bibby, a 14-year NBA veteran and former Kings star, last month. He replaced Michael Czepil, who served as interim head coach for the 2024-25 season after David Patrick left to take a job as associate head coach at LSU
Sacramento State went 7-25 this past season under Czepil and had gone 28-42 in two campaigns with Patrick at the helm
The program has not made an NCAA tournament since moving up to Division I in 1991 and has posted a winning record only twice since then
going 21-12 in 2014-15 and 16-14 in 2019-20
Information from The Associated Press was used in this report
Williams transferred out of UCF to play under the tutelage of Bibby and Shaq at a basketball program adding big names
The freshman guard averaged 5.1 points in 14 minutes per game over 18 games for the Knights last season
Williams left Memphis for UCF following an April 2023 arrest in which he faced nine felonies and a lengthy prison sentence after he was charged for allegedly firing a gun at a car full of people who had arrived at his home
and he pleaded guilty in November 2023 to a single felony count of making criminal threats with provisions that would allow him to avoid jail time
He was sentenced to a year of summary probation in August and his felony charge was reduced to a misdemeanor
clearing the way for him to make his collegiate debut with the Knights last season
as he was away from the team while the legal process played out
Sacramento State is slated to open a new basketball facility on campus this fall. University president Luke Wood, an alum and the youngest president ever appointed in the California State University system, has been aggressive in his approach with the athletic programs, and the additions of Williams, O'Neal and Bibby showcase that.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass returned to Sacramento Wednesday to lobby state leaders for money to help close the city’s nearly $1-billion budget hole
This is Bass’ second visit to the state Capitol in as many months — a homecoming of sorts for a former Assembly speaker who helped navigate the state’s 2009 budget crisis
She is undoubtedly well aware that the state is facing its own economic headwinds
very important that we solidify those relationships,” Bass said Wednesday
restating the importance of keeping the city’s issues front and center even while state legislators fend off their own budgetary crises
because the city was in the rare situation of not having Southern California representation atop either house of the Legislature: Senate Pro Tem Mike McGuire (D-Healdsburg) is from Northern California and Speaker Robert Rivas (D-Hollister) hails from Central California
Two days ago, Bass presented her proposed budget, which would cut more than 2,700 city positions — about 1,650 of them through layoffs. Bass is hoping to avoid those layoffs, either through state funding or by renegotiating promised raises that have added considerable heft to personnel costs for the next fiscal year.
Those rising personnel costs are one of several factors compounding the city’s budget crisis, including the financial toll of the January wildfires and subsequent recovery efforts, spiraling legal payouts and a weakening national economy.
California
Faced with a nearly $1-billion budget shortfall
Bass released a budget after her speech that calls for the elimination of more than 2,700 city positions — including 1,650 layoffs
Bass has repeatedly lobbied Newsom and other state leaders for a relief package that could avert some or all of the job cuts. During her March trip to Sacramento, she and four members of the City Council met with Newsom as well as leaders from both chambers of the Legislature
After that trip, Assemblymember Tina McKinnor (D-Hawthorne), who chairs the Los Angeles County Legislative Delegation, sent a letter signed by 22 other members of the state legislature to the Assembly budget committee requesting funding for the city.
Before Bass’ arrival, some Democrats at the Capitol were confused about her need to return to Sacramento and meet with lawmakers so soon after her visit last month. Her appearance was viewed by those Democrats as more about style than substance, giving her an opportunity to stand before cameras and show she is trying to address the city’s budget woes.
The city’s situation is further complicated by the fact that its budget process is happening concurrently with the state’s, meaning the City Council will have to move forward with its budget deliberations before knowing if state money is coming.
The governor’s revision to the state budget will be released in mid-May, so at that point, the city will have some idea of whether substantial resources may be coming from the state. But the revision is just a starting point for final budgetary negotiations between the governor and the Legislature, and the state budget won’t be completed until at least mid-June, weeks after the deadline for the City Council to approve its own budget.
Bass met with legislative leaders Wednesday but did not sit down with Newsom, who is in the middle of preparing his budget revision.
Bass told reporters that she was unable to get onto Newsom’s schedule. She stopped by his office hours later for an unplanned meeting with two of his top aides.
Her request for financial relief from the state could be a tough ask in a challenging budget year for California.
The state is facing higher than expected costs to provide healthcare coverage to low-income residents as well as the potential loss of billions of dollars as a result of federal funding cuts and state revenue declines from President Trump’s tariff policies. The tariffs on foreign imports and retaliatory levies from other countries are expected to hit tourism, agriculture and the technology sector particularly hard.
The state’s financial outlook is dire enough that it could swing from earlier projections of a relatively neutral budget to a staggering deficit in the year ahead.
Bass was joined Wednesday by City Attorney Hydee Feldstein Soto, who was pushing for legislation to be introduced that would cap the damages that plaintiffs in lawsuits can seek against public entities. According to Feldstein Soto, 38 states cap these damages, and she would like to see a similar cap in California.
“We’re trying to bring California more into the mainstream and make sure that we don’t pay taxpayer dollars out unnecessarily or in disproportionate amounts,” Feldstein Soto said.

-- Mike Bibby and Shaquille O'Neal are going to be mixing it up again
No more Sacramento Kings-Los Angeles Lakers rivalry or on-court trash talk
it's Bibby the college coach and O'Neal the student-athlete father
Good thing they get along great these days -- because Shaq's son, Shaqir, verbally committed to play for Bibby in the former Kings star's new position as head coach at Sacramento State
It probably wasn't good when we were playing against each other," Bibby said with a grin when formally introduced at the school Tuesday
"There was a lot of try to get a rivalry going
Don't be surprised if more NBA players' sons wind up in California's capital with one of the most beloved stars to come through the Sacramento franchise
Bibby's phone hasn't stopped ringing since he was hired last week to take over the program
He doesn't even have time anymore to take his daily naps
The 46-year-old Bibby is ready to lead the Hornets back into contention in the Big Sky Conference right away after they finished 7-25 last season
look at our new head coach," athletic director Mark Orr said
"Today's introduction of Coach Bibby marks a successful turn of events here at Sacramento State over the last couple years
Bibby retired in 2012 and has had various coaching jobs since
He won five state titles and coached 25 players who received college scholarships in six seasons as coach at Shadow Mountain High School in Phoenix
He also has been an assistant for the Puerto Rican National Team
summer league teams for Cleveland and Memphis
he's a Sacramento legend," Sacramento State President Dr
"The city embraced him during his NBA years and he's returning that love by choosing to lead our program
the pride and determination and he's ready to build something that's special right here at Sacramento State
With Coach Bibby at the helm we are raising the bar."
Orr said he received inquiries about the job from NBA-level coaches on down
"and I kept coming back to one of the greatest basketball minds that this city has ever seen
He loves this community and wants to be here."
And Bibby wants to leave a lasting mark and build something special here
He knows the student-athletes will look to him as an example of someone who has been at the top
I don't want to let the city down and I'm going to do my hardest not to," Bibby said
"These kids are trying to get to where I've been
and why not get it from someone that's been there before?"
Bibby won an NCAA championship as a player at Arizona in 1997 and then starred in the NBA for 14 seasons
with his most successful stint coming during seven seasons with the Kings
He helped Sacramento reach Game 7 of the 2002 Western Conference Finals before losing to O'Neal and the Los Angeles Lakers
"He's a legend, and I think the city needs somebody that's going to reflect it culturally," senior guard EJ Neal said
Bibby is ready to teach -- "Everything has to be precise
We do it hard or we do it again." And he plans to schedule top non-conference opponents -- "They'll overlook us."
He has no doubt the Hornets will win immediately
adding that "I have plans of taking this conference by storm."
"Having a coach come in here to teach us and to try and push us and hold us accountable so we can get better and get to that position where he was I think is the biggest thing," senior forward Jalen Pitre said
Bibby was clearly a bit emotional and overcome by this full-circle moment
I'm nervous as you guys can tell," Bibby said
I've been ready for this for a long time."

the focus has now shifted toward the offseason
With the 2024-25 NBA Season now over for the Sacramento Kings (courtesy of the Dallas Mavericks)
the Kings have a handful of players from their 2024-25 roster set to become free agents
we are going to analyze the pros and cons of bringing back each of these players
After spending the last five seasons with the Orlando Magic, Markelle Fultz found himself without a team to start the 2024-25 season. However, that changed when the Kings signed him to a veteran minimum contract in the middle of February
But did Fultz do enough in his half season stint with the team to warrant them pursuing him again this offseason
The Kings had a busy 2025 Trade Deadline cycle, swapping five players (including their franchise icon, De'Aaron Fox) in exchange for Zach LaVine
The moves completely reshaped their roster
they left them with even less defense than they had before
Enter Fultz. After his career took an awkward turn
going from number one pick in a loaded 2017 Class to completely forgetting how to shoot due to a rare injury
Fultz completely revamped his game to turn himself into one of the best guard defenders in the association
Last season, Fultz placed in the 88th percentile in steal rate and played consistent minutes (when healthy) on an Orlando Magic team that finished 2nd in defensive rating in the entire league. The Kings hoped that bringing him in could help boost their bottom-ten unit of fortification (a defense that hasn't been elite in over two decades)
The Kings were 6.6 points stouter per 100 possessions with Fultz on the floor (92nd percentile
they were in the 65th percentile in defensive rating in his minutes
Fultz only played in 21 games for the Kings
and he only averaged 8.8 minutes per contest in those appearances
The reason for this is the same issue that has plagued him throughout his entire career
the Kings' offensive rating fell 5.1 points per 100 when he was on the floor (20th percentile) – turning a top ten attack into one that was just middle-of-the-pack
As we said in our analysis of Jae Crowder
it is impossible to measure the value that Crowder's experience and wisdom helped the Kings' locker room this season
Maybe those intangibles are enough to warrant bringing him back on another veteran minimum deal
Fultz didn't leave enough of an impression in his time here to justify allocating resources toward bringing him back in 2025-26
