Thanks to the courageous intervention of the driver and the petrol station attendant
a vehicle fire next to a petrol pump in Würenlos AG had a minor outcome
The car was next to the petrol pump when a flash fire broke out
The driver grabbed a fire extinguisher and
contained the fire to such an extent that the car could be rolled away from the gas pump
The fire department was then able to extinguish the fire completely
The roof above the petrol station was also damaged
The police suspect that the fire was caused by a technical defect

Throughout the house many seemingly benign details constitute direct links to Rondinone’s art practice

The house was created as a Gesamtkunstkwerk
"like a walk-in sculpture,” explains Rondinone
Sculptural still lifes quietly congregate on wall shelves
gently questioning what it means to make an architecture intended as a livable work of art
With the help of architects Andreas Fuhrimann and Gabrielle Hächler (AFGH)
Rondinone synthesized custom-built interiors with prefabricated exterior elements to create a hybrid space that is both sculpture and home
Throughout the nearly 3,900 square feet of living space
The one exception to this quietness: a vibrant-green staircase that leads from the ground floor entrance to the second floor’s gallery and studio space
The coziness and restraint are a sleight of hand thanks to which absurdity becomes conventional
Würenlos, a quaint village just north of Zürich. A narrow lane leads into a forest. Where the road ends and a dirt path begins, a metal gate opens to reveal the refuge of Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone
Raw concrete steps lead down to the front door of a pale house dug into the slope
the house’s lower story is scarcely visible
obscured by the striking cantilevered eaves of its corrugated fiber-cement roof
The overall impression is of a cross between a chalet
If descending to the entrance feels like an act of retreat
The hallway leads to a giant salon and dining room at the center of the building; its ceiling is over 12 feet high
and its huge French windows open onto a small meadow and the sound of a winding stream gently splashing in the distance
the smells and delicate colors of the Mediterranean-style garden permeate the entire property
For the house in Würenlos, which was completed earlier this year, Rondinone teamed up with Gabrielle Hächler and Andreas Fuhrimann, a duo of Zürich-based architects whose practice AFGH counts many art-world luminaries in its client list, among them art patron Maja Hoffmann, gallerist Eva Presenhuber, and artist Pipilotti Rist
“I wanted to create a house that was a Gesamtkunstkwerk
like a walk-in sculpture,” explains Rondinone
It is also a space where he and Giorno can live and work in peace
The artist and architects opted for a muted palette of colors and materials: unpainted engineered wood panels cover the façade in vertical stripes
natural wooden floors compliment the pale plaster on the walls
which was mixed with beeswax to give it a soft luster

Switzerland’s Dario Neuenschwander (top picture) hurtled his way to the front of the field in the FAI Drone Racing World Cup 2017
fighting off competition from 433 drone pilots from 37 countries
His overall score of 142 points put him ahead of Andreas Hahn of Germany
and French junior competitor Thomas Grout (pictured right)
who ended in third position after earning a total of 120 points
lives in the Swiss town of Würenlos and has been racing drones for just two years
He said: “I really enjoyed travelling around the world meeting great pilots while taking part in this unique event
Of the 75 junior pilots in the competition
victory went to overall bronze medallist Thomas Grout
He narrowly beat fellow junior Alejandro Zamora Cabanas of Spain
and Poland’s junior Jan Wielgosz with 115 points
Thomas Grout said: "I am delighted to finish in third place in the FAI World Cup
and am very proud to do that in the French colours
so I am pleased to have competed so well against them at the different competitions around the world
My congratulations to this year's winner: Dario."
FAI Drone Racing World Cup coordinator Bruno Delor said: “With three junior pilots to finish in the top five of the general placing is truly extraordinary and has probably never arrived in any other aeromodelling class World Cup
Their success demonstrates how quickly junior competitors can become extremely accomplished in this exciting young sport.”
The final results of this year’s FAI Drone Racing World Cup tournament were announced on November 22
Neuenschwander will be presented with the FAI Drone Racing World Cup Trophy - donated by the French Aeromodelling Federation - in Lausanne
Hahn and Grout will join him on the podium at the awards ceremony to receive their FAI medals and diplomas
This second edition of the FAI Drone Racing World Cup was even bigger and better than the first
An incredible 434 pilots from 37 countries took part in this year’s event – up from 229 pilots from 17 countries in 2016

with the 2017 Open Internacional Ciudad de Sevilla
Australia were among the countries to host events this year for this year’s World Cup
which culminated back where it started in Seville with La Rinconada earlier this month
competitors took part in a series of races in which they flew a multi-rotor drone with at least three power-driven propellers and weighing up to 1kg
The number of World Cup points awarded was dependant on the number of competitors taking part.
which took place in the Ukraine in June - was unable to be taken into account due to damage suffered by the results server during a heavy rain storm
Drone Racing is the most recent discipline governed by FAI
Multi-rotor FPV - or drone - racing competitions consist of successive races in which several (normally four) radio control model aircraft fight it out to be the fastest around a pre-determined circuit
The events can take place outside or indoor
The high-tech drones used are equipped with on-board video cameras that transmit images to headsets worn by the pilots
allowing them to steer the tiny aircraft around the race circuit
FAI promotes Drone Racing activities to the world
The Federation has recently awarded the organisation of the 1st FAI Drone Racing World Championship 2018 to Shenzhen
FAI is developing a global Drone Racing series that represents the Drone Racing community from grassroots to elite level

WHERE TO MEET Following the success of the last few years
the popular classic car meeting Lägern Classic is on the agenda for the fourth time on September 5
three- and four-wheeled classics start the cruise in Würenlos
This has been shown by the first editions of the Lägern Classic
The first editions of the Lägern Classic have shown this
Up to 900 cars and motorcycles and up to 5000 visitors met in Würenlos
it was clear to the organizing club that no classic event could take place
That is why the Lägern Classic Cruise was organized with start and finish in Würenlos
The route led around the Lägern - with around 250 old and youngtimers
Attractive prizes for the best photos In 2021
the two forms of meeting and cruise are now to be brought together
There will be a meeting on the premises of Huba Control AG in Würenlos
and there will be attractive prizes to be won on the Cruise with photo stalking around the Lägern
OC President Stefan Mathys: "We are confronted with two challenges
we don't know today what the situation will be in September
we have a different traffic situation on the event site."
Talking shop around aged vehicles In any case
Again there should be a rendezvous in Würenlos for the friends of old sheet metal
when the fairgrounds around Huba Control AG at Industriestrasse 17 open
Or you can marvel at one of the special exhibitions organized by the OC
Vehicles up to the year 2001 are eligible to participate

The police received several calls from other motorists saying that four sports car were driving “at extremely high speeds” on the A1 motorway in the direction of Bern
Police patrol units intercepted the offenders
They were reportedly driving at over 200 km/h
which is 80 km/h over the posted speed limit
were arrested and their vehicles confiscated
“After being questioned by the police, the four men were handed over to the public prosecutor's office,” Zurich police said in a press release
They are now awaiting sentencing and to find out how much they will have to pay to get their vehicles back and whether they will actually be allowed to drive them home
driving at 200 km/h in a 120-km/h zone (the usual speed limit on the country’s motorways) is considered a serious infraction
though this applies to residents of Switzerland only
motorists caught ‘seriously’ speeding on Swiss roads will be slapped with a fine of at least several hundred francs (and in many cases even more)
The fine can also be converted into a jail sentence

It’s never a good idea for foreigners to speed on Swiss roads

but consequences for those residing in Switzerland can be even more dire
the man had his request for Swiss citizenship denied because several year prior he was caught driving past a 40-km/h construction site at 80 km/h and was subsequently slapped with a 540-franc fine
The naturalisation committee took his careless driving to mean than the man was "not successfully integrated" to merit a Swiss passport
