which means that an entire chunk of my wall is occupied by cabinets and appliances
There’s no cabinet dedicated to holding a trash can
so it rests along the wall between my bedroom and the bathroom
I would say the trash can looks out of place
Not only does it look like the perfect solution to my problem
but it’s also currently on sale for just $66
The cabinet sold out in the white color I was eyeing
which you’ll want to grab fast before it’s gone
The main compartment doesn’t open like a regular door; instead
you pull the handle down like a garbage chute
The entire cabinet measures 20.5 inches wide and 35.5 inches tall
though the trash can compartment is only 24 inches tall
The cabinet’s compact size means you’ll have no problem fitting it against a short wall or even sliding it between furniture
which you can use to store any number of items
Wayfair shoppers note that the cabinet takes about an hour to assemble on average
and that its sleek design matches most furniture
In addition to keeping your bin out of sight
this product will also help contain bad smells if you don’t have a lidded trash can
it can help prevent pets from getting into the garbage
One serves as a recycling receptacle and the other a food storage cabinet for our guinea pig and fish food
It’s a very clean and crisp way to store home essentials
The top drawer is a nice bonus and deep enough to provide ample storage for knick-knacks and random mudroom items.” — Jill
“I wanted an item to hide the trash and don’t have room inside the cabinets — this was perfect
and the tilt is exactly what I was needing.” — Kelly
“This is the most perfect thing I’ve bought from here

Germany is on track to generate more than half of its electricity from renewables this year
Speaking at a conference organized by the Heinrich Boell Foundation, economy minister Robert Habeck said that Germany has seen a boom in renewable power, Reuters reported
In the first half of this year, renewables, including hydropower and biomass, accounted for 52 percent of power production in Germany
2023 will mark the first full year in which the nation generates more than half of its power from renewable energy
Unlike these power sources, offshore wind continues to stutter. The sector remains frustrated by supply chain issues that have led to shortages of some components
Habeck emphasized that Germany is still not on pace to reach its goal of 80 percent renewable power by 2030. The country will need to accelerate its buildout of renewables to keep up with rising electricity demand, particularly as a growing number of electric cars connect to the grid
Averting Crisis, Europe Learns to Live Without Russian Energy

Sandbox VR was founded in California in 2016 and received a whopping $80 million in venture capital by 2019
Then came the pandemic: the company had to close its locations in the U.S
and Asia and file for bankruptcy a short time later
But Sandbox VR caught itself and reported another investment of 37 million US dollars at the end of 2021
The company now has nearly 30 locations in the U.S.
Sandbox VR's first location in Germany will open in Alsfeld in central Hesse
The town is located about 100 kilometers northeast of Frankfurt am Main
The fact that Sandbox VR is coming to Alsfeld is thanks to Torsten Schneider
a laser tag arena and a Hologate arcade with his "Next Level" world of experience
Schneider has been in negotiations with Sandbox VR for a year and will now open the first EU location after extensive construction work
Sandbox VR can only be experienced in London
The investment costs totaled 1.5 million euros
including the move to a new location and the financing of another future site
The technical equipment alone cost up to 500,000 euros
"The biggest challenge was to build the system here in Germany
which had previously only been built in other countries around the world
and to convert those to fit Germany," says Schneider
The Alsfeld site will feature two play areas
known as "Holodecks," each measuring 50 square meters
Each holodeck is designed for up to six players at a time
who can move freely within the playing area
they will be able to play with or against each other
Sandbox VR is based on an elaborate camera system that transmits every movement to the VR game via tracking balls on the players' bodies
and feet can be seen in real-time in virtual reality
Visitors wear vests for haptic feedback and
They carry a laptop in a small backpack that sends the movement coordinates to a server
The site will offer six different VR experiences
each lasting about 35 minutes (not including onboarding)
"Deadwood Valley" and "Deadwood Mansion," in which you must survive a zombie invasion
while in "Ambersky 2088" you have to fight your way through a future dystopia
"Curse of Davy Jones" is set in comic book style on a pirate ship
The highlight is a "Star Trek: Discovery" experience
More games are to be added in the coming years
The Alsfeld location is just the beginning for Sandbox VR
there are more locations planned in Germany - together with us
Here we want to go even further in the direction of the Rhine-Main area and another location in southern Hesse
possibly in the catchment area of Mannheim and Heidelberg
we will have built up the necessary know-how to spread Sandbox throughout Europe from Alsfeld," says Schneider
The price is 50 euros per person on weekends
The price includes a compilation of the best moments from the VR game mixed with reality
Sandbox VR opens at 5 p.m. on Oct. 17. That evening, there will also be an opportunity to learn about the technology and, of course, test Sandbox VR. Schneider recommends reserving seats in advance by phone or online
Note: Links to online stores in articles can be so-called affiliate links
MIXED receives a commission from the provider
Sandbox VR promises full-body VR with friends
I visited the first Sandbox VR arcade in the EU
While standing in a room full of real virtual people with the VR headset
I stumble through the semi-darkness with a dark box on my head
trying not to stub my toes on the table leg
if I could see the people in the headset outside the headset
If I could virtually put my hand on someone's shoulder and feel a real shoulder
To find out, I tried out the first Sandbox VR Arcade in the EU together with real people
are strapped into the extensive equipment: backpack PC
There are several exclusive games to choose from
each with a playtime of about half an hour
We start with a zombie shooter and can select our weapons via a staff member's tablet
where tracking cameras are installed all around and some fans provide wind in certain game scenes
In each arena can play up to six players at the same time
The game starts with a short tutorial that explains the game mechanics
This is also where we see ourselves digitally as avatars for the first time
and two employees bring us controllers that match our weapon selection
we learn how to revive fallen players: put a hand on their shoulder
but one that my brain can process immediately
This is where the power of Sandbox VR's tracking comes into play
Then it begins: The four of us are standing on a street
and waves of zombies rush at us from several directions
The gamer part of my brain immediately wants to stand with its back to the wall
but virtual locomotion is not an option - indeed
that would be a no-go for a VR arcade that wants to reach as many people as possible
So we pull ourselves together and shoot in all directions
Occasionally zombies jump on our backs - then only teamwork helps
but are revived directly or help each other back on our feet
The physical presence of the others is subtle
we never crash into each other - the tracking is very precise
Whoever rescues survivors from the zombies gets extra points
After mowing down zombies for half an hour
and we see our score and ourselves in a virtual mirror
we are led to a large monitor where we see a best-of from our VR adventure
they have to dance around in a circle - from the outside
and the high-quality tracking captures the sometimes admirable footwork of the fighters
He has been running Escape Rooms and the VR arcade Hologate in the small town of Alsfeld for a few years now
which probably doesn't exist anywhere else
and its proximity to his office allowed him and his staff to build it up piece by piece
He tells me that this has been a real challenge in parts: for example
Sandbox VR has all kinds of standards for components
but they are geared toward the American market
the VR arcade in Alsfeld is a kind of test run
with which Torsten and his company have gained valuable experience
Is a VR experience like Sandbox VR different from home VR
Their weaknesses are quickly noticed by experienced gamers who are used to their own VR headset and PCs with modded Skyrim
Arcade games are more about the shared experience: Sandbox VR promotes the social component of VR gaming through gameplay elements
The strength of the arcade lies in its social focus and in bringing friends and sometimes younger and older generations together
Those who remember a time when there was no Beat Saber
or shooters like Pavlov may recall that local social VR is fun
much of the joy of VR was in the moments when you showed your friends and family demos you'd seen far too many times
One of my fondest VR memories is an evening that started like this when we discovered the GORN demo on itch.io
Arcades like Sandbox VR tie into such experiences with simple games
But instead of just watching someone enjoy VR
you share that experience simultaneously in VR and in the real world
Someone present in reality is just a little more with you than someone you're just sharing a virtual space with

I had some interest but no offers from D-I schools,” Laurito said
That changed after the Beantown Spring Classic in March
Coach [Army assistant Eric] Lang saw me play at the Beantown and shot me an email
It’s a beautiful place and there’s so much history there
I knew it would be an honor to both serve my country and play [Division I] hockey for Army,” Laurito said
