Savannah native Bakari Bryant, who won a state basketball title as a player at Savannah High in 1998 under Tim Jordan, and went on to coach a state championship squad at Jenkins, is returning home to take over the New Hampstead boys basketball program
where his squad lost to Johnson in the semis at Savannah State
He coached at Jenkins from 2011 through 2018 and led the Warriors to the Class 3A state crown in 2015
and to state runnerup finishes in 2016 and 2018
"I can tell you that was part of it — coming back home to coach in those games and having fans and fellow coaches coming up to me and saying 'We need you back,' " Bryant said
"I grew up in the Savannah basketball community and it helped make me into the man I am today — and to have that kind of support after I left meant a lot."
and everyone in the family thought it would be good to come home," Bryant said
"I admit I was frustrated at the end of my time at Jenkins and I felt like I need to move to Atlanta and spread my wings and grow professionally
This is going to be our last move — we hope to settle in until we retire
"I think New Hampstead is a gold mine with the talented athletes they have," Bryant said
I believe God takes me to the places I need to be
The job at Dougherty didn't end up working out
but I believe good people always land on their feet
I'm very excited to get started at New Hampstead
meet the kids and get going with summer basketball."
who went 13-16 in his one season at the helm of the Phoenix program
New Hampstead lost in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs this year
The Savannah basketball community is ready to embrace Bryant's return
I truly believe that — and Coach Jordan is a big part of that for me," Bryant said
I love coaching because I love people and it's my safe haven and I'm ready to get started."
Jordan said he is excited about having Bryant
and I don't know of anyone else who has won a state championship here as a player and then coached a championship team in Savannah
New Hampstead is a great school for basketball
and I think he's going to do a great job there."

Hampstead is a centrally located suburb of Montreal
the team takes care of parking enforcement themselves
With the increase of cars and parking spots
the town started to look for a solution to improve parking enforcement efficiency
the town used paper permits for parking enforcement
Residents had these paper permits for their on-street parking
This resulted in an efficiency rate of about 40%
The goal was to increase this efficiency rate to about 90%
Residents could park overnight without paying for parking
causing issues with permit enforcement and general frustration among locals
the town's coverage for parking permits was limited to about three-quarters of the area
Along with two Picopak mobile LPR cameras on top of a vehicle, Platenforce, Survision's LPR-based Parking Enforcement Solution was integrated with the town citizen web portal
where residents could purchase permits online
the cameras automatically scan license plates while the software checks the permits in real time
This transition eliminated the need for paper permits and significantly streamlined the enforcement process
the team can now read 400 plates in 2 hours
This means an upsurge in enforcement efficiency of 95%: The team can patrol the whole town two times a day and have extra time to check on parks and do security checks
which is very different from before LPR when they could only cover 3/4 of the area daily
The new system allows for enhanced enforcement since it makes it easier to identify cars without permits
preventing overnight parking without payment
Resource allocation is also more efficient now that agents have more time to ensure parking safety
Platenforce helped Hampstead Town employees be much more satisfied with their jobs

Hampstead Heath Ladies' Pond has failed to ban transgender women despite a landmark Supreme Court ruling that they are not legally recognised as female
which opened 100 years ago specifically for women and girls
has been at the centre of a heated debate over trans rights since the City of London Corporation implemented a self-ID policy in 2019
Gender-critical feminists have fought hard to "reclaim" the pond—the UK's only women-only natural bathing pool—but their efforts have met strong resistance from trans rights activists
On Wednesday, the City of London Corporation confirmed its self-ID policy would "remain in effect at this time" while reviewing the Supreme Court judgment's implications
Prominent barrister Sarah Vine KC slammed the decision
warning the corporation faces legal danger
"Any continued description of two of the ponds as 'men's' and 'ladies' will expose the Corporation to discrimination claims," she told The Telegraph
She stressed: "This is despite the fact that women's overall need for safety and privacy is generally higher than that of men."
a feminist activist banned from the Kenwood Ladies' Pond Association after protesting biological males' access
expressed no surprise at the authority's stance
"It doesn't surprise me in the slightest that the Corporation is trying to fudge this," she said

She added: "The ponds are stunningly beautiful and special to any woman who goes

The City of London Corporation rejected these accusations
stating: "These accusations are completely false
The City Corporation is compliant with existing UK law."

As part of her Eternal Sunshine Deluxe album
Ariana Grande has released a track titled “Hampstead.” This review focuses solely on this song
but I highly encourage you to check out the other tracks from the deluxe edition as well—they're great
“Hampstead” is a ballad with a modern touch
chorused quality—almost like it's from outer space
This unique sound blends seamlessly with the second half of the track
I won’t spoil it too much—you should really hear it for yourself
This song completely caught me off guard the first time I listened
I’m not used to hearing this kind of track from Ariana
But that’s part of what makes deluxe albums special—they give artists the space to be more experimental and showcase sides of themselves that might not have fit on the standard edition
that might just be the whole point of a deluxe version
As someone who loves FINNEAS and Billie Eilish
this track immediately reminded me of something FINNEAS could have produced—a piano ballad with bittersweet tones and raw
Ariana’s signature melodic choices and sound design add a unique
almost cinematic quality—nothing over-the-top
“Hampstead” is one of those songs that always feels too short
It’s so well-crafted that it becomes a kind of comfort
I don’t know if it was comforting for Ariana to create
and this deluxe edition only strengthens that feeling

Your guide to London's culture and transport news and events taking place across the city
Published on 2nd May 2025 by ianVisits in Transport News
Preliminary plans have been shown for what West Hampstead tube station could look like when it is eventually upgraded with step-free access
as part of a wider redevelopment of the area
The station is on the Jubilee line and has only a small entrance leading to steps down to an island platform
The entrance is too small for its current passenger numbers
and the station doesn’t have any step-free access
As it’s also very close to West Hampstead’s Overground and Thameslink stations
so the Jubilee line station’s current situation is an annoying barrier to easy interchange between the three services
There is an existing agreement to redevelop a large plot of land behind the tube station – the O2 Centre development
That will see the underused land that sits between West Hampstead and Finchley Road tube stations being redeveloped as a large housing estate
LandSec owns the O2 shopping centre on Finchley Road and most of the land behind it
which is mostly a large car park and some businesses
and they want to replace that with housing and a new shopping centre
Part of the approval requires a capacity upgrade at West Hampstead tube station
which will include step-free access and provision to be reserved for the same to be added later at Finchley Road tube station
Landsec providing £10 million towards upgrades at West Hampstead tube station and safeguarding land for a future although currently unfunded, step-free entrance for Finchley Road station
Since then, Transport for London (TfL) has been working on detailed design plans for adding step-free access to West Hampstead tube station
another property developer has proposed replacing a strip of light-industrial buildings along the side of West Hampstead station with a mix of residential and student accommodation
The property developer has to align their new development with the redevelopment of the tube station
so their planning application includes some early concept images of what the upgraded tube station could look like
The plans are to remove the old shops on the corner plot and create a new public square with more space for an enlarged entrance into the tube station
As the pavement is quite narrow in the area
it would considerably improve the local street environment
and TfL is still working on its final designs
which will then need to be subject to planning approval

every additional support goes a long way to covering the running costs of this website
and keeping you regularly topped up doses of Londony news and facts
If you like what you read on here, then please support the website here
I hope the plan also includes making the platform height the same as for Jubilee trains and not the Met trains that came here first
The Met platforms were demolished before the current island platform was built for the Bakerloo Line extension
They need to bore a tunnel between Underground and Overground
so you don’t have to go up or down or cross a busy street; but I suppose this would obviate the exciting prospect of pulling down old shops
How would the tunnel get between the two stations without you doing down to the tunnel at one end and up at the other
all three stations are very much below street level
so it would make sense to be able to interchange at platform level without taking a lift
There are railway tracks between the stations — how do get past them withouth going down to get under them or up to get over them
Some 20 years ago Chiltern were keen on a proposal to create a substantial rail hub at West Hampstead
properly integrating the 3 stations and adding platforms on the Chiltern lines
This would have been transformational for travel on all the routes concerned and would have provided an integrated vision for the development of the area
Unfortunately UK planning rules don’t favour big integrated visions
because they become rallying points for opposing NIMBYs
So whilst the local opposition to Chiltern’s plan was understandable in context
it couldn’t prevent the subsequent incremental hotch-potch of high density residential developments which has ultimately led to a worse outcome (IMO) in terms of built environment and no meaningful integration of the rail stations whatsoever
West Hampstead is never going to be an interchange experience they’ll want to navigate
I remember going to the Chiltern presentation at the hall at the WH synagogue
Glenda Jackson opened it and then swiftly left to attend a “vote in the House”
It was perhaps an indication of the likelihood of anything ever happening
The proposal was huge involved the O2 site and the shops/flats at Costa/Starbucks
and direct links to all three stations together with the Marylebone main line (hence Chiltern) and the Met
One poor bloke who lived in the said flats complained that the development would blight his flat and there was much mirth when it was pointed out that he shouldn’t worry as his flat was going to be knocked down anyway
Once the Chiltern bloke starting talking about billions in government support and extensive compulsory purchase and years of building works half the meeting got bolshie not wanting WH turned into a mini KX and the other half decided they were witnessing a grand exercise in “crayonista” – ie visionary plans with no basis in reality
At least the old station building is being retained
I’d have preferred a brick built extension
that fully integrates with the original building
While Landsec owns the biggest parcel of the land needed for their very high and dense development
especially at the West Hampstead end (TfL already owns a small ransom strip in Blackburn road
local business “Builder Depot” owns the section nearest the station
I wonder if Landsec and BD have come to terms as part of the latest plans (I haven’t yet read the latest plans to check)
or whether all the lands will need compulsory purchase
What would further help the area is semi pedestrianisation/mini Holland style roads between the stations
it is unfortunately a busy through route that would be difficult to reroute but the traffic could be calmed and improve pedestrian/cycle priority

Occasional rain tapering to a few showers late
Hampstead Mayor Jeremy Levi and members of town council vowed that they would investigate allegations of harassment of a town employee
CSL resident Jeremy Biskin told the recent Hampstead council meeting that he was employed by the town
I witnessed multiple instances of discrimination
verbal harassment and verbal abuse,” he said
“This has created an extremely hostile environment for working
There are various unsafe working conditions that are not being addressed
Levi said action would be taken immediately
“I’m completely stunned by what you just said
you can be sure I will be meeting with the director-general to discuss what you’ve said
I can assure you that it will be thoroughly investigated.”
Biskin claimed that every Hampstead director is aware of what is taking place
“Council will take this extremely seriously,” Levi said
The Mayor later said there was a resolution in October regarding an investigation into psychological harassment
he worked in the urban planning department and he was made to do tasks with which he was uncomfortable
I had colleagues who were not at work that day and they told me to do the job
to work in the front in the reception area
I had no idea what to do for the residents when they asked me things.”
Biskin also made us aware of communications from other employees
one addressed to a union and the town alleging workplace harm and abuse
negligence and psychological harassment; and another alleging a toxic and unhealthy work environment
Levi said he could not say much publicly about the general allegations
because the matter involves human resources
“both of those cases were related and it was concluded that the complainants did not suffer psychological harassment.” n

the Kenwood Ladies’ Pond on Hampstead Heath has been a serene swimming space and cherished refuge for women and girls
finding acceptance and solace in the tranquil surroundings
Women’s-only spaces like the Ladies’ Pond offer a community free from judgement and free from threat
They are so wonderful because they offer a community free from men
But in 2017, the City of London (CoL) announced that transwomen would be allowed into the Ladies’ Pond and changing spaces. Women objected, some self-excluded, and activists stormed the Men’s Pond
they were peacefully removed and a police officer explained
“You can’t enter a facility for the opposite sex.”
women were not being afforded the same rights as men to privacy
Their embarrassment and anger at male intrusion was ignored
The Kenwood Ladies’ Pond Association (KLPA) have staunchly supported the CoL
despite acknowledging the Ladies’ Pond is a haven for women and the vulnerable among them
is “a women-only space that is NOT open to men.” But in April this year
the fabulous For Women Scotland won a unanimous U.K
Supreme Court ruling that “sex,” “man” and “woman” in this Act refer to biological sex
plans to retain its policy to permit some males into the Ladies’ Pond while they consider the ruling
It is unclear how much consideration is required
Providers can no longer promise “women-only” spaces that include some males
Such spaces should be clearly described as mixed-sex
And including some but not all males in a mixed-sex space risks legal issues
Third and mixed-sex spaces are being recommended and
some providers may need time to adjust facilities to meet legal duties
is well-positioned to simply bar transwomen from the Ladies’ Pond
Venice Allen, a frequent Pond user and ex-KLPA member expelled for opposing male access
has campaigned tirelessly to restore the Ladies’ Pond as a female-only status
Emma Hilton is a Biologist at the University of Manchester and a Trustee of Sex Matters
Four years ago, when I lived on the Gospel Oak side of Hampstead Heath, I used to swim in the Ladies' Pond once a week. I saw plenty of things during my time at the ponds: boobs, genitals, famous people, ducks, body hair, people with one boob, people with no boobs, the odd crayfish, more ducks. What I never saw, once, was someone making other people uncomfortable due to their perceived gender
There are unwritten rules and codes of conduct that mean everyone behaves as they should
I’m sure they’d be ejected by the brilliant-yet-firm lifeguards who police the ponds within a moment’s notice
This is why the debate over trans women’s rights to attend the ladies' pond is so preposterous
It’s been reignited by the recent Supreme Court ruling that defined a woman as someone who was assigned female at birth
Trans women have been allowed to swim at the Hampstead Ladies’ Pond under formal guidance that was approved by the local swimmers’ association since 2019
certain swimmers at the ponds are preparing for an “occupation” to try and get trans women banned from the Ladies’ Pond
Brown family ‘vindicated’ after court orders Government to set up public inquiry
Robert De Niro expresses ‘love and support’ for transgender daughter
Hampstead Ladies' Pond faces backlash for failing to ban trans women
How Give Your Best aims to solve clothing poverty in the UK
Not only does this go against the entire spirit of the ponds, which have long been a queer-friendly, accepting space for all people of all bodies, but they also go against the spirit of London
Any proposed “rule” on which women should be allowed in will be murkier than the ponds themselves
Unless there is a security guard checking people’s genitals at the gate
If it’s based on people’s outwards appearance
that risks isolating those who don’t look “feminine” enough
It risks discrimination against butch lesbians
Every woman has the potential of being hurt by this kind of rule
whereas no women have been hurt by a “fake trans woman” infiltrating the ponds to sexually assault them
now I remember someone making other people uncomfortable when I used to swim at the ponds: it was the women who spoke loudly against trans rights while other swimmers were simply trying to enjoy their laps
The same women who would have boasted proudly about the inclusive
There is no threat to the ponds other than these attitudes disrupting their good-hearted nature

Hampstead Theatre is working with Camden Council
Wac Arts and the Winch to give people from London’s ‘loneliest borough’ the chance to combat isolation through making
According to research published in Camden’s State of the Borough Report in 2024 more than a third of adults in Camden said they feel lonely some of the time
At 36.3%* the figure is the highest of all the London boroughs
Hampstead Theatre has launched a new theatre-based participatory programme for adults who are at risk of loneliness and social isolation
The programme includes regular Community Nights which offer a relaxed space for groups to engage with the theatre through tours
Hampstead Theatre’s Participation Director
“We’ve been working hand-in-hand with organisations such as Age UK Camden
the Winch and Wac Arts to find a way to bring local people and communities together to combat social isolation and loneliness
both of which can have a significant impact on people’s wellbeing
we’ve welcomed 350 people to take part in writing and performance sessions or to see a show at the theatre and have seen first-hand the hugely positive effect that creativity and making connections can have on individuals and communities.”
“I’m delighted to see the impact of Hampstead Theatre’s community participation work on our local area
It’s brought together individuals from diverse backgrounds to work with dedicated professionals
fostering a sense of community and creativity
The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and I’m proud to have supported this initiative
I look forward to seeing its continued growth and success.”
“Belsize Councillors were delighted to support Hampstead Theatre’s Participation team with their latest community-based projects
and I’m sure the impacts will be far-reaching for them themselves
These projects also demonstrated the wide value of our local theatre
and the power of the community activity undertaken by a very small but hugely imaginative team.”
The collaboration with Age UK Camden has so far seen playwright Martha Watson-Allpress and a group of older people write a play about their experiences of ageing while challenging common stereotypes
Their work was brought to life by a cast of professional actors at Hampstead Theatre
at the Winch - a local charity that supports families and young people – artist Yasmin Dawes and a group of women at risk of homelessness created a play called Seeds of Joy
Performing in front of an audience for the first time was a significant achievement for all of them
will explore how theatre can help build positive relationships between generations by bringing together younger and older people to form a creative writing group
Hampstead theatre’s participation programme complements its other work with new and established writers through its INSPIRE mentorship programme and the work it produces across its two stages
Later this year a new course for local first-time directors will be launched by the theatre in recognition of the current gap in director training opportunities
Hampstead Theatre’s participation programme is supported by Camden Council
Further details on the projects can be found at hampsteadtheatre.com

A thorough independent investigation has found that no psychological harassment took place against any town employee
Mayor Jeremy Levi announced at the March 4 council meeting
"the investigation did not result in any recommendations
as the town already has strong procedures in place to ensure a professional
The well-being of our employees is of the utmost importance
The conclusions of this independent investigation reinforce our confidence in the strength of our existing policies and our unwavering commitment to fostering a workplace rooted in integrity
fairness and mutual respect....Employees are always encouraged to share their concerns through internal channels."
and allegations emerged into the public sphere
when CSL resident and former Hampstead employee Jeremy Biskin told council late last year that "during my time in Hampstead
(She also sang to bullies/the media on “we can’t be friends,” but in a gentler
more subtle/metaphorical way.) With these “Hampstead” lyrics
she’s essentially saying: You people need to shut the fuck up and get your own lives
you’re still wrong about everything,” she croons to her critics
your seat’s nowhere near the table.” Ariana quips
“But I find something sweet in your peculiar behavior / ‘Cause I think to be so dumb must be nice.” It’s giving “shut up” from Sweetener and I’m obsessed
Ari asks a profound question: “What’s wrong with a little bit of poison?” She says she’d “rather feel everything than nothing every time.” It’s a beautiful sentiment — she’s like yeah
but I’d rather follow my heart and have all these intense emotions than play it safe and feel numb
I have to assume “Past Life” was inspired by Dalton and the end of that marriage
“Always wondered what would happen if I let you lose me,” Ariana sings in the chorus
“Always wondered what would happen if I let myself need more.” In multiple Eternal Sunshine tracks
she seemingly reflects on the growing distance between her and Dalton
she’s come to terms with the fact that her ex just wasn’t giving her enough
“Might fuck around and elevate my expectations / Now I’m fine to leave you in a past life.” Evidently
I think there’s also a reference to a Positions track in this song
In the second verse of “Past Life,” Ari sings
“I used to think you were the medicine / But you were just code blue.” I was reminded of “Love Language” when she says: “You’re the medication when I’m feeling anxious.” We love a callback.

Quinn McGowen Funeral Home of Wilmington is serving the family
designed by Pinzauer and titled Maresfield Gardens
is a London home blending new design and traditional details
Nestled in leafy north London
this Hampstead house preserves its historical architectural features while inviting light and blending in contemporary touches
was created by architecture studio Pinzauer
who gave the project an interior facelift and a new extension
The home used to be the former Anna Freud Centre
a large detached Victorian townhouse within the Fitzjohns/Netherhall Conservation Area
Part of it contains a new studio space at the rear of the garden
looking over the greenery and the original house
‘The historic context and surrounding landscape were key inspirations for us,’ shares the London-based design studio
the opportunity to design a structure that would both complement the character of the 19th-century townhouse and introduce strong contemporary spaces.'
'The new spaces were designed to enhance the spatial quality of the existing building whilst taking full advantage of the abundant gardens around it
This led to the idea of “a pavilion in the park”
with Sol LeWitt’s Structures being a close conceptual reference for us.’
At the core of the new extension is an exposed concrete staircase which takes visitors through its two levels
the building's revamped layout echoes the original plans and preserves the intricate architectural features of the historic townhouse
extending a 19th-century townhouse did pose a few challenges
‘The precision required by the new structure often clashed with the imprecision of the existing building
demanding careful coordination and patience from the client
design team and contractor,’ explained the studio
The lower floors extend towards the garden with an open
its minimalist colonnade facade design allowing in a flood of natural light
is an intimate space at the end of the garden
This fluidity between the indoors and outdoors is exactly what Pinzauer wanted to achieve
as the architects explain: ‘We would like residents to feel a distinct connection to the outdoor spaces whilst sensing the thoughtful balance between the new and old elements of the building.’
escapism and design stories from around the world direct to your inbox
the design highlight for them would be the captivating spiral staircase
‘The spiral staircase stands out as a particular highlight
It was a detail that felt like a small victory; despite the technical challenges it presented
the final sculptural quality of the staircase is a testament to the client’s belief in our design idea and their confidence in seeing it through.'

Ariana Grande *finally* dropped eternal sunshine deluxe: brighter days ahead, and it’s even better than I expected! After announcing the album alongside a short film, fans have been anxiously awaiting new music from the singer
This release added six bonus tracks to Eternal Sunshine
which Ari originally dropped in March 2024
Grande is known for sneaking tidbits of reflection about her life into her songs
and it seems she did just this in her track “Hampstead.”
“Hampstead” is the last song on the deluxe album and makes references to Grande’s 2020 track “pov,” which has many fans wondering if this new song is about her ex-husband Dalton Gomez as “pov” references the couple falling in love
Throughout “Hampstead” Grande is heard singing
“I’d rather be seen and alive than dying by your point of view
’cause nobody ever loved me like you do
I’d love to see me from your point of view.” Talk about a complete 180
“Hampstead” and the repeated “I do’s” seem to be a nod to Grande’s wedding vows to Gomez. This, along with the fact that Grande and Gomez were seen in Hampstead before their divorce
has some fans certain this song is about the end of their marriage

However, many are also speculating that this song is about the public. After Grande’s divorce from Gomez, the star began a romance with her Wicked co-star Ethan Slater, which was met with a lot of public scrutiny
People are thinking that these point-of-view lines are about the public
you’re still wrong about everything / So far off
your seat’s nowhere near the table,” it makes sense why fans think this song is about Grande’s feelings toward the general public’s perception of her and her relationships
the way i’m almost sure hampstead is about the general public

Hampstead being her calling the public a bunch of idiots who know nothing
— M (@embermuna) March 28, 2025
One thing that is not up for debate is the beautiful vocals that accompany the song. Grande has also shared that this has been her favorite song to write
it definitely gives us fans a sneak peek into her life
the star will keep being open with us and soundtracking both happy and sad moments alike

I like to be up at 6.30am and off to an empty Hampstead Heath
I’ve got antisocial dogs who think they own the park
Then I can spend the rest of the day at home away from everyone
I’m old enough to remember when everything was closed
I miss that sense of the world being shuttered
I’d start to sort the crap out in my house: I’m on the verge of becoming a reformed hoarder
I’m slowly sorting out all I’ve accumulated and love when everyone pisses off and I can pick a room to start working through
I’m a nightmare on eBay when it comes to kitchen stuff: plates
I don’t put stuff away for special occasions

we’d come home and sit round the table having a family roast

the UK’s highest court ruled that only biological women are deemed legally female
It means that trans women will not be legally able to enter women's only spaces
But Kenwood Ladies’ Pond in Hampstead Heath has said it's keeping its inclusive self-ID policy introduced by the City of London Corporation in 2019
The London authority confirmed the controversial policy would “remain in effect at this time” despite the Supreme Court judgement
Feminist campaigners have blasted the move
director of campaigns at the human rights charity Sex Matters
told The Telegraph: “Feminist campaigners have been telling the City of London for years that its policy allowing men into facilities such as Kenwood Ladies’ Pond on Hampstead Heath is invasive
“Now the Supreme Court’s decision makes the inclusion of men in designated women’s spaces untenable."

The self-ID policy has been a major point of contention
sparking outrage among feminists women vowing to "reclaim" the pond
They have clashed with trans activist in a bitter feud over who gets to access the space
The women-only natural bathing spot is the only one of its kind in the UK
and has been around for at least a century.A City of London Corporation spokesperson has hit back at claims that the policy is unlawful in light of the Supreme Court ruling
He said: “The City Corporation is compliant with existing UK law
He added that “a carefully considered decision..
This comes after Kenwood Ladies' Pond Association (KLPA)
a volunteer-led group promoting the interests of the north London pond
rejected a motion that "only those born female in sex can use the pond"
The group said in a statement: "Individuals will have their own views about the Supreme Court ruling
"The Ladies' Pond is open to all women and girls over the age of eight and
trans women have been swimming there for many years without incident
The Ladies' Pond is well staffed by lifeguards and stewards who are there to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all users
"As the KLPA is not responsible for managing the pond
including defining who is allowed to access the pond
it is unlikely that the Supreme Court ruling is relevant to the KLPA's existence or activities."

The north-west London enclave loved by Canada’s new PM
Homes & Property | Celebrity homes
There is a question mark over where Mark Carney will choose to live in his new role as Prime Minister of Canada
He now has three official residences at his disposal (in Ottawa
Montreal and Harrington Lakes) but his predecessor
has called for a new official residence to be built given the “terrible condition” of the principle home
This is not a problem Carney faced when he moved to London with his family to take up the role as Governor of the Bank of England in 2013
less due to any wild antics than thanks to his generous remuneration package
and making him one of the highest paid central bankers in the world
This included a £250,000 annual housing allowance but Carney was praised for his “down-to-earth” choice of neighbourhood, settling with his British-born wife, Diana, and four daughters first in West Hampstead and then in 2015 in an eight-bedroom house in nearby South Hampstead
The Arts & Crafts property with its wine cellar
glass cupola-topped sunroom and separate studio with kitchenette cost £3,500 per week and some neighbours blamed Carney for shining a spotlight on their relatively under the radar area and pushing the rents up
But Carney certainly got to know the neighbourhood while he was there – in a typically understated way
He was known to frequent his local barber on Mill Lane and was even spotted running the 10 km in to Threadneedle Street
despite being conveniently placed for several Tube lines
His daughters attended South Hampstead High School a short walk away
The family stayed in the house on Compayne Gardens in the distinctly unflashy pocket of north-west London until 2020 when they moved back to Canada and Andrew Bailey became the new Governor
would cost around £6 million to buy,” says Mark Pollack
Co-Founding Director of Aston Chase who sold the house
“If the property were to be rented in the current market
it would be valued at around £4,000 per week
£500 per week more than when the Carneys lived there.”
Carney isn’t even Compayne Gardens’ first famous resident; poet and writer T.S
Eliot moved to No3 shortly after his wedding in 1915
although he described it as a “gloomy house… with long dark corridors”
The area still has its fair share of celebrities – Emma Thompson, Stephen Fry, Dua Lipa, Derek Jacobi and Bill Nighy are just a few of the famous faces who call it home.
“The village feel of West Hampstead is also a huge appeal to buyers and tenants alike; the area offers a high quality of life with access to boutique shops
with the added bonus of it being just two stops on the tube from Hampstead Heath.”
it’s thought that Carney returned to his previous home in Rockcliffe Park
this area is prestigious without being ostentatious – noticeably similar to Carney’s former London neighbourhood
