The Oncology Care Model (OCM) has helped practices develop their capacity to use data for continuous quality improvement
director of strategy and business development at Tennessee Oncology
How has Oncology Care Model (OCM) participation affected practice transformation
OCM has impacted practice transformation in I think 3 important ways
associated with the model have underwritten a lot of the investments that practices have wanted to make in improving care delivery
The second way in which OCM has influenced practice transformation is by helping practices develop the capacity to use data for continuous quality improvement
with regard to care delivery that will be important for future participation in alternative payment models
I would say the third reason why OCM has impacted practice transformation is by augmenting the capacity for practices to implement the operational activities that are going to be necessary in the future for alternative payment models
A couple examples of this would be tracking attribution to these models and understanding the stop-loss insurance market
which practices would not have had to do without participating in OCM
That will be critical for them to be capable of going forward

So many motherhood books are how to be the perfect mom and how everything’s great
but I felt like it was time to write a book that empowers women to be the best mom they can be but also helps them take control of their lives again
What is it about the word ‘bitch’ that gets people up in arms
The way we’ve assigned it in the book for moms everywhere is about embracing that bitch
I (initiate a list of how you’re going to do things differently
C (care for yourself) and H (help—ask for it)
We’re living this message of empowering yourself
We’re not saying it in a derogatory way
Yes and this book is the complete antithesis of that
and realized there’s no recipe for motherhood
I have three kids who need to be parented completely differently
I also realized there’s no such thing as the perfect mother or the perfect wife
That’s why Jill Kargman’s show
It’s all about ‘be who you are’ and ‘if you don’t like me
What are the biggest misconceptions of being a mom
one of my kids told me I should go for ‘worst cook in America.’ So I’m not the best cook but
my kids have a mom who loves them and tries
No mom is going to be the best at everything and it’s OK
The biggest trend I’ve seen is that mothers want realness from other mothers and a book that talks about what it’s really like to be a mom
Are we too serious about the whole parenthood experience
I think everybody needs to take a step back
take a deep breath and honestly realize that you have to figure out what works for you
There’s no set recipe for this so make your own recipe and make it messy and fun
One thing we have to do is put down the phone and be in the moment
Everyone is taking pictures and videotaping every moment
play a game or watch a movie with your kids

While the healthcare industry moves more toward value-based payment models
oncology practices are at a disadvantage because few payers truly understand the nuances of cancer care to design good oncology payment models
director of value-based care for Tennessee Oncology
How can practices navigate still being in fee-for-service while partially moving to value-based care models
I think that one of the challenges that community oncology practices face as they participate in value-based payment models is that not all payers have an equal understanding of the nuances of oncology in ways that are really important to designing these models
there are only a handful of payers in the commercial payer environment that really understand oncology well enough to design good oncology payment models
“what are the outcomes of the Medicare models?” Which have their own problems and their own challenges
I think that’s sort of what I would call the major challenge that we see broadly in the managed care market in participation in these programs is simply that the nuances of cancer care are such that it’s hard to find
especially in the medical leadership in the payer space
folks who really understand how to design good oncology payment models

A woman named Lyss made her first-ever post on TikTok in a powerful way
highlighting that there's no wrong time to show up in the world as your fullest
my mom sat me down and told me I was biologically male." According to Lyss
I just want to know when am I gonna get my period
When do I get these tampons?” She wondered
But Lyss’ mom revealed that she wouldn’t be going through puberty

stating that “the wallpaper on the wall started to melt off
and the entire world as I knew it completely crumbled.”
She recounted how her doctors and her parents told her to keep her identity as an intersex person a secret as a way to protect herself from being teased
talking to strangers on the internet about how I was born with balls in my belly.”
“There is almost no intersex representation
some child is comforted by knowing they're not alone.”

Lyss answered questions from followers about being intersex
noting that she’s been on hormone replacement therapy since she was 11 years old
She explained that she takes estrogen because she doesn’t “have the organs to actually produce the estrogen on [her] own.”
yet she noted that there “isn’t any scientific explanation” as to why she developed breasts when she did
RELATED: How Many Genders There Are
“A lot of intersex people have to be on hormone replacement therapy because their body doesn’t produce the hormones on their own,” she stated
“And the hormones are still necessary for things like brain health and heart health
In 2018, the National Institute of Health conducted a national health study of intersex adults
the NIH researchers noted that “intersex variations
also known as differences of sex development (DSD)
encompass a diverse set of congenital differences relating to gonads
and genitals that fall outside typical binary notions of male and female sex.”
RELATED: Girl Comes Out To Her Mom As A 'Therian' — Is Disappointed With Her Lack Of Acceptance
The study also accounted for how intersex individuals have been treated historically
medical care for intersex people has centered around surgical interventions in infancy that place individuals in binary sex categories without their consent
stating that “the focus on surgical intervention in childhood and infancy has contributed to a lack of understanding of the health needs of intersex adults over the life course.”
our lives are defined by ambiguities in so many ways
It's rare that our lived experiences actually fall into one side or another
Lyss’ TikTok posts seem to serve a higher purpose
she’s able to own her truth as an individual and also provide a wider context for what life as an intersex person is like
Giving voice to what exists in the shadows of our lives not only removes stigma
it offers a powerful antidote to exclusion
For Lyss to tell her story is to claim space
creating a future where intersex people claim their seats at the table

Alyssa Ball's birth was just like any other
"That's what they announced right when I came out."
Alyssa had a unique difference—one she wouldn't fully understand until a conversation with her mom at the dining table altered her perception forever
Intersex encompasses a spectrum of natural variations in human sex characteristics that defy conventional notions of male or female
Born with a combination of physical traits from both genders
intersex individuals often diverge from the traditional pathways of male or female development
These biological variations can manifest in chromosomes
challenging our binary understanding of sex
Advocacy groups estimate that approximately 1.7 percent of the U.S
amounting to around 5.6 million individuals
I had a hernia and my mom took me to the hospital," Ball recalled
"They went to look and realized it wasn't a hernia
meaning they didn't fully develop into male genitalia or internal female reproductive organs
she had undergone surgery to remove the underdeveloped testes
Alyssa remembers the exact moment she learned she was different
I wanted to know when I was going to get my period," she recalled
and I was asking my mom and she said alright
come to the dining room we're going to have a talk."
Her mom explained that Alyssa would not have a period because she did not have ovaries or a uterus
you're not going to be able to have children
you're biologically male," recalled Alyssa
and struggled to process what she had been told
"I remember going to bed that night and just being like
One thing really struck Alyssa—her mom told her she was to keep the news a secret
"I cried myself to sleep that night," she remembers
the fact Alyssa is intersex remained a secret
"[I was] so scared and overwhelmed that nobody was going to love me
this is something that maybe you wait to tell your future husband the night before your wedding or like
right before you get married—make sure they really love you first," she recalled
Alyssa did tell her friends in middle school
but instead of relief this led to further hurt
"By the first week of high school I wasn't friends with them any more and they told people
and my entire high school called me a hermaphrodite," she recalled
It led to substance abuse and an eating disorder
and I realized the only path to healing was going to be to fully speak my truth to the world."
Today Alyssa has thrust herself into speaking that truth. One of her first TikTok videos recalling the moment she learned she was intersex has been viewed over 2.1 million times
Instead of keeping the secret that left her feeling isolated and alone
she has thrust herself into sharing her story
"Now I'm comfortable and I joke about it and it's great to speak out on it because I never want intersex kids to feel like they're alone," she said
"The biggest struggle for me growing up was feeling like I was probably going to die
And now I have a whole community of intersex friends and it's really great."
Alyssa has come a long way from keeping things hidden to sharing her story with the world
"It just blows my mind because I went from having this secret that most of my best friends didn't know to now almost two million people knowing," she said
she hopes to continue to share her story and experiences
offering support to others in her situation
the more people are going to realize that this isn't some taboo thing to be ashamed of
"There's like online support groups and…conferences
and there's so many things that I wish I would have gotten involved in as a kid
"I just think that we need to be reminded that we're not broken
There are so many different resources for intersex people and non-intersex people."

Lyss Billingsley, founder and CEO of The Lippie Lab, a company that specializes in lip glosses for BIPOC clients.
When asked about the names of the glosses, including Mauve Bxtch and Cheeky, Billingsley lets out a laugh: “Oh, girl. Those are all a taste of Lyss.”
“Am I a scared child? Or am I a strong, powerful Black girl who’s going to change the world?”
After years of struggling with her identity, Lyss Billingsley, creator of the Lippie Lab, has found the perfect label for herself
Lyss Billingsley wears a number of labels: queer Black femme, Gemini, gloss boss. But the two words that best reconcile this outspoken entrepreneurs’ confidence with the years of childhood trauma and mental health issues and confusion about her identity, are inked in ornate script across her chest: Perfectly Imperfect.
Growing up with an Irish mother and Jamaican father in 1990s Meadowvale, Billingsley struggled with her identity. “I was told by the full Black girls that I wasn’t Black enough,” she recalls. “And I was told by the white girls I was gross.”
It wasn’t just her skin tone that didn’t fit into a tidy category, but her sexuality, too. Even though Billingsley knew she was gay from the time she was 10, she remembers singing along to homophobic dancehall lyrics with her friends, while at night she would sneak onto her brother’s computer to chat with girls in an LGBTQ chatroom.
More than a decade of staying quiet about the family member who had been sexually abusing her since the age of six left her even more anxious and confused about who she was.
“Am I a scared child?” she wondered, “Or am I a strong, powerful Black girl who’s going to change the world?”
When the pandemic impelled Billingsley to leave her job at a luxury furniture company to take care of her 12-year-old son at home, she decided to use the same lips that kids used to make fun of at school as the inspiration for the Lippie Lab, a line of vegan, cruelty-free lip gloss line made specifically to look beautiful on BIPOC skin tones.
Billingsley, who is usually the lightest skinned among her Black friends, says that growing up, there weren’t a lot of people who looked like her in magazines and on TV, and not many options for makeup that matched her skin tone. “Then you look at someone darker than me. And then a little darker. And then darker, darker, darker,” she says. “Where is their representation?”
The only real obstacle — outside of launching a new company from home during a global pandemic while helping her son with remote learning — was that she had never actually made lip gloss before. Billingsley began following a young Black entrepreneur Kori Nicole on YouTube, who was running three businesses while completing her master’s degree, and thought, “This girl can do it, how the hell can I not do it?”
After months of research, mixing formulas, leaping out of bed at night to adjust her notes on the ratio of mica pigment and oils, and testing out different shades on her son and her partner, Janelle (who “does not do beauty”), Billingsley launched four colours in July 2020. Fuelled by her large social media following and fast-spreading word of mouth, they sold out in the first eight hours. “All of my shades are about making us look good and feel incredible,” she says.
But even as demand for Lippies grows, it is important to Billingsley — who admits to stealing the beauty products she couldn’t afford as a teenager — that her glosses remain affordable. Each Lippie — mixed, packaged, and labelled by Billingsley herself — sells for $11 to $13.
When asked about the names of the glosses, including Mauve Bxtch and Cheeky, Billingsley lets out a laugh: “Oh, girl. Those are all a taste of Lyss.”
Billingsley says she is ready to expand. She dreams of not just seeing her Lippies — including her new fruit-inspired Sangria line that dropped this month — on retail shelves, but opening her own boutique one day.
Billingsley connects the relationship between the work she is doing with the Lippie Lab and becoming the woman that Little Lyss needed when she was struggling to figure out who she was and who she wanted to be. “I’m giving people a success story,” she says. “You can come from nothing, you can be poor, you can have none of the qualifications, and you can flip that and make it into something.”

Garrett Borns aka BØRNS is being accused of sexual misconduct and manipulation of his teen fans
a woman named Nia took to her Twitter to share her experience with Borns
who she says she met in 2015 at one of his shows
After exchanging numbers and building a relationship over text
Borns allegedly invited the then-19-year-old to his hotel room and asked her to "send pics" several times—requests which she continually refused that led him to ignore her
this all culminated in an incident in which he manipulated her into coming over to his L.A
home after telling her the address was a bar
Nia alleges that she was then "completely taken advantage of" and that the incident left her physically hurt
another fan of Borns named Lyss came forward with a similar story
she met Borns at a music festival when she was 16 years old and "idolized him."
"I was wrapped around his finger without even knowing it," Lyss said while detailing their years-long relationship
which also allegedly involved a pattern of constant ghosting if she didn't comply with his requests
"we were intimate at his place in Los Angeles."
"He had groomed me from age 16 for this," Lyss wrote before saying he was "aggressive and controlling" during the encounter
"I was so fucking scared of him."
"That’s when I snapped out of it and realized that this was so
"He had slowly been breaking me down for so long and I never realized it
But I still was afraid of losing him."
In the wake of both of these posts going viral
calling them "disturbing and false."
“All of the relationships I had were legal and consensual," he wrote via a statement posted to his Instagram
"They ended abruptly and that obviously caused hurt feelings
but for anyone to suggest anything beyond that is irresponsible."
Both Nia and Lyss have since responded to Borns' post
condemning his statement and calling it contradictory
“This hurts more than anything you’ve ever done," Lyss wrote

A WOMAN has recounted the moment she realised she couldn't fit in her airplane seat - sparking a lifestyle change that saw her lose more than half her weight.
Lyss Remaly weighed 350 pounds at just 21-years-old, with the young woman left breathless as she tried to walk up a flight of stairs at her apartment, even unable to put on her own bra.
But she said that the defining moment was when she was flying Las Vegas to New York to audition for an off-Broadway play and realised she couldn't fit in the airplane seat and needed an extender seat belt.
She said: "I was a secret eater. I lived the philosophy very similar to the idea if a tree falls down in the woods does it still make a sound? If a fat kid eats by herself does it still count? I said no and ate everything I wanted to eat by myself then would still go for dinner with my family and friends.
"I lived in Las Vegas where everything is open 24 hours and is so accessible anytime you want it."
Hawaiin pizzas and Chinese takeaway as some of her favourite foods
Ms Remaly said her eating habits were out of control
She said: "I would cook a full box of flaked mashed potatoes with cheese
butter and sour cream and sit and eat the whole thing."
the young woman made a list of all her "terrible habits"
She said: "I had a whole life I wanted to live
Despite undergoing bariatric surgery in 2010
she said she needed to change her eating and exercise habits to fully improve her health
She said the most exercise she had done for years was walking from the car to her door, using the Bodyspace app to keep her motivated
the now 28-year-old said she filled her diet with eggs
The young woman also followed the Jamie Eason Live Fit 12-week trainer plan.
Now weighing 135 pounds and a bariatric coach herself
Lyss said one of the most important things for people hoping to lose weight was to be honest with themselves
She said: "You can tell people anything you want but the only person you are cheating is yourself
"Work really hard and keep your goal in mind

Really Happy) With Being AloneAccording to TikTok’s Lyss Boss
With over 1 million followers across platforms, a growing self-love podcast called Date Yourself Instead, and endless comparisons to Carrie Bradshaw, Lyss Boss (@lyss) is beyond making a name for herself
The Miami-based content creator has become an advice guru — especially for those who are embracing alone time for the first time
Known for her solo travel adventures and inspirational videos
the 30-year-old has no shortage of lessons to share
the TikTok star explains what it’s really like to value solitude and how to flex that muscle
I knew I needed to learn how to be by myself
I thought about all the things I had been putting off because I was spending my energy and time focused on someone else
It can be so easy to lose yourself — and that’s not exclusive to romantic relationships
It applies to friendships and even your workplace
That’s why you have to develop a strong sense of self
You have to think: If those things were stripped away from you
Of course, that’s easier said than done. But for me personally, spending time alone was crucial to figuring out who I was — and who I want to be
It's not just about going to get a massage by yourself once in a while
It’s about integrating new habits into your daily life
These might be things you’d normally do with your partner
but doing it solo can actually be more fun
because you have the freedom to come and go anywhere as you please
To kickstart this new era after my breakup, I started doing some solo travel, first to Tulum and later to London
A new environment really is a fresh start: You're away from everything that you know
"How are you not anxious about doing all of this alone?" My response is: "I am." You have to give yourself time to settle in — but once you do
you open yourself up to new experiences and connections
Of course, going on a bunch of solo trips isn’t always in the budget, and one trip won’t change your life. I love this book called Wherever You Go, There You Are
but it’s about how wherever you are in the world
So, you have to make sure you like spending time with you. You can start with something simple: Go to dinner alone. My go-to is bringing a book (I love Journey To The Heart) and my headphones
I do an admittedly weird-sounding manifestation exercise
I write down how I envision my life — whether it’s a relationship or friendships
It’s comforting to envision that and to remind myself that I won’t be alone forever
This interview has been edited and condensed for clarity.

The sound quality was so different on both platforms that the woman was speechless.
"I almost just blew my eardrums out," Lyss began. "So I got these last night, the Beats Studio Pros and I was lowkey disappointed, I am not even going to lie." She added
I started playing music from my Apple Music and I thought am I losing my hearing

"What the hell is the difference between Apple Music and Spotify
Why is the sound quality terrible on Apple Music playing through Apple Headphones?" The woman continued

People took to the comments section to explain why they found the music quality better with Apple Music and what Lyss can do to fix the problem
"Apple Lossless audio is pretty good on my 700 dollar set up on my pc
Beats is a really bad way to compare sound quality lol
Gonna need a good pair of HiFi cans and amp/DAC for that."
@rondneyvillalon1 remarked, "I understand that Apple Music is considered "quality audio," but when I'm on my third mile of running, I need that ear-damaging music to reach into my soul for motivation!" @sethabrwon shared
"Spotify is lossy BUT they play at higher volume to make up for it
make sure you use the highest quality settings on whatever service."

one girl discovered that she would not have children or even go through puberty like many of her female friends would
A TikTok user named Lyss took to the platform to share her story about how her mother told her she would never be able to have children or go through puberty like an ordinary little girl
was shocked when her mother told her why she would never be able to do any of these things
Lyss' mother told her that she was born "biologically male" but was told to keep it a secret from her friends and family
which she did for many years until she shared the story on TikTok recently
Lyss shared that when she was younger, he mother had sat her down at their dining room table and told her they needed to have a serious talk
Lyss' mother told her she had been born with male anatomy but that she should keep that fact to herself
Being so young and finding out that she was born with both male and female anatomy caused Lyss distress, and she joked of the moment she learned about this for the first time:
"The wallpaper on the wall started to melt off."
Lyss's mother presented her with a folder of medical information accumulated to confirm that Lyss was intersex
meaning that a person was not distinctly male or female
she also told Lyss the information should remain private
Lyss's doctors also told her her gender was something she should not freely share with others
She confirmed that for most of her life, she had taken her mother and her doctor's advice, but then, after years of keeping the secret, she quipped:
talking to strangers on the internet about how I was born with balls in my belly."
Many people in the video's comments section wondered what it meant to be intersex
and why her mother would tell her to hide that fact from the people around her
Lyss explained that her mother had been right when she insisted her daughter keep her gender a secret
Lyss confirmed that her doctors and her mother had been right when they told her she should keep her gender to herself because she had been bullied when she shared it with others
she found it impossible to keep it a secret
so she went to school and told her friends about it
Although the bullying eventually stopped as she got older, Lyss received an outpouring of love and support for her videos. Many people told her that because of her, intersex children wouldn't feel so alone. Another person shared:
"I'd love to hear your opinion on how you think parents should handle this."
Many people have told Lyss that sharing her story was incredibly brave and that they admired her for sharing something so personal. Not only does Lyss share her story on TikTok, but she also has an Instagram page and a website dedicated to her journey of being intersex
While Lyss' TikTok is filled with videos of her talking about her life as an intersex person
with Lyss often sharing memes and funny photos of herself
She also uses the platform to empower herself by showing off and being proud of her body
Lyss' website is dedicated to helping other people who have had trouble feeling comfortable in their bodies. She is now a coach and yogi who does meditation sessions, which can be booked through her site
While Lyss learned that she would never be a mother in the traditional sense, another man changed his gender so he could be his children's mother. Read the full story here

This woman called Lyss posted a picture of herself on Instagram wearing a shirt belonging to her ex-boyfriend
And if she was hoping to irritate the heck out of him then she wasn’t disappointed
it wasn’t just the act of donning his shirt that wound him up so much
“I posted a picture on my insta in my ex’s shirt and let’s just say he probably won’t ask for it back again anytime soon,” said @alyssanikaye11
And there was a little bit more to the story after it went wildly – and we mean

Relationship dilemma of the week

In January of 2023, there were massive numbers of tech layoffs across numerous high-profile companies like Google
As a result, throngs of people were left out of work and frustrated, especially folks who, during the pandemic, engaged in the "Great Resignation" in the hopes of securing better employment pastures...only for many of them to regret their decisions after they found themselves out of work
One TikToker, Lyss (@lyssg717)
and was upset to discover that the first job she got out of college and had been with for three years decided to lay her off in spite of achieving $50 billion in sales the previous year
She decided to vent about it on social media
but rather by recording herself destroying her work laptop
smashing it repeatedly to the ground outdoors
I think the laptop was more than a fair trade #ihatecapitalism
"Pov: you're watching me react to getting laid off by a company who made 50 billion in sales last year," Lyss writes in a text overlay in her video that shows her lifting a laptop way above her head and then slamming it onto concrete
The video then transitions to a smash cut of her standing up on her toes only to throw the laptop on the ground yet again
pieces of the computer spiraling across the pavement
She does it once more before a final image of the laptop launching across the ground and slamming into the side of the house closes out the video
In a caption for the video she further clarifies how she feels about the company that fired her
writing: "I think the laptop was more than a fair trade #ihatecapitalism"
Viewers who saw the clip had a litany of different opinions on it, with one person writing that it reminded them of this famous film scene: "It’s giving Office Space vs the Printer"
Someone else in the comments section wanted to know how long she was working there that her firing elicited that strong of a response
they wrote: "How long did you work there?" to which Lyss responded: "3 yrs it was my first job out of college"
While another TikTok user thought the action was "more than fair," there were some folks who didn't think that it was necessarily the smartest move to make
like one individual who wrote: "They are going to take that out your last paycheck
Lyss says that she had already received her last paycheck from the company
but didn't rule out the possibility that they would send her an invoice for not returning the laptop after the fact: "My last paycheck has already been processed unless they’re sending me a bill"
Other folks had more subtle ways of getting back at their own companies for firing them
like one person who penned: "I just soaked it in water...and dried and put it back in the box..."
And there was one TikToker who said that they kept some of the equipment from their job as a form of "payback" for getting canned: "I kept my monitors and docking stations I’m getting something out of it"
it seems like she made sure to keep something for herself on her way out as well: "Yeah I have more office supplies but I needed to let out a little frustration"
Others offered up other helpful ways to get out of paying any potential bills that might come in the mail: "Just say someone stole your laptop out of your car
This video evidence doesn't seem like it'll help though
here's hoping someone at the company didn't catch it
Either that or Lyss could just outright refuse to pay it and hope that the company forgets about it
