(“Bathurst” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce additional
highly anomalous soil assay results from the late fall fieldwork on the Peerless Gold Project
The purpose of the infill soil sampling program was to better define known gold and multi-element geochemical trends
These identified trends mainly occur along structural contacts between thrust
listwanite-altered ultramafics into volcanoclastic and sedimentary country rocks
Higher and more extensive gold soil values arise in settings where crosscutting brittle-ductile structures intercept the earlier brittle thrust faults
These settings are one of the most important features in gold deposition within the entire Goldbridge Mining Camp and are proven to occur in several areas on the Peerless Property
Bathurst will be doubling the currently permitted diamond drilling area to cover these new targets
Similar lithological and structural setting to the Bralorne Mining Camp
Anomalous soil geochemistry close to listwanite-altered ultramafics
Higher and more extensive gold in soil values where brittle-ductile structures cross-cut earlier brittle thrust faults
Significant gold mineralization occurs within ultramafics
Ultramafics are typically a poor host for gold deposits; however
the company encountered potential economic gold grades in February 2024 from diamond drill hole PR24-004
which returned 6.3 grams/tonne of gold over 5.1 metres
The drilling permit must be expanded to cover these newly defined areas for drill testing
“Based on our successful drilling program in February 2024
coupled with the detailed fall 2024 infill soil sampling program
the company continues to better understand and define the controls to high-grade gold mineralization and has increased significantly the areas requiring drill testing for the first time.”
The Peerless Property is situated in the historic Bralorne-Gold Bridge Mining Camp area in southwest British Columbia (Figure # 1)
It has excellent all-season access to its center
Access can be had by following Highway 40 east from the hamlet of Gold Bridge 10.5 km to the Tyaughton Lake turn-off and following the Tyaughton Lake access road within 200m of the Peerless showings at the center of the property
the Peerless Claims are near known mining occurrences and new discoveries found in the same lithological and structural geological settings
infers a strong special relationship to the thrusts related to the ultramafics with a northeast trend
Figure # 3 is a compilation map presenting the excellent road access
known gold occurrences as well as the results of a detailed soil sampling program
The gold-in soil geochemical anomalies are extending over 2 kilometres in length and indicate two trends related to potential structural controls to gold mineralization
The dominate trend to the anomalous gold-in soil geochemistry is north-east
reflecting the trend of the inferred thrusts faults bounding ultramafics
These new soil results have provided clear evidence of several gold bearing
The 2024 diamond drilling program tested one of these structural intersections in Diamond Drill hole PR24-004

Should a large portion of Bathurst Street have priority lanes for TTC buses and streetcars
That’s the central question of a public consultation process being carried out by City of Toronto staff
as part of the broader City of Toronto ‘RapidTO’ initiative
said they are studying a 7.5-kilometre corridor on Bathurst Street between Eglinton Avenue West and Lake Shore Boulevard West
“Tens of thousands of people rely on buses and streetcars along this key route every day, but traffic congestion slows service down,” a public consultation website stated
noting the TTC’s 7 Bathurst and 511 Bathurst routes serve more than 35,000 riders every weekday
“Buses and streetcars on Bathurst Street take 75 per cent longer than the average vehicle travel time and only 61 to 81 per cent of buses and streetcars arrive on time.”
Between Eglinton Avenue West and Bloor Street West on Bathurst Street
the proposed concept calls for converting the northbound and southbound curb lanes into red-painted priority lanes for TTC buses
For sections of Bathurst Street between Bloor Street West and College Street as well as between Dundas Street West and Lake Shore Boulevard West
the proposed concept calls for converting the centre northbound and southbound lanes into red-painted priority lanes for TTC streetcars
Wheel-Trans vehicles and emergency vehicles
The priority lanes wouldn’t be in effect between College Street and Dundas Street West due to the proximity of Toronto Western Hospital
officials noted all on-street parking in the affected sections is “being considered for removal.” That would mean the loss of nearly 480 Green P on-street paid spots plus an unspecified number of one-hour and unsigned spaces
They noted accessible parking spots currently in place would remain
Officials also said they’re looking at removing four mid-block TTC bus stops on Bathurst Street
When it comes to assisting with traffic flow at major intersections
City of Toronto staff said they’re looking at new or extended turn restrictions as well as advanced left-turn signals
According to the City’s website, there will be a virtual public meeting on May 12 between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. (registration is required)
drop-in sessions will be held on May 10 between 11 a.m
at the gymnasium of Harbord Collegiate Institute (Portuguese
Cantonese and Mandarin translators will also be present) and on May 14 between 4:30 and 8:30 p.m
at the gymnasium of Humewood Community School
officials said a survey being released will be open until May 26
Lawrence Avenue East and Steeles Avenue East
Parts of Eglinton Avenue East, Kingston Road and Morningside Avenue in Scarborough saw transit-priority lanes installed in 2020
With lanes added on around nine kilometres of roads
City of Toronto staff said morning transit commute times dropped up to six minutes (depending on the comparison period used) and afternoon transit commute times dropped by up to five minutes
A report also noted the reliability of buses on four routes that used the lanes improved by an average of 10 per cent
We’re considering dedicated bus & streetcar lanes on Bathurst to ease congestion and improve TTC service
Your feedback will help keep Toronto moving

The office at 161 Main St. reopened Friday morning after more than a week.
When the office first closed, SNB communications director Jennifer Vienneau said it was due to a strong sewage odour in the building. She said those issues were addressed and the centre reopened, but within a day the smell reappeared and the office closed again.
Vienneau said air quality tests were conducted and monitors installed.
“The building was closed for the safety of staff and our clients.”
Kristina Couture-Lebeau said she had to get some affairs in order following the death of a family member and, due to the office closure, had to drive an hour north to get the paperwork completed.
“We had to drive to Dalhousie to get it done after hitting our nose on the door in Bathurst,” she said. “The service in Dalhousie was great but it was unfortunate timing due to handling the death of a loved one.”
Resident Dee Dee Roy, who worked in the building for years, said there’s been a foul smell there for as long as she can remember.
“Even though it is inconvenient for the customers, I’m happy that they are finally doing something about the air problem,” she said.
Resident Lynne Frigault wondered why the province didn’t see this coming and make proper arrangements.
“This air quality problem didn’t happen overnight so I’m sure there was enough time to set up a temporary office somewhere,” Lynne Frigault said. “There is plenty of available office space in our city. If the people from government offices can work from home remotely, I’m sure some services could have been completed from a temporary location to save everyone having to travel.”

Bathurst Mayor Kim Chamberlain expects the team will be welcomed to its new city with open arms.
“Bathurst will continue to be the home of elite junior hockey,” she said. “I have no doubt the fans will welcome and encourage this team like it has for the last number of years.”
She said the city will be entering into agreements with the team similar to that of the Titan but did not specify the details of the contract.
Shannon noted the organization has a number of owners and expects others from the Chaleur area to get on board.
The Red Wings, owned by Global Centre Ice Inc., currently sit sixth in the MHL’s EastLink North Division with a record of 12-36-3 and did not make the playoffs.
The Wings moved to Fredericton for the 2019-2020 season from St. Stephen, where they started as an expansion team in 2014.
Titan owners announced on Dec. 20 that the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League’s northern New Brunswick team had been sold and would be moving east ahead of next season. It will now be known as the Newfoundland Regiment.
The Titan moved to Bathurst in 1998 where it won the league championship in its first season in Chaleur.
The team made it to the league playoff final in 2001 and 2002 but not again until 2018 where it won the President’s Cup, as well as the national championship Memorial Cup.

Toronto-based ONE Development has made its 736 Bathurst project available for purchase
opening the door for a new partner to join the project or take over the project altogether
The project is set for 736 Bathurst Street
half a block south from Bloor Street West and the Mirvish Village mixed-use project (formerly Honest Ed's) developed by the Vancouver-based team of Westbank and Peterson
The property is currently occupied by the Randolph Theatre
a 518-seat theatre formerly known as the Bathurst Street Theatre that's housed in a former Gothic revival church
ONE Development was planning a 49-storey tower with approximately 650 units
with a potential gross floor area (GFA) of around 537,000 sq
Listed alongside 736 Bathurst Street is also 555
three single-family homes fronting Markham Street that share a rear lane with 736 Bathurst Street
and 568 Markham Street are not included in the land assembly
One Development has envisioned the Markham Street properties as a second phase of the project
with the potential for a high-rise tower of its own that could accommodate approximately 350 units and a GFA of around 300,000 sq
The properties were recently listed without an asking price by CBRE Toronto's National Investment Team
who also note that the property is currently unentitled
meaning no project approvals have been secured
"Preliminary architectural plans for 736 Bathurst have been created by BDP Quadrangle for 537,000 sq
based on a planning opinion from WND Associates
and heritage preservation opinion from ERA Architects," said CBRE in its listing
"Provincial policy advancements support the anticipated density for the Project as it sits on three PMTSAs (Bathurst
Christie and Spadina Subway Stations)."
The Randolph Theatre at 736 Bathurst Street in Toronto
CBRE also notes the Annex neighbourhood's strong condominium market as key to the property's potential
"The Bloor West corridor features strong condominium absorption rates and some of the City's highest sale prices with recent launches in comparable nodes achieving +$1,500 per sq
with pricing for premium projects exceeding $2,000 per sq
there are 63 proposed condominium projects in the Toronto West
Downtown West and Annex submarkets totalling 13,374 units."
ONE Development CEO Jeff O'Brien told STOREYS that the decision to seek out a partner or sell the project outright is true to their nature
"ONE Development's expertise has always been focused on the earlier stages of the development process," said O'Brien in an email
"Historically we have worked on targeting and acquiring sites
and some or all of the site's assembly and rezoning
Once we believe we have provided sufficient value in that respect
or partner on the sales and construction with another developer who has more expertise in completing those phases."
The current bid submission deadline for the Bathurst and Markham Street property is Monday, September 30.
The Service New Brunswick office in Bathurst is again closed until further notice
The office at 161 Main St. downtown was closed for the third time in a month on Nov. 22 after poor air quality sent some staff home feeling ill, spokesperson Clarissa Andersen confirmed.
“WorkSafeNB has been informed of the situation and the office will remain closed until expert advice can be sought on how to best mitigate the ongoing air quality issue,” she said in an email.
The office first closed on Oct. 11 at noon due to a strong sewage odour in the building. On Oct. 16, SNB said those issues had been addressed and the centre re-opened the same morning. But within a day, the smell returned and forced the office to closed until Oct. 25.
In the three weeks since, the odour has returned, sending staff home and leaving customers little option but to travel to the nearest offices in either Dalhousie, Miramichi, Caraquet or Tracadie.
“Approximately a dozen employees felt ill,” Andersen said. “Employees have been reassigned and the majority will work at other service centres.”
As for the ongoing air-quality issue, she said the department is waiting on the building’s owner for an answer, but said there’s a chance the office may relocate.
“The owner of the building has implemented several mitigation measures. An air-quality expert will be assessing the building and help determine next steps based on their findings. Depending on how much time may be needed to implement further measures, SNB will consider opening a temporary location.”
Andersen said most services are available online or via TeleServices at 1-888-762-8600 and that driver’s license testing will continue at an alternate site in Bathurst.
She was not sure how long the most recent closure might last.

The replacement of a century-old water main and streetcar tracks at the foot of Bathurst Street will force a diversion of two TTC routes for the next four months
the City plans to begin work on replacing a 105-year-old water main at Bathurst Street and Lake Shore Boulevard West
the TTC will take advantage of that work to replace streetcar tracks in the area which will impact both the 509 Harbourfront and 511 Bathurst routes
the 511 Bathurst streetcars will run from Bathurst Station to King Street West at Spadina Avenue
Transit users wanting to go further south will need to take the 511B replacement buses that will run from Queen Street West down to the Exhibition Loop
the 509 Harbourfront streetcars will run between Union Station and Spadina Avenue only until March 29
Commuters can then transfer to the 509B replacement bus which goes all the way to Exhibition Loop
the 509 streetcar will be suspended until June 21
Commuters are asked to take the 510A Spadina streetcar to travel between Union Station and Spadina Avenue
specifically during the new rail installation to preserve the integrity and quality of the new rail and concrete
“We appreciate that construction and route diversions can be challenging
and we are making every effort to ensure that customers are aware of the upcoming diversions
as well as know how to use alternate routes to get to their destinations,” TTC CEO Greg Percy said in a statement
Drivers will also be impacted by the construction work with Bathurst Street reduced to one lane in each direction between Fort York Boulevard and Lake Shore Boulevard from February 18 to March 3
Bathurst will then be closed to southbound traffic between Housey Street and Lake Shore Boulevard from March 3 to mid-April
City officials say the work will take place in phases in an effort to keep traffic moving and avoid a full closure of the Bathurst-Lake Shore intersection
Construction is expected to be completed by the end of June

(the "Company" or "Magna Terra") (TSXV:MTT) is pleased to announce that it has acquired a significant and strategic exploration land package - the Rocky Brook Project ("Rocky Brook" or the "Project")
located in the prolific Bathurst Mining Camp of northern New Brunswick via two separate option agreements
The Rocky Brook Project comprises approximately 10,500 hectares in 33 mineral claims
located adjacent to and along strike from the Williams Brook Project
owned by Kinross Gold Corporation ("Kinross") and Puma Exploration Inc
where a zone of high-grade gold mineralization was discovered over broad widths including drill intervals up to 5.55 g/t Au over 50.15 m
The Project is located adjacent to a 30-kilometre-long section of the Rocky Brook-Millstream fault and associated McIntyre and Ramsay Brook faults; an important structural zone controlling gold mineralization within the region (Figure 1)
The Project also covers a zone of mafic volcanics and sedimentary rocks that show strong potential to host Cu-Co mineralization
adjacent to the past-producing Caribou Mine and the Murray Brook Deposit
Recent work by prospector Tim Lavoie in 2023 led to the discovery of gold mineralization at the Fournier Lake prospect with rock outcrop samples* over a 400 m area assaying up to 5.23 g/t Au (Figure 1)
Previous work has led to the discovery of high-grade copper and cobalt at the Fossil Hill prospect with grab samples* from trenches assaying up to 16.65% Cu and 0.64% Co
and high-grade copper at the Boudreau Brook prospect assaying up to 3% Cu (Figure 1)
(* Grab samples are selective by nature and may not represent the true metal content of the mineralized zone.)
The Project covers a 30-kilometre extent of the Rocky Brook-Millstream Fault system;
Strategically positioned along strike from Kinross-Puma's Lynx Zone gold discovery and adjacent to the past-producing Caribou Mine and Murray Brook base metal deposits;
Recent discovery in 2023 of high-grade gold assays from grab samples assaying up to 5.23 g/t Au over a 400 m area at Fournier Lake;
Previous work at the Fossil Hill Zone has discovered high-grade copper-cobalt mineralization with grab samples assying up to 16.65% Cu and 0.64% Co;
Previous work at the Boudreau Brook prospect has discovered copper mineralization assaying up to 3% Cu;
Located within the prolific Bathurst Mining Camp and top-tier mining jurisdiction of New Brunswick; and
Year-round accessibility with road access to the majority of the Project
"We are very pleased to make this strategic acquisition in the prolific Bathurst Mining Camp in northern New Brunswick
The optioning of the Rocky Brook Project aligns with Magna Terra's strategy of acquiring low-cost
high-upside exploration projects and gives the Company and its shareholders exposure to an emerging gold district
as well as a foothold in a world-class base - critical metals camp
The recent discovery of high-grade gold at the Lynx Zone by Puma and subsequent recent strategic investment by Kinross to advance the Williams Brook Project
highlights the growing importance of this area for gold prospectivity
the recent announcement by Canadian Copper to acquire the Caribou Mine and Mill provides a catalyst for renewed critical metals exploration within this historic mining camp
This acquisition dovetails well with our forward-looking strategy and our technical expertise in Atlantic Canada
and is supported by Michael Gentile who has recently taken a significant ownership interest in the Company (refer to the press release dated December 4
We will continue to look at all opportunities to add value and optionality for Magna Terra shareholders and enhance our portfolio of quality
We look forward in 2025 to following-up on the recent gold discoveries at Fournier Lake and the high-grade copper-cobalt mineralization at Fossil Hill and Boudreau Brook." ~ Lew Lawrick
The Fournier Lake gold occurrences sit adjacent to and to the south of the Rocky Brook-Millstream Fault Zone and transected by the McCormack Brook and McIntrye Brook faults; along or near that same fault systems that host the nearby Lynx Zone and Jonpol prospects (Figure 1)
The Property is underlain by Silurian sedimentary rocks of the Petit Rocher Group
siltstone and interbedded calcareous mudstone that are intruded by Devonian-aged Ramsay Brook gabbro (Wilson
The Fournier Lake occurrences were discovered in 2023 by prospector Tim Lavoie where rock outcrop samples* returned assays of 5.23 g/t Au
The Fournier Lake property is located to the north and east of several significant gold prospects highlighted by the adjacent Williams Brook Project where Kinross and Puma recently completed a joint venture agreement whereby Kinross can earn a 65% interest in the Williams Brook Project by spending $16,750,000 in exploration expenditures during a period of five (5) years (including a firm commitment of $2,000,000 with at least 5,000 metres of drilling during the first 18 months)
Kinross also completed a concurrent private placement of $1,011,473.47 by purchasing 9.9% of the issued and outstanding shares of Puma (refer to the Puma Exploration press release dated October 24
has been drilled by Puma over a strike length of 750 m
and remains open at depth and along strike
is hosted in quartz veins and breccias within rhyolite units at the contact with sedimentary rocks
Drilling has returned assays up to 5.55 g/t gold over 50.15 m (WB21-02)
historical diamond drilling returned 1.13 g/t Au over 12.0 m
The Fossil Hill and Boudreau Brook copper-cobalt occurrences are hosted within an area of complexly deformed and thrust faulted volcanic and sedimentary rocks to the south of the Ramsay Brook and Rocky Brook-Millstream Faults (Figure 1)
The property is underlain by mafic volcanic rocks and associated gabbro of the middle to late California Lake and Sormany groups that are overlain by Silurian conglomerate and sandstone of the Petit Rocher Group (Wilson
and high-grade copper at the Boudreau Brook prospect assaying up to 3% Cu
The Boudreau Brook and Fossil Hill occurrences sit approximately 5 kilometres to the north and northwest of the nearby Murray Brook Deposit and Caribou Mines in an area that has not received as much exploration as these more developed deposits
The Murray Brook Deposit hosts a Measured & Indicated mineral resource of21.1 Mt grading 2.49% Zn
and 38.6 g/t Ag (1.41% CuEq or 4.77% ZnEq)(NI43-101 technical report by Stone et al.
The nearby Caribou Mine and Mill has been in production intermittently since its discovery
with most recent mining by Trevali Mining Corporation from 2015 to 2022 and is currently on care and maintenance
The Caribou Complex currently hosts a 3,000 tonne per day SAG (semi-autogenous grinding) mill
is currently in the process of acquiring the Caribou Complex with plans to mine and process the ore from their 100% owned Murray Brook Deposit at Caribou
The Bathurst Mining Camp is one of the world's oldest base metal (lead
gold and silver) mining districts hosting one of Canada's largest volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) deposits
The Bathurst Mining camp is host to over 46 mineral deposits
A total of 136,643,367 tonnes of ore grading 3.44% Pb
and 102.2 g/t Ag were mined from the Bathurst Mining Camp (McCutcheon and Walker
The Company has acquired the Rocky Brook Project from Prospect Or Corp.
under two option agreements dated December 16

Daily weekday Pascan flights from Bathurst to Saint John launched in September have already been grounded due to lack of interest
Pascan says that with so few people taking advantage of the twice-daily weekday flights – an average of 1.65 people per 30-seat plane – there was little choice but to cancel the route, at least for the short term.
“While we are encouraged by the response and growth on the Saint John-Halifax route, we have seen very little interest from the flying public in the Bathurst route so far,” Pascan President and CEO Julian Robert said in an emailed statement Thursday. “We would love to continue the service to Bathurst; we will continue to work with the airport authority and region and hope to return to the north in the spring should the demand be there.”
The 45-minute flights were launched on Sept. 9.
The planes, which can carry up to 30 passengers, had left Bathurst at 8 a.m. with a quick touchdown in Saint John before continuing on to Halifax.
With the departure of Pascan flights, Bathurst Regional Airport now has Air Canada as its sole commercial provider, offering flights to Montreal every Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
In a brief statement, the city said it is “aware of the present situation,” but offered no more information.
Brunswick News reached out to airport board president Alain Guitard but did not hear back.
A crucial chapter in the history of the Cape Breton Eagles franchise comes to an end tonight in Sydney
the Eagles will play host to the Acadie-Bathurst Titan
the eighth and final game of the season series between the two teams
and bringing an end to 27 years of major junior hockey in northern New Brunswick
particularly in the early days of the franchise
Cape Breton & Bathurst engaged in many memorable battles
with the Titan challenging the Halfiax Mooseheads for the title as the Eagles’ chief rivals
there were many memorable physical incidents between the two sides; goaltender fights such as Marc-André Fleury vs Adam Russo & Martin Houle vs Fabio Luongo
or Eagles enforcer George Davis jumping into the Bathurst bench on a snowy February night in front of a national television audience
But the play between the whistles provided many memories as well
the Eagles & Titan clashed three times in the playoffs
most notably a Dillio Conference Final between star-studded teams in 2002 with an Eagles team featuring Fleury
and JP Cote against a Titan team with the likes of Russo
winning the series as they would again in 2006
the Eagles finally caught Bathurst in the post-season
winning in five games in a second round showdown that will stand as the last playoff series between the teams- barring a playoff showdown this season
the two teams are battling for playoff positioning
as last night’s Eagles victory over the Titan pulled Cape Breton within four points of fourth place Bathurst
the final home ice position in the Eastern Conference
Alexis Cournoyer was excellent in the Eagles goal
stopping all 28 shots for his second shutout in three games
Cam Squires continued his torrid pace by collecting two assists
while Lewis Gendron scored for the third time in four games as a Cape Breton Eagle
Here’s what else you need to know ahead of tonight’s historic showdown at the Nest

2016 – The Victoriaville Tigers began their Maritimes road trip with a dual against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan
The game came down to the wire and finally saw the Tigers finally skate away with a one to nothing victory
After having left a very favorable impression at the Canadian Hockey League’s Top Prospects Game
Victoriaville forward Pascal Laberge continued his hot streak by scoring his 15th goal of the season in the final minutes of the third period
The feat was made all the more impressive as the Titan’s masked man
turning away shot after shot while maintaining his trademark calm and composure
there is little doubt that Pickard’s game has now reached a new summit
Olivier Tremblay picked up an 18 save shutout
while Marc Beckstead (VIC) and Guillaume Brisebois (BAT) were respectively named the game’s second and third stars
Even if he proved unable to light up the red lamp
Titan forward Jeffrey Viel once more left his mark on the game
firing one shot on net from the danger zone while adding five body checks
by far a game high for players on either team
Taking advantage of increased responsibilities
rookie forward Samuel L’Italien is beginning to prove that he is ready for a bigger role
the young center man was dominant in the face-off circle
Pickard has been on an incredible sequence
.1000 and .969 in five of his last six games
The Titan will be back in action tomorrow night
as Mario Pouliot’s men travel to Saint John for a match-up against the Sea Dogs
The Titan will then be back in front of their fans on Friday
as they play host to Julio Billia and the Chicoutimi Saguenéens
The total sum for the winning seat will be at $10,000 should attendance be at or above 2,500 fans

FREDERICTON — New Brunswick's Liberal leader is on the defensive for comments she made on a podcast months ago that her opponents charge make northern residents in the Bathurst area seem uneducated.
In January, Susan Holt told the True North Eager Beaver Podcast that the province is diverse and her party can't have one-size-fits-all policies. However, she said, there are certain issues on which her caucus must stay united "regardless of the price they might pay in their communities."
She was referring to a controversial change the Blaine Higgs government made to Policy 713 — rules around how transgender children can be referred to at school. In 2023 the Progressive Conservatives required teachers to get parental consent before they can use the preferred first names and pronouns of children under 16 — a policy that was criticized around the country but one that remains popular in the province, according to polling.
"I'm in urban Fredericton. It's a, you know, really progressive people here, highly educated … and my riding of Bathurst East-Nepisiguit-Saint-Isidore has (a) totally different makeup."
But when it comes to Policy 713, she said, "it was clear for everyone, regardless of the price they might pay in their communities, that the right thing to do is to defend vulnerable kids and to support children's rights."
The Progressive Conservatives seized on those comments, saying in a new campaign ad that the Liberal leader is accusing Bathurst residents of not being smart enough to see the problem with Higgs's policy on gender.
"The Liberal leader even said that the people of Bathurst, my hometown, lack education," Kim Chamberlain, the Tory candidate running for Bathurst, said in the advertisement in French.
On Tuesday, Holt defended her comments at a news conference, saying the people in the Bathurst area are "differently educated."
She noted the diversity of the region, including the various occupations people hold such as farming, fishing, mining and logging.
"It's one of the reasons I was really excited to go and represent (Bathurst), because of the diversity of people and the work they do and the way that they live," she said. Holt won that riding in a byelection in 2023 but is running in Fredericton South-Silverwood for the Oct. 21 election.
"You have folks who have PhDs, and you have folks who completed school before the end of high school. There's a real diversity in educational attainment of the folks up there, and there's a real diversity in what they learned from the school of hard knocks and being out on the land and on the water."
The Liberals have promised to reverse the changes to Policy 713 if elected, and permit teachers to use the preferred first names and pronouns of students without asking their parents for permission.
Meanwhile, the Green Party released its platform Wednesday, focusing on health care, housing, cost of living and climate change. "We have a plan, and it's backed up by the generational investment we need to make to save our health-care system,” said David Coon, leader of the Greens.
“Under a Green government, access to primary health care will become a right, just as access to public education is a right. No more waiting lists. Our election platform lays out our vision for the future of New Brunswick and provides a practical affordable road map to get there."
Higgs, who is running for a third term in office, was scheduled to visit a paper company in Edmundston for a photo opportunity.
