Iveco Bus is a key employer in the Czech Republic where Vysoké Mýto employs more than 3,000 employees and another 1,700 subcontractors

The Vysoké Mýto site was first founded as a coach and carriage manufacturing plant by Josef Sodomka in 1895
Over the years the company evolved from horse-drawn transport to become one of the main bus production hubs in Europe
It counts for 85 years’ worth of bus manufacturing that has continued to create local jobs and promote economic growth for the country
Iveco Bus produces the Urbanway city bus in Vysoké Mýto

The discussion then moved on to future developments concerning the Vysoké Mýto plant and the important role the plant plays in employment for the region
The new Bus Design Centre in Vysoké Mýto was also unveiled during the celebrations

Vysoké Mýto Park is the reactivation of the public spaces of the former Jirásek military barracks
representing a major extension of the public space of the town southwest of the historical center of Vysoké Mýto
The total area of the proposed area is more than 3.5 hectares
The focal point of the proposal is the active zone in front of the existing historical building of the Dragoun barracks
The proposal divides the large area by means of a series of diagonal paths
based on natural movement through the area
These links create permeability of the area in a north-south direction
The so-called promenade forms the main east-west pedestrian route
The linear area connecting all the main public spaces in the area is spatially framed by an avenue of trees
and cyclists creates multi-layered views throughout the whole area
The overall cultivation and calming down of the traffic regime is also part of the area’s proposal
The permeability of the paved traffic areas allows water to be retained and reused on the site
Rainwater is collected and filtered in a storage and retention basin and used to irrigate vegetation areas
The natural attraction point of the site is the building of the Kiosk
located along the main pedestrian promenade
The Kiosk serves as a backdrop for the park with refreshments
Its stepped roof forms an elevated plateau
which allows the entire sports complex and park to be seen from a different perspective
The active zone is stratified by small height levels of individual areas and programs
This zone is dominated by a sunken multi-purpose playground with seating levels around its perimeter
This configuration allows for a variety of daily uses (sports
it naturally separates the playing area from the adjacent pedestrian routes
individual program elements for additional leisure activities are concentrated – a zone with wooden logs for children and young people
picnic activities on the modeled grass terraces or seating in the shade of the trees in the northern part of the area
The proposal also includes complete landscaping of the green space to unify the area
create new vital areas and offer year-round park attractions
The vegetation is complemented by the planting of 87 new trees
The overall composition of the mix of activities and recreational areas creates a living and changing public space, able to absorb and adapt to the changing demands of its users.
The aim of the proposal is to improve the quality of the partner by increasing the usability and utility of the area
This is also reflected in the concept of new vegetation
which is based on the layout of communication routes and residential zones
Existing tree species that can be retained have been identified
These will become the basis for future vegetation
The newly defined pedestrian routes are accompanied by single-species lines of high-quality mature trees with understory canopies.
The avenues are complemented by a motif of natural free planting of meander trees in a modeled lawn that resembles spontaneous vegetation units
This strong organic accent in an otherwise linear design will contribute to the livability of the site and create sheltered quiet micro-spaces for short-term recreation on the lawn
Complementary species such as Tilia cordata are proposed to complement the avenue and an attractive early flowering small-leaved tree – Amelanchier arborea Robin Hill
Fraxinus angustifolia Raywood is proposed for solitary use and for joint planting with flowering Bird Cherry (Prunus avium)
With a striking color effect of small leaves in autumn.
seeks to eliminate the negative impacts of vehicular traffic and provides necessary and collision-free service to the area
Pedestrian routes ensure the permeability of the whole area and connect the northern part of the city with the southern part and the eastern part with the western part
The main pedestrian entrances to the area are proposed in the southern part from Prokopa Velikého Street
in the part of Lidická and Odbojárská Street
a pedestrian connection between Školská Street and Prokopa Velikého Street is proposed
All proposed pedestrian entrances to the site are designed as barrier-free.
Traffic in all zones is limited to the supply and necessary servicing of the buildings
Necessary service and parking areas for passenger transport are located in the peripheral parts of the complex
there is a parking lot with an indirect entrance from Prokopa Velikého Street
there is an extension of the existing parking lot at the entrance to the retirement home
Local parking spaces are purposefully distributed throughout the area.
The playground is designed as the central active area of the new leisure park
Its space is defined by a depression in the ground
which is flanked by steps leading to a seating area along the southern edge of the playground
The main entrance staircase is located by the kiosk and wheelchair access is linked by a ramp to the promenade
The playing surface offers graphic signage for basketball
The pin play area is designed as a triangular play area with a soft shock-absorbing surface suitable for children and young people
The overall playing surface is divided by wooden vertical elements, which are connected in some parts by a series of soft and flexible elements (climbing ropes) and rigid elements (steel bars, horizontally rotating logs).
A triangular area with a soft sandy surface
preventing balls from bouncing out of the playground and spreading the sand into the surroundings
This area is connected to a wooden platform with trees and seating.
The kiosk along with the seating area form the social amenities of the new park
The main refreshment window is located on the busiest pedestrian link – the promenade
On the other side are the entrances to the sanitary and service facilities
The covered area is on a triangular plan slopes gently down towards the center of the park and offers seating with a wide view of the park and the playground.
A subtle open steel and timber pergola is proposed in the eastern part of the site to complement the existing park at the retirement home
The circular gazebo is intended to provide shade and seating for visitors to the children’s play area
All furniture elements are selected and designed with simplicity of form (matching the overall aesthetic expression of the site) and durability in mind

Iveco Bus has decided to integrate the production of the electric models Heuliez GX Elec and Iveco E-Way into its French plant in Annonay this year
The models were previously only built at the Rorthais site
The new E-Way-H2 fuel cell model will also be manufactured in Annonay
President of Iveco Bus and currently also President of the ACEA Bus and Coach Division

but this time he has only won it by a tiny margin of +0,005 to second rider

whereas on the 4fourth position there was local rider Milan Sitnianský with gap of +0,714 to the winning Hollbacher

ahead of his teammate Elia Sammartin in 2nd (+0,257)
and Sitnianský for Tuning Motor Sport in 3rd (+0,265)

two front rows did look as follows: 6th – Bonnal (+2.045)
5th Sitnianský (+1.443) dropping two positions compared to timing practise
3rd spot was then taken by Hollbacher (+0.647) on his KTM
and pole for the Race One has been claimed by Schmidt on TM (1:18.741)
S1GP RaceOne Race one was started just according to the schedule at 16:30
All the riders rushed into first corner after the lights went off
and managed to slip through the first chicanes of the race without problems
A quick starting reaction and solid performance of KTM KTR’s rider Lukas Hollbacher in the first corners resulted in gaining two positions and leading the pack
whareas pole man Marc Reiner Schmidt on his TM had lost one position to Hollbacher just as Chareyre on his TM
This triplet has split from the rest of the field and the were slowly stretching the gap ahead up to 10 seconds on finish line
there was no change on the podium positions after excellent start of KTM KTR’s rider Lukas Hollbacher
who eventually seized the victory in Race One
stretching the gap to Schmidt and Chareyre to almost 2,5
Elia Sammartin had to figh for the fourth spot
however he could not keep the pace of the first triplet
He has been followed closely by a Frenchmen Tim Szalai in the first few laps
Szalai managed to start also very well gaining two positions from starting #7
Szalai on his Husquarna has been chased by Milan Sitnianský on his Honda and Mickael Amodeo on TM bike
Sitnianský managed to overtake Szalai in lap 2
taking back his starting position and consequently slowly closing up the gap to Elia Sammartin riding for L30 Racing TM Factory
Tim Szalai had a small accident resulting in losing five places
the positions in the Top 9 did not change until the end of the race
although some attacks and fight were to be seen

The Iveco Bus Crossway Low Entry Elec will be world-premiered at UITP Summit. The intercity e-bus launch is in line with the brand roadmap of having a full electric bus range in 2023.
The new bus is available in both urban (Class I) and intercity (Class II) variants
with options for 12-meter and 13-meter lengths

Home to local iconic companies Sodomka and Karosa
the Iveco Vysoke Myto plant has a long-lasting tradition of producing intercity buses and coaches since foundation 125 years ago
With more than 3,800 employees, plus 1,700 subcontractors, it is one of the largest employers in the Czech Republic and Eastern Europe
with more than 4,000 vehicles made per year
This 125th anniversary is, above all, an opportunity to highlight the constant innovations achieved by Josef Sodomka Jr. and his successors, Iveco explains. Original technical solutions have become the basis for the launch of new bus model ranges
many of which have been world-renowned and welcomed passengers for decades
There are five key models that originated from the Vysoké Mýto plant that Iveco Bus is highlighting during its milestone
Although the first bus left the local factory in 1928
the production of buses did not start in full force until the 1950s
the main program of the Vysoké Mýto plant became the production of the Škoda 706 RO models developed in Mladá Boleslav
Since 1956 it has been followed by the Škoda 706 RTO model
one of the design symbols of Czechoslovakia in the 1960s
In 1960 the Karosa plant made the first articulated bus in Czechoslovakia
14,969 buses were made in the design for urban
From 1965 the production of Š 11 series buses gradually kept developing in Karosa
The outstanding feature resulting from the fact that the whole vehicle consisted of six main prefabricated panels boosted this product up to the leading position on a global scale
The successful and popular ‘ŠMs’ were replaced by the new 700 range
in the production of which a panel construction system was also used
the innovation consisted in moving the engine and transmission behind the rear axle
From the beginning of series production in 1981 until its end in 1999
a total of 37,166 of all types of vehicles in this range left the plant gates
After the privatisation of the company in 1993
Karosa started the development of a new product range 900
The most important Récréo model was the first bus to have a significant impact on Western markets
Thanks to the relevant penetration of the 900 series into new markets
the production of these buses tripled between 1995 and 2006
almost half of which were exported to France
The start of production of the Crossway range dates to 2006
which has gradually become the most successful intercity bus with more than 45,000 units sold
The vehicles designed for urban or intercity transport have a built-in six-cylinder Iveco engine
The majority of these vehicles from Vysoké Mýto are exported into mostly European countries
but it is also successfully exported into Africa

though an additional rail on the courier seat base would be useful
was high at the rear partly because of an unidentified non-driveline related whine that had commenced after the coach left the factory and became worse during the test
there was criticism of the dash (standard Crossway) and its mono main display
the lack of space for a driver’s cup and the poor mirror on the left
Others liked the reversing camera and the big control buttons

Overall it offered great total cost of ownership at the expense of rather a lot of compromises; perhaps too many for widespread touring use
