Jude High School owes more than $230,000 in unpaid contributions to an employee pension plan
according to plan trustees who are suing the school to force payment
The lawsuit filed in Erie County State Supreme Court accuses the high school of failing to pay required contributions to the defined benefit plan for the past 19 months
said the school was only recently made aware of the lawsuit
“We will not comment on pending legal matters at this time other than to state that we will defend Bishop Timon-St
employees and administration and we will safeguard its mission and interests
financial or other,” he said in an email statement to The Buffalo News
Timon has been “largely unresponsive” despite numerous requests from trustees and officials with the Buffalo Diocese for the high school to resolve its defaults and outstanding obligations owed under the plan
Bishop Timon-St.Jude High is among five area Catholic schools still in existence that were run directly by the diocese until the early 1990s
The high school was supposed to be contributing $11,634 per month under the current terms of the plan
but it hasn’t made a payment since the summer of 2023
The plan requires all affiliates to make monthly contributions
which are based upon actuarial assessments
“Timon’s breaches of its obligations under the Plan threaten the financial health of the Plan and the benefits of Timon’s former and current employees who are Plan beneficiaries,” the lawsuit said
New York Retirement Plan hired the Hodgson Russ law firm to try and recoup the arrears
warned Ryan and high school principal James Newton in a letter in August that the pension trustees would begin legal action to collect payment
The turnaround at the all-male high school has come after new board leadership
capital investments in the building and a staff member dedicated to engaging with eighth-graders
Ryan explained that the high school was in the process of changing lawyers and would be in touch as soon as new legal counsel was in place
But the school didn’t provide a “substantive response” to Zawodzinski’s demand letter
The pension plan was formed in 1960 to provide retirement benefits for employees of the Buffalo Diocese and its affiliates
and employees stopped accruing benefits for additional years of service
The diocese shifted instead to a 403(b) defined contribution plan
The diocese offered lump-sum buyouts in 2017
which still covers more than 2,500 active employees
The plan had assets of $139 million at the end of 2023
with accumulated benefit obligations of $157 million
according to the diocese’s 2024 audited financial statements
Diocese officials said in court papers that there was a procedure in place to fully fund the legacy pension plan by about 2030
Timon had a deficit in the plan of $887,259 in 2023
with assets of $1.6 million and accrued liabilities of $2.5 million
Court papers did not indicate how many Timon employees and retirees were part of the plan
The high school on McKinley Parkway in South Buffalo enrolled 278 students in 2023-24
according to New York State Department of Education data
Timon was founded in 1946 and named after the first bishop of Buffalo
It is among five area Catholic schools still in existence that were run directly by the diocese until the early 1990s
when they became independent entities governed by boards of trustees
Timon remained as an affiliate in the diocese’s retirement plan
Timon and the other four former active diocesan high schools – St
Notre Dame in Batavia and Archbishop Walsh in Olean − never took ownership of their properties after going independent and were leasing them from the diocese for a nominal fee
Other Catholic high schools that have been independent from their beginnings
own their buildings and are not part of the diocese’s pension plan
Because the diocese is now in Chapter 11 bankruptcy
it must monetize its assets to repay creditors
It already has sold the former campus of Walsh High School
It is unclear what will happen with the other high schools
One possibility is that the schools stay where they are and take out loans against the appraised value of the properties
with the loan proceeds used to pay into a $150 million settlement of child sex abuse claims against the diocese
Members of Timon’s board of trustees said in 2023 they were looking to raise an endowment of as much as $5 million
The diocese pension fund is not at risk as a result of the Chapter 11 bankruptcy
The 2024 independent audit noted that if a participating employer stops contributing to the plan
the unfunded obligations may transfer to the other employers in the plan’s group

“It’s fun to play this person who I’m nothing like,” says Beyond the Gates star Timon Kyle Durrett of his alter ego
the charming cheater who has already caused drama aplenty in Fairmont Crest
For Durrett, who had racked up a slew of primetime credits over the course of his 25-year career, including playing disgraced basketball star Davis West on OWN’s Queen Sugar
the opportunity to join the new daytime soap was a welcome call
“A lot of people say I get typecast as the bad guy,” Durrett notes
“I don’t know if this guy’s a bad guy
I want to play this guy.’ It was exciting
Anyone on set will tell you I’m the big jokester
I tell crazy stories and dad jokes and stuff
While Bill hasn’t won any husband of the year awards for leaving Dani Dupree (Karla Mosley) to marry their daughter’s pal, Hayley Lawson (Marquita Goings)
Durrett appreciates the inner workings of his new character
“Bill is a bit of a shark of a man,” he observes
“You know how a shark will circle its prey and put the fin out of the water and let you know I could take you down
He has no problem with asserting himself and I can’t do it in real life
but to be able to play it in the world of Beyond the Gates is so much fun
He has soft spots for his daughters and his wife
He can be a bit abrasive and aggressive if he needs to be
“She’s a consummate professional,” he lauds
“She’s like a supercomputer the way she retains information
and she can come on the fly and has all these levels and all these different flavors that she adds to her performance
but there’s a connection that Timon and Karla have created for Dani and Bill
It’s like two tennis players who have never played against one another
but they’re both professionals and they’re very good
she knows how to do it with a level of balance and charisma and energy and spite and spunk
It’s like she’s the master chef in the scene,s and it’s refreshing to work with someone who just knows how to play.”
As for Bill’s current wife, Hayley, Durrett worked with her portrayer in the 2019 film, Everyday but Christmas
but didn’t know she was in the casting pool for BTG
I don’t know if there’s more than one,’ ” he explains
and it’s like we were in a time capsule
Prior to joining BTG, Durrett’s only other daytime experience was playing an orderly on The Young and the Restless in 2004
which turned out to be a memorable gig for unforeseen reasons
“I had read for Young and the Restless before
[the casting director will] be right in,’ ” he recalls
I’m calling your agent right now.’ And I stood up and she said
How tall are you?’ I am 6’5” but I tried to play it and said
‘This isn’t going to work,’ because the actress — I don’t know who it was —was only 4 feet
Fortunately, that wasn’t the end of his Genoa City journey. “They called me back because they needed a bigger guy to play an orderly, because I had to actually pick up one of the actors on the show, and it was a lot of fun. But that was the same year that Ronald Reagan passed away
this is my first time I’m on daytime
it’s a bigger audience … and unfortunately
I have not seen the rest of that episode at all.”
But it’s a full circle moment to be back on the network where he started his soap journey
“There’s an amalgam of feelings,” Durrett reflects
We are the seed that’s going to make the tree of Beyond the Gates grow
and that’s probably the most special part of it
because it doesn’t go any further back than us
Durrett promises that Bill’s motivations will become clearer
“I do enjoy the angst that Bill causes the fans,” Durrett muses
‘Does it bother you?’ I’m like
I want them to feel like they don’t know how to feel about Bill.’ He’s an opportunist
but he’s not necessarily a bad person
Bill has a bad temperament because of some things that have happened
but things have happened with Bill and the Duprees
and he’s having a hard time reconciling and letting it go
It’s not that he’s just this innate jerk.”

Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner as Timon and Pumbaa are the ultimate scene stealers in "Mufasa: The Lion King" and reveal how much they improvised.LOS ANGELES -- The "Lion King" scene stealers are back at it again
Timon and Pumbaa captured everyone's hearts in the 1994 original movie and again in the 2019 live-action remake
Now Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen who play Timon and Pumbaa are back on screen to make us laugh once more
Eichner and Rogen definitely know how to capture an audience and tell a joke
but how many of the jokes in "Mufasa: The Lion King" were actually apart of the script
Billy Eichner tells our George Pennacchio "I think for this one especially
Barry Jenkins really encouraged us to riff like crazy and improvise
I think 90 percent of what we say was improvised."
who usually stars in more raunchy comedies is ecstatic that he's in a movie that everyone in the family can see
His family and friends have a different complaint though
"I don't have children but I have a lot of friends now that have kids
the 2019 Lion King is the first Lion King they saw
They obviously didn't see the first one in the movie theater at least and so my friends complain about how much they heard me sing the lion sleeps tonight like on the soundtrack."
You can see Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner as Timon and Pumbaa in "Mufasa: The Lion King" in theaters on December 20th
The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of this ABC News Station
Unlocking Timon and Pumbaa in Disney Dreamlight Valley is a bit confusing if you're new to the valley
but if you've been playing for a while it will take significantly less work
Before you start the task of welcoming Timon and Pumbaa to your valley
you'll need to have the Lion King realm unlocked and both Simba and Nala already prowling about
Unlocking the Lion King realm from the Dream Castle will set you back 10,000 Dreamlight
But it's well worth it since you can invite four characters from this one doorway now that we've got Timon and Pumbaa
you need to have level 10 friendship with Simba and complete all of his quests
you should be able to activate a quest called "Finding Old Friends" which is the beginning of the mission to find Timon and Pumbaa
There are three quests you need to complete for Timon and Pumbaa
we've broken down what you need to do to make the process easier.
There are three quests you'll need to complete before you can unlock Timon and Pumbaa to invite them back to your valley
most of these missions can be completed while you're in the Lion King realm so you won't need to constantly leave and come back.
To start the quest of inviting Timon and Pumbaa to your valley
head to the Lion King realm in the Dream Castle
They'll let you know you're too stressed out and need some lessons in Hakuna Matata before they can go to your valley.
You can find all the materials in the Lion King realm
which takes away the stress from having to head back to the valley (Hakuna Matata indeed)
You'll need to find the following materials to complete this part of the quest:
use the crafting station to create a lion mane using the 4 Red Jungle Leaves you collected earlier
Equip this and speak to Timon and Pumbaa again
They will tell you to fish out a crown from the river underneath the log bridge
You can do this at the crafting bench using sand and coal
you'll need to place the crown on the breakable rock near Rafiki's staff at the top of the jungle and smash it with your pickaxe.
you'll need to throw the empty vial into the water (after screaming your worries into it) and head back to camp
Using your shovel on the 'beds' will allow you to sleep
which you need to do to complete this quest and initiate the next
After you've woken up from the previous quest
Once again you'll be able to find all the items needed for this craft within the Lion King
craft a hammock at the crafting station and go back to Pumbaa
He suggests you try the hammock in three different spots around the jungle to make sure you've found the optimal napping spot
These are marked out by beds of bright green leaves on the ground
but if you're stuck on where to find them head to these locations:
(Image credit: Gameloft)(Image credit: Gameloft)(Image credit: Gameloft)Next to the riverNext to the camp Next to the oasisWhen you've tried all of these spots
head back to Pumbaa and chill in your favourite napping spot
he'll ask you to water three dried up mud spots with your Royal Watering Can in front of the camp so you can both play
and Pumbaa will then ask you to catch three floating fireflies from the same spots listed above
You'll need to use them to cook Roasted Jungle Fireflies
go to sleep to end this part of the quest and move on to the final part
The third and final quest starts with you talking to Timon
He's very panicked after waking up and finding Pumbaa missing
and you'll find Pumbaa's behind sticking out from inside a log
who will ask you to gather a selection of grubs to make an oil mix to help Pumbaa get out of the log.
There are three breakable rocks by the river
which you'll need to smash with your Royal Pickaxe to get all the grubs you need
Speak to Timon after you've collected them all to get the recipe for two different bug oils
Cook these using the green stove by the river
Combine the two oils to create Super Slippery Bug Oil and give this to Timon
It will be mixed with your Royal Watering Can
which you'll then need to use on Pumbaa in the log
this wont work and you'll need to find another way to get him out.
Return to the valley to speak to Goofy for advice and he'll give you his plunger to help
The plunger alone isn't going to be enough
and Goofy will tell you to gather some materials to make it slightly stronger
You'll then need to gather the following materials:
craft a reinforced plunger at a crafting station and go back to Pumbaa
You'll be able to use this to pull him out of the log
You'll then be invited back to the camp to take a nap with Timon and Pumbaa before you can finally invite them to your valley

There’s definitely some underlying concern on Hayley’s part
When there are ‘moments,’ she’s not going to miss it
It’s not like Dani was a high school buddy that Bill hasn’t seen in a while
This is his ex-wife and the mother of his two daughters who he loves very much
As Marilyn Monroe said in How to Marry a Millionaire
it’s just as easy to fall in love with a rich man as a poor man
But staying hitched to a rich man… well
as Beyond the Gates’ newlywed Hayley is discovering
Are there hearts in her eyes when she looks at husband Bill… or dollar signs
“there’s love there,” Timon Kyle Durrett tells Soaps.com
when you have power and money and prestige added to that
It adds a level of difference in that ‘This is new
but with it comes access and expectations from other people.’”
More: Beyond the Gates stars tease a rocky road ahead
Hayley is certainly learning that the hard way
She’s about as welcome in Fairmont Crest as an off-the-rack dress would be on the Paris runway
that power and money and prestige can be the thing that turns [your world] upside-down.”
More: Beyond the Gates’ couples — who’s getting together… and falling apart
the actor is confident about Hayley’s feelings for Bill and vice versa
“But that power dynamic can be alluring in a way that kind of clouds one’s understanding of the circumstances at hand.”

we’ve never done it where the celebrity guests were animated characters,” the comedian tells TheWrap
Billy Eichner, who reprises his role as Timon in “Mufasa: The Lion King,” revealed what he believes Timon and Pumbaa’s “Billy on the Street” question would be
“That would be great — we’ve never done it where the celebrity guests were animated characters
so I might need some CGI experts to help me with that,” Eichner
who executive produced and hosted his viral person-on-the-street Q&A series “Billy on the Street,” told TheWrap
“It might be above the ‘Billy on the Street’ budget
“I think Timon and Pumbaa would want to know
‘Why don’t we have our own movie?’ Which would be a perfect ‘Billy on the Street’ type of question.’”
Starring alongside Eichner is his partner-in-comedy
the pair listen to Rafiki’s retelling of Mufasa’s origin story while weaving in some comedic relief throughout the Disney film
Eichner said “Mufasa” director Barry Jenkins encouraged them to load up their arsenal of jokes
and it was just super fun … we improvised a lot this time,” Eichner said
and I think we were surprised: A.) how much they used in the movie; and B.) how much people seem to respond well to it
So I think Barry had us really lean into that this time
You can kind of feel it when you’re watching the movie
I think it sounds like we’re in the room together
“In the original ‘Lion King,’ Timon and Pumbaa kind of join midway through and in this one
we’re helping narrate the story essentially
“It’s an honor to be part of these
huge group of people that make these types of movies happen.”
“Mufasa: The Lion King” is now playing in theaters
Norwegian skier Timon Haugan added to his first-run advantage to win a World Cup slalom by a large margin in Alta Badia on Monday
Haugan finished 1.13 seconds ahead of Loic Meillard of Switzerland and 1.26 ahead of Norwegian teammate Atle Lie McGrath
It was Haugan's second World Cup victory after taking the slalom at finals last season in Saalbach
the site of this season's world championships in February
Haugan led McGrath by 0.31 after the first leg then charged the entire way down his second run
He made a mistake and was pushed wide midway down and also made a slight bobble on the bottom of the Gran Risa course
But he recovered both times and celebrated by skiing in a circle in the finish area
keep it clean and really attack," McGrath said
just focus on the skiing and not think about the result."
Haugan was coming off a fifth-place finish in Sunday's giant slalom on the Gran Risa course
which was his best result this season - until Monday
"It's always nice to ski the GS the day before and get a feeling for the snow," Haugan said
to get a good result yesterday and then I can just relax and focus on the skiing."
Meillard was only eighth in the morning but surged up the leader board for his third podium in four slaloms this season
recorded his third consecutive slalom podium after placing third in Gurgl
Norway had a 1-2 in Val d'Isere eight days ago with Henrik Kristoffersen finishing ahead of McGrath
but held on to his lead in the slalom standings
Olympic champion Clement Noel stood third after the first run but struggled toward the end of his second run and placed sixth
Noel won the opening two slaloms of the season but then missed the Val d'Isere race after injuring his ankle in a giant slalom
The course in the Italian Dolomites was dark in sections

The men's circuit resumes with downhill and super-G races in Bormio on Saturday and Sunday
Soap Opera Digest: Congratulations on the show
Marquita Goings: I think it’s great that the viewers are really taking to the work and they are very invested in the show
to the point where I’m reading comments like
Timon Kyle Durrett: It’s a comfort for me knowing that there are people who are old enough to be my parents who have embraced this new show
It’s bringing them back to when they were younger
It feels like we’re adding to the glue or the cohesion of a community of people who can look at this show and relate to it
Digest: It looks like you’re both having a lot of fun
Just getting to step outside of myself — and you know
that’s the thing with any show or any project: You want to feel free
Timon is cracking jokes and has us laughing
and being able to jump back and forth — having those fun moments
We play on camera and off camera; it’s just a cool dynamic
we get to learn the different things that we can do that add to the realism and to the chemistry of Bill and Hayley
It’s fun to work with people who really want to play
I mean to convey a believable message to the people who are watching us
Marquita: I have a high regard and respect for so many actresses and just taking a little bit from everyone
That’s why I said I took a little bit from everybody because it wasn’t just one and it wasn’t just acting
it’s like all the mannerisms and how they walked and how they moved
Digest: What’s a random personal fact that would surprise viewers
Durrett: I think people would be surprised to know that until recent years
you guys were part of the biggest story on the show that everybody had to immediately embrace and invest in
To me it feels good because I’m an adrenaline junkie
if your characters were on a desert island
which character do you think would eat the other one first to survive
Durrett: I say that because I think there’s a vulnerability to Hayley
can you just go over there and get that thing?” And she comes behind him and clubs him over the head
I feel like Hayley does know she has Bill wrapped around her finger there
Digest: What would you like the viewers to know about what’s ahead
Goings: I just want the viewers to know that it gets better and better. So many twists and turns. It’s like, we did start off with a bang. The stories just get even more complex. Then it’s like, man, right when you thought you knew something, something else just pops up. I’m very excited to see what comes next

Bill’s vulnerability has to do with his legal battle against his daughter Naomi

“My family have asked if I think I’ve been typecast to a degree,” Durrett explains

but his character on OWN’s late great drama
Davis West played hard on and off the court as a professional basketball athlete
“People ask questions— if Timon Kyle Durrett is actually like Bill Hamilton and Davis West,” the actor continued
it’s different because daytime brings a different audience
