Gérard Bertrand has turned to Limoux for his latest sparkling expression
The vintage expression combines a strong year with limestone terroir and Bertrand’s well-honed winemaking
The 2015 season was characterised by an early bud break and a mild spring
which was then balanced by cool breezes and thunderstorms in August
Gérard Bertrand and his team saw the cuvée’s potential from the first fermentation
the 2015 vintage was chosen and laid to laths for extended ageing
The certified organic Crémant de Limoux was released nine years after as a ‘testament of time and vision.’
Aigle Impérial 2015 owes its character to the Haute Vallée de l’Aude terroir
where the limestone-rich soils and an altitude of 400-450 meters have long produced grapes for sparkling wines
The terroir is said to produce grapes of purity
The result is an Aigle Impérial 2015 with ‘complexity
The sparkling wine is a blend of 70% Chardonnay
The grapes were chosen for their balance of sugar and acidity
the juice was fermented in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks for the first fermentation
blending became the decisive step in creating the vintage
and the expedition liqueur (3 g/l) was added
yielding a brut nature with a ‘fresh
Aigle Impérial is now available at Selfridges for £200 and in wine shops and fine restaurants
The 2015 vintage is also available online at the winery’s website for €149 (£124)

2024 at 1:00 PM UTC·3 min readAs teams approach double-digit games played
so too is the play of a number of QMJHL draft eligibles
So what better time than to check in on the netminders
After a lights out nine game stint last season with the Drakkar
Baie-Comeau gave their hotshot netminder the keys to the castle -- trading overager Charles-Edward Gravel in the process
There was some reasonable concern on whether he'd be able to fill the starting role so quickly without much of a battle
but his addition to Canada's gold medal winning Hlinka-Gretzky team served as a signal of confidence in the otherwise unknown netminder
the 6-foot-1 netminder has lived up to expectations to start the year
posting a 4-2-0 record over six starts while hoisting a .912 save percentage against tougher match-ups
It's still a bit early to tell whether he's in the upper echelon of the 2025 class' goalies next to the OHL's Jack Ivankovic and the WHL's Joshua Ravensbergen -- but nothing so far has indicated that he shouldn't be that far behind them
The once heralded future of Canadian goaltending has now found himself in a rut
Gabriel D'Aigle been considered the draft class' top prospect for years
earning that impressive reputation through his impeccable play
before going on to join the Victoriaville Tigres as their first round selection that year at second overall
He'd play extremely well in his rookie campaign
rocking an .894 save percentage over 21 games
and would even get the nod to represent Canada at the under-18's
it was from that point where he hasn't been the same
tallying a horrific .841 save percentage over 3 games
his play has deteriorated in the QMJHL -- posting an .879 save percentage over 25 games with the Tigres
it was clear that D'Aigle needed to fix the narrative
averaging 5.62 goals a game while stopping at a rate of .860 through six games
struggling mightily as well with an .822 over three games -- it's clear that the Tigres aren't helping his case
One can only imagine the possibility of D'Aigle getting dealt this season as both team and player try to make the best of the situation
Perhaps the biggest surprise between the pipes this season has been former QMJHL second round pick Samuel Meloche
The 6-foot-2 netminder is coming off of a strong season in U-18 AAA
holding a .911 save percentage over 29 games (8th best amongst starters)
and even jumped into a QMJHL game with the Huskies where he more than held his own at a .931 save percentage over 29 shots
this season he hasn't just been in the QMJHL but he's taken over the starting role from overager Kyle Hagen
Meloche has played in eight games with a .902 save percentage
Although arguably the most impressive part of his play so far has been his ability to drag games into extra time -- helping his team pick up three extra points they wouldn't have
He's especially turned up the heat in the last five games
where he has been able to carry a .953 save percentage

Kenya’s Richard Omaya Atuya and Great Britain’s Scout Adkin claimed victory at La Montee du Nid d'Aigle
round five of this year’s Valsir Mountain Running World Cup
the runners lined up in Le Fayet at the historic thermal baths
ready for this 20km race with 1850m of ascent and 650m of descent
A small group quickly established itself at the front of the men’s race
Michael Selelo Saoli and Sylvain Cachard broke away and the lead continually changed
The group broke up slightly as they emerged in St Gervais
and then continued to splinter on the fast river sections
At this point it looked like any one of this group could win.
By the time they reached Chalet Miage at the 13.5km point it was Omaya Atuya who had opened a gap of 30 seconds over Kiprotich
There was then a gap of one minute and 45 seconds to Selelo Saoli
with Ombogo Kiriago and Cachard just a few seconds behind.
Omaya Atuya couldn’t be caught on the climb and he took the win in 1:46:55
Kiprotich held on to second place and finished just under a minute behind in 1:47:40
Selelo Saoli completed the men’s podium a further minute back
In the women’s race it was no surprise to see Philaries Jeruto Kisang leading it out
Initially it looked as though Jeruto Kisang was pulling away
but Adkin didn’t let her open a gap and they in turn were pursued by Gloria Chebet.
Adkin was coming off a win at Montemuro last weekend
where Chebet finished second and Kisang third
It was Adkin who reached Chalet Miage at the 13.5km point in the lead
she had opened a commanding lead of two minutes on Jeruto Kisang by this point
who in turn had a lead of one minute over Chebet
Julie Lelong and Axelle Gachet-Mollaret were in fourth and fifth
Adkin put on a dominant display of her ascending ability and she stretched out her lead over Jeruto Kisang and Chebet
with Chebet taking second place four minutes behind Adkin
and Jeruto Kisang fading to third two minutes behind her
The series now heads to Premana in Italy for Giir di Mont
the second long race in this year’s World Cup, on 28 July

Augusta resident Kevin de l’Aigle has made quite a name for himself organizing cleanups in Downtown Augusta and becoming the de facto spokesman for the initiative to save the centuries old oak trees in Downtown Augusta
de l’Aigle has community service and activism in his genes
as one of the areas he volunteers to maintain is the Magnolia Cemetery
was instrumental in creating and crafted the bricks that make up the elegant wall around the property
The de l’Aigle family has a rather illustrious history with the surname being tied to many famous battles and wars going all the way back to the Middle Ages
Genealogy studies performed by the family date back to 1005 C.E
with the birth of Engenulf de l’Aigle
proper surnames were not used and Engenuff
who’s name translated into French means “Engenuff of the land of the eagle,” a village in Normandy
is identified on the famous Bayeux Tapestry which chronicles the 1066 battle of Hastings that saw William
Engenuff would lose his life in the quest to put William on the throne
The de l’Aigle family remained ancien noblesse in France until the leaders of the French Revolution sought to wipe out the nobility altogether
Nicolas de l’Aigle was one of those nobles who fled
a French colony that is today the nation of Haiti
de l’Aigle found himself a target in another revolution
Dominigue that were rebelling against their French overlords
and de l’Aigle barely escaped with his head a second time
de l’Aigle was barely able to catch his breath aboard ship when the vessel was attacked by pirates
The pirates began ransacking the ship and killing the sailors
reputedly because he was wearing a Masonic medallion
He had also wisely sewn his gold coins inside of his garments and could claim to be penniless
De l’Aigle migrated to Savannah from Charleston and then joined the large French refugee community in Augusta around 1803 where he bought a 16,000 acre cotton plantation and started one of the first major brickyards in the South
Evidence of de l’Aigle’s brickyards can be seen today in the form of the catfish ponds that line Gordon Highway southeast of Downtown
he amassed a fortune in the brick business and almost all of the period buildings that remain in Augusta were built with de l’Aigle bricks; the family also amassed a contingent of between 50 and 100 slaves
according to the late Augusta historian Ed Cashin in his book
“The Story of Augusta,” and that would eventually prove to be the family’s financial undoing
When American Revolutionary war hero Marquis de Lafayette visited Augusta in 1825
de l’Aigle was at the forefront of the welcoming party and gave a speech totally in French to officially greet the French icon who General George Washington referred to as his “son.”
de l’Aigle continued his public service being a vocal advocate for building the Augusta Canal
Nicolas de l’Aigle died in 1853 and left his son Charles the family business
but it would not be much longer when the family’s fortunes would change
was a big supporter of the Confederate cause and even donated the bricks to create the Confederate Power Works facility along the Augusta Canal
of which the chimney still dominates the skyline over Riverwatch Parkway
his mother Katie and father (the late) Jerry de l’Aigle
Charles de l’Aigle made the mistake of investing the family’s money in Confederate war bonds
and the family no longer had a free workforce
so the wealth literally vanished overnight
“Most of the properties were sold just to pay the taxes on them,” Katie de l’Aigle said
One property that had to be sold was the massive mansion on Greene Street and Fourth street
a huge brick kitchen and featured mahogany staircases
floored with brick and provided with shelves along the walls for kegs and demijohns,” Kevin de l’Aigle said
The Fourth Street home would be demolished in the 1950s to make way for the extension of Gordon Highway into South Carolina
who adopted and kept the de l’Aigle family surname
refused to give up his post as butler for the family even though they could only afford to pay him a pittance
the family donated a plaque in his honor that still hangs at the memorial garden in Cedar Grove Cemetery where he is buried
The family name is also tied to the last known duel fought in the state of Georgia
Owing to the family’s financial difficulties
the widowed great-granddaughter-in-law of Nicolas
Mary de l’Aigle began renting rooms in her home
an Irish immigrant who arrived in Augusta via New York City
rumors began to spread that the handsome Tilly had more than a landlord/tenant relationship with de l’Aigle
Tilly believed a man named George Ratcliffe was spreading the rumor
and the pair met in person at the sandbar on the Savannah River
near the aptly named Sand Bar Ferry Road with Tilly hell bent on protecting the honor of de l’Aigle
returned to the family’s native land and participated in liberating Normandy on D-Day in June of 1944
The de l’Aigle family’s branches are all over Augusta
longtime politico and former Augusta Commissioner Jerry Brigham’s grandfather was a de l’Aigle
Kevin de l’Aigle’s name comes up often as someone perfect to serve in political office; however
but I guess I can’t rule it out in the future,” de l’Aigle said
…And that is something you may not have known

Aigle's Macadames or "Wild Boot" celebrates rock 'n roll sensibilities and French je ne se quoi
Rain boots are perceived as functional accessories
They are usually worn as protective gear with little to hardly any aesthetic appeal
you can trust that they can turn anything into a fashion statement
This is exactly what Aigle has done for articles of clothing and other accouterments intended to keep wearers safe from the wild outdoors
Rubber boots from Aigle that are both functional and sartorial

He introduced a variety of styles and cuts to include waders and sports footwear carrying the Aigle label

It was the Doha El Madani show as the teenage star shone brightly in AS FAR’s 3-0 victory over Aigles De La Médina in the CAF Women's Champions League in El Jadida on Saturday
coupled with a converted penalty by veteran skipper Aziz Rabbah
secured a comfortable win for the Moroccan side
Following TP Mazembe’s earlier victory over the University of the Western Cape in the first fixture
it was the hosts and debutantes who took centre stage at the same venue for the second match of Group A
AS FAR took control of the match from the onset
with coach Mohamed Amine Alioua opting for an all-attacking formation
It did not take long for the hosts to break the deadlock
as teenage star Doha El Madani positioned herself well to calmly finish off a rebounded ball and open the scoring
El Madani found her second goal of the evening after a brilliantly threaded ball by Sanaa Mssoudy allowed her to double the lead in the 29th minute
The two-goal cushion did not lead to the hosts easing up
and veteran skipper Aziz Rabbah stepped up to comfortably slot it home
this was not matched by effective build-up play
as they struggled to get out of their half
Hajar Said almost found a fourth goal for the hosts after a scramble in defence saw the ball land in her path
the hosts continued to dominate possession
Things could have gotten even worse for Aigles after Adama Sane was sent off for a foul in the box on Mssoudy
but Rabbah’s tame penalty was saved by the keeper
The match concluded with the hosts securing the three points and going top of Group A ahead of TP Mazembe
and was inspired by a trip taken by Etudes Studio in Japan
emphasising Aigle's new blend of contemporary style and performance details
“The use of high-end technical materials, notably Gore-Tex
strengthens the osmosis between [the collection’s] pared-down silhouettes and its seasonal features,” said Aigle. The snug parkas are water-proof
A down jacket's detachable sleeves make it suitable for different outside temperatures
While ingenious details discreetly underline the functional features of these directional items
as Aigle added in its press release. For example
a quilted lining can be inserted under a velvet jacket to provide an extra layer of warmth
the fleeces’ protective collars and the concealed zips add extra elegance to the garments,” said Aigle

For this event, the Etudes Studio trio
Jérémie Egry and José Lamali presented their third season as creative directors of the brand and proposed a particularly different approach to that of their Etudes shows."The brand will be 170 years old in 2023 and yet this was its first presentation at Fashion Week
It was a historic event and we are proud to bring to life the pioneering spirit of Aigle and to contribute to the writing of a new chapter
We chose the presentation format in order to be on a longer
In order to prolong the theme of the collection we created three cycles of continuous strolling on the 5th floor terrace of the Centre Pompidou," explained the designers
"At Études the rhythm of the fashion show is short and intense
moving around outside in an urban environment
But we can also imagine the group wandering around the city in Seoul
The meticulous work on sleeved pieces started two seasons ago is back
The boys wore them over trellis trousers or shorts cut short at mid-thigh and hoodies or sleeveless down jackets with shirts
Some of the blue tone-on-tone offerings could be a chic Japanese university uniform
elegant high-waisted trousers or wide shorts
combined with short parkas and turtleneck jumpers
such as cotton twill or poplin combined with viscose and tencel
reinforce the premium outdoor aspect. The brand also claims that 75% of the collection is an eco-design
Men and women wore the house's signature boots
"Marking the change of a historic brand like Aigle is about enhancing its strengths
We have redefined the brand's iconic features and codes and we want to make sure that they are visible
we realised that it was aimed at urban people
we ourselves are very urban but very attached to nature
we create clothes that are what we are and that represent the Aigle customer; a person who has an active life in the city and who practices outdoor activities
We want to create versatile clothing for everyday life," said the trio from Grenoble
These clothes will be offered in the brand's network
at its retailers and on its website. As part of this approach
Aigle has signed a creative collaboration with the Centre Pompidou
The relationship between the brand and the museum has been launched for two years and in this spring-summer 2023 collection
all based on the codes of a painting from the museum's permanent collection

France’s second-largest airline behind flag carrier Air France
has become the latest casualty of strengthening fuel prices and cut-throat competition
27 after two rounds of bidding were unsuccessful
The now-downed carrier also had embarked on an ambitious campaign to expand from profitable medium-haul routes to long-haul destinations
destinations in Algeria accounted for approximately half of Aigle Azur’s operations; the carrier posted revenues of €300 million ($330 million) for 2018
A French bankruptcy court had granted potential buyers until Sept
16 to lodge sustainable rescue plans.
based at Paris Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports
filed for bankruptcy and was placed in receivership on Sept
The airline carried about 1.9 million passengers in 2018
operating scheduled services with an all-leased fleet of aircraft as well as charter and air cargo services
expressions of interest in acquiring Aigle Azur were lodged by 14 entities
The court eventually ruled that “no durable solution has been proposed by the buyers.”
Air France and French conglomerate Dubreuil Group
expressed interest during the first bidding round but withdrew a reported joint offer
Dubreuil Group is the parent of two small carriers
the regional airline of the French Caribbean
long-haul airline based at Paris Orly Airport that operates a scheduled network between France and worldwide leisure destinations
U.K.-based low-cost carrier EasyJet initially expressed interest in Aigle Azur’s Paris operations but withdrew its offer
Airline veteran Lionel Guérin also had been identified as having sought to buy Aigle Azur
which holds 19% of the share capital of Aigle Azur
Houa had proposed injecting €15 million in return for a 90% stake in a relaunched Aigle Azur
is Aigle Azur’s largest shareholder with a 48% stake
JetBlue Airways and Azul — holds a 32% interest
Both opted not to inject further capital into saving Aigle Azur
September has not been a good month for airlines
companies in its group have ceased trading
a victim of uncertainties arising from Brexit to competition from low-cost carriers and the rise of online travel purchasing
Thomas Cook had been trying since February to sell its airline business. The 178-year-old low-cost travel specialist has gone into liquidation after failing to reach agreement with stakeholders and lenders.
Cook confirmed details of a £900 million ($1.1 billion) rescue plan that would hand control of its package tour business to Hong Kong-traded Fosun International
a conglomerate that owns holiday resort chain Club Med and is the largest shareholder in Cook with an 18% stake
The deal called for Fosun to acquire a 75% holding in Cook’s package tour unit and up to a 25% holding in its airline business in exchange for £450 million
Another £450 million was to be accessed from lenders and bondholders
when the size of the deal was increased to £1.1 billion to guarantee sufficient working capital
Cook was unable to raise the additional £200 million
government subsequently declined to offer Cook a bailout
XL carried about 730,000 passengers to several U.S
cities as well as to the Caribbean and Reunion
an overseas department and region of France in the Indian Ocean
XL Management had indicated that the carrier needed about €35 million to stay aloft
XL management unsuccessfully negotiated with potential buyers
which rebuffed overtures for XL to become its long-haul

Via Francigena
Switzerland is stunning and full of surprises
Despite today’s stage was relatively short
there are so many things to tell you about
Among the group of locals who joined us today was Raphael Farquet
who already walked the Via from Switzerland to Rome a couple of times
and Arianna enjoyed her trip so much that she decided to join us next weekend for the Great Saint Bernard pass and probably somewhere in Italy in the coming weeks
We walked next to the beautiful castle of Aigle
and very randomly met our friends Simon and Olga from the Netherlands
who we met weeks ago in France and seem to be following our same timetable
It’s great to have these familiar encounters on our way
during a trip where you always expect to see new places and meet new people
a short but steep hill into the fresh canopy that led us to a gorgeous view over the valley of the Rhône River from which we could see Aigle and Ollon
We walked along the edge of the valley and then started descending into Ollon
we spoke about some local friends of EAVF’s
today active as an event venue organizing weddings and special celebrations and producing local wine
We decided to give it a shot and walked into the building to see if we could find them
and they immediately offered us to sit on their terrace for our lunch break and gave us their very own and special white and red wines
we’ve been seeing vineyards along the entire route: beautiful terraced vineyards
we started walking into the valley and along the Rhône River
we put rain covers over our backpacks and wore our raincoats
She stamped our credentials and then started telling us the story of the square we were standing in: ancient Roman baths used to be here
Our walking companion Raphael Farquet was baffled to learn this: “How is this possible
– he said – I live here and had no idea of such an incredible and important story!”
The mayor convinced all of us by showing a well-preserved Roman mosaic we could see from a little window in the square: two Romans fighting in ‘pugilato’ style

whose great-great-aunt built the iconic de I'Aigle House on Greene Street in 1873
returned to Augusta with hopes to make his own mark on the city
"I feel like it was really a great place to grow up," de l'Aigle said
"My dad and I would come downtown every Saturday back in the late seventies
We would go to the library and we would go to the soda fountain in the drugstore at Maxwell House
But de l'Aigle said things have changed since then – some for the better and some for the worse
de l'Aigle is passionate about bringing beauty back to Augusta
De l'Aigle House:Now opening: Antiques in downtown DeLaigle House; hookah bar becoming actual bar
Mayor's vote:Augusta's mayor vote passes the Georgia Senate despite objection
"Coming back to Augusta [after living in New York City]
our parks and our cemeteries that are owned by the city are just in terrible shape," he said
"Community groups [in New York] really step up and I think the sad part here is that people feel like they can't make a difference or there's just not the momentum."
local historian and former director of the Lucy Laney Museum
said de l'Aigle helped with a grant she co-authored on behalf of the Augusta-Richmond County Parks and Recreation Department to rehabilitate Magnolia and Cedar Grove cemeteries
"Individuals in the community gave us letters of support and Kevin was one of those individuals," Law said
"Because of the the long history of the de l'Aigle family and its connections to the cemeteries
they're always a source of information and support."
staff historian and program manager at the Augusta Museum of History
said de l'Aigle was instrumental in the museum getting time capsules from the Magnolia Cemetery
"Citizen involvement is very important because who (else is going) to be funneling the information to the city and county in order for things to be done," Law said
"We have to let the folks responsible be aware of what the needs are."
De l'Aigle's mission is to bring beauty and well-manicured green space back to the city by putting pressure on the local government to take action
In addition to calling on elected officials
de l'Aigle has also formed the Coalition for Action in Downtown Augusta
The group advocates for beautification projects and also puts their own sweat-equity into city maintenance
"I started talking to people who have a lot of family in the cemeteries and we're just really frustrated by the lack of maintenance and feeling like our complaints were falling on deaf ears," de l'Aigle said
We're talking about Waynesboro or Greenville; you can't believe the amount of development and how great they look compared to how they looked 15 to 20 years ago."
After being started by de l'Aigle and former commissioner John Clarke on Dec
with its next upcoming meeting scheduled for March 18
Some of the group's current focuses are revitalizing parks
monuments and bringing more lighting to downtown streets
"Citizens can get overheated," de l'Aigle said
"There's more traffic on streets with streetlights that aren't working – it adds to more frustration
I think one of the reasons why New Yorkers don't go crazy all the time is because you're able to just go out and get some air
While acknowledging revitalization projects may take time
the group also focuses on things they can do immediately to help improve Augusta's curb appeal
the group cleaned the George Washington Monument on Washington Street
there was mud all around it and so much soot from cars," de l'Aigle said
"To see the dirt running off of it was really cool
It's not that hard or expensive and we're having fun
We need people who are going to get out there on Sunday afternoon and use their own money and time to gather and clean up the area."
or when he sees something that's not right
He could live anywhere in the world and he chooses to be here and make it the best that he can
It's good to have my eyes opened and be told
De l'Aigle said he hopes to walk in his ancestors' footsteps and make Augusta a better place
[the city] wanted to tear the de l'Aigle house down and put in a parking lot," he said
"My family went before the commission to fight to save the family home – so this isn't something new
"I didn't just fall off of Delta Airlines and come to town to start trouble
It's something that we've had to fight for in the past
present and will have to fight for the future
I think about my grandparents and ancestors
According to footwear and apparel maker Aigle and its agency
over 50 percent of the world’s population will be living in cities by 2030
This is further weakening our relationship to nature; at the same time
we’ve never been more thirsty for that connection
an Aigle-outfitted woman walks into a meadow
flanked by mountains and overlooking a lake
There is no sign of human activity anywhere
throwing her arms overhead; the wind seems to respond
leaves caressing the inbreath curvature of her body
the air she releases makes a long imprint into the fields
BETC Paris called this work a reminder of the “importance of a deep breath of fresh air in nature and the almost supernatural power it has on us.” That sense of the supernatural is present here
The German language has a word which has entered into common English use: wanderlust
Literally translated as “the pleasure of hiking,” it describes something a little more contextual
Sometimes you’re driving along from your housebox to your workbox when something comes over you
Wanderlust describes a craving for nature that hits you all at once
As the Japanese observe in the tradition of forest bathing
allowing ourselves to become enveloped by natural spaces affects our nervous systems in precisely the opposite way cities do
we realize we can breathe—which is easy to forget in a sustained state of tension
But all this isn’t just about observing or being in nature
The act of breathing is a conversation: I inhale oxygen from trees; they “inhale” carbon dioxide from me
Breathe In” is a beautiful illustration of this—when we’re craving nature
our choice to have pushed such interactions to the very edges of human priority seems almost like the betrayal of a living pact
BETC’s decision to use breath as the context of the ad
The languages that currently dominate our global village share a particularity that never existed in the history of human orality: the assumption that humans are the only creatures worth speaking to
breath may well be the best way to reignite that conversation—that relationship
really—between ourselves and the larger living world
“Go Out. Breathe In” is supported by out-of-home prints, brought to you by British photographer Laura Coulson. Aigle claims it was the first major brand to go purpose-driven, in 2020 (we hesitate, and think of Patagonia)
Some 68 percent of its Fall/Winter 2022 collection
created by its artistic trio Etudes Studio
is composed of “eco-designed” products
