(TSXV: REC) reports it has acquired an option on a copper property in Quebec
The option is on six claims (approximately 245 hectares) known as the La Sarre Copper Property located 81 kilometres north of Rouyn-Noranda
It is owned by privately-held exploration company
Historical drilling by Chamberlin Management Corp
on the La Sarre property in 1947 encountered copper rich sulphides that "assayed up to 0.15 ounces per ton platinum
2.02 % nickel and 1.56% copper over 13.9 feet and 32.2 foot intersections"
The exact location of the individual drill holes were not reported by Chamberlin L
Beaufield had sought to verify these results by undertaking a more detailed ground magnetometer and a horizontal loop EM survey in the area of drilling followed by drilling 5 holes in 1986
They were unable to intersect the high grade copper zones
In its report Beaufield admitted that "only a small portion of the La Sarre property has been tested" and recommended additional exploration work
"They (Beaufield) basically missed," said Record Resources CEO
It looks like they only checked the high magnetic anomaly
only one drill hole tested the EM anomaly associated with a magnetic low
It is probable that that geophysical survey was not adequately tested to delineate vertical mineralization."
"La Sarre has been barely explored," said Record Resources CEO
"Our geotechnical group has re-examined all reported results available for the property and region and is coming at this with a fresh approach."
(200*) (GM63727) recently compiled from the Quebec MNRF files all available geological and geophysical data in the region adjacent to the Riviere La Sarre property (4 claims) and identified 3 potential copper-gold (zinc) deposits on the claim group
The Riviere La Sud property located less than 50 km northeast of the La Sarre Copper property has very similar geological and geophysical settings as La Sarre Copper."
there is still enough of a footprint to host four mines
What is important is that we have both location and prospectivity," said Judson
we will increase our portfolio of opportunities in this space through more deal-making and staking."
Terms of Agreement:Record Resources can own 100 percent of the claims by paying $500.00 at closing on or before September 30
2024 and by issuing 300,000 shares. The shares to be issued as part of this agreement are valued at $0.05 per share

The Casa Berardi gold mine is an open pit and underground mining operation in Quebec
is an operating open-pit and underground mine
The project is owned by Hecla Mining Company (Hecla) and has been operational since 1974
Casa Berardi produced 90,363oz of gold and 22,415oz of silver in 2023
Hecla allocated $25.4m for the exploration and pre-development of its various assets
with 3.8% earmarked for Casa Berardi for 2024
targeted underground explorations will concentrate on the principal mining area to expand the underground mining zone
Hecla aims to transition the mine from underground to a fully open-pit operation
The Casa Berardi property is located within the Quebec province
approximately 95km north of La Sarre in the James Bay municipality
The property is bounded in the west by the Quebec / Ontario provincial line and covers part of the Casa Berardi
It extends over 37km from east to west and up to 3.5km from north to south
The Casa Berardi property is located in the northern part of the Abitibi Subprovince
within the superior province in the Archean core of the Canadian Shield
The regional geology is characterised by east-west trending
graphitic mudrocks and a large granodioritic to granitic batholith
Three primary types of mineralisation are identified at Casa Berardi: gold is found in quartz veins
These mineralised zones are closely associated with the Casa Berardi Fault and can be found on both sides of the fault
The proven and probable mineral reserves at Casa Berardi are estimated at 14.3 million tonnes (mt) grading 2.75g/t of gold (Au) and 1.27 million ounces in contained metal
The Casa Berardi mining operation comprises of several open pits and two underground mines
The Casa Berardi property is mined using conventional open-pit mining methods
The open-pit mining consists of four pits: the F160
with overburden removal projected to continue until the fourth quarter of 2024
The final phase of the F160 pit is expected to conclude in 2026
The pit designs utilise 7.5m-high mining benches
with plans to consider 10m-high benches for future pits to optimise production rates
located on the western side of the Casa Berardi property
is slated for development to coincide with the cessation of underground mining in the West Mine area
Mining of the WMCP pit reserves is scheduled between 2032 and 2037
Overburden removal for the Principal pit area is planned to commence in 2028
with ore mining planned to begin in 2030 and peaking at 4,752tpd in 2031
The F134 pit is located south-east of the Principal pit
Mining at the pit will begin in 2037 and conclude within the same year
the development of three additional open pits
and other infrastructure is anticipated on the property
The mining fleet includes hydraulic excavators
Underground mining will proceed from the West Mine in 2024
as the East Mine was abandoned in 2023 to facilitate backfilling of the adjacent EMCP pit
The transverse mining method is applied in areas with 10m or more wide mineralisation
Stopes are subdivided into smaller panels in areas greater than 20m and mined in sequence from the hanging wall to the footwall
The longitudinal mining method is used for narrow mineralisation or areas with limited development
including 15m centre draw points and 20m sublevel spacing
Underground access is currently via the shaft at the West Mine
The West Shaft was developed before 2006 and deepened to 1,080m in 2013
The West Shaft has a diameter of 5.5m with a 42m-deep concrete shaft collar anchored in bedrock
with a steel structure dividing the shaft into four compartments; two for the 12t skips
The fourth compartment is a manway and a service area for pipes and electrical cables
The Casa Berardi mill has a processing capacity of 3,730tpd
Ore from the West Mine and open pit is transported to a crusher dump pocket
where oversized materials are broken down and screened before being crushed in a primary jaw crusher
The crushed ore is conveyed to a semi-autogenous grinding (SAG) mill
which operates in a closed circuit with a SAG screen
Oversized material from the SAG screen is recirculated to the SAG mill while undersized material is directed to the cyclone system
The ball mill functions in a closed circuit with the cyclones
The overflow from the cyclones passes through a trash screen before proceeding to the production thickener
The cyclone underflow supplies two parallel gravity circuits
The concentrate from the gravity circuit undergoes leaching in an intensive leach reactor (ILR)
with the tailings returning to the ball mill
The production thickener underflow feeds the carbon-in-leach (CIL) circuit
Cyanide and lead nitrate are introduced to facilitate gold leaching
with activated carbon employed to adsorb the gold
The carbon loaded with gold from the CIL tanks undergoes washing
In the elution circuit, the Zadra process is used to strip gold from the loaded carbon. The resulting pregnant solution is cooled and transferred through electrowinning cells, where gold sludge is collected, filtered, dried, smelted, and cast into gold dore bars. A specific electrowinning cell is reserved for processing the ILR gold solution
The Casa Berardi property is accessible by a 38km all-season gravel road that branches off the paved highways (provincial routes 101 and 111) connecting La Sarre with the Selbaie mine
A 5km track drift links the East and West Mine areas and will offer access to the planned Principal pit
Electrical power is supplied to the site from Hydro-Quebec via a 120kV line from Normetal
Two main transformers are installed at the main substation at the East Mine site
including a 120kV/4.16kV-16 MVA transformer (T1) at the East Mine site and a 120kV/25kV-20 MVA transformer (T2) at the West Mine site
Groundwater production wells provide fresh water supply
with groundwater also used for underground operations in the West Mine area

a family-owned company that has been manufacturing and marketing forest products since 1961
has entered into an agreement with GreenFirst Forest Products to acquire all of the company's Quebec operations
namely the La Sarre and Béarn sawmills and related forestry operations
Formerly owned by Tembec and then by RYAM-Rayonier as of 2017
which are part of Quebec's rich forestry heritage
have been owned by GreenFirst Forest Products since August 2021
The 320 men and women who work for GreenFirst Forest Products in Quebec today would become part of the Chantiers Chibougamau family after the transaction closes
The acquisition of GreenFirst's operations is in line with Chantiers Chibougamau's desire to consolidate its existing operations and to continue to increase the group's autonomy and resilience to better deal with fluctuations in the wood industry
will be able to count on more high-performance lumber for engineered wood
kraft pulp production at the Nordic Kraft plant in Lebel-sur-Quévillon will benefit from greater stability of its long-term chip supplies
while the team at Scierie Landrienne and those at the two Abitibi-Témiscamingue plants will benefit from the addition of everyone's talents and skills
operations related to the Béarn and La Sarre sawmills are based on a long-term commitment to Forest Stewardship Council certification
as it's the case for Chantiers Chibougamau
"This transaction is consistent with our nearly 60 years of existence
guided by increasing our autonomy in all our activities
We are not looking to expand for the sake of growth
but to make each of the links in the chain that we make up stronger
We are also proceeding with this transaction because we firmly believe in the relevance and future of cutting and processing trees in Quebec in the long term
to meet the needs of the fight against climate change through our products
but we first choose the talent and work ethic of the men and women who give life to these mills in Béarn and La Sarre
We look forward to getting to know them and welcoming them to our team defined by proximity
- Frédéric Verreault
The transaction is subject to the approval of the Canadian Competition Bureau and is expected to close in the first quarter of 2023
Chantiers Chibougamau commends the cooperation of GreenFirst Forest Products
its management and its partners in the implementation of this transaction
has been manufacturing and marketing highly competitive forestry products since 1961. More than 1150 people work at Chantiers Chibougamau
making it the largest employer in the municipalities of Chibougamau and Lebel-sur-Quévillon (Nordic Kraft)
and consequently in the entire Northern Quebec region
The company also plays a similar role in Landrienne
and has a design and project management office
Nordic Structures' engineered wood products have an important place in the North American market

Metal band Guhn Twei alleged that the fest rescinded their invitation to perform over their critiques of the copper smelter in Rouyn-Noranda
Photo: William Brière Daigle / The Canadian Press
BY Megan LaPierrePublished Apr 4
The third edition of Alienfest — a family-friendly alternative music festival in La Sarre, QC, scheduled to take place in early June — has been cancelled after organizers faced accusations of censorship from one of the local bands scheduled to perform, the Canadian Press reports
Simon Turcotte, lead singer of Rouyn-Noranda metal band Guhn Twei
he received a message from the festival rescinding the trio's invitation to perform.
derived its namesake from the region's arsenic-emitting copper smelter
owned by Switzerland-based company Glencore — and the festival cited its sponsorship from La Sarre-based steel equipment producer Métal Marquis as a "conflict of interest," as per email screenshots Turcotte shared with the Canadian Press
to give you an idea of how far the band went in
lyrics included in the Glencorruption title track alone refer to the mining company as "thieves in ties," "capitalist parasites" and "rapists of the planet."
Located 60 km from La Sarre in Rouyn-Noranda
the Horne Smelter has come under immense political and media scrutiny for its arsenic emissions
which Quebec had previously allowed to be 33 times the provincial standard
that permission was reduced to just five times higher than the rest of the province
Quebec's public health institute has published studies showing that Rouyn-Noranda residents have higher rates of lung cancer than the rest of the province
and his right leg was amputated due to the disease's impacts
"To censor a local artist whose cancer has cost him a leg
and who denounces the poisoning of his fellow citizens in his songs so as not to displease an ecocidal multinational is the complete antithesis of the punk movement," Turcotte wrote in a Facebook post on March 28 after Guhn Twei's invitation to perform was rescinded.
"Conflicts of interest between our sponsors and participants force us to make this decision," organizers said in a release first obtained by Radio-Canada
the festival issued another news release confirming there would be no future editions of Alienfest — a possibility that was reportedly already being considered prior to pulling the plug on the 2024 event
Métal Marquis issued a statement of its own
claiming to have had no say in the festival programming or the event's cancellation
the company claimed that neither the Horne Smelter nor Glencore put any pressure on the festival
and that their employee was acting "independently" when they told Guhn Twei they were no longer invited to perform
"As a sponsor, our role is not to define or limit the artistic scope of the festivals we support," Métal Marquis president Patrick Perreault said in the statement. This certainly calls to mind the near-reverse situation at SXSW in Austin, TX, last month, when numerous artists pulled out of the festival over its ties to the US Army and defence industry.

Medical students who leave the big city gain freedom and quality of life
Young physicians up for a challenge find practicing in a small town can be a diverse
Many of them left the city with the intention of returning
Their plan was to do their clinical training in La Sarre
Mont-Laurier or Trois-Rivières and then practice in Montreal
these family medicine “expats” ended up putting down roots in their adopted communities
We talked to four doctors who settled in small towns and wouldn’t have it any other way
General practitioner Chantal Charbonneau is a Montreal native who took the leap 12 years ago
when she packed her bags and moved to La Sarre
“I wanted to get out of the city and see what was happening elsewhere,” she related
“My plan was to practice in a small town for a few years and then go back.” Today
she is director of La Sarre’s university family medicine group (GMF-U) and a clinical instructor in the Faculty of Medicine at UdeM
besides her prince charming and her family
She enjoys the personal connections that form in a small team and the close working relationships with specialists
“I didn’t see how I could find that in an urban setting.”
Alexandra Dubé moved from Mirabel to Mont-Laurier in 2015
She too is the director of the GMF-U in her adopted town and she is training the next generation of health care professionals in UdeM’s Department of Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine
As there are fewer specialists in outlying areas
young doctors must take care of their patients almost from A to Z
They acquire wide-ranging experience and develop skills in many areas
“Our medical students are exposed to all kinds of clinical situations
and that is definitely one of the strengths of our training environment,” said Dubé
a native of Varennes on Montreal’s South Shore
still remembers his surgical rotation at the Trois-Rivières hospital: “I would have both hands in the patient’s intestines
I was the first assistant to the vascular surgeon.” Today
he is a GP working in the emergency room at the Trois-Rivières teaching hospital and supervising medical students
lush nature all around and nothing but fresh air: a small town isn’t just a good place to practice but also a good place to live
“Mont-Laurier ticked all the boxes: I live five minutes from the clinic and I can hear the birds singing,” said Dubé with a smile
Another thing she likes is being able to get a feel for the community
Job days designed to lure health care professionals to remote regions have been a great success with recent graduates
who are attracted to the personal wellness
the great outdoors and the slower pace of life
“The medical students and residents I meet are curious about our lifestyle,” said Dubé
we have a very tight-knit community; it’s easy to welcome newcomers and make them feel at home.”
idyllic scenery and multiple learning opportunities
the vast majority of whom trained in urban centres
Matagami or Paspébiac is a major life change
They find themselves far from family and friends
and there are limited employment opportunities for their spouses
there is considerable turnover among health care professionals
It includes members of UdeM's Faculty of Medicine
who will help identify the factors that influence residency choices and propose ways to promote family medicine and make it more attractive to future physicians
in urban centres and outlying regions alike
An action plan will be developed on the basis of the task force's work
"It's important to bring our students' concerns to the table and find common solutions," said Dr
director of family medicine programs in UdeM's Faculty of Medicine
The Faculty of Medicine is also making every effort to promote practice in small communities
increased visibility for professors in small towns
and local initiatives such as the integrated longitudinal clerkship program (ELI) in Mauricie and now in Abitibi
the best way to recruit and keep physicians in small towns is to train them there
Mauricie ranked last dead last among Quebec’s health regions in number of physicians per capita
Quebec City and Sherbrooke—Trois-Rivières was a tough sell
The opening of the UdeM campus in Mauricie in 2004 turned things around. “As soon as the first cohorts graduated, the region started moving up in the rankings,” said Dazé, a member of the first graduating class and now academic assistant to the associate vice-dean of the campus. “For the past 10 years, there have been more job applicants than openings.”
What draws graduates to Trois-Rivières? Dazé believes it’s the close relationship with supervisors.
To date, the University of Montreal campus in the Mauricie region has turned out 309 medical graduates, 224 of whom are practicing family medicine. Of the 76 graduates who have returned to Mauricie and the surrounding area, 59 have chosen family medicine.
Holding on to clinical clerks by making them part of the community: Integrated longitudinal clerkship program (ELI) comes to Amos
