an explosion occurred at an ammunition depot in the village of Boržiny in central Czechia
This was reported by ČTK Ceske Noviny.
According to media reports, the explosion occurred today at 08:45 local time at the STV Group factory warehouse in the Polička Svitavy district. This facility manufactures large-caliber ammunition and is involved in military equipment repairs and supplying spare parts.
Preliminary information indicates that one person has been severely injured and was airlifted to a hospital. People from nearby areas have been evacuated. There is no danger to local residents. Several nearby roads have been closed.
The likely cause of the explosion is a violation of the technological process. It is noted that the warehouse where the explosion occurred is not only used for storing but also for manufacturing large-caliber ammunition.
It is worth noting that the Czech Republic plays a key role in supplying ammunition to Ukraine, organizing large-scale purchases, and coordinating international initiatives for their production. The Czech government, together with its EU and NATO partners, launched a project to procure 155mm and 122mm artillery shells.
Czechia is also increasing its own ammunition production, particularly for artillery and armored vehicles. Czech defense companies are ramping up shell production and modernizing old Soviet-era stocks to supply them to Ukraine. This not only strengthens Ukraine's defense capabilities but also enhances Czechia's role in the European military-industrial complex.

Czech towns and villages can surprise. Even the lesser-known ones, upon closer acquaintance, turn out to hold many curiosities. Svitavy was such a place for me, as before my visit, it did not exist in my awareness, but it turned out to be a very interesting location!
but I got to know it enough to inspire myself and you to explore it
Svitavy is a city in the Czech Republic located in the Pardubice region
It is situated 78 kilometers from Olomouc and 69 kilometers from Pardubice
and the most interesting sites in the center are within walking distance
Svitavy lies in the Eastern Bohemia (Východní Čechy) region and serves as a good base for trips to the Orlické Mountains or the Czech-Moravian Highlands
The city was founded in the 12th century due to important trade routes in the area
and its driving force was the textile industry
Svitavy was almost completely destroyed by fire
the Valentin Oswald Ottendorfer Library was established in the city
Svitavy was incorporated into the Third Reich
the Germans living in the area were expelled
One of the unique places I had the pleasure of visiting was undoubtedly the Municipal Museum
The building of the museum is an architectural work deserving special attention – it was designed and erected at the initiative of the then mayor of Svitavy
The architecture of the building captures the attention of visitors from the first glance
being an excellent example of the style of the era in which it was built
The museum is surrounded by a historical atmosphere that allows you to pause in time and feel the spirit of history
The Municipal Museum welcomes guests from Tuesday to Friday
maintaining visitor-friendly opening hours
Morning hours from 9:00 to 12:00 are the perfect time for a calm exploration of the exhibits without rush and crowds
in the afternoon hours from 13:00 to 17:00
allowing visits for those who prefer afternoon tours
What pleasantly surprises in the context of the Municipal Museum is the affordability of ticket prices
A standard entrance ticket priced at just 20 CZK provides access to the museum’s rich cultural
is an attractive proposition for those entitled to discounts
A unique exhibition within the museum’s interiors is the “Great Laundry of Our Grandmothers” display
It is one of the largest exhibitions in the Czech Republic dedicated to the history of laundry and the devices used for this purpose over the years
it presents over 150 devices used for laundry
it is continuously enriched with new exhibits
The Municipal Museum also hosts temporary exhibitions
there was an exhibition on the prehistory of the Earth
along with information about different areas of the region’s geological past
but special tour scripts are also prepared for the youngest visitors
The moving nativity scene located in Svitavy is the pride of the city
Nativity scene traditions in the Czech Republic were once very strong
local communities fight to bring this craft back
Svitavy was once called the “City of Nativity Scenes,” and the one you will see in the museum is impressive
It is not made by a single author but is a collection of works by many
It is soon to have its place in a new facility – the Nativity Museum
which will be very close to the Municipal Museum
Svitavy is the city from which Oskar Schindler originated
while others emphasize that despite his actions
he was still part of the “Nazi machine.”
Two places in the city remind us of the figure of Oskar Schindler
The first is an exhibition at the Municipal Museum
the exhibition “In Search of the Star of David – Oskar Schindler – Righteous Among the Nations” was opened
which presents the fate of Oskar Schindler
but it describes in detail the stages of Schindler’s life and various places where he stayed
You will also find various Jewish memorabilia and many photographs
The second place is a monument located near the house where Oskar Schindler lived
It is located on the other side of the street
in the cut-out shape of the Star of David is the mentioned building
be sure to visit the Oskar Schindler’s Enamel Factory Museum in Kraków – it is one of the most interesting museums I have been to
It not only tells the story of the factory itself but also of Kraków before WWII and during the occupation
It is a long square surrounded by arcaded houses
It is reputed to be one of the longest market squares in the Czech Republic
The houses surrounding it come from different periods
On the Market Square (náměstí Míru 50) is the Old Town Hall
but the most significant changes in its appearance occurred after the city fire in 1781
It underwent comprehensive reconstruction in 1849
and over the years mayors of the city lived there
but it is located in the former house of Valentin Oswald Ottendorfer
a significant portion of which was in this language
It was established in 1892 and was one of the largest German libraries in the Czech Republic
it is worth visiting the previously described Municipal Museum and churches
you like to discover places not fully explored
The interesting surroundings mean you won’t be bored
and Svitavy can be visited on the way to Pardubice or the recently popular mountain resort of Dolni Morava
My name is Jakub Juszyński and I create this place
Nie zabraknie tu lokalnych smaków i ciekawostek

label owners and others who are bringing the music world of the Czech Republic forward
from the past to the present and the present to the future
This week we take a look at the Rosnička Festival
which is taking place in Svitavy for the 12th time from 30 June to 1 July
This phenomena has developed a lot in the last 20 years
making these events – large scale gigs
tribes sharing experiences – a juicy business
Festivals help bands get out of their local comfort zone
and are usually a great chance to discover new names on the scene
or to finally see bands which you wouldn’t normally get a chance to see
The Rosnička Festival takes place in Svitavy
70 kilometres from Brno on the train route to Prague
It is an area which has seen much of its history erased
But the past is not as important as the vital energy of new dynamism
The music scene has grown in the last decades to become
and based on a core of passionate music fans who before that started organizing techno and house music events in the 2000s
the festival is now reaching its 12th year
with an attendance of about 800 people and a direct message about promoting the freshest music
With local acts mixing with artists from Germany
the program is a rich cocktail with exploding elements
emerging bands and possible surprise newcomers to enjoy to the fullest
The program shows risks taken and tremendous curiosity (full artist list below) but here are five of my highlights to discover there:
alternative rap with an energy that places it outside of any stereotypes
gravitating out of the Czech hip hop scene
and a lot of other qualitative compliments to be confirmed on stage
with slight dark shades of atmospheric notes
a waterbased world where we are invited to let the beat float high
coming to defend the Scorpion season released earlier this year
illustrating the borderless possibilities of modern self-production
interesting melodic risks assumed and taken
a DJ well know on the Prague club scene (Ankali
Let’s see how the bodies will move to follow his techno core tracks
the artist I was waiting for the most: it’s not easy to describe.
is it really necessary to put a label on sounds
and try to get a taste of the avant-garde in a place hidden from mainstream audiences
