big Rutgers offensive tackleToledo defensive back Maxen Hook and linebacker Lance Dixon were signed
Two hours before Eagles rookies were scheduled to take the field at the NovaCare Complex for the first day of rookie camp
the team announced its nine-player crop of undrafted free agents
The Toledo-to-Philadelphia pipeline continued, with the Eagles signing a pair of players coached at Toledo by Nick Sirianni’s longtime friend
One of the two Toledo players signed, defensive back Maxen Hook, was once a roommate of Quinyon Mitchell
who starred as a rookie last year with the Eagles after being selected by the team in the first round
Hook was a middle-to-late round safety prospect who did not get drafted last weekend
» READ MORE: Quinyon Mitchell on Darius Slay’s podcast discusses rookie season, Slay’s Philly departure, and more
The other Toledo Rocket signed after going undrafted is linebacker Lance Dixon, who was once a five-star prospect who began his college career in 2019 at Penn State
He ended up at West Virginia before finishing up at Toledo
One of the most intriguing players on the nine-player list in Rutgers tackle Hollin Pierce
who at 6-foot-8 with 36-inch arms has size you cannot teach
Jeff Stoutland has an interesting project in Pierce
who was projected in the middle to late rounds and did not get picked
What he has in size and length he does not have in speed
A lack of speed and shaky technique will be the reasons it doesn’t work out if Pierce doesn’t find his way onto the Eagles’ roster or another
The Eagles also brought in two running backs: Florida’s Montrell Johnson
who ran a 4.41 40-yard time at the combine
and ShunDerrick Powell of Central Arkansas
who racked up three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons
the Eagles signed two other defensive backs: Oregon’s Brandon Johnson and BJ Mayes from Texas A&M
They also signed two receivers: Darius Cooper from Tarleton State and Wake Forest’s Taylor Morin
who has the record for most receiving yards in school history
The Eagles invited several players to this weekend’s camp on a tryout basis
Former Temple defensive end Michael Dogbe is on the roster and is the most experienced player in camp
Dogbe was a seventh-round pick by Arizona in 2019 and was last with the Vikings and Texans in 2023
The Eagles also brought in another rugby player from Australia
They invited Carsen Patu to camp to try out at linebacker/edge rusher
He comes by way of the same Conquest Athletic Performance facility that brought offensive lineman Laekin Vakalahi
who is back in rookie camp after joining the team last season
Delran’s R.J. Moten, a linebacker who finished his college career at Florida after starting at Michigan, is also in camp. Another New Jersey native, Atlantic City’s Nahsir Morgan
a wide receiver who played at Delaware Valley
Another interesting name is long-snapper Niko Lalos
a defensive end out of Dartmouth who has been in and out of the NFL since 2020 and is trying a new position
South Carolina punter Kai Kroger is also on the roster

Police in Columbus shot Darnell Jones during a confrontation on March 25
a day after his daughter's body was found in an abandoned home in Toledo
Police said investigators found the girl’s body on the second floor of an abandoned, burned house Miami Street in Toledo
An autopsy determined she died of multiple “incised wounds of the neck” and ruled her death a homicide
according the the Lucas County Coroner’s Office
A spokesperson for Toledo Public Schools said she was going to be given a kindness award later this week
The teen was also recently recognized at the school’s Honor Roll Assembly
Emotions ran high as dozens of people gathered at the intersection near the abandoned home
demanding answers as investigators recovered evidence from the building
was at the scene and expressed her frustration with the situation -- before the coroner confirmed the body was Kei’Mani’s
They’re still not telling me nothing,” Kasten said
It’s nothing to let me know when the coroner bringing her out so I can see if that’s indeed my baby
Kasten went on to say there’s no reason her daughter would ever be in the area of the abandoned home
She said Kei’Mani would only ever go to school
She recounted the last time she talked to her daughter
Apparently my mother gave him permission and honestly it was just loving on my kid
The new developments came just hours after we learned the teen’s father
Toledo Police announced Monday night that Jones is now charged with murder in the teen’s death
Court dockets show there is an open warrant for his arrest
The affidavit alleges Jones was the last person with Kei’Mani before she went missing and has allegedly given inconsistent statements about his activity with the victim and her whereabouts
It said phone and surveillance video were also factors in filing the charges
The girl’s father told 13 Action News last week he saw Kei’Mani late at night on March 16
after she called to say she was afraid to be home alone
“I came over here because she said that it seemed like somebody was trying to break into the house
Me and my cousin sat over here for an hour and we left around 12:30-ish,” Jones said
The teen’s grandmother spoke with 13 Action News last week after Kei’Mani was first reported missing
Dorothy Latigue said she lives alone with Kei’Mani
Dorothy said she noticed the house was in disarray
She added that the stove was on and she could smell gas
and that the Kei’Mani’s keys and glasses were at the house -- but Kei’Mani can’t see without them
Her glasses in her underclothes were by the couch in the front
Her pajamas were on the dining room floor,” Dorothy Latigue said
13 Action News asked Toledo Police detectives if they think there are others involved in the Kei’Mani’s disappearance
“Until we’re done doing the whole investigation I can’t tell you how many people are involved,” Lt
Family members organized a search party Friday night and handed out flyers to residents multiple times
