Author Holly Wainwright reflects on her decade-long friendships with the women she met in a strip-lit shopping mall when her first child was a newborn
We knew it was coming. The camping trip when the kids would be up later than the parents, adult ears tuned in not for tears and temperatures but for tent zips flicking up and down at midnight, our alcohol audited and phone trackers at hand.
This past Easter weekend, it arrived. The count was the same: 11 adults, 14 kids. The destination was new, but not unusual. A classic Australian campground – powered sites, a well-worn kitchen and a toilet block with a code it takes days to remember. A tepid, kidney-shaped pool and a sandy track to a beach stretching away in all directions.
The babies that brought us all together are now 15 year olds
spread out at different high schools across two states
These gangly teenagers were once babies in arms at a mothers’ group meeting in a strip-lit shopping mall in eastern Sydney
anxious new mothers sitting in a circle on hard Formica chairs
working up the nerve to go first about sleep schedules and shredded nipples and poo
All the questions were really the same question: Is this normal
Six women from my mothers’ group have been camping together every Easter for 10 years
New humans have been born during that time and now trail around after the “big kids” on scooters
View image in fullscreenKids play in the river on one of the group’s camping tripsAnd a lot more has changed too
we’d been thrown together because we lived in the same two postcodes
Now one family flies in from Tasmania and my lot drive from the small regional town we moved to four years ago
There has been illness and loss and diagnoses
There have been years where someone was pregnant
Years when someone was on the edge of a nervous breakdown (my hand is up)
years when marital relations at the camp have been strained
on one of the very best weekends of the year
Not everyone from the original mothers’ group stayed entirely bonded
Although there were no major explosions or fractures
the bubble of early motherhood pops and splits in many directions
Families moved out of the tiny units they’d squeezed themselves into to maintain their city addresses
at different times and with various levels of intensity
Our ability to all get together for coffee on a Wednesday morning – holding each other’s babies while we peed and with someone almost always in tears – was short
There’s a cliche that mothers’ groups are rife with toxicity
it was never thatOur long-weekend group is just one subset
Even within it there are bonded pairs and groups of threes
people who are in each other’s lives and group chats daily
Others who only turn up at major events – birthdays ending with 0
In He Would Never, the novel I wrote inspired by our tradition, the annual camping trip was first decided over group text, but for us I think it was actually the men – introduced to each other at kids’ birthday parties over the years – who made the first trip happen, just when the group could have faded away.
And in the book, one of the men, rather than adding to the connective glue of this little community, is actively trying to pull it apart, so threatened is he by the strength of female friendship.
Despite all that has changed, we still do. Last week we talked about the things all parents of teenagers do when they sense they’re in a “safe space”. About technology, of course. Whether any rules of ours can help guide them through an online world that feels opaque to us. We talked about sex, booze, drugs, respect, consent, shame, sport and school. We shared imaginings of where our children could be in another few years.
Read moreWe don’t only talk about the kids
Into those three days we cram conversations about work and relationships and ageing parents
About health and mental health and ambition and money and stress
About our imaginings of where we see ourselves in another few years
about the things we learned the kids got up to while we were sleeping
with 16-year-olds and memories of that first meeting – how lucky we were to make it into that particular room on that particular day with these particular women
We discuss when their partners will be allowed to join
happy in our shared delusion that this trip will always be as precious to them as it is to us

The Sarnia Sting didn’t expect Easton Wainwright to leave so soon for the NCAA
Colgate University’s offer was too good to turn down
so the veteran forward is departing a year ahead of schedule
“He played four years of junior and that’s quite a bit,” Colgate head coach Mike Harder said
I think he’s ready for the next level and the next challenge
It’s a pretty good opportunity with a full scholarship.”
Wainwright turned 20 in January and has one season of eligibility left in the Ontario Hockey League
The Sting already had pencilled him into one of their three over-age spots for next season
General manager Dylan Seca initially was “pretty disappointed” to lose him
but he now understands Wainwright’s decision
“I dove into the reasons why it made sense for him
both academically and athletically,” Seca said
but I get the perspective for a player like him who only has so many opportunities for a chance like this
“How can we not endorse him and support him and celebrate him?”
The Sting shared a message from Wainwright thanking the team and its fans
“It’s with a heavy heart that I have decided this is the best thing for me to do at this stage of my career,” the Mount Hope
“The Sarnia Sting organization has been nothing but great to me and my development to my hockey career
I wouldn’t have gotten this opportunity without the support they have provided all these years.”
Wainwright was the Sting’s fourth-leading scorer this season with a career-high 44 points in 65 games
He also set career-highs with 16 goals and 28 assists
He was second in Western Conference voting for hardest worker in the annual OHL coaches poll
but he can play it with some sandpaper,” the Colgate coach said
We always say there are guys that can get you there and guys that get you through.”
Players like Wainwright tend to thrive in the post-season
“It’s guys that can take the puck to the net and then have courage,” Harder said
“Those are the guys that do really well when the chips are down
attitude and commitment to improving set a good example for teammates
“We have no doubt he will succeed at Colgate and we’re excited to see all that he accomplishes at the next level,” he said
“We thank him for everything he brought to our program.”
Wainwright had 49 goals and 76 assists in 216 regular-season games after being a ninth-round draft pick in 2021
“The last four years have been an absolute honour and privilege to play in front of you,” he wrote to fans
“Thank you for your unwavering support and for making my dream of playing in the OHL a reality and accepting me as one of your own
the celebrations and the friendships I have made with many of you.”
schools since the NCAA changed its eligibility rules this season to allow players with Canadian Hockey League experience
most were over-agers with no OHL eligibility left
Wainwright is one of the first to leave a year early
Seca predicts more will do the same this off-season
“I think you’ll see a bunch of them,” the Sting GM said
Sting over-age forwards Tyson Doucette (Colgate) and Zach Filak (Vermont) are also headed to the NCAA
Harder hopes Wainwright and Doucette can help each other adjust to college
“I’m really looking forward to having both those forwards join us and just see how they fit in,” he said
Sting forwards Liam Beamish (Penn State) and Matthew Manza (Ohio State) committed to schools before arriving in Sarnia in mid-season
Both are still scheduled to leave for the NCAA at some point
Harder doesn’t want bad blood with OHL teams
but if players are ready to leave a year early
“I don’t want to cause problems with the OHL GMs,” he said
The Sting continue to build next season’s roster
“We’ve got a plan for some recruits that we’re meeting
we’ve got players that we think are staying
you don’t know until time runs its course,” he said

MicroStrategy sharply increased its capital-raising target and 2025 bitcoin acquisition goals in its earnings report
prompting a bullish revision from analysts at H.C
In a research note dated May 2, analyst Mike Colonnese turned incremenetally bullish on Strategy’s stock with a price target lifted from $480 to $521
citing increased BTC holdings forecasts and strong execution on capital raising
As part its first quarter earnings report on Thursday
Strategy doubled its capital plan to $84 billion through 2027
up from the $42 billion goal announced in late 2024
The new “42/42” plan includes $42 billion in equity and $42 billion in fixed-income issuance
The firm has already raised $10 billion this year and acquired 106,085 Bitcoin (BTC) to date
Strategy’s bitcoin yield through April was 13.7%
representing 91% of its original annual target
Strategy’s Q1 2025 results included the purchase of 80,715 BTC for $7.7 billion
funded via equity and convertible bond issuance
An additional 25,370 BTC was bought in April
with a $4.1 billion gain based on quarter-end prices
Colonnese now expects Strategy to end 2025 with 691,249 BTC
His BTC gain forecast rises to $12 billion
with a year-end price assumption of $150,000 per coin
While still below the company’s revised guidance of $15 billion in gains and a 25% BTC yield
Colonnese sees Strategy’s capital access and performance as strong indicators of growth
Despite cutting projected revenues for 2025 and 2026 to $461.2 million and $475.7 million respectively
down from previous estimates of $473 million and $485.1 million
Colonnese emphasized the company’s ability to maintain a premium valuation
The $521 price target is based on a 2x premium to the firm’s projected 2025 net asset value of $103.7 billion
The singer-songwriter on his most memorable fan
and his close friend and nemesis Jake Shears
but it once blew up in my face’This article is more than 5 months oldThe singer-songwriter on his most memorable fan
I would have a really gross sandwich named after me that nobody would want to eat. The one time I tried to cook – many, many years ago, when I was in college – I decided to make all the things that I love and put them in one dish. And so it was brussels sprouts, macaroni and cheese, merguez sausages, extra blue cheese and broccoli. And it was literally grey. So yeah, it would be something revolting like that, between two pieces of cardboard.
You’ve collaborated with some incredible artists. What’s the best lesson you’ve learned from one of them?
Opera singer Renée Fleming and I were once talking, and she repeated one of the great maxims – of classical music anyway – that I think she learned from Beverly Sills. Essentially, you work really, really, really hard on music – you practise and memorise and do your technique, all of that. But then the minute you go on stage, you desperately have to try to forget it all. Try to forget everything.
Read moreYou need a lot of training to do anything well, but when you’re doing it, you have to not rely on the training. You have to be liberated from it. It’s a tough thing to do!
Probably my mother [singer-songwriter Kate McGarrigle] singing horrifying French Canadian lullabies about dead geese in the woodshed – The Old Great Goose is Dead. It’s like, “There are dead animals in the woodshed! And good night!”
If you could resize any animal to keep us a pet, what would it be?
I’ve always been obsessed with bison. I would love a big bison to snuggle up with, but that also could kill other people for me, on command. I wouldn’t change its size. I’m a size queen.
What is the best gift you’ve ever received?
My dad [singer-songwriter Loudon Wainwright III] has never been one to give me much in terms of gifts or attention or advice. And I say that in a loving way because for lack of quantity he makes up in quality. Every once in a while he will just say one thing, or give me one thing, and it totally changes my life. So he kind of saves it.
And when I was about seven, he gave me a tiny little Casio keyboard, and it had these little sounds. And I just spent hours and hours and hours on that little keyboard. I was obsessed with it.
I’m on the Chappell Roan train. I think she’s an incredible singer, I love her sensibility, I love her aesthetic. Chappell Roan for sure.
What’s your most controversial opinion about pop culture?
The gays have really horrible taste in music. In general.
You say that right after praising Chappell Roan – to many, a gay icon!
I know, I know, but there are exceptions to the rule. Look, I’m gay, so I can say it, but especially homosexual men – and women too actually, when they get too far into the twangy guitar stuff – I don’t know. We’ve got to raise the bar here.
What’s the most memorable fan encounter you’ve ever had?
When I was younger, there was a woman, she was very sweet. She would come to all of my shows and she would bring me brooches, tons of brooches. And it was very cute at the time, and they were quite nice, the brooches – but she just came to every one.
She started to drive to the shows, and she would open up the back, and her entire car was filled with brooches – like she had a station wagon, and it was all brooches, and I was like, “Oh, something’s wrong here.”
And it turns out she had abandoned her family – her children and her husband – and was living in her car, and that my music had totally driven her crazy. And so she would drive to my shows with full carloads of brooches … She was like a little housewife from the Midwest, you know, probably in her late 30s at the time, and she just up and left her family and followed me to every show around America, and became a brooch fanatic.
Read moreShe would talk to me – she’d say
and I had to follow the beauty” … I hope she’s OK
I always considered Jake Shears [of Scissor Sisters] to be kind of my nemesis
but he’s always had this kind of commercial and popular success that frankly
and the way he’s – he’s always having so much fun
When I used to drink a lot I had a great party trick
and they put it in those little shot glasses
If it’s burning and you put your hand over it really fast
it sucks the oxygen out and you can lift up the glass – like
So I would do that at parties – it’s actually kind of a fun trick
But one time I was taken out to dinner by my record company
and I showed them the trick and they thought it was hilarious
let’s all do it together!” So they get a whole tray of sambucas
but I was the only one who actually did it – they all chickened out
because the drinks had been sitting there so long
the glass was burning hot and I ended up getting a second-degree burn on my hand
It was such symbolism of the whole music industry
Go ahead!” – and then you’re the one who gets fried

Streep/Prohaska/Maîtrise et Choeur de Radio France/OP de Radio France/ Franck(Warner Classics)Hollywood royalty in the shape of Meryl Streep
and the soaring soprano of Anna Prohaska lend authenticity to Wainwright’s expressive eulogy to human loss
all concerned believe in itThis article is more than 3 months oldStreep/Prohaska/Maîtrise et Choeur de Radio France/OP de Radio France/ Franck(Warner Classics)Hollywood royalty in the shape of Meryl Streep
It was composed during the Covid lockdowns in 2020 when
and first performed in Paris in June last year
with Mikko Franck conducting; the recording is taken from the premiere
The threat of ecological catastrophe permeates the work just as intensely as the requiem’s traditional sense of human loss, for Wainwright interleaves his setting for solo soprano and chorus of the standard mass with Byron’s poem Darkness
after a volcanic eruption in the Dutch East Indies resulted in the so-called “year without a summer” across Europe and North America
The poem is delivered over quietly churning orchestral backdrops
but the combination of the two disparate sources never becomes contrived
And though the musical style throughout is essentially late romantic
with the possible exception of the Offertorium with its rather glutinous cello solo
it never descends into kitsch or seems obviously derivative
There are certainly moments that reveal Wainwright’s love for Verdi and occasional echoes of other composers
but the overall sense is of a language that Wainwright has developed for his own expressive purposes and which he has used with great fluency
there’s a real sense of a special occasion about it all
though whether the Dream Requiem finds its way into the mainstream choral repertory remains to be seen

Leonard Cohen's publisher has sent Trump a cease-and-desist order
BY Alex HudsonPublished Oct 15
Yet another musician has condemned Donald Trump for using their music at a presidential campaign rally, as Rufus Wainwright has slammed the politician for playing his cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah."
PA — a strange event in which Trump reportedly stopped answering questions
and instead danced on stage for more than half an hour while music played
Among the songs was Wainwright's version of "Hallelujah."
UPDATE (10/15, 12:49 p.m. ET): Cohen's publisher, Sony Music, sent Trump a cease-and-desist order following the event, Rolling Stone reports
'You Want It Darker,' for which Leonard won a posthumous Grammy in 2017
we might have considered approval of that song."
"The song 'Hallelujah' by Leonard Cohen has become an anthem dedicated to peace
I've been supremely honoured over the years to be connected with this ode to tolerance
Witnessing Trump and his supporters commune with this music last night was the height of blasphemy
I in no way condone this and was mortified
but the good in me hopes that perhaps in inhabiting and really listening to the lyrics of Cohen's masterpiece
Donald Trump just might experience a hint of remorse over what he's caused
the analyst tells investors in a research note
Wainwright believes Strategy’s “unique and proven ability” to raise equity and debt capital at scale by leveraging the largest corporate bitcoin reserve in the world to accumulate additional coins at a faster pace than it has issued shares
“justifies a durable and healthy premium” to net asset value

I purchased with my grown daughter's family an old dairy farm
where my youngest son with Down Syndrome could live a productive and meaningful life
A tiny store where we sell our own raw milk and local goods has become a wonderful 'village' for so many human interactions
religiously and politically different people find themselves wandering the farm
sitting by the creek or playing with the random trucks that sit by the store
A sense of intentionally choosing their food source seems to be the unifying thread
but all appreciate the opportunities to experience this kind of 'village'..
lots of face to face exchanges happen...and on good days
reunions of old friendships and business connections happen too
I stop at a gap in the thick hedgerow and lean on a gate
which in turn is held by the bedrock of this place
to believe it – that I am held by this place
Here in Devon – a county name which
in the old language of the Celtic Dumnnonii tribe who once lived here
means “deep valley dweller” – valleys drip with life and stories
a green patchwork quilt of fields and farms
I look back to our village: the cottages and school
the village hall which bears traces of what community has meant to this place
I wonder what clues it holds about the literal and figurative village that it will supposedly take to raise my daughter
I want to know where this village is because I am also anxious
I am anxious about where online spaces are taking us
about what AI will mean for my daughter and the world
about the rapid deterioration of the climate
I want to know my daughter will be OK facing the uncertainty of a fraying social and environmental fabric
how to swap a measure of independence for shared rhythms and care
I am trying to work this out for myself too – how to accept the invitation to community
how to reconcile my restless heart and my desire to belong
how to arrive at the ground beneath my feet
My maternal family line has rooted in Devon for hundreds of years
after moving around the United Kingdom and the world for years following jobs
moved to this village in the agricultural heartland of Devon some years back for affordability
we caught a view of Dartmoor’s distant folds on the horizon
holds an altogether more ancient kind of village
stabilizing myself in place and time on 3,500-year-old grey-cold granite boulders that mark the remnants of Bronze Age settlements
There are lots of these village remains over the moor
They are scattered granite skeletons that speak of a past togetherness
developed a unique need and ability to care and cooperate
It has always taken a village to raise a child
it has always taken care to become who we are
but the truth is that I am finding it hard to be part of one
despite working with communities locally and globally for two decades
It has taken motherhood to make me realize I was never meant to do it all alone
But alone is how I have felt at times as a new mother
From early hominins to village dwellers on Dartmoor to recent years
I am learning how togetherness and place and cooperation have supported the development of individuals and communities
We are group-loving beings but many of us have been wrenched from our villages
into a modern world that is bending us into new forms
caring in this context is hard because we were not supposed to do it this way
I love to believe that I am seeking an interdependent
like those I admire from a distance who are choosing cohousing arrangements or hosting community meals
I imagine living like the early Christians in the Book of Acts
where “all the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts
They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts.” How beautiful
I think I like the idea more than I would the reality
I avoid my neighbors to evade obligatory small talk
community can feel like a chore because of fault lines – political
have made these fault lines shift and tremble
the safety and seclusion of four walls is appealing
But isolation is only ever a temporary fix to the challenge of others
And it is never a fix to the challenge of self
How then do we create the close social bonds, the face-to-face existence that, according to Susan Pinker, author of The Village Effect: Why Face-to-Face Contact Matters
How do we make space for this when so many of us live by our own schedules
How do we do it when the self is encouraged over interdependence
when the tethers that once existed between people
said his favorite landscape was around his home in Oregon
He writes: “I’m happy in this undemonstrative
my only choice is participation – to learn from it by participating … of not opting for the expediency of detachment.”
But keeping care within the four walls of our little family feels like hoarding
we walked outside to find one of our neighbors on our roof
and to live the Trinity’s three-in-oneness that shows us how to be fully ourselves by being fully with others
we will need to understand words like interdependence
how to relate to our neighbors and our places
the ecologies of care – of love – that we have always depended on
Participation as an elected district councilor helped me to begin my relationship with this place
I’d listen to residents – sometimes joyfully
always curious – at countless parish meetings and in freezing village halls across the area I served; advocate on their behalf at committee meetings; go for walks and talks with them; plant trees with them
sinking literal and figurative roots into our shared red soil
who is a farmer and politically distant to me
has evolved from acquaintance to friend via Land Rover drives
and honest conversations about our real lives
Participation has helped me get to know people and stories
motherhood has felt like a ripping away of that sense of participation
my days now focused on my own household’s needs and plans
This is important and often isolating work
I feel I am participating online more than in person
I click on Instagram – it repels me
I reply to a message from a woman I only know through these digital squares
and in recent months I have found reassurance and connection with her and others in this digital space in a way I haven’t from some real-life relationships
a source of connection in an often isolating society
Digital connections with like-minded people have
But I want community to be about more than shared interests
I wonder whether it is more about co-located people
people who have a stake in the life of a place
Poet and essayist Gary Snyder speaks about a community being a group of people who share a watershed
Being co-located is about living alongside and being shaped by people who are not like us
But fault lines can become opportunities for encounter if we’re prepared to sit and listen and perhaps even be changed
Jim helped me to understand things: the role of tradition in a community
and the primacy of relationship over political leaning in creating change
A community is as unique as the place where it exists
The village I am seeking is people but also landscape
and the life-giving space between these things
a collective grounding in place and reaching for light
As the director of Helsinki’s library says
homeless people – all fit within the same walls.”
But these spaces are getting harder to come by in the United Kingdom
Public libraries are closing down for lack of funding (around one fifth have closed since 2010)
Our large regional library in Exeter was taken over by a business and managed to keep its doors open
It is hard to name other free spaces where
appreciating the emotional connection with other mothers but often craving something other than the toys
Re-villaging might also look to the church for guidance
Church is what I most imagine – most hope – community could be: a flawed group of people who choose to stay together despite differences
I don’t think there are many other places where that happens
and I think the church needs to face outward
and welcome the community-curious as much as the Christian-curious
also become a distraction to avoid the deeper work of facing who we are and who we’re becoming
I’ve seen the relative ease of focusing on process and programs versus the challenge of facing ourselves
but it is also as earthy as digging my hands into soil at the allotment
as rambling as conversations with neighbors
as inconvenient as choosing encounters on public transport instead of the convenience of my car
It is about trust in each other even when there are forces and companies that would rather we put that trust in them
our village hall hosted a conversation about the future of this place
and everyone was invited to contribute ideas about work
the Post-it notes fluttered and flapped like leaves on a tree
There are so many people who want to participate
Often people don’t join in because they don’t know how
The formal processes of government can be cumbersome
But placemaking and community building can be as simple as pens
Conan Doyle says of the place: “You are conscious everywhere of the homes and the work of prehistoric people … the strange thing is that they should have lived so thickly on what must always have been most unfruitful soil.”
I wonder how we might choose to “live thickly” on the often unfruitful soil of modern life
I am drawn to and challenged by this necessity of commitment to a place and to a community
I think it is the thing that has always tethered us – in hunter-gatherer groups
The independence and rootlessness of the past hundred or so years may be an anomaly in the story of human communities
my daughter is asking me to participate – not just in this place with its people and institutions
She is asking me to re-village not in theory
but as messily and abundantly as the ancient hedgerow outside my window
to face the village and help call it forth
and – I am realizing – me
Her background is in international development and local politics
Without glorifying community or motherhood
Elizabeth Rush’s The Quickening brings these things into the conversation on climate change
practical ways to incorporate the wisdom of a fourteenth-century poem into her government work
environmentalists like me should work with farmers
African Christians seek to heal the ravages of ecological and ethnic violence
We’re born with a hunger for roots and a desire to pass on a legacy

Classic ballad was played during bizarre campaign event in which Trump told audience: ‘Let’s just listen to music’
The estate of Leonard Cohen has asked Sony Music to issue a cease and desist letter to Donald Trump, after a recording of Rufus Wainwright singing Cohen’s song Hallelujah was played at a bizarre campaign event
The song was one of a number Trump played during a Q&A session in Oaks
where numerous audience members needed medical attention amid high temperatures
Trump first joked about the heat – “Personally
five pounds” – and then switched to playing music such Luciano Pavarotti’s recording on Ave Maria
Guns N’ Roses’ epic power ballad November Rain was also played
the Village People’s YMCA and Nothing Compares 2 U by Sinead O’Connor
Trump later wrote on Truth Social: “The Q and A was almost finished when people began fainting from the excitement and heat
Kamala Harris captioned a clip of the event with the words: “Hope he’s okay.”

So many other artists have opposed him, from Rihanna to the Rolling Stones, that there is a Wikipedia page dedicated to the phenomenon
performed by dozens of artists since its initially overlooked release by Cohen in 1984
The most famous version was recorded by Jeff Buckley in 1994
but that was inspired by John Cale’s 1991 version
Alexandra Burke’s version reached Christmas No 1 in the UK in 2008 after she won The X Factor
Bon Jovi and Bono are among the other artists with renditions
This article was amended on 6 November 2024 to clarify that the estate of Leonard Cohen asked Sony Music to issue a cease and desist letter to the Trump campaign
rather than the estate itself issuing the letter

The Stettler Imperials set the tone early in the first period of the hockey game
when they hosted the Wainwright Rustlers on Dec 7
The Imperials were starting on a high note after their impressive 11-4 victory over the Hughenden Jets the Saturday before
There was rough stuff happening on both sides through the game
with Stettler at one point having to fight off a very brief five-on-three due to a succession of roughing calls
The Rustlers’ Derek Pfisterer opened second-period play with a cross-checking penalty of his own
Stettler's Ethan Rost had a multi-point night earning a pair of assists
while Dylan Houston and Erik Rost contributed to scoring
The Imperials would put the score to three-nothing
Wainright didn't let Stettler get complacent
Wainright managed to claw back a pair of goals scored by Kael Perkins and Michael Shirley in the third period
Play continued for a few minutes before a fight would break out by the Wainwright net
The altercation would see the Rustlers take a roughing penalty
Imperials Erik Rost would also get called for roughing Wainwright showed no signs of surrender
Both teams kept things interesting for the last few minutes of play
and would work the puck up and down both ends of the ice
Stettler kept the Wainwright goalie busy as the period wound down
keeping their shots on goal doubled to Wainright's
The Rustlers pulled their goalie to no avail
The Wainright team managed to keep the puck in play until the clock ran out
but would fall to the Imperials by a one point margin of 3 to 2
