so a shuttle is in operation using a single vehicle
Full operation is expected to start by the end of February
Construction on the 1∙75 route-km extension started in May 2019
and it is forecast to attract a further 40 000 daily users to Line 15 when fully operational
and it has been operated by private concessionaire ViaMobilidade since March 2019
The municipality has plans to extend the route at both ends
eastwards from Jardim Colonial to Cidade Tiradentes and west from Vila Prudente to an interchange with metro Line 10 at Ipiranga

The pain commonly occurred after walking or an extended period in orthostasis
His medical history was unremarkable except for a long-term well-controlled hypertension
A Runoff CT angiography (CTA) was requested for evaluation
CTA images showed a dilated left femoral artery and vein
which along with the also dilated popliteal artery and vein
extended into a tangled and tortuous vascular mesh with a nidus
The anomalous vessels were accentuated posteriorly and distributed between the muscle bellies
with no signs of intra-articular or intraosseous extensions
Arteriovenous communications were evidenced
suggesting an arteriovenous malformation (AVM)
The patient underwent a vascular embolization and was in good general condition with improved symptomatic in the follow-up

AVMs are vascular malformations composed of arteries and veins that directly communicate through a central nidus
bypassing the high resistance of capillary beds and leading to a high-flow lesion that shunts blood from arterial to venous circulation
Imaging evaluation is vital to the characterization and subsequent treatment planning
A Runoff CTA allows vascular assessment of the entire lower extremities

The charter agreement and services agreement for the BW Offshore-owned FPSO Cidade de São Mateus with Brazilian oil major Petrobras has ended
BW Offshore said on Monday that the contracts for the FPSO had reached their final terms on Sunday
The FPSO Cidade de São Mateus worked on the Camarupim field from 2009 until 2015
the FPSO was involved in a gas explosion with fatal consequences
the unit was operated for Petrobras by BW Offshore on the Camarupim and Camarupim Norte fields in Espirito Santo approximately 120 km from the coast in southeastern Brazil
Nine of the 74 persons on-board lost their lives in the accident
the process to tow the damaged FPSO after the accident from the offshore field to shore took over a year
The FPSO has been in lay-up in Singapore ever since
with an effective date of 22 December 2016
for an early repair cost settlement of $250 million during January 2017
In March 2018, Petrobras exercised a one-year extension of the contract for the FPSO Cidade de São Mateus with the two companies still working towards finalizing a firm plan for the FPSO while the unit remained in lay-up
The dialogue with Petrobras continued in 2019
BW has not revealed whether any firm plan for the FPSO has been agreed with Petrobras

Experience Portugal’s vibrant culture through its festivals
From lively street parades to historic events
Most villages and towns in Portugal have their own traditional festival (festa) or pilgrimage (romaria)
These traditional festivals celebrate the country’s history
There are also some great contemporary events throughout the year
Visiting the country during one of these top festivals is an excellent way to experience Portugal’s rich culture:
You will find Carnaval parades all over Portugal, with Lisbon and the towns of the Algarve throwing particularly spectacular celebrations
While it may seem to be all Rio-style feathers
Carnaval festivals in Portugal date back centuries to when people held huge feasts to eat up all the meat
it begins on the last Friday before Lent and ends on Shrove Tuesday
those parts of the procession carry huge flower-covered crosses and destroy them at the end during a special ceremony
The International Sand Sculpture Festival (Festival Internacional de Escultura em Areia – FIESA) held in Pera in the Algarve has been running since 2003
Artists use some 40,000 tonnes of sand over an area of 15,000 square meters to create sand sculptures
Some sculptures even soar up to a height of 12 meters
the festival organizers illuminate the magnificent sculptures
Festa das Cruzes
Its roots stem back to the 16th century when a cobbler saw the shape of a cross appear on the ground and interpreted it as a sign of divine presence
attracting pilgrims from all over Portugal
featuring parades of locals in folk costume
Peregrinação de Fátima is Portugal’s most famous Christian pilgrimage
three children saw a miraculous vision of the Virgin Mary in Fatima
This was apparently witnessed by large numbers of visitors to the site
Massive numbers of pilgrims come here throughout the year
The town hosts a candlelight procession on 12 May
tearful crowds wave white handkerchiefs as a congregation carries a statue of the Virgin Mary from the high altar to the Chapel of the Apparitions during the Adeus (farewell) procession
A second pilgrimage also occurs in October
During the Feast of Saint Anthony festival on 12 June, the Alfama district of Lisbon is decked with lights and streamers
The air is filled with the smell of sardines grilling on churrascos outside houses and restaurants
The tradition celebrates the story of how a fish rose out of the sea to listen to the 13th-century saint when the locals wouldn’t
Saint Anthony is also known as the matchmaker saint
Women fill their mouths with water until they hear a man’s name mentioned
while men offer women basil plants and love poems
The Arraial Pride is Portugal’s main pride event and has been held since 1996
You can expect the usual fun and frivolity of music
Although it is usually held at the end of June
the exact date and location of the LGBT event change every year
This is one of the largest music festivals in Portugal and is based on its famous Brazilian counterpart, Rock in Rio. Held in Lisbon’s Bela Vista Park, the four-day, two-weekend music festival attracts leading international musicians and DJs
as well as emerging talent to perform on the World Stage
The 2020 Rock in Rio-Lisboa takes place on 20-21 and 27-28 June
This festival
which pays tribute to Saint John the Baptist
has been held in Porto on 23 June for more than 600 years
It begins with street parties and music begin in the afternoon
and the party continues late into the night
Party-goers release sky lanterns and balloons and enjoy a midnight firework display
people bash each other over the head with plastic hammers
Young men also throw garlic flowers at women who take their fancy
During the first two weeks of July, girls parade around the streets of Tomar with piles of bread on their heads as part of the ancient Festa dos Tabuleiros (Festival of the Trays)
Also known as Festa do Divino Espirito Santo (Feast of the Holy Spirit)
the event is Tomar’s biggest and most spectacular procession
People walk in pairs with the girls wearing tabuleiros; these are headdresses made from bread stacked in rows
festooned with flowers and topped with a crown and dove or celestial sphere
There are other traditional processions alongside the main parade
Festa do Colete Encarnado (or Festival of the Red Waistcoat) is Portugal’s answer to Pamplona’s running of the bulls and takes its name from the traditional red waistcoats worn by local campinos
the three-day festival starts with a parade celebrating the campino (cowboy) in the city square and into the streets
Then the bulls run loose through the streets of Vila Franca de Xira while foolhardy men try to keep out of their way
there have been casualties during the festival in the past
Close to the Spanish border, the hilltop town of Viseu has one of the best-preserved fortifications in Europe. Viseu is also home to the longest festival procession in southern Portugal. The Feira de São Mateus is a series of celebrations in commemoration of Saint Matthew
Saint Martin’s Day is celebrated on 11 November
Saint Martin was a Roman soldier who cut his cloak in half to give it to a beggar to keep warm; after which the sun came out to warm him
warm winter days at the beginning of November are called Saint Martin’s Summer
This is when the chestnuts start ripening and the first wine of the season is ready to drink
The Portuguese celebrate this time – called Magusto – with bonfires and parties
as well as água-pé; a weak wine made from watered-down dregs
The most traditional Saint Martin’s Day festivals in Portugal are in northern Trás-os-Montes

Brazil also needs more gas to generate electricity amid a drought that is cutting its hydro-power potential
The Cidade de Sao Mateus has been producing in the fields since 2009
It had production of about 2,200 barrels of oil and processed 2.25 million cubic meters (79.5 million cubic feet) of natural gas per day before Wednesday’s gas explosion
which killed at least five and left 26 injured
Actual oil production was less than 10 percent of the Cidade de Sao Mateus’ 25,000-barrel-a-day capacity and gas processing was less than a quarter of the platform’s pre-accident capacity of 353 million cubic feet (9.9 million cubic meters) a day

o MST realizou 40 ações como marchas e vigílias em 17 estados brasileiros neste mês de abril - Gabriela Moncau/Brasil de Fato
On Wednesday (17), when Brazil remembered the 28th anniversary of the Eldorado do Carajás massacre
the Landless Workers' Movement (also known as MST) had 28 occupations of unproductive lands carried out across Brazil in the last week
according to a survey by the Pastoral Land Commission
The occupations in ten Brazilian states and the Federal District involve around 20,000 families and are part of the traditional national day of struggle held by the MST in April
the motto is "Occupy to feed Brazil"
The most recent camp was set up by 200 families on Wednesday (17) at Coqueirinho Farm
In a "letter to the Brazilian people" on "the milestone of April 17
the MST explains their main demands and presents criticism of what they consider insufficient in the agrarian reform policies of the Lula government (Workers’ Party)
"We are fighting because 105,000 families are encamped
We demand that the federal government comply with article 184 of the Federal Constitution
expropriate unproductive estates and democratize access to land," says the MST letter
stressing that "settling is more than just distributing or regularizing land," adding that it also includes guaranteeing access to policies that "allow for the full development of people and communities in the countryside.”
The movement is also demanding basic infrastructure and technical assistance in the settlements, a new budget for public policies such as the Food Acquisition Program (PAA
price regulation and resources to "make viable the 42 courses already approved in the National Education Program for Agrarian Reform (Pronera
"For those under a black tarpaulin, patience is the enemy of hunger and abandonment," the MST said in the letter. Last Monday (15), while dozens of large estates were taken over by landless people, the federal government launched the Terra da Gente program (“Our Land”
President Lula and Brazil’s Agrarian Development Minister Paulo Teixeira announced 17 legal ways to obtain and make land available for agrarian reform
Options include allocating federal land for agrarian reform
purchasing properties from banks and public companies and negotiating state debts with the federal government in exchange for land
"Occupation is a necessary condition to show society that 1) there are people who need land
land occupation is also a communication tool," says Gilmar Mauro
"If someone says there isn’t more land to expropriate
we show them 'look at this one that doesn't fulfill its social function
There’s this one with slave labor and this one here with environmental degradation or this vacant public land,'" he points out
"It's a powerful tool of struggle that
wasn't created in an office – it was created by the people," he says
carrying out these actions was and is fundamental
Almost all Brazilian states have joined it
And we're not finished: Red April continues," says Gilmar Mauro
Pernambuco is the state with the highest number of land occupations in this year’s Red April
from Sunday (14) until this Wednesday (17)
there were 13 occupations with 5,301 families
that's not all the mobilizations will be about
Many more occupations may take place this year," said Gilmar Mauro
Looking specifically at MST’s occupations
with the main drop recorded during the pandemic and the increase in violence in the countryside under the Bolsonaro government
it is extremely difficult for a large part of the Brazilian population to earn enough income to live on," the MST leader points out
"It's possible – I'm not trying to predict – that some of these working classes who live in small towns
It smells like it," says Gilmar Mauro
The occupations in Pernambuco include one on land belonging to the Farm Fruit company in Santa Maria da Boa Vista
another in the National Department for Works against Droughts (DNOCS
in Portuguese) in Serra Talhada and an occupation at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation in Petrolina
The latter was already occupied by MST twice last year
we left Embrapa [Brazilian Agricultural Research Company] with a commitment to settle all 1,316 families who were camping there
and now we're coming back to demand it," explained Jaime Amorim
from MST’s national coordination in Pernambuco
New occupations were also carried out in the states of Sergipe
During this year’s Red April, two of the occupations the MST carried out were violently dismantled by police forces without a court order. One of them was located in Vila Boa de Goiás, on the outskirts of the Federal District; the other was in the city of Campinas
The Military Police of Ronaldo Caiado's government (Union Brazil) forcibly removed around 1,000 families who had occupied a bankrupt 8,000-hectare area of the Brazilian Bioenergy Company plant in Goiás
The area is under embargo for environmental crimes
The MST says the occupation took place to put pressure on the expropriation of the plant
which was offered to the State as a way of paying off tax and labor debts of around BRL300 million (over US$ 57,3 million)
"They arrived with 15 police vehicles," describes Marco Baratto
the state leader of the MST in the Federal District
He and four other activists were arrested and later released
The other eviction was carried out by the Municipal Civil Guard of Campinas against around 200 families in an unproductive area owned by the real estate company Zezito Empreendimentos Ltda
The administration of Dário Saadi (Republicans Party)
deployed guards to carry out the eviction using bombs
which creates a "Group for the Control and Containment of Occupations
Clandestine Land Parcels and Environmental Damage"
Among the requirements for the repossession process
is the registration of the landless families occupying the area
acting in the name of a decree whose function is
to "prevent environmental damage"
the guards set fire to part of the land's degraded pasture with their bombs
They had to reposition themselves so they did not inhale the enormous amount of smoke they were producing
the families chanted slogans at the officers
who stood in defense of the property whose owner had not even called the public authorities
"You are the kids of landless parents
none of you will be able to buy a house here
The reality is harsh," shouted one of the occupants.
On Wednesday night (16), another repossession took place in the state of São Paulo with the presentation of a court order and without violence
The 300 or so families left the Globo Suinã farm
after two days of occupation with the Military Police intimidating them
"In an assembly and by common agreement with the families
we decided to back down," Marcio Santos
"We agreed that as soon as our demands aren’t addressed
we will resume the struggle and carry out new occupations," he said

Feb 12 (Reuters) – Five people were killed and four are missing following an explosion a day earlier in a Brazilian offshore oil and natural gas field run by Petroleo Brasileiro SA
which owns the production ship on which the accident occurred
The death toll rose from three on Wednesday
All the workers killed on the platform were BW Offshore employees
While the company didn’t detail their precise nationalities
it said nearly all the workers on board were Brazilian
with these figures confirmed by Petrobras and regulator ANP
Brazil’s ANP told Reuters Thursday that Petrobras was responsible for all events in its oilfields
The regulator said it had opened an investigation into the accident
The explosion occurred after a natural gas leak on the Cidade de Sao Mateus
storage and offloading (FPSO) ship that was contracted to Petrobras
The FPSO was shut down after the explosion
halting about 2,200 barrels a day of oil output and 2.25 million cubic meters of natural gas production
That’s less than 3 percent of Petrobras gas output and less than 1 percent of oil production
The FPSO is anchored in the Camarupim oil field in the Espirito Santo Basin about 75 kilometers northeast of Vitoria
Camarupim is 100 percent owned by Petrobras
It also handles production from neighboring Camarupim Norte
Camarupim North is 65 percent owned by Petrobras and 35 percent owned by Ouro Preto Energia

The Oil Workers Union of the state of Espírito Santo, where Wednesday’s explosion took place, said rescue teams are searching for four who remain missing. It said 10 workers were injured in the blast.
The union said on its Facebook page that the two bodies were found inside the engine room of the vessel, one of many floating oil production, storage and offloading units that state-run oil company Petrobras employs in developing Brazil’s massive offshore oil fields.
The ship was leased by Petrobras from Norway-based BW Offshore, which confirmed the new death toll and the number of missing workers.
“It was a tragic day and we will not rest until we find the four workers who are missing,” BW Offshore’s CEO, Carl Arnet, said in a statement.
BW Offshore said that 74 workers were on board at the time of the blast and that 65 were safely evacuated from the ship, which was about 25 miles (40km) off the coast.
Read moreAccording to the Unified Oil Workers Federation
the blast was caused by a gas leak in the vessel’s engine room
The Brazilian government’s National Oil Agency said in a statement that no oil leaked as a result of the accident and said it had begun an investigation
It noted the ship passed a navy inspection earlier this year
The accident comes amid a crisis for Petrobras
as federal investigators continue to probe a massive kickback scheme allegedly operated by former executives of the oil company
which saw them receiving hundreds of millions in bribes from construction and engineering firms in exchange for giving those companies inflated contracts
23 Jan 2017A BONKERS builder has shocked his neighbours by constructing an upside down house - with the roof at the bottom and the garden at the top
Windows and doors in the Sao Mateus property in south east Brazil, are all topsy-turvy with the front door at the top and potted plants either side
is far-fetched the inside is perfectly normal
with all the traditional rooms you would expect to find in a home
On the ground floor is the kitchen diner and a toilet while upstairs has two ensuite bedrooms
Builder Valdevino Miguel da Silva, 65, who has been in the construction business all his adult life said: “I’ve worked for such a long time in the industry that when I retired I wanted to do something different and exciting
“I decided to set myself a challenge by keeping active and instead of going down the traditional route of building a normal house I did it upside down.”
The real entrance is at the back of the house.
Initially, his idea didn’t go down well with his wife, Maria Elizabeth da Silva, 64, who told her husband of forty years, that she didn’t agree that it would work.
She said: “I told him not to do it because it sounded like such a crazy idea and I thought it wouldn’t look right. But it was no point arguing with him. Once he sets his sights on doing something he just goes ahead.”
Seeing as she wasn’t going to change her husband’s mind, Maria decided to throw her weight behind the project.
the couple toiled several days a week with Maria acting as Valdevino’s assistant to build the 400 square metre house
“We worked well together and hardly argued because he is a perfectionist and his drawings were spot on,” Maria said
