Flight 211 took off from General Leite de Castro Airport in Rio Verde, Goiás at 6:03 pm and was headed to Guarulhos, São Paulo when the pilot noticed the problem with the ATR 72-600 aircraft. The pilot requested an emergency landing at 6:54 pm and landed the aircraft in Uberlândia, Minas Gerais at 7:14 pm. Brazilian news outlet Metropoles reported that the problem was due to an 'electrical failure' in the aircraft.  The incident comes just six days after Voepass Flight 2283 crashed in Vinhedo, São Paulo, killing all 62 passengers on board. A video recorded by an airport employee captured the moment the airplane landed safely at Uberlândia–Tenente Coronel Aviador César Bombonato Airport and later taxied to the gate. 'The aircraft landed with all operational systems working,' Voepass Airlines said in a statement. The passengers were placed on another Voepass flight to continue their trip to Guarulhos, which departed at 10:21 pm. Brazilian news outlet G1 reported that two couples declined to get on the airplane. Imaging provided by FlightAware, the flight tracking data company, showed the airplane bound circled around Minas Gerais before it rerouted to Uberlândia.  Airport operator Aena said in a statement that it 'allocated all resources from the Emergency Plan to handle the operation, but there was no need to activate it and all passengers disembarked safely, without requiring medical care.' Authorities investigating the August 9 crash already have the transcript of the black boxes, but have been unable to explain what caused the airplane to fall from the sky. TV Globo was able to access the transcript from the cockpit voice recorded which indicated that the pilot and copilot noticed a steep loss of altitude one minute before the crash. The Voepass ATR-72-500 turboprop plane departed from Cascavel, Paraná and crashed at around 1:30 p.m.  Cell phone videos showed the aircraft spinning before it plummeted into the backyard of a condominium. The Brazilian Air Force said that the pilots did not report an emergency or adverse weather conditions. Investigators told TV Globo that the analysis of the audio alone was unlikely to help determine the cause of the crash and that they have not identified any characteristic sounds, such as from fire, electrical collapse or engine breakdowns.  The audio was said to be difficult to listen to because of the noise of engines near the cabin. Dr. Claudia Alves, 42, was arrested at her home Wednesday morning in Itambura, Goiás, after she allegedly duped a family into stealing their baby, before stuffing her into a backpack and escaping the hospital in the middle of the night.  The newborn baby was reunited with her parents at a hospital later in the day. Alves managed to abduct the baby just three hours after she was born when she walked into the parents' room at Uberlândia Federal University Hospital Clinic and identified herself as a pediatrician who was there to feed their daughter, it's alleged. The doctor was seen on a hospital surveillance camera carrying the baby – who was covered in a blanket – and then returning to her car before she drove 83 miles to her residence in Itambura. According to O Tempo newspaper, Alves left the baby at her home with her maid. A police unit took the baby to a local medical facility while another remained near the residence and arrested Alves when she returned.   Isabella Inácio told Metrópoles news that the baby has a heart condition and will be requiring special care.  Uberlândia Civil Police chief Marcos Brandão said the baby is in good health.  'She underwent tests and is fine. There is no sign of mistreatment,' Brandão said, as quoted by Brazilian news outlet G1.  Goiás Civil Police said Alves confessed to arresting officers that she was ill and that she was on medication. However, Civil Police chief Anderson Pelágio told TV Anhanguera that they doubted her claims because Alves had previously purchased clothing and accessories for the baby prior to the kidnapping. New details have revealed that Alves' car was filled with baby items - including pink clothing and changing bags filled with diapers.  Uberlândia Civil Police chief, Marcos Brandão, FM O Tempo 91.7 radio that investigators learned of Alves' whereabouts after camera snapped her photo after she failed to pay at a highway toll booth. Inside her home, she also had a pink baby bath, a stroller, a baby car seat, as well as formula to feed a newborn baby and pink Disney toys.  'She bought several items for the baby, such as diapers and a stroller, which suggests that she planned the events,' the police said. 'She did not show any motivation or whether she was going to keep the baby, register it in her name or give it to a third party.'  Alves was charged with kidnapping and faces up to eight years in prison if she is found guilty, because the victim is under the age of 18.  Surveillance video showed the suspect stepping out of a red vehicle at 11:18 pm wearing a lab coat, cap, face mask, gloves and yellow backpack as she walked towards the clinic on Tuesday. At 11:46 pm, the woman was spotted walking next to a hospital worker with the baby stuffed in the backpack. Nine minutes passed before security cameras showed her walking towards the car with the baby in one of her hands before speeding away. The baby's father, Édson Ferreira, previously told the station that Alves went to their room where his daughter and his wife were recovering following the 8 pm delivery by cesarean section. Along with the security guards, they were 'fooled' by the woman's behavior during the five minutes she spent in the room.  He recalled Alves touching his wife's breasts to check if she would be able to breastfeed her and then told her that she would be taking the girl to feed her milk. 'It's a relief just to see my daughter again,' Ferreira said. 'There's no price I can pay. May justice be served, may this woman really be arrested and this never happen to anyone else.' On her social media networks, Alves states that she had been teaching part-time at Uberlândia Federal University since May.  She also listed that has been a full-time professor at Goiás State University Faculty of Medicine since 2019. She claimed to have obtained her medicine degree from the Uberlândia Federal University at Triângulo Mineiro in 2004 and that she did her residency in clinical medicine at the school in 2007.  Later in 2011, Alves completed her neurology residence at the same university. 'Medicine is a rollercoaster of emotions! It has its ups and downs, its challenges and its victories, but one thing is certain: I love what I do,' She wrote on her profile. Uberlândia Federal University Hospital Clinic is investigating the incident.  'kidnaps newborn baby from hospital'Commenting on this article has endedNewest{{#isModerationStatus}}{{moderationStatus}} The shocking moment a one-year-old girl was hit and bit by two teachers at a nursery in Brazil was caught on camera.  Surveillance footage showed the baby and other toddlers playing on the ground at Tutti Bambini, a school in the southeastern city of Uberlândia, where she was attacked on October 7. One of the women, whose name has not been released, leaned over and slapped the toddler on the backside and then sat down to tend to another baby girl. A second woman, an 18-year-old whose name has also not been released, then entered the room and aggressively picked the girl off the ground and sat her down. She subsequently grabbed the girl's left arm and bit her while the other worker looked on without intervening. The baby could be seen touching her arm before the woman pulled her arm back and began to apply an unknown substance over the bite mark. The parents were concerned after noticing the mark on their daughter's arm and were told by the woman that their daughter had bitten herself. They doubted the nursery workers' claims and demanded an inspection of the surveillance camera system, which unearthed the employee's lies. The girl's father, who withheld his identity, told TV Integreçao that his wife has been guilt-ridden ever since learning that the nursery workers abused their daughter while adding that the school has been worried more about its reputation being tarnished over the child's welfare. The distraught mother, who also declined to be named, has been having problems sleeping and constantly wakes up in the middle of the night crying. 'Everyone stood there, looking at her and she cried for minutes. They kept pulling her arm to see if there was a mark, applying cream with all their strength,' she said. 'It destroyed me. It was something I never thought of. 'It's hard for me to see all of this,' she added. 'My daughter is one year old and she has no way of defending herself.' Both assistants were immediately fired by Tutti Bambini on October 8. 'We would like to emphasize that, throughout our 10-year history, our school has always maintained a high standard of care and attention ... we have prioritized the creation of a family and supportive environment, as has been noticed by all the parents who have been with us throughout this time,' the nursery said in a statement.  'However, we recognize that we have no control over individual reactions and behaviors, and unexpected situations may occur.' The Minas Gerais Civil Police is investigating the incident.  {{message}} Read on for UFC Fight Night main card results... 02 Feb 2025 21:30:00 GMT?.css-1txiau5-AnswerContainer{color:var(--GlobalColorScheme-Text-secondaryText2);}Cruzeiro won 3–1 over Uberlandia on Sun The current head to head record for the teams are Cruzeiro 3 win(s) Cruzeiro have won the previous 2 matches against Uberlandia. Speaking to Off The Ball, Martyn Ziegler of The Times said the report accounted for "probably one of the darkest days in the history of sport" "I understand that there might be this cloud but from my perspective I know when these Games start that it will take over everything," Ireland's 100m breaststroke hopeful Nicholas Quinn tells Newstalk.com "Regardless of everything that has happened beforehand they’ll still talk about it at those Games but I don’t believe that people will refuse to watch the swimming or the golf for whatever controversies that have happened there’s always something that’s not right and it’s so big you’ll never have it perfect Not to say that all the stuff that has happened will be forgotten about but the Olympics in itself is still going to be the Olympics Things like this come around once every four years but there’s so little that would stop me from going to this You would have to do something awful to me to want me to not go to it It’s something I’ve dreamed of for so long In all honestly it doesn’t even occur to me." The event is relaxed as each swimmer present chats openly with members of the media sharing their personal experiences to get them to this point each of these athletes are just relishing the chance to represent their Ireland at the Games in Rio They swam before me and naturally I just followed them I played all other sports as well and gradually dropped them one-by-one until there was only one left standing." The 23-year-old attended St Gerald’s College the same school as a number of current Mayo footballers including Cillian O'Connor and Aidan O'Shea it was swimming that stuck with him above all others I loved being able to push myself and work hard I’m pretty competitive so I enjoyed that aspect of it as well I could control it so it was up to me if I did well or I didn’t do well "I had a great base to train in Castlebar with my coach Marian English - I can’t thank her enough Then I moved to Edinburgh and everything moved a step up when I went over The University of Edinburgh team over there is set up like a high performance team We’ve got our own strength and conditioning coaches and all the support you could ask for I guess all the resources were there then to help me be the best that I could be." Nicholas Quinn isn't deterred by the negative press surrounding the Rio Olympics Quinn achieved qualification for the Olympics back in April after claiming gold in the claimed gold at the Eindhoven Swim Cup but Quinn explains that the real preparation began years before this "I always knew that I’d finish college roughly around 2016 so I was going to keep swimming until then If I was in a position to qualify then great Two years ago was when it really sunk in and that I was still improving I thought I wasn’t too far away from being there "From two years ago everything was kind of set up to qualify I knew around April or March 2016 was the time I would have to target to try and qualify "At European Championships two years ago I tried to get myself as fast as I could so I could keep chipping away at the time This way in 2016 I wouldn’t have a big massive jump to make to qualify Every year I tried to chip away at my time and get a new PB so I could put myself within a reachable distance come 2016 Thankfully in April I was able to make that push down to the time that I needed qualify "The reason I chose April as well was because it was a big enough time between now and the Olympics to get a big block of training in This way I can make more improvements and try swim faster."
