Henry Pollock and his band of brothers pulled off a remarkable heist in Dublin on Leinster to make them believe anything's possible
South Africa scrum-half Cobus Reinach has signed for the Stormers ahead of next season
will return to play for a South African side after eight years in Europe
The 39-cap Springbok left the Sharks in 2017 to join Northampton Saints in the Gallagher Premiership, where he swiftly became a fan favourite. After three years at Franklin’s Gardens, Reinach moved to France to join the Top 14’s Montpellier
Reinach remains a fixture in Rassie Erasmus’ South Africa set-up, featuring from the bench in two of their three Autumn Nations Series matches against England and Wales
With his current side sitting in seventh place in the Top 14
the scrum-half will be looking to end his time abroad on a high before returning to his homeland
“It will obviously be great for my family and I to return home, but what is just as exciting for me is to join a team playing such a great brand of rugby,” Reinach said.
“I know a lot of the DHL Stormers players well and I feel that I have a lot to offer within their game model
so I am looking forward to connecting with my new teammates and coaches when I move down to Cape Town at the end of the season.”
Stormers director of rugby John Dobson added: “Cobus has proven himself a threat at the highest level of the game and we are expecting him to fit in seamlessly here
“He is a double World Cup winner and his considerable experience will be vital as we develop the next generation of young talent, with the likes of Imad Khan and Asad Moos set to benefit greatly from working closely with him
but he is also a player with great rugby IQ
and given his knowledge of European conditions and opposition he will provide plenty of value on and off the pitch.”
If fielding 51 South Africa players in 2024
there are plenty more players that Rassie Erasmus could select this year
He must be the last Springbok in the Top 14
Most of the Top 14 clubs have realised that it is certainly not a good deal having Boks as they disappear between July and November and then have to rest or are injured
They disappear for all the season in Top 14

What country do you come from
If youre going to throw shade on Ireland identify yourself
Too much of a coward to reveal your homeland
Leinster won the ERC in 2018 plus a few URCs since
Leinster have been in 16 semi finals and won 8
Toulouse have been in 17 semi-finals and won 6
Considering Ireland and Irish teams could count the number of wins they won in the 90s in one hand we will take that
Not enough for an arrogant guy like you too ch1cken sh1t to reveal his country I guess
You’ve got to feel sorry for the lad

I did not know how to get it back or where to start

Another reason for Jordie Barrett
He has not been involved in any of those losses
He is more likely to keep his thinking cap on and not slide down the well worn mud slide to panic that Henshaw was muddied the back of his shirt/shorts with several times in recent years
NH were not going to win that match in the second half
They needed a decent lead from teh 1st half to try and hold
Judging from a few years of poor end game match management my hunch is that sorting it out has fallen between the stools of Cullen-Nienaber and previously Cullen-Lancaster
That’s a finger pointing right at Cullen as overall manager
The lack of big (challenging) matches could also have been mitigated by Leinster by doing a stress test on potential weaknesses
NH obviously did such a test and emerged with a bit of an array of attacking opportunities and as NB has said ways to diminish the rush D
Agree

So how many big tournament has Leinster/ Ireland won in the last 6/7 year
Even with them being the so called favourites
You can’t argue the fact that Irish rugby has an issue when it comes to closing out big games……
as for my team/country we have won more WC’s than Ireland made it past a QF…….Stop making excuses and just except that Irish rugby teams choke and wear that tag proudly……you have earned it!
…so you’ve finally given up farting against thunder in the face of overwhelming evidence on how cocksure Leinster fell flat on their arses then??

Springboks scrum-half Cobus Reinach says that the squad won’t be guiding rookie fly-half Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu in his first start against the All Blacks at Ellis Park
Feinberg-Mngomezulu has been one of the finds of the year and is bound to be in the running for the World Rugby Breakthrough Player of the Year after making his debut against Wales at Twickenham and featuring in every Springboks’ Test so far this year
he will face his most daunting task yet as he earns his first cap against South Africa’s fiercest rival New Zealand
The pressure will be on the young 10 with ex-Springboks skipper John Smit previously quoted as saying: “As a Springbok
Your first ever game in the green and gold and your first game against the All Blacks.”
Despite this, Reinach explains that while Feinberg-Mngomezulu has the backing of the squad
he and other experienced squad members will not be “guiding” him through his first clash with the All Blacks
“There is no guiding him and no pressure
we’re all going to go out there to do our job,” the experienced Bok nine
who will also be earning his first start against the All Blacks
“I’m backing him to go out there and do his job and he is backing me to do my job
Once you start focusing on guiding and helping a guy out
you forget about your own job and that’s the most important thing
there is complete faith and confidence in everyone to just go out there and do their job.”
David Campese: Joe Schmidt must follow lead of Springboks ‘coaching genius’ Rassie Erasmus as ‘banana skin’ awaits Wallabies
Springboks boss Rassie Erasmus said that it would be stupid not to select Feinberg-Mngomezulu against New Zealand after he impressed in each of his Test matches so far this year
Erasmus added that there would be mistakes from the youngster but that he would learn from them
There is a video going around of him at 13 years old in front of a load of people and there is no lack of confidence and you can see it
and express himself and he has the confidence to do it,” he said
he has got the whole squad behind him and supporting him
he knows that we are all backing him and we don’t care if that mistake happens – we will fix it
one man doesn’t make a team and if we all go together and help each other
fix where someone went wrong then it’s going to be tough to beat.”

Top 14 outfit Montpellier are reportedly chasing the signature of DHL Stormers scrumhalf Herschel Jantjies
A week removed from being linked with All Black scrumhalf Finlay Christie
Joan Caudullo’s squad are now chasing the signature of the Springbok halfback
According to a report in French media outlet Midi Olympique
the south of France based club would be bringing in Jantjies as a replacement for fellow Springbok Cobus Reinach
The 34-year-old Reinach has been linked with a move away from the club at the end of the season and has led to the speculation of the club being linked to the two big name nines
Jantjies who made the last of his 25 Springbok appearances remains a key player for the Stormers at 28-years-old
featuring in the Cape Town sides’ based two matches again Munster and Glasgow
Springboks scrum-half Cobus Reinach believes that he has another World Cup left in him and reveals how he has managed to retain his rapid pace
Reinach earned his Test debut for the Springboks all the way back in 2014 and hopes to extend his international career through to the 2027 World Cup where he hopes to earn his third tournament appearance after missing out on 2015
The veteran nine is set to earn his fourth cap against the All Blacks at Ellis Park in round three of the Rugby Championship in what will be his first start against the old foe
At the age of 34, Reinach is in the twilight of his career but the Springbok has remarkably kept much of his rapid pace which will serve him well in his pursuit of featuring in a third tournament
In 2015, Reinach was overlooked by former head coach Heyeneke Meyer for the World Cup squad with an ACL injury robbing him of the opportunity to fight his way back into the side the following year
That is when the number nine opted to take a deal with Northampton Saints
which effectively ruled him out of Bok selection due to SA Rugby’s eligibility criteria at the time which Reinach fell short of
“It was tough in 2015 when I didn’t make it
It’s every player’s dream to make a World Cup and the year after it just felt like I needed a change,” Reinach said ahead of the clash at Ellis Park
“So I made the decision to see the world a bit and play in a different culture and at that stage
I never gave up on being a Springbok again
“Never gave up on the hope of going to the next World Cup
even though it didn’t look very bright because of the cap rule that came in at that time
“But I was still supporting them and sitting in the pubs every time they played
and following them because I still wanted to be there
Rassie came in and the rules changed and Northampton were good to me and I played well enough for them to earn a selection.”
Cobus Reinach: There is no ‘guiding’ Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu in the Springboks squad
Bok head coach Rassie Erasmus has been rather loyal with his selection over the years with few players really being dropped from the squad entirely after impressing
Reinach reinforced that point knows what is required of him if he hopes to extend his career to Australia 2027
“Once you get in the squad with Rassie and you do your part by giving your all and you are the kind of squad player that he needs – like you see now with all the rotations in the lineup – you are going to stay there and be there for as long as you keep on doing it,” he added
“Luckily I have been here long enough to play two World Cups and win them but it’s not over yet
there is one more left for me I think.”
Reinach believes his speed is all in the genes with his father Jaco Reinach being a former South African sprinter and Springboks winger
“I just don’t like to be tackled
I try to get away from them,” Reinach joked when asked how he has retained his speed
I think I’m lucky with my dad being fast and it being in my blood but it is something that I work hard at and if you neglect it
it is something that we constantly working on.”
Springboks scrum-half pinpoints the ‘difference’ between All Blacks nines Aaron Smith and TJ Perenara
Reinach is another addition to the longlist of gifted scrum-halves who have donned the Springboks number nine jersey and he aims to add to that legacy before hanging up his boots
“There have been unbelievable players like Joost [van der Westhuizen] and Fourie [du Preez]
when you put that jersey on you do want to make it your own and express yourself on the field and do the things that you are good at,” he said
“But the only thing I try to think about is wanting to leave it in a better place or add another little tick on it that someone else also thinks ‘I have to add more’ so that the jersey grows with you in it and once you are gone.”

Cobus Reinach will return to South Africa next season
Scrum-half Cobus Reinach admits “there is history” between the Springboks and England ahead of their Autumn Nations Series clash at Allianz Stadium
The sides last met during the 2023 Rugby World Cup and it was at the semi-final stage where South Africa came out on top thanks to a come-from-behind 16-15 victory
Since then the Springboks have gone from strength to strength after lifting the Webb Ellis Cup and followed that up this year with Rugby Championship silverware
In contrast, England are enduring a difficult period in terms of results, with Steve Borthwick’s struggling side having lost six out of their last 10 international matches
Reinach
is expecting to face a wounded animal this weekend as he looks ahead to the game and recalled their 2023 semi-final clash when talking to the media
“Every Test match is a special game and has its own rivalry
although our last match against England was close in the World Cup semi-final
and then of course we faced them in the 2019 Rugby World Cup final
so there is history between the teams,” said the Boks scrum-half
who did not play in last week’s win over Scotland
Prominent British critic hits out at ‘arrogant’ Rassie Erasmus as World Rugby urged to ‘defuse Springboks Bomb Squad’
“We definitely expect to face a team wanting to win this weekend
especially after suffering defeats in their last two games
so the important thing for us will be to stick to our structures and focus on what we want to do on the field.”
South Africa enter Saturday’s showdown at Twickenham off a six-day turnaround but that is something that excites Reinach as he offered a positive in-house update
“Obviously this is a compressed week for us
so we’ll certainly prepare well for the Test this weekend,” he said
Rassie Erasmus will announce his squad for the Test on Thursday and assistant coach Tony Brown admitted his boss “always has an overall plan in mind” for England
“It’s always tough with a short turnaround because you lose a training day
so the players need to adapt,” said Brown
we are doing our best to ensure that they are fresh physically and mentally for the match.”

Springboks scrum-half Cobus Reinach is backing Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu to shine in his first start for South Africa against Australia at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday and is keen to see how the new law variations impact the game
Feinberg-Mngomezulu has been the breakout star for the Boks this year impressing in his first four appearances for the side
earning him a place in the Rugby Championship opener against the Wallabies in Brisbane
He links up with double World Cup-winning scrum-half Reinach
who retains the starting number nine jersey from the win over Portugal
It’s a bold selection choice from Rassie Erasmus and his coaching staff, but 22-year-old Feinberg-Mngomezulu has oozed class in his debut international season and has an experienced backline around him on Saturday with five of his fellow backs having played at least 30 Tests with all six winning the World Cup at least once
Reinach will partner with Feinberg-Mngomezulu for the first time
a fact that does not concern the number nine who believes that combinations gel quickly in training
“I haven’t played with him as a nine and ten but the whole week he has shown that he’s got a rugby head on him,” the Springboks scrum-half said
“He’s a young boy but he’s hugely talented and I’m really excited for him to go out there and express himself
“He has got the backing of the 22 other players and the rest of the squad to just go out there be himself and enjoy the moment
Reinach added: “I think he is going to do well
he’s going to pull a few strings and create a few opportunities.”
Who is Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu? Get to know the Springboks’ latest prodigy
Saturday’s game will also feature new law variations that SANZAAR have signed off on for the Rugby Championship
a countdown clock for set pieces and kicks and laws that will protect the scrum-halves at the back of mauls
Reinach believes that this will provide the number nines with a few extra steps before making their pass and will clean up the game overall
Rassie Erasmus: Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s start is ‘definitely a sign of the future’
With Tony Brown’s attacking structures starting to show on the Springboks
fast ball from the rucks does excite the veteran nine
“We’ll find out on the weekend how the law changes have affected us or will affect us but I think it’s cleaning up the game around the ruck a little bit
which will allow the nines to get a step or two out and attack the line before we choose our option,” he explained
you don’t want to run anyway so it doesn’t really matter and it’s just how we plan for that week and how we want to attack that week and what we want to do
“I’m excited to see how quickly we can get the ball away.”
READ MORE: Rassie Erasmus: ‘Old school’ Joe Schmidt ‘putting pressure on referees’ with Springboks officiating claim
Cobus Reinach believes that the Springboks will face a ‘different threat’ in the form All Blacks scrum-half TJ Perenara from the one that Aaron Smith posed
It’s the first time since Smith’s retirement that South Africa and New Zealand do battle with the All Blacks’ great playing his final international in the World Cup final against the Springboks last year
Smith is the most capped All Blacks‘ nine of all-time representing his country 125 times with Perenara providing cover for him for much of that time
This year, Scott Robertson has backed the experienced Perenara in the starting role and it is he who will don the number nine jumper against the Springboks on Saturday at Ellis Park
While Smith’s departure from the black jersey has been a blow for New Zealand
Bok nine Reinach believes that Perenara has his own strengths and pinpointed the difference between the pair
Aaron and TJ are very different players,” Reinach said when asked about the pair
“Aaron has got a pass that will go miles
he is a bit more of a running nine.”
All Blacks winners and losers: Leadership vital for Scott Robertson as Sam Cane seeks to ‘exact revenge’ on Springboks
Reinach added that with Smith at scrum-half
the All Blacks’ fly-halves would get a great platform to attack from but even after his retirement
the All Blacks have not been forced into changing their approach much
This is because he believes that the quality in the New Zealand backline means that they have threats all over the park
“I don’t think their game has changed too much in what they want to do things,” Reinach added
Springboks v All Blacks at Ellis Park: The stats behind rugby’s greatest rivalry at the iconic ground
“They have X-factor everywhere and now they have another one at nine trying to break through and go around the fringes – a different threat you have to be aware of
he is looking forward to the opportunity of tackling the Springboks in what could be the final two matches in South Africa with the halfback set to hang up his Test boots at the end of the year
“It’s a massive opportunity for us to come to Ellis Park play against a really good to team and at one of the tough stadiums in the world
so we’re excited about that opportunity,” Perenara said

Feinberg-Mngomezulu will run out in the No 10 jersey against the Wallabies in the opening Test of the Castle Lager Rugby Championship at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on Saturday
with the experienced Reinach saying the entire team have the flyhalf’s back and want him to go out there and showcase his true talent
The Test will be Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s fifth in the green and gold jersey and will mark his first start
but the young pivot will be surrounded by several Rugby World Cup-winners
to guide him and allow him to express himself
“I haven’t really played alongside him (Sacha) yet
but he’s shown that he’s got a good rugby head
and that he’s a hugely talented player with that X-factor
so we want to see him go out there and enjoy the occasion,” said Reinach
who made his Bok debut almost a decade ago against Australia in Cape Town
so he just needs to go out there and be himself.”
With the Springboks currently holding the ranking as the No 1 team in the world – eight positions above Australia who are in ninth place – Reinach said that statistic
along with the Wallabies’ good track record against the Springboks on their home turf
would only make them hungrier to make a strong statement
especially since they are going in search of their fifth win in a row
so we need to go out there and execute our game plan as effectively as possible,” he said
“There was a time when we also dropped down the world rankings and didn’t play good rugby
but that just made us more desperate as a team
and Australia is now in a similar situation
it’s vital that we stick to our structures and pitch up mentally and physically.”

Springbok prop Ox Nche also expected a big battle in the scrums
saying: “Their scrummaging can be very unpredictable

so it will be important for us to get go-forward and try to dominate that area of the game
so we have to be prepared for anything they throw at us.”

Reinach will join forces with exciting young flyhalf Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, with the pair bearing the big responsibility of dictating play against the New Zealand duo of TJ Perenara and Damian McKenzie

Double Rugby World Cup winner Cobus Reinach will return from injury for Montpellier this weekend when they travel to Toulouse in the Top 14
South Africa's Reinach suffered a rib problem in the win over Bayonne three weeks ago and will partner former Scotland captain Stuart Hogg at half-back on Saturday
will leave Montpellier at the end of the season after five campaigns to join the Stormers
who will be without 10 players away with France preparing for the upcoming Six Nations
The Stormers have added a Springbok to their roster
Double World Cup-winning Bok utility back Cobus Reinach will boost the Stormers squad when he joins the fold ahead of the 2025/26 season
will make his return to South Africa at the end of the current season having played in England and France for the last seven years
Known for his explosive pace and pinpoint delivery
Reinach also brings a wealth of experience in European conditions with him to Cape Town
Director of Rugby John Dobson said that Reinach’s profile fits perfectly with the style of play which the Stormers are known for
“Cobus has proven himself a threat at the highest level of the game and we are expecting him to fit in seamlessly here ]in Cape Town]
“He is a double World Cup winner and his considerable experience will be vital as we develop the next generation of young talent
with the likes of Imad Khan and Asad Moos set to benefit greatly from working closely with him,” Dobson said
“His attacking abilities are well-known
but he is also a player with great rugby IQ and given his knowledge of European conditions and opposition he will provide plenty of value on and off the pitch,” he added
Reinach said that he is thrilled to be returning to South Africa to play for the Stormers
“It will obviously be great for my family and I to return home
but what is just as exciting for me is to join a team playing such a great brand,” Reinach said
“I know a lot of the Stormers players well and I feel that I have a lot to offer within their game model
so I am looking forward to connecting with my new teammates and coaches when I move down to Cape Town at the end of the season,” he added
Stormers Rugby CEO Johan le Roux said that attracting the interest of a top player like Reinach shows that the project is moving in the right direction
“Cobus is a premier talent and we are thrilled to have someone of his quality coming in to bolster our squad
“While the primary focus will always be on developing local talent
it is also important that our coaching staff are on the lookout for strategic acquisitions at the top end of the game that will help take us forward,” he said

They say it takes a village to raise a child
After our experience and outpouring of love and offers of assistance for our mom
we would venture to say that "it takes a village to care so lovingly for our elder members."
indeed Key Biscayne village and its "Key Rat" citizens were her family
She cared so much for each and every person
She felt blessed to be a part of such a wonderful community
she was a devoted mother to her "Key Family" and helping it grow
She organized and then led the Key Biscayne Republican Woman's Club
and later became the Dade County Republican Party Finance Chairman
among them dearest Congresswoman Ilean Ros Lehtinen and Senator Connie Mack
and encouraged their appreciation for our village
She also was passionate about contributing to the community and served as an example that donating one's time was no less
We remember her walking the streets of Key Biscayne with us – door to door – to raise funds for the Heart Association
She helped us sell Girl Scout Cookies and raise funds to buy soccer shirts
As many of you know, she also shared the joys raising her”fourth child” – Miami Bridge – to its residents so that you all
could share in her love for this extremely important venture
many of the people she helped she considers her children as well
She helped host community Passover Seders as well as host in our home the annual Yom Kippur Break the Fast
She also loved hosting the annual Republican Woman's Christmas Parties
Before it became in vogue to do public relations
she helped develop and weave relations between residents and local commerce by serving as Public Relations Director for Key Colony and Sonesta Hotel
as these businesses learned to contribute back to the community that hosts them
She of course was courageous in many ways. While being a single parent of two kids may be daunting enough, later in life she sky-dived twice – to raise awareness and funds for Miami Bridge
she hosted Spring Break for our friends in our two-bathroom home
(that is love) as well as numerous birthday parties and bar-b-q's for all our friends
She built a home that everyone felt welcomed and could drop by for a chat or a beer
are the ultimate example that not only does community exist
but also that a community can be a caring family
We are truly grateful that my mom - most of her life
and especially during the last stage of her journey with us - was surrounded by such a wonderful community that indeed was like family
our mom quoted Auntie Mame: "Life is like a banquet and some poor souls are starving out there." We believe she meant this saying in two ways: We should all live our life to the fullest
we will soon organize a "celebrate her life" event

"If I am doing something I'm doing it because I am interested in it," Reinach said
"I put a lot of pressure on myself to be the best at everything that I do and I work my hardest at the things that I am most interested in."
That holds true for throwing, a skill he will continue to hone at one of the country's most prestigious universities. This fall, the 6-foot-3, 240-pound Reinach will head to Duke University, where he will compete in track and field as a thrower while studying astrophysics on an academic scholarship
A Duke sports fan for much of his life
Reinach will be suiting up for the Blue Devils
Oregon – the home of the University of Oregon – for the Nike Nationals track meet at famed Hayward Field.
Reinach is the first thrower from Natick to ever compete at Nationals.
"They talk about Hayward Magic," Reinach said
"It was so cool to compete in a world class facility like that and to throw in the same throwing circle where the world record was set by Ryan Crouser at the US Olympic trials last year."
set the mark with a throw of 23.37 meters (or 76 feet
For Reinach, getting to Oregon wasn't easy
When Reinach was in middle school he joined the track and field team
his coach suggested he try javelin instead.
He found success and made states his junior year of high school
he learned he had torn his ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his right elbow
He opted against undergoing Tommy John surgery – a procedure most commonly associated with baseball players (specifically pitchers) – and instead decided to do other throwing events like discus and shot put which do not have the same throwing motion as javelin.
"The recovery time would have been too long for my liking," said Reinach
"So I decided to no longer compete in javelin and do other throwing events instead."
That ability to bounce back from adversity – tearing his UCL – and instead just moving onto the next event has made him the ideal athlete to compete in track and field.
"The most impressive thing about Jacob is his persistence," said Kassidy Gallagher
a 2019 Natick High grad and current University of Alabama thrower
"The thing about track is that it can be tedious work
There are a lot of two steps forward, but then five steps back and a lot of kids get frustrated
But Jake views it as a challenge and an opportunity to get better and not so much as a setback."
Gallagher began her collegiate track career at Assumption College
where she was introduced to the weight and hammer throw. She found immediate success
recognized her potential and through her guidance advised her to transfer to a much more competitive environment
Gallagher is a rising junior with the Crimson Tide
Gallagher finished third in the hammer throw at the Southeastern Conference (SEC) meet and was named to second team All-SEC.
She has taken that expertise and helped mentor Reinach when back home in Natick.
"Kassidy in my opinion is one of the most knowledgeable people in the throwing world," Reinach said
"She doesn't sugarcoat things and tells it like it is
She has this incredible ability to pick things apart
"She will look at my throws and will point out the little things that I am doing wrong
sometimes it's things that I don't even notice and we will keep working on it until I get it right."
Gallagher has also helped out as a volunteer assistant coach for the last two years at her alma mater
"She coached our throwers last spring in 2021," Natick boys track and field coach Matt Miller said.
Not only is Gallagher invaluable to Reinach in the throwing circle
she was of great help as he went through the recruiting process
"She has so many connections within the college track community," Reinach said
"She talks to so many different coaches and helped me get into contact with those coaches
She also helped me navigate through coach-speak since they talk so vague and can't really tell you what they are thinking."
this longtime Blue Devils fan found his home in Durham.
"The coach at Duke (Shawn Wilbourn) saw something in me and I think him saying that made me really excited about Duke," Reinach said
"Him giving me an opportunity and once I was offered an academic scholarship and was guaranteed a spot on the team
it really solidified Duke as the place that I wanted to go."
it's a standout bullet point on the résumé for Reinach

The Boks said on Friday the matter was with French authorities
“Obviously we are aware of the situation with Cobus and his family,” Stick said
“The players do their job to make sure they represent their country
All the players were on the field and we are here to represent South Africa
the French authorities will have to deal with it
we will make sure we protect each other as a team
we don’t have a place for that in our game.”
He’s got his family around him,” Stick said
“I must also give credit to the French (organizers)
So I don’t think at the moment there is something to worry about because we know for sure we are well-protected in our camps.”

It hasn’t been announced by the DHL Stormers yet but Bayonne’s announcement on Tuesday seems confirmation enough that Herschel Jantjies won’t be continuing with the Cape franchise next season.
The French Top 14 club announced on their social media feeds that Jantjies will be joining them for two seasons.
“The South African halfback will join us next season for two seasons. He will bring his international experience to the club,” the Bayonne release stated.
Scrumhalf is an area where there has been a lot of speculation around the Stormers recently. It was understood that the Stormers were for a while working on getting the Emirate Lions’ Sanele Nohamba, a former Hollywoodbets Sharks player and product of the KZN schooling system, to move to the Cape next season but Nohamba’s asking price was reportedly too high.
It was also rumoured that the other regular Stormers scrumhalf, Paul de Wet, was being sought after by the Bulls. Some expected that move to be made this season, but De Wet had another year left on his contract.
On the other side of the balance sheet, the other player mentioned as a possible acquisition is current Bok scrumhalf Cobus Reinach, who has played overseas since leaving the Sharks nearly a decade ago.
Reinach joined Jantjies in playing a supporting role at scrumhalf for first choice Faf de Klerk at the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan, and scored a hattrick of tries in one of the pool matches.
Jantjies had burst onto the scene with a brilliant performance against Australia at the start of that World Cup year, scoring two tries in a comfortable win before scoring the try that enabled the Boks to draw with the All Blacks in Wellington two weeks later.
He arguably didn’t really kick on from there though, and was considered fortunate to retain his place in the match day squad ahead of Reinach for the big games at that World Cup.
That season, 2019, was his breakthrough season at all levels, and he was selected off his good performances for Robbie Fleck’s Stormers team in that year’s Super Rugby.
The 28-year-old has never quite regained that form, and the last of his 25 appearances for the Boks was in August last year and he was not selected for the World Cup in France.
The player in his position who is expected to come through at the Stormers and is considered to have a particularly bright future is young Imad Khan, a 20-year-old product of Bishops who has impressed for the Junior Springboks and has already played Currie Cup rugby for Western Province.
The uncertainty around the scrumhalf position outside of Khan’s huge potential at the Stormers is in stark contrast to the wealth of riches the franchise has at flyhalf.
They have three players on their books who have worn the Bok No 10 jersey in Manie Libbok, Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu and Damian Willemse, while Jurie Matthee has produced some impressive performances in that position at both Super Rugby and Currie Cup level.

RADARUSPS worker takes religious rights case to Supreme Court after forced to work Sundaysby The National Desk
A postal worker is taking his religious rights case to the Supreme Court after he was forced to work on Sundays
Lead counsel and Executive Director of the Church-State Council Alan Reinach joined The National Desk's Jan Jeffcoat Friday morning to discuss the issue
The man is a rural postal carrier in Lancaster
Pennsylvania and was asked to work holidays and coverother shifts in order to have Sundays off
Sundays were not a part of the program because USPS didn't have the Amazon contract yet
The USPS began delivering packages on Sunday and he was exempt from working but that quickly ended
"The post office is uniquely committed to treating everybody exactly the same and never making any exceptions for anyone
So even though the postmaster could easily schedule around
Higher-ups insisted that they keep him on and when he would call off on Saturdays
that's when they ran into difficulty on occasion," Reinach said
Reinach says Groff had to go through counseling and "progressive" discipline and was on the verge of being fired when he resigned in order not to have a termination on his federal employment record
federal law has required that employers have to reasonably accommodate the religious beliefs and practices of their workers
the Supreme Court held that they are excused if the accommodation would cause even minimal hardship
