February 17: Railway Union enjoyed a fantastic weekend of European indoor hockey as they competed in the 2025 EuroHockey Club Indoor Trophy
the second highest European indoor club competition
Railway secured a fifth-place finish overall having come third in their preliminary pool and topping their crossover pool
securing a 6–1 victory over Portuguese side Deportivo De Viso on Thursday with Lily Lloyd and Orla Patton grabbing a brace each
and Orla Fox and Ailish Long also on the scoresheet
A close encounter with Swiss side HC Rotweiss Wettingen later that day saw Railway lead on two occasions but a second half surge from Wettingen eventually saw them prevail 4-2
Railway Union played KS Hokeh Start Brzeziny
Railway had to come from behind on two separate occasions to eventually share the points with the Polish side
The draw saw Railway finish third in their pool and progress to Pool C
consisting of the third and fourth place sides from both Pool A and B
Railway secured a tight 3-2 win over Italy’s Milano
A first quarter brace from Ailish Long gave Railway a 2-0 lead that they defended until the final quarter
A goal from Milano halved the deficit with two minutes still to play
but Matilde Errico restored the two-goal cushion less than a minute later
A 40th minute goal from Milano proved just to be a consolation
Their final game of the competition pitted them against HAHK Mladost
After a scoreless first quarter Lily Lloyd got Railway off the mark in Q2 before Matilde Errico made it 2-0 going into half-time
Orla Patton grabbed Railway’s third goal from a penalty corner
Railway’s Orla Fox grabbed the fourth goal for Railway in Q4 to seal the victory
Railway Union’s wins in Pool C meant they topped the pool and secured a fifth-place finish overall
The side scored an impressive 18 goals across the competition
with Lily Lloyd and Orla Patton both netting five times each
Railway Union will now turn their focus to European Indoor Hockey in 2026 and a seventh successive defense of their National Indoor Trophy

RVBW (Baden-Wettingen Regional Transport in Switzerland), after extensive testing, opted for the Mercedes eCitaro including its charging infrastructure as a turnkey solution
Baden-Wettingen Regional Transport (Regionalen Verkehrsbetriebe Baden-Wettingen – RVBW) AG in the Swiss canton of Aargau is continuing to implement its e-strategy with ten Mercedes-Benz eCitaro electric bus vehicles
The locally CO2-neutral solo low-floor buses will be delivered next year
Daimler Buses as the general contractor will deliver the complete e-mobility system as a turnkey solution
including the entire charging infrastructure
RVBW’s ambitious objective is to be a climate neutral company by 2030
To this end the bus fleet will be completely converted to e-mobility
E-buses are equipped with five stacks of nickel-manganese-cobalt batteries with a total energy content of 490 kWh
The batteries are charged in the depot using infrastructure-incorporated top-down pantographs and the high-power contact rail on the top of the vehicle
The Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS) for audible environmental protection warns passers-by of the approach of the silent electric buses
Drivers also receive maximum assistance for their work
This starts with an air-conditioned seating area and also includes video surveillance of the passenger compartment
an electrically adjustable inside rearview mirror

RVBW’s line 5 runs between Baden Baldegg and Ennetbaden through dense residential areas en-route and the main hub for bus and rail services in the city center
Clean and quiet journey through residential areasThis bus line serves mainly densely populated urban areas
«This is exactly the reason why we’re now fully electrifying this bus line,» explains Stefan Kalt
«Residents will benefit directly because electric buses don’t produce harmful emissions and emit significantly less noise compared with diesel fuel powered buses.» Furthermore
e-buses can recuperate braking energy on the two downhill segments
which recharges the energy storage system.
Gradual fleet electrification by 2030In 2018
RVBW’s Board of Directors decided to gradually transition to a full electric bus fleet by 2030
«We will phase out existing diesel-powered buses which have reached the end of their service life and replace those with new electric buses
Urban routes are best suited for electrification and will therefore be prioritized.» However
with the acquisition of new buses and the installation and expansion of charging options
bus operation will become increasingly complex
and working processes will need to be adapted to the new circumstances
and a local partner with industry expertise like ABB is needed
Drivetrain solution provided by ABBFor line 5
RVBW acquired four electric buses from Swiss bus manufacturer HESS
These low-floor buses of the type «lighTram» measure 12 meters in length and feature ABB drive technology – specifically a permanent magnet motor that is powered by a traction inverter
The energy storage system mounted on the roof is also provided by ABB
manufactured in ABB’s production site in Baden that was opened at the end of 2019
Increased passenger spaceThis roof installation creates additional space in the passenger compartment
One bus can now carry up to 100 passengers
meaning an increase in passenger capacity by 30% compared with the previously used conventional buses
ABB charging stations installed at final stopsThe energy storage systems of the buses are recharged with an ABB fast-charging station at the final stops of the bus line at «Baldegg» and «Äusserer Berg»
The Pantograph Down system enables a quick and efficient charge of the electric bus by descending the pantograph from the charging station
and connecting to the energy storage system via rails on the roof of the bus
The energy storage is charged with 300 kilowatts for two to four minutes depending on the bus schedule without impacting the normal operation of the route
Optimally dimensioned depot charging solutionThe buses are fully charged overnight in the depot
for which ABB has provided two charging stations of type HVC 100 with two charge boxes each
They sequentially charge the buses with an output of 100 kilowatts
The bus drivers connect the four buses to the depot charge boxes during the night when the bus is not operating
One charging station first charges one bus
This means that each bus does not require its own charging station
and the grid connection can be optimized because the buses are not charged at the same time
ABB chosen as partner for the overall project«The electric buses are equipped with ABB drive technology
so we also chose ABB to supply the charging solutions and be our partner for the overall project»
ABB entered the EV charging market in 2010 and is a leading supplier of charging stations
Products include alternating current wall boxes for home installation and direct current quick-charge stations for highway rest stops and charging solutions for e-trucks and electric buses.
400 tons of CO2 savings per year«With the transition of line 5 to full electric operation
we will save 155,000 liters of diesel fuel and around 410 tons of CO2 every year»
emphasizing the ecological benefits of the electrification
Regionalwerke AG Baden (RWB) is supplying power to this line sourced from regional hydropower.
Financial contribution by Canton of AargauThe Canton of Aargau is contributing almost 1.5 million francs from the special financing of public transport infrastructure to the investment costs for the charging infrastructure of Baden Line 5

A Swiss farmer by the name of Hanspeter Benz won a competition allowing him to hang a small Pablo Picasso masterpiece in his barn for one day. The competition was held by Basel’s Fondation Beyeler—which is currently hosting a major Picasso exhibition—in conjunction with the telecommunications company Swisscom
There was a small unveiling ceremony attended by Picasso’s granddaughter Diana Widmaier-Picasso
For security purposes, a “smart frame” was installed around the painting that measured temperature and humidity, provided GPS location, and could sound an alarm should be there any “unauthorized movement.”
the Regional Transport Authority of Baden-Wettingen (RVBW) in the Swiss canton of Aargau has ordered ten Mercedes-Benz eCitaro buses for delivery next year
the order for Daimler Buses also includes the complete charging infrastructure at the depot
including the necessary conversions and charging management
RVBW’s three-door eCitaro buses contain five stacks of nickel-manganese-cobalt batteries with a total energy content of 490 kWh
The eCitaro is currently the best-selling bus in Germany
Mercedes-Benz was ahead of VDL with 251 eCitaro and MAN with 68 new electric bus registrations
The three manufacturers still seem to share the podium in this order

players came from all over the world to compete
but there were even some players from the US
One of the biggest rivalries for the day was the match between the Zurich Lions and Wettingen Wid. There were some really hard hits and solid defense as well. We also saw some awesome “shake and bake” scoring opportunities. Wettingen got over the line this time and walked away with the win.
We are a developing lacrosse nation working very hard to catch up to the rest of the world
We’ve got a mix of rookies and some experienced players but everyone has the same two goals – Grow the Game and be the best we can
We will do whatever it takes to get more experience and if this means travelling long distances to different countries for scrimmage matches then we’ll do it
The Swiss men’s competition is a little bigger. There are now seven men’s teams and two leagues (Division 1 and 2) and it’s growing by the day. The men’s National Team Squad will commence training in May preparing for the 2014 Denver World Games.
passionate and love the game just the like the rest of the Lacrosse world

The Wettingen women’s lacrosse team was founded in 2007 and was one of the first women’s teams in Switzerland
Since then it has continuously grown and now has about 30 members
Currently the women’s lacrosse league in Switzerland consists of four active teams, Wettingen, Zürich, Chur and St. Gallen with teams developing in Basel and Bern.
Since the sport is relatively new in Switzerland and the opponents are few
the team often travels to tournaments in the surrounding countries where they usually rank amongst the top 6 and they also seek to play against foreign teams as often as possible
They always appreciate new opponents from which they can learn to play better lacrosse
Their goal is not only to keep being the best team in Switzerland but also to continuously improve their game and to be able to establish themselves as a force to be reckoned with outside of Switzerland
They also help develop other teams in Switzerland to help the sport grow and hope to gain more players every year
the women’s lacrosse team from Wettingen travelled to Tübingen to play against the german team Neckarnixen
Before the game the two teams held a practice together where the players had an opportunity to get to know each other better and to get used to the weather and the turf conditions before the actual game
As it was below zero temperatures and it was snowing, the two teams agreed to play 3x20min games. For the Wettingen team this was a great learning opportunity to play against a different and more experienced team and it was viewed as practice to prepare for the coming season in which they expect to defend their national title.
This game was a chance to see where their weaknesses lie so they can work on them before the season begins and to try out new plays
Also newer players were introduced to the game and could play their first game without the pressure of having to win
which Wettingen lost with a final score of 5:8
The team had a lot of fun and really enjoyed playing against the Neckarnixen
They are looking forward to welcoming them in Wettingen soon for a rematch

A school teacher known only as Peter C has been accused of playing strip poker with his 12- to 13-year-old pupils and instructing them to watch porn for homework
of indecent behaviour at the school in Wettingen
“He used perverse language with the sixth graders and told them they had to watch pornographic films for homework,” the mothers said
Scalise also claims that Peter C touched her daughter’s bottom on one occasion
and that he encouraged strip poker during class
“He looked on passively as a girl in the class took her trousers off,” Scalise told the website
it has emerged that he also played strip poker with pupils during what should have been an arithmetic lesson
Headmaster Martin Villing said he had not been aware that this behaviour had been going on with the current class
but assured parents in November that he would do something about it
“A possible paedophile has been teaching our children for months and nothing has happened,” the angry mothers said
confirmed that Peter C has been on sick leave since early March
The official reason for his absence is burn-out
One of the affected pupils has now been transferred to a school in a neighbouring village

Die Kantonspolizei Aargau testet zurzeit die Software Precobs
Obwohl andere Korps gute Erfahrungen damit machen
An diesem Mittwochnachmittag sei alles ruhig
