© Matúš NedeckýThe spiral staircase placed in the center of the patio does much more than just connect two levels
this staircase was intended to be a large-scale sculpture that was put on display in the patio and could be viewed from anywhere
In order to achieve this sculptural character
the architect designed a seamless construction 'as if from one cast'
There was to be no support in the middle of the staircase; the soffit and side elevations are smooth and seamless so that the homogeneity of the volume is maintained
The realization of the design was technically very demanding: the railing in the stair eye was made from a tube by laser
the soffit was only mounted and welded afterwards
The stair was completely produced and coated in the metal workshop
The whole staircase structure was delivered to the construction site
lifted to the site by means of a pneumatic crane and anchored

Team HRC had both Tim Gajser and Ruben Fernandez lining up for the 17th round of the 2024 MXGP World Championship
as the series went to the Frauenfeld track in northern Switzerland in what was glorious sunshine for the qualification day
MXGPTeam HRC had both Tim Gajser and Ruben Fernandez lining up for the 17th round of the 2024 MXGP World Championship
Gajser showed his speed by posting the fastest times in both free practice and timed practice to give himself first gate-pick for the qualifying race
On was an altered start-straight from last year
the #243 was bumped out from his preferred line to head into the tight right-hander and he crossed the line for the first time much further down the field than he would have liked
he quickly made a number of passes and was in fifth after the first complete lap
He then began to pick-off riders one by one on the narrow circuit
and by the midway point in the race he was into second
the leader had built up a bit of a gap by that stage and although he was able to finish just over one second behind
he knows that he needs to be closer to the front if he wants to win the GP tomorrow
One of the riders Gajser had to pass in the moto was teammate Fernandez
who stormed out the gate on his Honda CRF450R to take the holeshot and lead the first three laps of the race
It was a great return to MXGP action for the Team HRC rider
after missing almost six months through an injury he sustained at the opening round of the series
but it was still very encouraging from the Spaniard that he had to pace to run up front in his first race back
the forecast looks like overnight rain which could change the track for the riders early-on tomorrow
but probably not enough to greatly affect the points-scoring motos which start at 14:15 and 17:10
MX2Ferruccio Zanchi fought through from an unfortunate start to finish 11th in his MXGP of Switzerland qualification race
The Team HRC rider was one of many who got caught up in a gate-malfunction and had to fight through from around 20th place to get just outside the points
With longer races and hopefully an equal start
the Italian is hoping to score decent points tomorrow and battle it out with the top MX2 riders on this technical Frauenfeld circuit

The sun broke through over the Schollenholz circuit in Frauenfeld for Saturday’s Qualifying Races at the MXGP of Switzerland Presented by IXS, with Honda’s Ruben Fernandez taking a surprise win in MXGP and Kay de Wolf claiming his first MX2 Qualifying Race victory of the season.
In front of an enthusiastic Easter crowd, Fernandez delivered a standout ride. After grabbing the holeshot, he soaked up pressure from teammate Tim Gajser, resisting repeated attacks to claim his first Qualifying Race win since Portugal in 2023.
“That was a much-needed one,” Fernandez said. “I’ve been building every weekend, getting better step by step, and finally it’s showing in the results. Honestly, I don’t even feel that great on this track—same as last year—but I pulled the holeshot in the qualy then, and did it again today. Super happy. Let’s carry this into race day now.”
Gajser, who started from mid-pack, worked his way through the field with surgical precision, overtaking Maxime Renaux and Jeffrey Herlings by lap four to move into second. Despite closing the gap to his teammate, Gajser couldn’t find a way through, settling for second and extending his Championship lead over Romain Febvre to 42 points.
Behind them, Andrea Bonacorsi capitalised on mistakes by others to take a solid fourth, while Febvre had to recover from an awkward crash at “The Wall” section to claw back to fifth. Swiss hero Jeremy Seewer made a late pass to steal sixth from Herlings on the final lap, with local wildcard Valentin Guillod earning cheers in eighth. Glenn Coldenhoff and Lucas Coenen rounded out the top ten.
In MX2, it was Kay de Wolf who finally added a Qualifying Race victory to his 2025 tally, topping every session and converting it into a clinical win to stretch his title lead to 13 points.
“I didn’t even realise it was my first qualifying win of the season!” De Wolf admitted. “Lata had a strong pace early on, so I had to be smart about where to make the move. But yeah, I felt good all day—topped every session, so it’s nice to see that it translated into a good result. Now I’ve got a day off, gonna enjoy it, maybe play a little golf and come back strong on Monday.”
Italian youngster Valerio Lata grabbed the holeshot and led the early laps, with De Wolf eventually working his way to the front by lap five. Simon Laengenfelder and Liam Everts completed the top three, staying consistent while chaos unfolded behind them.
Andrea Adamo, after briefly challenging for second, lost the front end in a tight corner and had to remount, eventually finishing sixth. Thibault Benistant showed late-race pace, charging from mid-pack to fifth, while Camden McLellan, Oriol Oliver, Ferruccio Zanchi, and Cas Valk filled out the top ten.
The MXGP paddock now enjoys a rare day off for Easter Sunday before returning for Monday’s full Grand Prix programme, where Fernandez will aim to back up his qualifying win with a big points haul.
After an Easter Sunday break for the paddock, the 2025 FIM Motocross World Championship resumed at the Schollenholz circuit near Frauenfeld for round six, and fans were treated to a dramatic day of racing.
Bathed in sunshine and filled with an electric atmosphere, the MXGP of Switzerland produced two first-time winners for the season, with Lucas Coenen taking out MXGP and Simon Laengenfelder dominating in MX2.
MXGP: Coenen Makes History, Seewer Delivers for Ducati, Gajser Injured
After Tim Gajser edged out Ruben Fernandez in the morning warm-up, the pair looked primed to lead the charge in the motos. But when the gates dropped, it was Lucas Coenen who exploded off the line to claim his first-ever MXGP holeshot, quickly building a lead ahead of Gajser and Fernandez. Seewer gave the crowd something to cheer early by momentarily running second before slipping behind the Honda duo.
While Coenen and Gajser pulled clear, Febvre was left to dig himself out of a poor start, climbing through the field to eventually finish sixth after a crash. Andrea Bonacorsi put in a standout ride, battling hard to finish fourth behind Maxime Renaux, while Seewer held off a determined Febvre until lap 13 before conceding fifth.
At the front, Coenen was mistake-free, keeping Gajser at bay and crossing the line six seconds clear to claim his first MXGP race win. Gajser’s runner-up extended his championship lead over Febvre to 49 points at that stage, with Fernandez third.
Coenen again grabbed the holeshot and led into the opening lap, with Gajser giving chase. Just as things were settling into a rhythm, the race was flipped on its head. Gajser ran wide, clipped a mound of trackside dirt at full pace, and was thrown violently from his bike. The Slovenian was unable to continue and later confirmed a dislocated shoulder—his return timeline remains uncertain.
As the paddock reeled from Gajser’s crash, home hero Valentin Guillod suffered a huge crash of his own, ending his day. Renaux had moved into second and looked ready to challenge for the win, only to run off track under pressure from Febvre and then suffer a massive crash over the same jump as Guillod, ruling him out of podium contention.
Bonacorsi had looked set for his first podium until contact with Febvre dropped him back. Seewer, meanwhile, was methodically working forward and found himself battling Jeffrey Herlings for the final podium spot. With the crowd roaring him on, the Swiss star made a late move stick on the final lap to snatch third overall, sending the home fans into raptures and giving Ducati their first-ever MXGP podium.
Coenen, however, was the undisputed star. The 18-year-old Belgian became the youngest MXGP winner since the class was introduced in 2003, and the first from Belgium to win a premier class GP since Clement Desalle in 2018.
“This one feels really special,” Coenen said. “On Saturday, I really wasn’t comfortable… but we reset mentally and physically. I got both holeshots, focused on hitting my marks and staying calm. To win both races and get my first GP overall in MXGP is something I’ve been chasing.”
Febvre’s gritty 4-2 result saw him secure second overall and gain 22 points on Gajser, closing the gap to 27. “I didn’t make it easy for myself this weekend with the starts,” he admitted, “but overall I felt really good on the bike… this makes four podiums in a row now.”
Seewer’s emotion was clear after the flag. “To be on the podium at home in Switzerland, with Ducati, is honestly one of the most emotional moments of my career,” he said. “I saw on my pit board that I needed to pass Jeffrey for the podium, and I just told myself, ‘You’re not letting this one go.’”
MX2: Laengenfelder Returns to the Top, Title Fight Tightens
After winning Saturday’s qualifying race, De Wolf came into race day with momentum, but it was Laengenfelder who rose to the occasion.
In the opening moto, Sacha Coenen jumped to the lead, but Simon Laengenfelder quickly reclaimed it with a confident pass on lap six. De Wolf worked his way forward, eventually making a strong move past Coenen just before the finish line jump to claim second. Laengenfelder, however, had already checked out, taking a comfortable win to close the championship gap to ten.
The second race followed a similar script. Laengenfelder again grabbed the holeshot and quickly began to stretch away. Adamo and Everts jostled for podium spots early, while De Wolf pushed forward from fifth. Disaster struck for the Husqvarna rider when his clutch cable snapped mid-race, forcing him to adapt his entire riding style. Then, a crash before pit lane threatened to derail his podium hopes.
Despite the adversity, De Wolf fought back and made a crucial last-lap pass on Benistant to salvage fourth—enough to hold on for third overall. Everts took second overall with consistent 3-3 finishes, while Adamo came home fourth overall.
For Laengenfelder, it marked his first GP win since Sweden 2023 and his 14th career moto win.
“It’s been over a year since my last overall win, so to finally stand on top again feels really good,” Laengenfelder said. “The track suited me well… and I managed to get two solid starts, which made a big difference.”
De Wolf admitted it was one of his most challenging races yet. “My clutch cable snapped right away, so I had to change everything—my lines, my rhythm… but I never gave up. That final pass on the last lap put me back on the podium.”
Everts was solid across both motos, finishing 3-3 for second overall. “It was one of those weekends where you had to stay sharp,” he said. “Now it’s time to regroup and head to Portugal, where I’ve had good memories.”
With just three points now separating De Wolf and Laengenfelder in the championship, and Adamo and Everts still very much in the hunt, the stage is set for another showdown when the series resumes in Portugal on 4–5 May.
Openair Frauenfeld is changing its line-up - with stars who no longer have much to do with hip-hop. Fans are now criticizing that the festival is diluting its core. Organizer René Götz explains the new strategy.
This year's line-up for Openair Frauenfeld has been heavily criticized. The headliners are too far removed from hip-hop. Stars such as Justin Timberlake, Zartmann and Tom Hengst are performing who are not from the hip-hop scene. This annoys the fans.
René Götz, CEO of First Event AG, which organizes Openair Frauenfeld, responds to the criticism and explains the festival's strategic direction for the coming years.
Götz is not surprised that not all fans are happy with the line-up. "Our community is strongly connected to the festival and always reacts passionately to our announcements." The fact that there are discussions about the line-up is nothing new.
When asked what criteria were used to select the acts this year, Götz explains: "The basis of our selection was a new strategic direction: we are opening up musically and developing from a pure genre leader to a happening leader." With this in mind, international world stars known for their spectacular live shows have been added to the line-up.

hip-hop remains the core of the festival: "Yes
hip-hop is and will remain the central component of our festival," explains Götz
Götz also firmly rejects the idea of completely abandoning the title of "Europe's biggest hip-hop festival": "No
It certainly makes sense to take stock after the festival rather than today."
The organizers are pursuing a new vision: "We are expanding our concept and developing the festival beyond the pure music line-up into a comprehensive world of experience." The aim is to appeal to a broader audience and also take into account interests beyond the previous core target group

Openair Frauenfeld has already booked well-known female artists such as Nicki Minaj
there has been criticism that the proportion of women in this year's line-up is too low
"We recognize this criticism this year
We are all the more pleased that we have already been able to confirm 15 female acts this year who will deliver great performances."
In addition to further musical development
Openair Frauenfeld promises new attractions at the festival: "Visitors can expect a unique festival experience with four days full of new attractions and innovative highlights." Something special is the new mega stage
which will ensure the best possible live performances
13-year-old Leo Lemmerich from Frauenfeld will be singing a duet with Helene Fischer
He will perform with her in the Christmas show on December 25
German pop star Helene Fischer invites you to her Christmas show: This "Helene Fischer Show" will be broadcast on December 25
featuring the entire musical ensemble from "Billy Elliot"
The first German-language production of the play celebrated its premiere in Zurich at the beginning of November - and has since enjoyed positive international feedback
Now Helene Fischer has also caught dance fever and is therefore singing a duet with young Swiss actor Leo Lemmerich (13) in her Christmas show
The musical can be seen in Zurich until March 23
and over 45,000 tickets have already been sold
Lemmerich is one of a total of three singers playing the lead role - but the 13-year-old from Frauenfeld has now hit the jackpot
The "Helene Fischer Show" is a co-production of SRF
The show will also be broadcast on these channels
It was recorded on December 6 and 7 at the Messehalle in Düsseldorf
The musical "Billy Elliot" with the great music by Elton John is one of the most successful West End and Broadway productions
Over twelve million people have seen the moving story of little Billy Elliot
who - against all odds - makes his way from the boxing ring to the ballet barre
the musical has been staged in various languages from Spanish to Italian and Korean
which is based on the story of the successful English film from 2000
Europe's biggest hip-hop open-air festival opens its doors for four days
Loredana's own rap meets US artists such as J
Take a look at the picture gallery and get your own impression of the OAF audience
From trendy outfits to fishnet pants and snakeskin dresses
at Openair Frauenfeld you'll find pretty much everything that was once "in" - or probably never should have been
There have already been a few upsets at this year's OAF
such as Roddy Ricch kicking a fan on stage
Now several clips are going viral in which the rappers and their respective security are not looking so good
a fan is brutally pushed off the stage as he sneaks up during a concert
Playboi Carti was so much in his element that he promptly forgot how long his stage actually was
The US rapper falls backwards - and without any outside influence - to the ground
Tyla Yaweh probably didn't have a good day either: the musician threw up in the middle of his concert and was filmed from all sides
Caution: Creepy! Here is the clip.
it's the order of the day to criticize society
the government and even individual politicians
Scandal artist SSIO has probably used a giant selfie of himself and Angela Merkel as a stage set
Whether the former German Chancellor knew who she was taking the photo with remains to be seen
It is more likely that the rapper has allowed himself a Photoshop joke
It's warm inside all those people anyway
but the Frauenfeld guests don't let that stop them from partying
Lots of bare skin and sunshine was the motto
The festival comes to an end on Saturday with headliner A$AP Rocky and German returnee Sido, who you can watch live and for free at home
blue Music host Annina Frey will meet him for an interview and ask him about his experiences at Openair Frauenfeld
After his performance at Openair Frauenfeld yesterday, US rapper Roddy Ricch may have lost a few of his fans: When a fan runs onto the stage and is attacked by security, Roddy Ricch kicks him. This was after the fan had already been wrestled to the floor.
Playboi Carti, who protected a fan from his security and took him in his arms, received thunderous applause. He even gave him the microphone and celebrated, dancing exuberantly.
An experience at the OAF that he will certainly not forget for a long time.
Anyone who pays attention to the outward appearance of the guests will notice: Style is important. And clothes, which are known to make people, have always included tattoos. blue Music took a look around the OAF and picked out the most beautiful, strangest, smallest and biggest motifs.
You can see what festival-goers are wearing on their skin in the picture gallery above.
During his visit to Switzerland, US rapper Tyler, The Creator took the opportunity to explore the landscape a little more.
On Instagram, he posted a swim, a hot chocolate in the mountains and finally his departure at the airport.

visitors can entertain themselves at the OAF - or take advantage of the many activities on the festival grounds
In addition to the skate park and basketball court
Openair Frauenfeld has always had to contend with that darn rain
We shouldn't paint the devil on the wall
but in 2022 - the first festival summer after the corona measures - things are already looking good at the start
blue Host Annina Frey is out and about among the crowd
rapper Loredana takes to the stage wearing gloves and a hat - you're going to sweat during her performance
You can watch her concert from the previous evening again for free here
who have all made the pilgrimage to Frauenfeld in style
you also have to protect yourself from the sun - without always looking at the stage with squinted eyes
sometimes classic when they put on their sunglasses
In the picture gallery you can see the most stylish sunglasses from the start of the festival on Wednesday
Even some rap artists could take a leaf out of their book
The weather is fine, the crowds are slowly flowing towards the racecourse in Frauenfeld. The openair is once again attracting fans of hip-hop culture to eastern Switzerland
who will take to the stage shortly before midnight
young talents and veterans will share the microphone
while the hip-hop heavyweights on the North and South Stages will keep the crowds going - right up to and including Saturday
The crowning finale on the main stage will be provided by superstar A$AP Rocky and German rap veteran - and Frauenfeld returnee - Sido

A limiting factor in membrane protein research is the ability to solubilize and stabilize such proteins
Detergents are used most often for solubilizing membrane proteins
but they are associated with protein instability and poor compatibility with structural and biophysical studies
Here we present a saposin-lipoprotein nanoparticle system
which allows for the reconstitution of membrane proteins in a lipid environment that is stabilized by a scaffold of saposin proteins
We demonstrate the applicability of the method on two purified membrane protein complexes as well as by the direct solubilization and nanoparticle incorporation of a viral membrane protein complex from the virus membrane
Our approach facilitated high-resolution structural studies of the bacterial peptide transporter PeptTSo2 by single-particle cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) and allowed us to stabilize the HIV envelope glycoprotein in a functional state

Saposin A (blue) is mixed together with HEGA-10 and VLPs containing HIV-1 proteins such as
CA protein (white circle) and MA protein (green)
HEGA-10 is then removed using two subsequent spin SEC columns (Molecular weight cut-off 7 kDa) and the Salipro-HIV-spike particles are purified using a lectin affinity column
The lectin binds to high mannose sugar moieties on the spike protein
The column was washed with 50 column volumes HN buffer followed by elution using 0.3 M methyl-αD-mannopyranoside
Radioactively labeled VLPs were mixed with Saposin A (230-0.77 μg/ml) followed by 10 min solubilisation on ice using 9 mM HEGA-10 in 1x HNC buffer
HEGA-10 was then removed using a SEC spin column and the amount of reconstituted Salipro-HIV-spike particles was monitored by BN-PAGE
About 100 μg/ml Saposin A was found to be optimal

People’s Forum on Graduation Readiness Held After Vote to Eliminate MCAS
8 Takeaways From Harvard’s Task Force Reports
The prosecutors will be admitting rap lyrics as evidence in the trial
to the outrage of many in and outside the music industry alike who claim that this usage unjustly capitalizes on racial prejudice against Black artists
Rap is a genre of music with origins in the 1970s in the Bronx
which has since had several evolutions in conjunction with hip-hop
The rise of hip-hop music more broadly originated from African-American
and Latinx youth as they were experiencing the instability of the broader political and economic climate and revolutionary movements for progress
These roots hold strong in the genre today
Young Thug’s case is just one of many where rap music has been treated as criminal evidence in a court of law
lyrics were used against San Diego rapper Tiny Doo in charges of gang conspiracy; he spent eight months in jail before these charges were dismissed
More recently in 2021, New Orleans rapper Mac Phipps was released on parole after serving 21 years for his conviction for a murder outside a club where he was performing — even as another man working security at the club confessed to the crime. With no past criminal record nor physical evidence, prosecutors brought Phipps’s rap lyrics to trial as one stated to an all-white jury: “‘Murder
put a bullet in your head.’ Those are some of the lyrics that this defendant chooses to rap when he performs.”
Rap seems to be an exception when it comes to music
there was no legal scrutiny when in “Folsom Prison Blues” Johnny Cash wrote
“I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die.” In fact
over 500 cases have been found that involve rap as evidence in public records — while just four instances since the 1950s of non-rap lyrics were submitted as evidence
This pattern holds alarming implications for the right to artistic expression protected under the First Amendment
According to University of Georgia School of Law professor Andrea Dennis in her text “Poetic (In)Justice
and Criminal Evidence,” one intention for prosecutors to allow music lyrics to be used in the courtroom would be to redefine them as substantive evidence
wherein they would be treated as autobiographical depictions of reality
the lyrics would not be protected by the First Amendment because they are treated as evidentiary use of speech — or
courts fail to treat rap music lyrics as an art form,” Dennis surmised
“Courts treat rap music lyrics as everyday
conversational-type speech and analyze the admissibility of rap music lyrics without information pertaining to the creation and utility of rap music lyrics.”
Applications of this treatment certainly hold true for cases today. “I think if you decide to admit your crimes over a beat, I’m gonna use it,” stated Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis — whose office filed for indictment of Young Thug and YSL — in a press conference in August 2022
This rejection of rap as a legitimate art form is indicative of a much wider ignorance of the genre
as well as its overlooked historical context in society
the American Civil Liberties Union described “drill rap” in a news publication as a genre whose lyrics may sound violent to those unfamiliar with it
but is in truth intentionally “characterized by themes of gun violence
many rappers adopt a persona in their art in order to speak to a facet of reality they might bear witness to
bringing in rap lyrics as criminatory evidence
as stated by a change.org petition with over 93,000 signatures created by music industry executives Kevin Liles and Julie Greenwald
“punishes already marginalized communities and silences their stories of family
Within the context of a trial, however, constitutional law professor Kermit Roosevelt acknowledges the First Amendment concern, but believes this is not the biggest issue concerning the use of rap lyrics in court: “I think the greater problem is the standard evidentiary issue of, ‘Is this going to help us get to the truth?’ or ‘Is this going to mislead the jury?’” he said in an episode of Law&Crime's Sidebar Podcast
The concern of misconceptions from the truth is affirmed by several studies that explored the societal perception of rap
showed that when participants were given a hypothetical case of an 18-year-old Black male accused of murder
those who were shown rap lyrics in connection to the defendant’s profile were more likely to believe in their guilt
rap lyrics function not as substantive evidence
but as a narrative device that characterizes the defendant in such a way that makes jurors vulnerable to their prejudice
leaving lyrics with little probative value
New York and California have passed laws that require prosecutors to justify the admission of rap lyrics when seeking to use them in court and prove the relevance of the evidence
Representative Hank Johnson (D-GA) introduced the Restoring Artistic Protection (RAP) Act to Congress in April of this past year
The trend of analyzing rap lyrics in the courtroom has illuminated the double standard applied to Black artists in their craft
When art as a conduit of self-expression is used to persecute those marginalized
it can only serve to punish them for their personhood and identity
