resource characterization to unlock the project’s full natural clean hydrogen potential St-Bruno-de-Guigues Natural Clean Hydrogen “As we advance our flagship St-Bruno-de-Guigues Natural Hydrogen Project where we have already recorded hydrogen concentrations exceeding 7,000 ppm at shallow depths of 50 meters we are now implementing deeper precision drilling to evaluate the extent and continuity of this hydrogen-rich system This marks the first time we have encountered these specific lithologies which play a key role in the radiolytic formation of natural clean hydrogen at depth A significant lithological shift has been identified within the Cobalt Group distinct from previous drilling zones located within the Lorrain Formation Our ongoing analyses aims to determine whether hydrogen concentrations in these newly encountered units exhibit variations compared to those found in prior formations The discovery of potassic arkosic sandstone and the Coleman Conglomerate from the Cobalt Group allows us to analyze the permeability and porosity of these rocks enables us to corroborate their barrier-like characteristics supporting our model that these formations serve as excellent permeable seals potentially playing a critical role in the containment and migration of hydrogen,” stated John Karagiannidis we are deploying advanced 800m tomographic geophysics over a critical zone adjacent to a multi-kilometer identifiable fault system which aligns directly with the outlet of the Rivière Blanche on the northern side of Lake Témiscamingue we have identified a sudden and rapid thickening of the overburden which could indicate the presence of a previously unrecognized fault structure further enhancing the area’s prospectivity Our success in St-Bruno-de-Guigues is setting a benchmark for hydrogen exploration not only within this region but also as we expand our efforts into Matane and beyond scientifically driven exploration strategy we are positioning Québec as a global leader in natural hydrogen discovery and development.” Matane Natural Hydrogen Project: A Promising Geological Opportunity The Matane Project is situated in a tectonic transition zone between Cambro-Ordovician rocks (Taconic orogeny) and Siluro-Devonian formations (Acadian orogeny) This geological environment is highly favorable for the formation and accumulation of natural clean hydrogen These key geological units are intersected by major fault structures which may play a crucial role in the migration and entrapment of natural clean hydrogen following a structural corridor highly conducive to deep groundwater circulation and water-rock reactions essential for hydrogen generation The project benefits from excellent logistical access with direct road connections via Route 195 ensuring efficient mobilization of exploration teams and equipment The Matane Project work program is based on a scientific and technologically advanced approach Competition was particularly fierce in the last round of the 2013 UCI Para-Cycling Road World Cup with sprint finishes deciding the winners in a large number of sport classes It was not only the road races that saw the athletes register the same times on the roads of Matane it was impossible to declare a winner between Italy’s Luca Mazzone and the American William Groulx Both stopped the clock at 29:53.80 after the 16.6km course and were classed first equal a narrow four seconds in front of his American opponent Mazzone wins the 2013 World Cup title in his sport class in front of Ireland’s Mark Rohan finishes the World Cup season in third place overall The road race for the sport classes C1-2 and C4-5 saw only one athlete Spain’s Maurice Eckhard Tio (C2) manage to make the break finishing the 66.4km course 52 seconds ahead of the peloton The sprint behind the Spanish athlete saw 20 athletes record the same time of 1:43.01 with wins going to German Pierre Senska (C1) Australian Susan Powell (C4) and American Samantha Heinrich (C5) Sprint finishes were also order of the day in several other sport classes with narrow wins going to French men's H3 athlete Joel Jeannot Australia’s Carol Cooke (T2) and South African Ernst Van Dyk (H4) Van Dyk took first place in front of Italy’s Alex Zanardi It was Zanardi’s first defeat in this year’s World Cup with wins in both the time trials and road races of the two previous rounds his overall title was never in danger The much awaited duel in the men's T2 class between Great Britain's Paralympic champion David Stone and Germany’s Hans-Peter Durst was not to be as Durst did not take the start in the road race due to illness Stone was victorious in both the time trial and road race taking the overall World Cup title into the bargain The B class was missing local favourite and Canadian Paralympic champion Robbi Weldon and pilot Emilie Roy who had an accident in training and who were both still recovering in hospital British World Cup leaders Lora Turnham and Corrine Hall won the time trial and with a fourth place in the road race (won by Spain’s Josefa Benitez Guzman and Judit Masdeu Cort) managed to hold onto their lead and take the overall World Cup title Despite a return to winning form for the Italian Pizzi brothers Ivano and Lucca (MB) in the time trial it was not enough to earn them overall honours which went to Spain’s Ignacio Avila Rodriguez and pilot Joan Font Bertoli move up from fourth to second in the rankings in front of fellow Italians Emanuele Bersini and Riccardo Panizza The athletes will now cross the St-Lawrence River to Baie-Comeau for the 2013 UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships which get underway on 29 August and run through 1 September AIR Niugini should lower its domestic airfares if Continental Airways operates flights into PNG Sir Paulias said Air Niugini and other PNG airlines should welcome Continental or passing through on their way to other places Sir Paulias said the move meant that Air Niugini would carry a lot more tourists on its internal flights after they disembarked from Continental Airways flights But this would only happen if Air Niugini reduced its airfares to attack tourists to other places within the country Sir Paulias said he believed the country would get an influx of Japanese tourists who would want to visit the places where their countrymen fought during the war Tourists from the United States would pass through PNG to go to Australia and other countries Tourists would also bring in more foreign exchange Sir Paulias said he welcomed the Government’s decision to allow Continental to fly to PNG HE SAID PASSENGERS WOULD FIND IT CHEAPER TO TRAVEL FORM Port Moresby to Guma He also repeated his earlier call for an investigating committee to look into the management of Air Niugini He urged the Civil Aviation Minister Mr Berghuser to set up a committee which should probe the localisation program particularly of the National pilots and engineering staff “There are many things that need to be straightened out in the airline We must put the best people in localized positions “A lot of money is used to pay expensive expatriates.” Sir Paulias claimed that Continental used 20 per cent of its total budget to pay wages of its employees while Air Niugini spent 60 per cent on wages This was the reason why Air Niugini was not making profits He said Air Niugini was also employing about 25 persons to serve one passenger to serve one passenger which employed three workers for every one passenger “I would expect Talair to reduce its air fares but their fares ae basically the same with Air Niugini.” To see this and access more stories from our 55 years old history from 1950’s – 2000’s, do visit our according to estimates the Matane moose's antlers are so exceptional that they could fetch anywhere from $100,000 to $1-million probably among trophy collectors in the United States "No one has ever seen anything like it," says Georges Landry a Quebec taxidermist and official measurer for the Boone and Crockett Club a U.S.-based group founded by Theodore Roosevelt that keeps records for big game "Getting those antlers is like winning the Stanley Cup." the Monster of Matane was considered more legend than real The world got its first glimpse of the magnificent animal when amateur photographer Langis Paradis ventured into the Matane Wildlife Reserve in the Gaspé Peninsula early one morning in 2009 and couldn't believe his eyes The antlers on the animal before him were so expansive Paradis thought two moose were standing one in front of the other Paradis's photo and the animal's reputation spread Paradis said Tuesday from his home in the Gaspé The skeptics were silenced after another hunter videotaped the beast during a trip to the Matane reserve a few months later Word began to spread to hunting forums around the world The average adult moose has 16 to 28 points on its antlers; this one had about 60 Any moose antler span over 50 inches is considered a good trophy; this one measured 55 inches In the competitive world of trophy hunting every detail of an antler is counted and measured to within a fraction of an inch Non-typical antlers like the ones on the Matane moose are so rare the Boone and Crockett Club – the reference for trophy records in North America – doesn't even keep a category for it "It is a very unique trophy," Justin Spring assistant director for big game records at the Boone and Crockett Club said from the group's headquarters in Missoula "I've never seen anything that looks like that Boileau says that he spotted and fired at the Matane moose during a hunting trip last September; the apparently wounded moose got away Lavoie and three other parks employees then returned to retrieve the moose later that day thus "illegally appropriating" the antlers of Mr Boileau says Quebec wildlife protection agents told him in February that they were investigating an attempted sale of a set of antlers The antlers were seized by agents before the sale went through; Mr who first brought renown to the Matane beast the wrangling over the bounty is bittersweet He would have preferred to have the astonishing antlers be celebrated on the living "It was a symbol of what makes this area so special." she was trembling She kept saying in Tok Pisin: “my husband will be here; my husband will be here.” I gently said; Lady Kaludia; it’s only us here We are Papua New Guineans and we are a family Lady Kaludia immediately relaxed and we proceeded with the interview When the news came out that she had passed I recalled this incident and my mind travelled to their home at Viviran that I visited near the school Sir Paulias himself established In the training I received from the white man I learnt that the way to be great was to lift your brother If there were three white men sitting in an official ceremony the first speaker would get up and praise the man next to him The second person would do the same when his turn came to speak The following is what he said about Michael Somare But when he started debating issues we had no choice but to support him We had a lot of respect for him and that was one of the reasons he did very well as a leader at our school at Sogeri at that time and he was very well respected by other people from many parts of Papua New Guinea because of his positive political thinking about life He also worked very hard in a sense that anything he wanted to do as a politician he had to do those things right because if he did not do them right then obviously he would be missing the support from many of us Sir Michael displayed strong leadership during their schools days he might not have been a good sportsman as other people but he played very hard in soccer and rugby The second thing is he was very good at debate If there was something that needed to be debated on Sir Michael would be the one to take the lead and he debated very strongly The third point that he was very good at is in relation to economic and social issues He was very good in those areas and of course there were many other things as well I want to say this to the people of Papua New Guinea that Sir Michael Somare even though he started very early in life as a politician did extremely well in life in a sense that he worked very hard to achieve great things in life … so we respected him very well and I could not say anything more about the respect he gained from us was very high and that is the kind of people like Sir Michael who did so well in life not only in politics but other areas that people respected and loved him PNG will face many problems without Somare I respected him very much because of his ability to respect other people and his ability at many things Every society has certain underlying principles which provide direction and meaning to live for and to achieve Central to philosophical thoughts is a system of beliefs regarding the importance of life related to societal living In as far as school curriculum is concerned a philosophy guiding us to determine what is important and worthwhile and what is not so important TO those who knew her she was a giver, a woman with an open heart for anyone who crossed her path and she will be remembered for that. Lady Kaludia IaPeril Matane passed away on Monday this week, about 11pm at the Saint Mary’s hospital, Vunapope in Kokopo, East New Britain Province. She left behind her husband, former governor-general Sir Paulias Matane, three children, 14 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Lady Matane had suffered from a mild stroke in June. Her daughter Margaret Lepan was beside her mother throughout her ill health and said that her mother had been in and out of the hospital a couple of times this year. She said due to her illness, her mother had difficulties in swallowing which affected her ability to take medication and to eat as well. She was readmitted two weeks ago, and died peacefully in her daughter’s presence. Ms Lepan recalled how her mother gave to others whatever she had without hesitation. Lady Matane was supportive of her husband during his diplomatic missions to Canada, the United Nations, the United States and Mexico. She never reached higher levels of education, however, she had the interest and the urgency to learn things and educate herself to fit into the society she was in. Funeral arrangements have not been confirmed because half of the family was still in Port Moresby and travel during this festive period was hectic. Terrorists have reportedly wreaked havoc in Matane, hometown of the Secretary to the Niger State Government (SSG), Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim Matane, razing it down. Matane, a village in Mashegu Local Government Area of Niger State, has been recording multiple terrorists attacks in recent times. Sources confirmed that the terrorists invaded the village on Tuesday, setting shops, houses and other valuables on fire.  They also invaded Bamba-Lamba community, which is located a few kilometers from Eastern Kontagora, wrecking havoc there as well. A resident of Bamba-Lamba, Hashimu Ahmed, said that the terrorists struck around 5pm on Tuesday and set the entire community ablaze. “They surrounded the community. I was able to escape to Kontagora town with my family.  “They set our homes ablaze. We now live in open places; we need help,” he said. The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Internal Security in the statr, Mr. Emmanuel Umar, confirmed the attacks, saying several houses and shops and other belongings were completely burnt by the bandits. Umar, who said he could not confirm the casualties, explained that the attackers moved from one village to another. He stated that security operatives have been on the trail of the bandits since Monday when they blocked Minna-Suleja road, adding that the terrorists were frustrated because their only escape route to Zamfara State had been blocked by the troops. He however did not place on record any success in terms of arrest or elimination of the terrorists he claimed were frustrated. There have been reports of terrible exploits of terrorists in Niger state, including purported deployment of helicopters, one of which was traced to an elderstatesman from the state, who simply dismissed the use of his helicopter “as inappropriate and unauthorised use”. The Secretary to the Niger Government (SSG), Ahmed Matane, on Saturday urged members of the APC in the Mashegu council area to unite to ensure the party’s victory in the 2023 general elections at all levels. He made the call at an APC stakeholders’ meeting held in Kontagora. Mr Matane tasked members of the party in the area to always deploy patience and wisdom in resolving differences, stressing that this would also strengthen the party’s unity in the area. He urged party executives to take their roles and responsibilities seriously and be determined to pursue them decently, considering every political party’s objective to win elections and form government. The SSG said intra-party wranglings were threats to democratic consolidation and stability of the party, hence the need for aggrieved party members in the area to sheath their swords and work to make the party emerge victorious in 2023. The SSG revealed that the government would soon embark on the rehabilitation of Kawo-Mashegu-Kaboji and Adogon Malam-Babugi-Pellegi roads. He said the regeneration of the network of roads in the area was a testimonial of Governor Sani Bello’s commitment to ensure that Mashegu Local Government felt the dividends of democracy. APC chair in Mashegu council, Aliyu Danmasani, appealed to members of the party to continue to have confidence in the party’s leadership and unite to achieve the objectives for which the party was established.
