This work reports the data obtained by the multidisciplinary cruise CORE-VTRCC surveying on the region around the Vitória-Trindade Ridge (VTR) aboard the vessel NHo Cruzeiro do Sul (October 18th to November 6th
The main objectives of the VTRCC Cruise were (1) to assess the role of the VTR as an oceanographic barrier for bottom currents along the Brazilian margin; and (2) to characterize the morphology of the volcanic seamounts and its relationships with the carbonate sediments that cover it
high-resolution multichannel seismic survey
and seafloor sampling along the VTR and along the Columbia Deepwater Channel
The raw dataset was processed for quality control and organized for public access
additional geophysical processing occurred to improve data quality
Seafloor samples are characterized based on the concentration of its biofacies
the sediment grain-sizes and the morphology of rhodoliths sampled
The dataset reveals comprehensively the geological and oceanographic heterogeneity of the region around the VTR
Data acquired during the CORE-VTRCC Cruise
(a) Multibeam bathymetry survey occurred throughout the vessel track with the exception of shallow depths (<100 m)
Seafloor samples were acquired atop the Columbia Seamount (V01 and V02)
atop the Davis Bank (V05 and V06) and atop the Jaseur Seamount
(b) Sub-bottom and sound velocity profiles were also acquired throughout the cruise track but not at <100 m depths
(c) Multichannel Sparker Seismic data was acquired along the Columbia Channel (L01-L03)
along the VTR (L07-L15) and at the Rio de Janeiro continental slope (L17)
(d) Marine magnetometry was acquired throughout the survey track when sea conditions were safe
High resolution sub-bottom profiler data were acquired employing an SBP-120 from Kongsberg installed in the hull of the ship
Survey geometry came from a SeaPath 330 positioning system with two GNSS antennas without differential positioning
Acquisition occurred in the Kongsberg SIS software with the ellipsoid WGS-84 and a UTM projection with zone 25S
The equipment was operated with one main channel
which results in a maximum vertical resolution ~0.3 ms
The data was logged in Topas raw format and converted to SEG-Y format
The power of the SBP pulse and trigger interval varied along the survey depending on ocean conditions and seafloor depth
Survey velocities ranged between 4–7 knots
Sound velocities were then incorporated during the multibeam bathymetry acquisition directly into the SIS software
Multibeam bathymetry preprocessing was performed on the software CARIS HIPS from Teledyne during the expedition
A Patch Test calibration of the echosounder was done atop the Columbia Seamount on October 26th
heading and the time delay were calibrated
The corrected values from the Patch Test were then inserted into the processing procedure
spike removal and surface equalization processing were performed with the software EIVA NaviModel Producer after the expedition
The SeaSPY magnetometer from Marine Magnetics was used to acquire the magnetic field data
The sensor (torpedo) was towed 250 m behind the vessel and 300 m from the vessel’s GPS
The SeaSPY magnetometer is a Proton Precession (Overhauser) sensor of absolute accuracy
and the resolution of the system is 0.1 nT and 0.001 nT
The data was acquired in a 10 Hz frequency
from the continental slope to the furthest point from the continent
The frequency resulted in measurements for every meter traveled
with the sensor about 30 to 35 m below the sea level
The survey also occurred in parallel to the seismic survey
the data had low-quality/high-noise measurements removed and was filtered using a non-linear filter of 10 fiducials to eliminate spikes from the data
The quality approved field was reduced using the International Geomagnetic Reference Field (IGRF) to correct long-wavelength effects non-related to crustal features
The resulting Total Magnetic Field was finally filtered using a first-order polynomial filter to highlight medium- to short-wavelength anomalies related to the VTR
producing the Residual Magnetic Field surveyed by the cruise
Microscopic photographs were taken with a Zeiss Stemi DV4 stereomicroscope
at zoom scale of 8x and a total diameter of 26 mm
Grains were then classified in carbonate debris
and its abundance was quantified based on 300 random point counts per sample
method (Subbottom Profiler – SBP) and line number
Bin sizes were then determined to optimize the fold number in the stacked section
noise modeling) may be performed to further improve data results
technical limitations of using a short streamer result in a difficulty of properly imaging surfaces/areas with a high gradient
particularly along the continental slope and seamounts
where the seismic traces are often distorted and do not represent the regional stratigraphy
The initial and final masses were measured and when those values had a >10% difference

I’m crouching uncomfortably among sharp volcanic rocks
yet I’m buzzing with the thrill of discovery
Behind me, a vast sea stretches to the horizon, the waves crashing against the shore with a rhythmic roar; in front of me, a large, vivid crustacean is scuttling across a dark, lumpy outcrop with a gentle tip-tap of its claws, offering a welcome burst of colour in this rugged, almost alien landscape. It’s a yellow land crab
This is my first encounter with this species
yet it feels like I’m greeting an old friend
Ever since I first clapped eyes on an image of a yellow land crab
I’ve been eager to find it and tell its story
Seeing it in the flesh is a dream come true
It’s March 2024 and I have just arrived on the remote island of Trindade
a doctoral student from São Paulo State University
We are lucky to even be here: Trindade is off-limits to the general public
and the only way we could get to the island was by hitching a lift with the Brazilian Navy
which supports research through the ProTrindade project
Our ocean odyssey from Rio de Janeiro had been marked with endless views of blue
engaging conversations and games of dominoes
The yellow land crab Johngarthia lagostoma is named after John Garth
It’s a relatively hefty species – on Trindade
and the powerful claws can grow as large as 10.5cm
While the species occurs on three other islands – Fernando de Noronha and Rocas Atoll, both part of Brazil, and Ascension Island – Trindade is its last stronghold. It is not listed as Endangered on the IUCN’s Red List
yet is considered so by Brazilian researchers
who are currently trying to determine the exact size of the population
On Fernando de Noronha and Ascension Island
the Johns have faced significant threats from humans
there is still lots to learn about the life of the Johns: the first research expedition to Trindade only took place in spring 2019
the study team has undertaken five more expeditions
The Johns are terrestrial creatures and live scattered across the island
They are largely nocturnal and solitary by nature
coming together only in the mating season and going their separate ways immediately after copulation
Yet they undertake a migration en-masse during the breeding season
a spectacle Márcio and I had timed our visit to witness
but migrate down to the beaches for reproduction
The mating season and all associated reproductive processes occur from November to May
across all four of the species’ oceanic island homes
female crabs store the sperm in a seminal receptacle and retreat to their burrows where they wait for their eggs to mature
The eggs are then fertilised internally and transferred to the abdomen
the females emerge and make their way to the sea
each releasing about 80,000 eggs during full-moon tides
developing into larvae known as zoeas that resemble tiny shrimps
they move into the next stage of development
at which point they resemble tiny adult crabs
coming ashore during the next full-moon high tide
they must now navigate rocks and sand to seek shelter from predators
sometimes travelling almost a kilometre inland
They typically hide away under rocks until they’ve completed their final moult to become fully fledged juvenile crabs
Once their shells reach about 1cm in width
they emerge from their hideouts and begin their journey into the mountains
I need to get to my accommodation in the research station and unpack
yet I am transfixed by the John in front of me
Their large eyes seem to be studying me intently
and their huge claws lend them an almost robotic appearance
gently moving above their heads as if giving me a welcoming wave
It is with great reluctance that I eventually drag myself off to my digs
then join Márcio and Master’s student Esli Mosna for an evening of survey work on Andradas Beach
and the large swathes of vegetation near the beach are rapidly transforming into crab gardens
Hundreds of Johns are beginning to emerge from their burrows higher up the slope
spreading out and gathering around my feet with a noisy clacking of claws
yet there are so many of them that the ground is swirling
I am more preoccupied with not treading on the crabs than I am about taking good photos of them
I now understood what Márcio meant when he said that these animals truly dominate Trindade
I capture some images of the Johns and of the researchers setting up transects
so we can observe the crabs’ night-time activity
One aim of the research is to understand the genetic connectivity among the individuals distributed across the four islands
coordinator of the Research Group in Crustacean Biology at São Paulo State University
explains that what first struck him about the Johns was their curiosity
something that only a preserved environment like Trindade can offer,” he recalls
these crabs have been sharing their life story with us
trusting us as guardians of their future.”
Trindade is not only a stronghold for the Johns, but is also the largest nesting ground in Brazil for green turtles. Mouth agape, I watch as, among dozens of crabs, a huge green turtle lumbers across the sand and digs a hole in which to lay its eggs
While the two species tend to keep themselves to themselves for most of the year
Yellow land crabs are predominantly herbivores
Many Johns are still loitering among the turtle burrows
the detritus from the previous night’s feast scattered across the beach
Most predation on hatchlings occurs at night
when the youngsters are making their way towards the sea
I didn’t really like the Johns because they ate turtle hatchlings,” admits biologist Joice Soares from the Marine Turtle Project
“But everything is in balance here; now they are our fieldwork friends.”
my final task is to photograph the crabs at altitude
but Johns only come down to the shore to mate and spawn
our planned overnight campout on the mountain is cancelled for logistical and safety reasons
so we plan instead to head for Prince Hill
whose 150m plateau hosts the largest concentration of juveniles
Permission to hike to Prince Hill is granted by the Brazilian Navy at 6am
Since the crabs are usually back in their burrows by sunrise
I know good photos will be almost impossible
but the sun is soon high in the sky and scorching hot
a famous rainstorm that refreshes Trindade in a hard-and-fast downpour
Rain is usually a challenge for photographers
Terrestrial crabs can use ambient humidity for this process
or when they locate sources of fresh water
they will take advantage of the increased water availability to refresh their gills
As the pirajá approaches and lashes the island
the Johns begin to appear across the landscape
allowing me to capture the photographs I had hoped for
the crabs disappear back into their burrows
The team from São Paulo State University will continue their research in the coming years
uncovering new aspects of the Johns’ biology and devising conservation plans
“Protecting the John crabs on Trindade is not just about saving a species,” says Marcelo
“It’s about learning how to restore and sustain the delicate balance of nature in a rapidly changing world.”

You’ve heard the phrase “trust your gut” when it comes to making decisions. But your gut doesn’t just give you intuition for reaching conclusions. It also physically interacts and communicates with the rest of your body in ways that affect your overall well-being.
Arvind Trindade, MD“The gut microbiome is tremendously important for both immunity and metabolism,” says Arvind Trindade, MD, a gastroenterologist with Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) and a member of RWJBarnabas Health Medical Group
“A diversified and well structured gut microbiome can help you stay healthy
while any disruption can lead to disease.”
Dr. Trindade and his colleague Petros Benias, MD
also a gastroenterologist with RWJUH and a member of RWJBarnabas Health Medical Group
explain why the gut is so critical—and how you can help it thrive
Think of it as a tiny universe of microorganisms living inside your body
“There are more microbial species in the gut than human cells,” Dr
Petros Benias, MDHow Does the Microbiome Affect Digestive Health? The microbiome breaks down foods that we eat
but its organisms can act differently based on the foods they encounter
processed foods such as deli meats and bacon are linked to increased numbers of cancer cells in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract
“Processed meats are designated Group 1 [highest-level] carcinogens by the World Health Organization,” Dr
Eating a high-fiber diet that includes foods such as berries
whole grains and vegetables like broccoli can promote a range of positive effects
“Fiber acts like a prebiotic in the gut, which brings two benefits,” Dr. Trindade says. “It stimulates the natural hormone GLP-1, which is essential for weight loss—and obesity is a risk factor in many GI-related cancerous and precancerous conditions, such as Barrett’s esophagus
A high-fiber diet also helps build a strong
which prevents pathogens from damaging healthy cells.” Regular exercise further benefits gut health and reduces the risk of chronic disease
“Exercise stimulates weight loss,” Dr
Family health history can play a role in nearly all digestive health disorders, from irritable bowel syndrome and gastrointestinal esophageal reflux disease (GERD, or heartburn) to conditions such as ulcerative colitis
Crohn’s disease and many GI-related cancers
Ethnicity may also be a factor: People of Asian descent have a higher risk for gastric or esophageal cancers
“Have open conversations with your family members about their health history,” Dr
“Ask if they’ve experienced any kinds of GI cancers or noncancerous polyps.”
bloating or flatulence may be signs of various illnesses
get a thorough exam from your primary care physician,” Dr
Red flags to watch for include bloody stools
early satiety (feeling full very soon after starting to eat) and persistent vomiting
“ Take these symptoms seriously,” Dr
“Ask your doctor for a referral to a gastroenterologist immediately.”
“Cancer data show a 1 to 2 percent increase in colorectal cancer every year over the last 20 years in people younger than 55,” Dr
“That’s a concerning number.”
studies show that GI-related cancers (of the colon
appendix and bile duct) are growing fastest among adults 30 to 39
Another analysis has shown that adults 45 to 64 experienced nearly twice the rate of esophageal cancer and a 50 per cent increase in Barrett’s esophagus between 2012 and 2019
Colonoscopy remains the gold standard for identifying colon cancer
The American Cancer Society now recommends that adults start screening for colon cancer at age 45
Trindade recommends screenings for Barrett’s esophagus for people who have GERD or those with a family history
“Patients can schedule a separate screening for Barrett’s esophagus
or they can have it done at the same time they have their colonoscopy,” he says
RWJBarnabas Health is building a comprehensive digestive disorders program
“We want to create an environment where anyone who needs help with their gastrointestinal system can get the highest standard of care locally,” says Dr
The program includes specialists with expertise in rare and emerging GI disorders. For example, Dr. Trindade specializes in Barrett’s esophagus, and Dr. Benias has clinical expertise in achalasia (a rare swallowing disorder) and complex digestive tract tumors
Patients will also benefit from the latest research and a team of surgeons and interventional endoscopists—experts in minimally invasive GI treatments
we can treat early cancers in the GI tract endoscopically
with same-day procedures that deliver excellent results,” Dr
“We aim to achieve curative resection [removal of an organ
a structure or tissue] in more than 90 percent of patients we treat
removing their cancer without invasive surgery.”

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (Workers Party - PT) fired Health Minister Nísia Trindade on February 25. In the two years that she led the ministry, her tenure was marked by the largest dengue outbreak in the country’s history and the deepening of the “herd immunity” policy in response to the COVID-19 pandemic
She will be replaced by the former Minister of Institutional Relations
who previously headed the Ministry of Health between 2011 and 2014 in the government of Dilma Rousseff (PT)
Former president of Brazil’s largest epidemiological institute
ex-minister Trindade was considered a “technical cadre” who had been chosen by Lula for his supposed “reconstruction of Brazil” after four years of destruction by the government of fascist ex-president Jair Bolsonaro (2019-2022)
Lula hopes that the health ministry under Padilha will help him increase his government’s increasingly low approval rating and put him in a better position in the 2026 presidential election
Absent from the bourgeois media has been an objective assessment of Trindade’s tenure at the head of the health ministry
first and foremost in the response to the COVID-19 pandemic
The many allegations in the media that her resignation represented an act of “misogyny” by the Lula government have been amplified by the pseudo-left
which throughout the pandemic has functioned as a left-wing cover for the “COVID forever” policy of the world’s ruling elite
Any serious assessment of Lula’s health ministry has to take stock of the COVID-19 pandemic in just over two years of his government
Brazil marked five years since the first case of COVID-19 in the country
a subject little reported in the Brazilian media
In mid-February 2023, shortly after Lula’s inauguration, his government’s health ministry decided to end the release of daily COVID-19 data in Brazil without any scientific basis
Trindade made her first nationwide pronouncement
the time has come to celebrate our country's biggest popular festival [Carnival].”
when the service and tourism sectors in Brazil make billions in profits
also expressed the Lula government’s intention not to place any restrictions on the economy even as the pandemic worsens.”
this situation has only worsened in Brazil
which saw an increase in the number of cases and deaths at the beginning of the year after the Christmas and end-of-year celebrations
an event that brings together millions of people across Brazil
has served as a super-spreader event for the novel coronavirus in the country
the Lula government has preferred to ignore science in favor of private profits
The country is going through a new wave of the COVID-19 pandemic
which will certainly worsen in the coming days and weeks due to Carnival
Data released on February 25 by the “Todos pela Saúde Institute” showed that the positivity rate for SARS-CoV-2
the increase in the positivity rate has coincided with the reopening of schools across Brazil for the start of the school year
These figures are supported by the National Council of Health Secretaries (CONASS)
between the second (9-16) and third (16-22) weeks of February
the number of cases rose from 13,709 to 22,097
Brazil has a total of 39 million cases and 715,000 deaths from COVID-19
COVID-19 data in Brazil, however, hugely underestimates the real rate of infections and deaths. A study entitled “Epicovid 2.0” published in December showed that 28.4 percent of the Brazilian population (around 60 million people) have already had at least one COVID-19 infection
a figure 1.5 times higher than the official count
When Trindade gave her speech at the end of February 2023
it was clear that the Lula government intended to ignore the need for nationally coordinated monitoring of the pandemic— exactly what had marked the open policy of “herd immunity” adopted by the Bolsonaro government
the speech made two years ago by former minister Trindade becomes even more repulsive in the face of what was promised
Repeating the claim of the world’s ruling elite that “our great ally is vaccination,” she continued: “The more people with a complete vaccination schedule
the more we will be protected from the severe forms of the disease.”
This was an explicit acknowledgement that the novel coronavirus would be free to spread in Brazil
ignoring the fact that even mild infections can cause numerous effects associated with Long COVID that can also be minimized with the vaccine
she welcomed the World Health Organization’s (WHO) unscientific decision to end the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency of International Concern
“We’re still going to live with COVID-19.”
At the end of 2023, the Lula government abandoned universal vaccination against COVID-19 and limited it to a few specific groups, deepening the “herd immunity” policy initiated by Bolsonaro. Throughout 2024, the lack of vaccines for COVID-19 and countless other diseases was widely reported in the Brazilian media
Brazil is applying the COVID-19 vaccine against variants of Omicron XBB
the variants that have been dominant in Brazil since the middle of last year are descended from JN.1
which is why the WHO has been recommending the use of updated vaccines for this variant since last April
According to an early February report in O Globo
the health ministry “could have asked [health agency] Anvisa for exceptional authorization to import ..
or made an exceptional purchase of doses ..
Without any warning to the population about COVID-19 and the effects associated with Long COVID
the vaccination campaign has been a failure
Only 21.6 percent of the population eligible to be immunized has taken the booster dose recommended by the Ministry of Health
Among most of the Brazilian population who have not updated their doses is former minister Trindade
who was recently exposed by the Brazilian media for not having taken the booster dose last year
The Lula government’s negligence in response to the pandemic is also expressed in relation to Long COVID
65.2 percent of people infected with the new coronavirus have or have had Long COVID
which corresponds to around 40 million people (18.9 percent of the Brazilian population)
A report by Agência Brasil in early February about a Fiocruz study showed that Long COVID “remains unnoticed in health services
indicating that patients are unable to obtain the necessary care and health services are not prepared to care for them.” According to the report
despite the high cost of Long COVID to individuals
awareness and understanding of this condition are very low.”
This widespread neglect of public health in Brazil by the Lula government has not gone unnoticed even among the unions that supported his election
Welfare and Social Assistance in the State of Rio de Janeiro (SINSPREV/RJ)—affiliated to the CTB union center controlled by the Maoist Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB) which is part of the PT party federation—wrote after Trindade’s dismissal that her tenure was marked “by authoritarianism
the instances of social control in the SUS ..
[and] the problems in vaccine management.”
It denounced the “slicing up of the federal network [of hospitals]
handing over hospitals to the municipality of Rio [de Janeiro] and to social organizations which in practice are disguised forms of privatization.” SINSPREV/RJ also wrote that this is a policy that “not even the extreme right has dared to practice in Brazil.” For this reason
workers at Rio de Janeiro’s federal hospitals have been on strike since May 2024
SINSPREV/RJ also criticized the “narrative of misogyny about Nísia Trindade’s dismissal,” the “end of public tenders” in federal public health and the fact that “Nísia Trindade’s management has never [complied] with the provisions of the 2023 strike agreement in federal health”
This is just one example of the countless sectors of the federal workforce that have gone on strike for months against the Lula government over the past year
such as teachers and federal education workers and environmental workers
Paulo reported at the end of January that “Lula’s base sees lack of social mobilization as a risk for the government and the election in 2026.” It mentioned the criticism from social movements and trade unions that Lula’s government has lost “connection with the popular layers,” which was expressed particularly in the fiasco of last year’s May Day rally organized by the PT-controlled trade union federations and their satellites
Lula has shown himself to be incapable of seeing the widespread social misery in Brazil that has undoubtedly been driven in part by the COVID-19 crisis
According to a report in Folha on February 27 based upon comments by Lula’s allies
the current president has an “excess of optimism that
The report also wrote that “Lula still hasn’t realized the true dimension of the problems his government is facing,” particularly “the sharp drop in his approval rating
which is even occurring in states in the Northeast
where the PT has always reaped an avalanche of votes” in the 2022 election
Lula’s alleged “alienation” has objective class roots
This is a government that was elected to satisfy a section of the Brazilian ruling class that was unhappy with Bolsonaro and received the support of Joe Biden’s government in the US and the European imperialist powers
this process is accelerating the defection of workers from the PT and the unions it controls
The fundamental task for Brazilian workers is to break with the illusions promoted by the pseudo-left and the unions that the Lula government can be pushed to the left
At a time when workers in the US and around the world are fighting back against attacks on their fundamental social and democratic rights
a process that will accelerate as the impact of Trump’s trade war intensifies
Brazilian workers must see their struggle in defense of social rights in Brazil as part of an international struggle against the source of these attacks

On Saturday, Mar. 29, RISE Kickboxing hosted RISE ELDORADO 2025
The event featured an exciting night of world-class kickboxing bouts
The event aired live on ABEMA Global pay-per-view starting at 12:30 a.m
Miguel Trindade knocking out Chadd Collins was the moment that shattered an entire weight class in kickboxing
Portugal’s Trindade caused the collapse of rankings in two organizations thus forcing them into a collaborative Grand Prix
Let’s set the stage as to why the knockout was so impactful at the time
Petpanomrung Kiatmuu9 was the long-standing king of the 145 lbs division
He held the title for years across both RISE and GLORY
the Thai-born fighter had cleared out the division and was making the list as an all-time great
he suddenly loses to Australia’s Chadd Collins
‘The Shark’ Chadd Collins was a world champion in Muay Thai but largely untested in Kickboxing
He challenged the RISE and GLORY world champion Petch and defeated him over five rounds
It looked like a passing of the torch moment
Miguel Trindade was a decent fighter who had some wins and losses in GLORY and ONE Championship
Trindade next faced the number-one-ranked Collins
It looked like an easy title defense for ‘The Shark.’ But in just 95 seconds
The number one ranked fighter just lost to an unranked athlete and in a very dominant way
The Portuguese striker dropped Collins three times throughout their short fight thus ending the clear and easy division rankings
and Trindade all had wins and losses against one another and a clear top-ranked fighter could not be picked
RISE and GLORY got together to create a one-night Grand Prix for this weight class featuring the very best of the stacked division
But Trindade earned another KO win against Chadd Collins
The powerful striker Miguel Trindade created a massive upset this year that set the stage for one of the best tournaments in kickboxing history
This is why Miguel Trindade’s knockout at RISE ELDORADO 2024 against Chadd Collins was the Combat Press Kickboxing Knockout of the Year
‘It’s going to be a very interesting second half of this year
the market had it easy over the first half’
Despite markets pricing in interest rate cuts in the US in September
following on from similar decisions in the UK and Europe
AXA IM fixed income portfolio manager Nicolas Trindade argues that short duration is still the place to be
He manages a number of AXA IM’s fixed income offerings, including its Global Short Duration Bond fund, which was recently upgraded to an ‘AA’ rating by Square Mile
“It’s going to be a very interesting second half of this year
I think the market had it easy over the first half,” Trindade says
“It’s been pretty smooth sailing so far
Credit spreads have been tightening quite nicely since the beginning of the year
when we had that little wobble because of the French elections
and in early August due to a growth scare in the US following a weak payroll print
but I’m worried that the second half of this year is going to be a lot more challenging for investors
We are positioned for a difficult second half
running more duration on the front end and less credit risk than we have had historically.”
See also: Pridham report: Over half of UK fund groups grow net sales for third straight quarter
While investors may be tempted to lock in higher interest rates by going long duration while central banks are still in the first phases of initiating a rate-cutting cycle
Trindade presents the case for short-dated strategies
He says the front end of the market is attractive because of the inverted shape of the yield curve
the incentive to lengthen duration is not really there
you take more duration risk for either less or a similar level of yield
so you’re still better off being at the front end.”
Trindade points out that normally longer duration may perform better than short-dated bonds in a rate cutting cycle
“That is only true as long as the yield curve shifts in a parallel fashion,” he says
“If the yield curve shifts in a parallel fashion
you will be making more money by being longer duration
what we expect in this cycle is a strong bull steepening of the yield curve
where front end yields will fall by more than being at the long end of the curve
That is because we expect an ageing population
increased defence spending and the transition to a net zero economy to lead to more government borrowing mostly focused on the belly and long-end of the curve
“If you have a very strong bull steepening of the yield curve
then even on a total return basis you may still be better off being in front of the market rather than the long end.”
Short duration can also better protect investors against further inflationary shocks and interest rates diverging from expectations
Trindade says that in the event of a Trump presidency in November
the potential increase of tariffs on foreign goods in the US along with tax cuts could cause an inflationary shock which could cause central banks to stop cutting rates
you definitely don’t want to be long duration
you can have your cake and eat it when you’re in the short-dated market
Not only do you benefit from very attractive yields
and therefore you benefit from central banks cutting rates
but you also benefit from better protections in case central banks don’t cut rates
It’s a very good place to be in right now.”
The AXA Global Short Duration Bond fund has the flexibility to invest across the short-dated fixed income universe
the managers are allocating more defensively
Trindade says they are happy to carry less high-risk investments in the portfolio
with less emerging market risk than usual as he believes there will be a better entry point in the future
“There are a lot less opportunities in the market right now than just 12 months ago
when there was an underperformance of French assets on the back of Emmanuel Macron calling a snap election in July
we took that as an opportunity for us to add exposure to French assets
“We bought some French government bonds and some French banks ahead of the first round of voting
because our view was that the likelihood of an outright majority from the far left and far right was quite limited
we were happy to buy more French risk assets at much more attractive valuations.”

Another area of the market he finds appealing is in sterling investment grade bonds
particularly in other UK water companies on the back of Thames Water’s recent struggles
“Thames Water has been going through a difficult time
and we haven’t had any exposure to that for some time
that has created some pressure on other UK water names
and some of them are very well run with adequate amounts of leverage and have been underperforming because of what’s been happening with Thames Water
“It has created opportunities for us as active managers to pick the names we like fundamentally at much more attractive spreads.”
the arrival of a new government in the UK has prompted many investors to begin to explore opportunities in Britain once again after years of negative sentiment
Asked about the implications of the change in government for fixed income
Trindade says: “It makes it more attractive at the asset class level
There are a lot of investors that just wouldn’t look at sterling investment grade because of what was happening in the UK since Brexit
and we are overweight sterling investment grade in our Global fund
“Some investors may revisit the case for UK equities
because of the expected political stability and a centralised government which has quite a business-friendly agenda
I think that is a positive for the asset class
because the political instability that we have had in the last couple of years was a big break on overseas investors looking at assets.”
he expects the BoE to cut rates twice this year
“We think the BoE has quite a strong incentive to cut rates this year and next year
because there’s still that time bomb of mortgages which will have an impact not only on mortgage holders
“I think there’s an acknowledgement from the BoE that that’s going to have a massive impact on consumer spending
and therefore they need to get ahead of the game from that perspective.”

The Reds will host Vitor Pereira’s side at Anfield on Sunday afternoon and the clash with the Midlands club could be a pivotal one in the Merseyside club’s season
Having been knocked out of the FA Cup and having victory snatched away from them at the last moment against Everton, Liverpool could arrive into Sunday’s match with just four points between themselves and Arsenal
Dropping points against Wolves could really halt momentum and with Aston Villa
Liverpool will not want to be dropping points at home
One man who will be trying to stop the Reds from securing victory is midfielder Andre Trindade
who could have been playing for the home side had he made a different decision in 2023
Having missed out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia to Chelsea during the summer of 2023, Liverpool turned their attention to Andre
The Reds would decide to push for the midfielder and made their move
only for the Brazilian star to turn down their offer
Andre has since revealed why he rejected Liverpool admitting it was a result of a promise he made to his Fluminense manager at the time
the last window I didn’t talk about it,” Andre admitted to CONMEBOL’s Libertadores X account
“It was really I couldn’t refuse; the club
every player dreams to play in a big European club
[Fernando] Diniz [Fluminense manager] told me he wanted me until the end of the year
We didn’t know an offer like that would appear
we were in the round of 16 of Libertadores
I don’t know if I’d feel 100% comfortable with myself
This is a very admirable decision Andre made and it says a lot about his character
which will bode well for the midfielder in the future
Arne Slot is still on the lookout for a number six heading into the summer transfer window and seeing as Liverpool missed out on Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi
Andre moved to Wolves last summer as part of a £21m deal with Fluminense as the Brazilian midfielder opted for a change away from Brazil
The 23-year-old’s decision to turn down a move to Liverpool has worked out for him as he has since won the Copa Libertadores and secured a move to Europe
where he has been a big part of the current Wolves team
The 23-year-old has featured in 19 games for the Midlands club this season and has shown that he can mix it in England’s top flight
Liverpool were linked with Andre again before he completed his move to Wolves this summer
which shows that the Reds retained their interest in the player
Having racked up experience in the Premier League
the Brazilian could still be an option for the Reds heading into the summer as the Merseyside club hope to add a number six to their squad
Slot will get a closer look at the 23-year-old on Sunday and a solid performance from the Wolves star could see him become Ryan Gravenberch‘s deputy for the 2025/26 campaign

With the addition of Brazilian international Andre into Gary O’Neil’s squad on transfer deadline day
wolves.co.uk explores what the centre-midfielder will bring to Molineux
Andre has spent his entire footballing career with Fluminense having first joined the club’s youth set-up at the age of 12
Having progressed through the age groups during the following eight years
Andre made his professional debut in September 2020
with his Serie A debut coming against Sport Recife
Andre has turned out almost 200 times for his boyhood club
scoring his first professional goal in July 2021
during a season where he claimed the division’s best newcomer award
netting a last-minute winner in a 1-0 away success over Joao Gomes’ Flamengo
He celebrated his 100th game for Fluminense in October 2022
Andre has claimed several titles and personal accolades in recent years
claiming the Copa Libertadores (the South American equivalent of the Champions League)
as well as a pair of Taca Guanabaras and two Campeonato Cariocas with Tricolor
as well as earning five caps for the Brazil national team – missing out on a place at this summer’s Copa America due to a small injury
During his time in the Fluminense senior side
Andre has been the number six in a team which has liked to play with a high-risk style of football
which has been favoured by managers such as Pep Guardiola and Roberto De Zerbi
battling midfield player who likes to win the ball on the edge of his own box and play his team out of danger
Andre was used as the first pass into midfield with the team building through him
and embraces pressure against him from opponents
He has shown real confidence on the ball and is comfortable to sit in and break up possession
His style and performances for Fluminense saw him called him up to the Brazilian national team for the first time in June 2023 by Tite
It’s easy to draw similarities to fellow Brazilian Joao Gomes both in terms of pathway and style but Andre is expected to establish himself in his own right
complimenting the blend of Wolves’ current midfield whilst bringing his own style of play to Molineux and providing Gary O’Neil with more options
The recruitment department first reported on Andre in August 2021 during the 2021 Serie A season
where he began to really breakthrough and establish himself in Fluminense's midfield – this was around the same time the club scouted Joao Gomes and made trips to watch both players alongside Enzo Fernandez in Argentina
While Wolves managed to recruit Gomes in January 2023
the club have continued to monitor Andre closely and after appointing a Brazilian scout based in the country last summer
they have been actively attending his games live over the last 12 months
Recruitment and coaching staff have working extremely closely on signings during O’Neil’s tenure
and the club has developed an app over the last 12 months where the scouting department can display their top prospective signings in each position
The coaching staff have been very interested in Andre’s profile and despite central midfield not being a priority position this window
the chance to sign the Brazilian was deemed too good to turn down once the opportunity presented itself this summer
When scouting any potential player for Wolves
the recruitment team build a reference timeline where they speak to dozens of former teammates
managers and agents who can provide personal information about the player
who was at Flamengo for the entirety of his career in Brazil before joining Wolves
all the feedback the club has received about Andre has been overwhelmingly positive
he is a player who fits the ‘gritty’ Brazilian type

Wolves have a serious player on their hands in Andre Trindade
The Brazilian had a fairly low-key start to life at Molineux following his move from Fluminense in the summer of 2024
Andre was not an immediate regular for Wolves
with Gary O’Neil putting his faith in the likes of Joao Gomes and Mario Lemina
Famously, O’Neil said Andre struggled with the detail of the game against Manchester City
The notion of Andre being taken off in any game at half-time now – aside from the player struggling with an injury – is certainly laughable
Since Vitor Pereira came in
the South American seems to have gone to a new level and is standing out every time he takes to the field
And his class has been acknowledged by the fans – and also Pedro Lima
Andre would have been a deserving Player of the Month winner for March at Wolves
And the supporters saw fit to vote for him
Andre was the runaway winner of the latest SUDU award
easily beating off competition from Jean-Ricner Bellegarde (15.4%)
Emmanuel Agbadou (9.2%) and Jorgen Strand Larsen (7.1%)
It is the second time Andre has won Player of the Month at Wolves
The standout performance from Andre in March probably came against Everton
Andre set a 2024/25 Premier League record for most possessions won in the middle third (11), and then followed that up with another fine showing against Southampton.
View this post on Instagram A post shared by André Trindade (@andre7)
Andre marked his Player of the Month win with a post on Instagram – and hundreds of fans congratulated him
He also received a comment from Pedro Lima
who left a comment that plenty of fans will firmly agree with
which of course translates to ‘Monster 🔥’
so it just shows what a top player he is that he can look so comfortable
He is always available at the base of midfielder and very rarely gives the ball away when he has it
Perhaps not on the same level as his midfield partner Joao Gomes
But he’s definitely happy to put a foot in
He’s also a great dribbler. Data from March showed Andre actually had 100% dribble success rate
and it’s now dawning on people why there was actually a bit of surprise that Wanderers beat off the competition to sign him last summer
Blog of the European Journal of International Law
was unquestionably a towering figure of international law and a profound influence on many
Cançado Trindade had always kept an intransigent commitment to humanized international law
one sensitive and attentive to the needs of individual human beings
His inexhaustible intellectual curiosity and deep passion for international law were only matched by his kindness and humility
Born in Belo Horizonte (Brazil) in 1947 to a family of medical doctors
Cançado Trindade was fascinated by international law
While pursuing a law degree at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG)
His interest in international law manifested quite early in law school
to the point that he would skip other classes to go to the library and read the Collected Courses of the Hague Academy
After graduating from the UFMG in 1969 and with the deepening of the military dictatorship in Brazil
he decided to continue his graduate studies in law at Cambridge
he travelled frequently to Strasbourg and followed the developments in the case-law of the European Court of Human Rights in the 1970s
Cançado Trindade also became the first Latin American to receive the Diploma from the Intenational Institute of Human Rights
His doctoral research on the application of the rule of exhaustion of local remedies and its relevance for the protection of human rights earned him the Yorke Prize and became a seminal work on the topic
that after submitting his 1700-page thesis
the Faculty of Law of the University of Cambridge decided to change the regulations to limit the length of PhD theses to 100,000 words
Cançado Trindade started his teaching career at University of Brasilia in 1978 and later at the Rio Branco Institute (the Brazilian Diplomatic Academy)
where he taught different generations of lawyers and Brazilian diplomats for 30 years
and communicating knowledge accompanied him throughout his career and became even more salient when he was at the international bench
he tried to bring together these different branches of international law under an overarching
I still remember the shock I felt when I arrived in Geneva to study international law and suddenly realised that not everyone was enthusiastic about jus cogens
that the pro persona principle was something that only existed in the “distant” Inter-American Human Rights System
and that Humankind was not a subject of international law
the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights
the Inter-American Convention to Prevent and Punish Torture among others
Cançado Trindade worked as a legal consultant for several UN agencies and other international organizations
while keeping a good relationship with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
he was nominated director of the Inter-American Institute for Human Rights and later that year joined the Brazilian delegation to the World Conference on Human Rights
Due to his already notoriety in the field of international human rights law
he was elected in 1994 by the General Assembly of the Organization of American States to serve as a judge in the Inter-American Court of Human Rights
His influence in the jurisprudential developments of the Court was so immense
that some have called it the Corte Cançado Trindade
the needs of individual human beings were front and centre
Asked about being the smallest of the minorities
he would quote Isaiah Berlin’s Against the Current: one cannot settle for conventional wisdom but needs to seek for ways to improve the human condition
Instead of hiding under the veil of neutrality and impartiality
he was explicit about his commitments and worldview
Some have frowned at his style and criticized him for being too prolix and counterproductive
but Cançado Trindade was faithful to his tradition and consistent throughout his career
He brought to bear an unmistakably Mineiro accent that was conciliatory
Coming from a country where judges are required by law to explain their decisions in writing and court’s deliberations are not only open to the public but also broadcasted on live TV
Unbothered about the lack of adhesion to his positions by his peers
he hoped to infuse his humanized sensibilities into the new generations of international law scholars (and judging from the reactions to his death
He was always keen to engage with students
As he wrote in the final pages of his General Course in the Hague Academy:
by learning properly the lessons of the past
It has been in historical moments of crisis
such as the one we currently witness and endure
that one has gathered energy and found inspiration to endeavour to improve the human condition
Human conscience does not capitulate in face of great adversities; quite on the contrary
it awakens as to the pressing need to face new challenges and to construct a better world
[…] I dare to express my own confidence that
being faithful to the humanist and universalist vision of the founding fathers of our discipline
the new generations of its scholars will succeed to keep on construct- ing

We reported over the weekend that Manchester United and Wolves denied any interest in Andre Trindade, with the Brazilian potentially on his way to the Premier League
Back in July, HITC also reported that Fulham were confident of signing Andre from the South American side but the Cottagers turned their attention to Norwegian Sander Berge from Burnley
with the fee being in the region of £25 million
The signing of Berge has meant that Fulham have ended their interest in Andre and now Nottingham Forest could be the latest side to enter the race for the Brazilian
According to a report from South American outlet Lance
Nuno Espirito Santo’s Forest are the latest side to register their interest in the 24-year-old midfielder
Fluminense president Mário Bittencourt has said he’ll do everything to find a European club for the player in this window
He has also stated the Brazil international has received approaches from other clubs after Fulham ended their interest following the signing of Berge
Forest midfielder Danilo suffered an injury earlier this month and the report says this could be another factor for the Reds to make an approach for his compatriot
was reportedly in Brazil to watch the U20 Intercontinental Cup tie between Flamengo and Olympiacos
It is unclear if the Greek owner was in South America to hold talks over a deal for Andre but there seems to be murmurings
Back in January, Andre had been linked with a move to Turkey but HITC reported that the midfielder was desperate to move to the Premier League.
Fulham had agreed terms back then but Joao Palhinha remained at the West London club which meant they couldn’t get a deal over the line for the Brazilian
With just days to go before the transfer window in England slams shut
surely this will be the time for the Brazilian to finally get his dream move to the Premier League and potentially to a historic club like Forest
The Brazilian midfielder could have been the Reds’ new number six
but chose to stay and win the Copa Libertadores with his boyhood club
Few Liverpool supporters will have begrudged Andre – or Fluminense – that decision
but 12 months on and the picture is now very different
Andre has missed most of the season, which began in April, and Flu are rock bottom of the Brazilian top flight. The 23-year-old’s value has plummeted following that failed move to Anfield
Nevertheless, the Fluminense president has mentioned Liverpool and Andre once again this week
When Liverpool pulled out of the race to sign Andre last year
it was clear that the Brazil international was going nowhere at that time
the expectation was very much that Andre would be properly on the market once the European winter window rolled around
Some might have expected Liverpool to come back in, but the Reds did not. Instead, Fulham seemed the the most likely to sign Andre
No deal was ever completed by the Cottagers
Fast forward to this summer and Fulham are again being linked with Andre
with a move reportedly very close to being completed
READ MORE: Brazilian football expert explains why Andre Trindade is better than Bruno Guimaraes
Despite Liverpool staying away from the midfielder, they have still not fully sorted their defensive midfield issue. As a result of Liverpool’s interest in Andre being so strong last year
it has felt as though he may still be on the shortlist at Anfield
or even no chance of Liverpool coming back in for Andre
“I haven’t heard Liverpool’s name come up again,” Bailey exclusively tells Rousing The Kop
they’ve got a need for him with Joao Palhinha leaving
From what I’m hearing there’s no talk of Liverpool coming back in.”
Liverpool are really missing a trick by not signing Andre
He is clearly available at a decent price and they have obviously already done their homework on him
There was a reason they were close to making him a Liverpool player last year and we don’t see how an awful lot has changed since then
the moment for Andre to join the Reds does appear to have well and truly gone
But that doesn’t mean that Liverpool’s need for a player in his mould has disappeared, too. Arne Slot could still do with a tough-tackling
Consequently, we think Slot may still sign Ederson, Andre’s teammate in the Brazilian national team. Atalanta have just signed a new defensive midfielder and therefore the door could be open for Liverpool and Ederson.
In the meantime, we fully expect to see Andre join Fulham before coming back on Liverpool’s radar for twice the price somewhere down the line. That’s just the way it goes.
the most hard-nosed of Wolves supporters must feel some sympathy for a player only a few months into his Premier League career
Wolverhampton Wanderers won the £21 million race over the summer
with the man in question hoping he was joining a club looking to build upon a mixed first season under Gary O’Neil
Instead, it appears that Andre Trindade ended up purchasing a ticket for the Titanic
rewarded only with a close-up view of the iceberg ready to send Wolverhampton Wanderers sinking into the seabed
The former Fluminense midfielder hasn’t exactly set the world alight in his 10 Premier League starts thus far
it is hard to think of more trying circumstances for a new player hoping to settle into a new league and a new country
considered distribution has been a rare glint of bright in an otherwise pitch-black sky – the Brazil international performed ‘very
while completing 100 per cent of his passes – but as Wolves drift further and further into chaos
Andre feels increasingly like a pilot trying to calmly guide his craft in the midst of an electrical storm
the 2023 Copa Libertadores winner is maybe playing more minutes than he would have done at Liverpool
Arriving at Molineux with ten Brazil caps under his belt and amid suggestions that he could be Casemiro’s long-term successor for the Selecao
what impact will Wolves’ horror show of a season have on his once-glittering reputation
Competition may have been far fiercer at Liverpool
but Andre could be forgiven for glancing enviously at the Premier League table and wishing that Mario Bittencourt had issued a different response during the summer of 2023
When Liverpool submitted a £25 million bid for Andre
Manchester United and high-flying Nottingham Forest were linked with Andre
“We had an offer of 30 million euros from Liverpool for Andre. And we said ‘no’. We had agreed, along with the player, that we would not sell because we wanted to win the Libertadores,” Bittencourt tells Globo Esporte
a decision justified when Fluminense defeated Boca Juniors to claim South America’s answer to the Champions League a few months later
“We refused Liverpool to prioritise the Libertadores
because they said it was financially irresponsible
it would have been sportingly irresponsible.”
Bittencourt would also confirm, via Radio Itatiaia, that Fulham ‘had been looking for Andre
The Fluminense chief added that an offer had arrived from Craven Cottage that previous January too
Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister at Anfield
meant that Wolverhampton Wanderers found themselves with a relatively clear run at Andre when the time finally came to pack his bags back in August
with Liverpool looking like clear favourites for the title and Wolves staring relegation in the face
Bittencourt maybe shouldn’t expect a card from Andre Trindade this Christmas
Liverpool’s pursuit of Premier League glory continues as they prepare to host Wolves at Anfield this Sunday
This fixture isn’t just another match in their challenging schedule—it’s a pivotal moment
But as the Reds seek to regain their momentum
one player stands out as a symbol of what might have been: Wolves midfielder Andre Trindade
Liverpool found themselves in need of midfield reinforcements
After missing out on top targets to rivals
His decision wasn’t about the allure of playing time or the promise of a higher profile; it was about honouring a commitment

Since joining Wolves for a £21 million deal from Fluminense
Andre has not only settled but also shone in the Premier League
he has demonstrated his ability to compete at the highest level
intertwining skill with physicality—an essential blend for the English top flight
Liverpool’s interest in the Brazilian hasn’t waned despite his initial rejection
As the Reds aim to bolster their midfield options
especially as they continue to scout for a new number six
This Sunday’s match offers Liverpool’s manager
potentially seeing him as a valuable addition for the next season
this Sunday’s clash has significant implications for Liverpool
The team’s recent performances have been a mixed bag
with an unexpected FA Cup exit and a disheartening draw against Everton
the pressure mounts not just to win but to win convincingly
A loss or even a draw could severely dent their title hopes
especially with challenging fixtures against Aston Villa
the match at Anfield is more than just another game; it’s a chance to prove his worth against a team that once sought his services
His performance will not only influence the game’s outcome but could also sway Liverpool’s summer transfer decisions
A strong showing might solidify his place as a key player in the Premier League and perhaps pave the way for a future move to Merseyside
As Liverpool continues their quest for domestic and European success
the narrative of missed opportunities and what-ifs
serves as a poignant reminder of the fine margins defining football’s complex transfer dynamics
it’s not just points that are on the line at Anfield

Wolves are reportedly on the verge of finalising a deal for Fluminense midfielder Andre Trindade
who has previously been linked with Manchester United
The five-time capped Brazilian international is considered to be one of the best talents in South America and has been keen to seal a move to the Premier League
The 23-year-old joined Fluminense in 2021 and has made 197 appearances for the club
netting four goals and making four assists in the process
Andre’s fine performances earned him a call up to the Brazil squad and he made his debut in June last year
He plays as a defensive midfielder and he will compete with the likes of Joao Gomes
Mario Lemina and Boubacar Traore at Molineux
Fulham were close to signing Andre in July and he was even set to travel to London for a medical
but the move never materialised and they signed Sander Berge from Burnley instead
Fulham paid £25m for Berge and according to HITC
Wolves are set to pay similar for Andre – who will become the Midlands club’s fifth signing of the summer
The report claims that ‘a deal has been agreed in principle between Wolves and Fluminense with a fee understood to be in the region of €25 million (£21 million) including add-ons.’

Personal terms are ‘not expected to be a problem’ between Andre and Wolves so the deal is ‘accelerating towards the completion stage,’ with just over 48 hours remaining until the transfer deadline
Wolves’ move for Andre has prompted speculation about their star midfielder Joao Gomes, who is admired by the likes of Liverpool and Man Utd.
There have been rumours that Liverpool could turn to Gomes after missing out on Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi
but journalist Liam Keen has insisted that Wolves won’t let him go for anything less than a ‘huge fee.’
“Wolves categorically adamant they will not be losing Joao Gomes this summer, regardless of signing Andre. Would take a huge fee and club not entertaining it,” Keen posted on X.
Gomes could now line up next to his Brazil teammate Andre when Wolves face Nottingham Forest in a big fixture at the City Ground on Saturday
Gary O’Neil’s side have lost their first two matches of the Premier League campaign and were thrashed 6-2 by Chelsea in their last league game
But there were positive signs on Wednesday night when they beat Burnley 2-0 in the League Cup and will hope to take the confidence from that win into the weekend

Gustavo Trindade MBA’17 is a man of many talents
Born and raised in the beach town of Rio de Janeiro
Trindade received his undergraduate degree in finance in that same country
He began a career in finance and earned high praise early on
recognized by Institutional Investor magazine as one of the top LATAM professionals in investor relations
“It meant a lot to me as it showed me I was good at what I was doing,” he shared
“I was awarded with something that not even my direct boss had won
It also helped me get promoted and become one of the youngest managers in a 3,000-employee conglomerate.”
the investor relations strategist also recognized that his homeland was experiencing political and economic turmoil
and he started searching for other shores to explore
he decided it was a good moment to pause his career
“I had one boss specifically that had told me ‘You’re too local
that was the main motivation: to open my mind
That motivation led him to Babson’s MBA program
Trindade was focused on making connections and expanding his professional network
One path he took to make those connections: working as a graduate assistant for Associate Professor Bob Turner
“When I wanted to ask questions or look for help
That’s how important he was in my experience here.”
Trindade found connections with many of Babson’s other professors
He praises their accessibility and their approachable nature
“They don’t need to hide behind the title; they’re comfortable enough for you to call them by their first names.”
Trindade was drawn to Miami, not only because it’s the so-called capital of Latin America, but also because of the Babson Connect initiative which runs there every January. He took advantage of opportunities to travel to the city through career treks with the Graduate Center for Career Development
“I had January ’16 and January ’17 to go to Miami to do company treks
“There is also a networking aspect for you to meet with alumni.”
Those experiences solidified Trindade’s interest in working in the city
which has been heralded as a thriving marketplace for entrepreneurs
You have to be in a city that does business with Latin America
It helped me understand that if I want to stay in this country
When he returned to Wellesley to finish his degree
Trindade started verbalizing his goal to eventually move back to Miami
Bob Turner told the young graduate assistant that Babson had recently acquired a license to start a campus in that city and introduced him to the person who would eventually become Trindade’s boss—Kevin Sullivan
vice president of Corporate Engagement and Off Campus Operations
Trindade has been leading the Miami hub ever since
Seizing that opportunity is one of many ways he puts the entrepreneurial mindset he developed at Babson to work
“Babson has a little bit of everything and by being an entrepreneurship-focused school
it forces you to be open minded,” said Trindade
you’re not paying attention to opportunities
and you need to find the opportunities if you want to launch something one day.”

“I regret not to be able to concur with the decision taken by the majority of the Court… Given the high importance that I attach to the issues raised in the present Order
I feel obliged to present and leave on the records
the foundations of my position on the matter.”
“With regard to the development of the law
I think of the victims themselves… Above all
the victims… And I can tell you something: this has also had a great repercussion among the young generations
wherever I go… Not necessarily [only the young generations of lawyers]… Also
sometimes the young generations of human rights workers who do not have a legal background… [Y]ou know the erosion of time takes everything away
But when you know that young people learn and identify themselves with the cause that has driven us to do this
That younger people are taking this flag that once we took up
and they’ll take this fight on in the future—and continue to defend human rights for the years to come.”
