GERMANY: A project to build a tram line running north from Aachen to Alsdorf has been allocated €5·5m by federal and state governments to continue with planning
a feasibility study reported positively in 2022
with follow-up research in July 2023 by Transport Technologie-Consult Karlsruhe GmbH declaring it economically viable
Aachen Mayor Sibylle Keupen said ‘we have waited a long time for the funding approval
the daily journey will be much more relaxed and comfortable for many commuters
Now we can finally get started and take the next steps so that the city and region can move closer together thanks to the Regiotram.’
The project envisages a 20 km line running from Aachen Hauptbahnhof across the city centre
along the Krefelder Straße axis to Alsdorf and then continuing to Baesweiler
with a 6·5 km branch from Würselen to the airport at Merzbrück
Services would run at 15 min interval on each line
with eight trams per hour on the core Aachen – Würselen section
The next stage will be design and planning approval over the next three to five years
with opening projected for 10-15 years from now
Aachen has not been served by trams since the Vaals-Brand line closed in 1974
GERMANY: Funding has been confirmed for the 15 kV 16·7 Hz electrification of the 47 km Euregiobahn network of local passenger routes in the Aachen area
The federal government has agreed to cover 90% of the €43m cost
with the Land and infrastructure owner Euregio Verkehrsschienennetz ..
GERMANY: Berlin transport operator BVG has called tenders for the provision of planning services to support the development of a proposed extension of tram Route M17 from Johannisthal to Gropiusstadt in the southeast of the capital
Preliminary feasibility and economic viability studies were completed in 2023
EUROPE: A through regional passenger train service linking Liège in Belgium with Aachen in Germany via Maastricht in the Netherlands was finally launched on June 30
the so-called Three Countries Service was originally expected to start running in 2018

German tuner Wheelsandmore has been living up to its name recently. Although perhaps it should start referring to itself as Wheelsandahellofalotmore. Sorry.
We make this terrible joke because of what you see above. Yes, it may look like a reasonably standard Audi R8 V10 Plus Spyder, but the Baesweiler-based tuner has managed to extract the faintly terrifying sum of 1,036bhp. Crikey.
To get to that figure from the standard car’s 603bhp, Wheelsandmore has fitted twin-turbos to the 5.2-litre V10, whilst also improving cooling and upgrading the engine management system. Plus, there’s a high-performance double-clutch gearbox from Promax that can handle the 738lb ft of torque.
Snappily known as Apocalypticar, it’ll apparently hit 62mph from a standstill in 2.7secs and plough on all the way to 222mph – at which point your hair will be permanently restyled. There’s no coming back from that.
The power upgrade costs just over €66,000 – or around £60,000 – so it ain’t cheap, and for that sum you don’t even get the wheels. On the Stormtrooper-spec above they’re 20-inchers at the front and 21s at the rear. Like them? That’ll be an extra £10,000 please.
What do you reckon then Internet? And how much power is too much?

Reason enough for this year's European Mobility Week (EMW) on 16 - 22 September to cast the spotlight on pedestrians
Cities and towns from all of Europe will be showing how walking and sustainable mobility are put into practice
Says President Maria Krautzberger of the German Environment Agency (UBA): "Liveable cities require mobility that is clean
low-noise and economical in terms of space – like walking
European Mobility Week shows how municipalities can put these aims into practice jointly with their citizens."
More than 60 municipal governments in all 16 federal states are participating in EMW 2019 with campaigns to promote sustainable mobility at the local level
the "Instawalk" along the Kulturlinie tram route lets pedestrians discover the city anew
The town of Lilienthal is offering a "walking workshop" for its older citizens
Herne and Weimar are easing the wait at Pelican crossings with an interesting quiz
During EMW many cities are hosting a campaign at zebra crossings where people can have their photo taken in a look similar to the cover of the 50-year-old "Abbey Road" Beatles album
The campaign aim is to encourage people to walk

European Mobility Week (EMW) is an EU campaign which offers municipalities across Europe the opportunity to raise public awareness of the issue of sustainable mobility
Measures will be established in the week of 16 – 22 September and beyond which will lastingly make local transport greener
More than 2500 campaigns will be launched in towns and cities across Europe

El Koenigsegg Jesko It was the most spectacular and sporty novelty that we were able to meet at the last Geneva Motor Show
the Swedish firm has managed to unseat the manufacturers of supercars most established in the market
His models can afford to look down on heavyweights from Ferrari
this situation has a negative counterpart: the price of their models is prohibitive
we must add that the production is very limited
making them become authentic collector's items
If to both variables we add the arrival of some other one off
This is what happens to the exclusive and expensive Koenigsegg Jesko Red Cherry Edition
The Jesko is powered by a 5.0 V8 biturbo petrol unit with a power of 1.600 CV if you drink bioethanol 85
a while ago we told you that the production of the Swedish supercar was exhausted
Koenigsegg announced that they would only be manufactured 125 units and that they would begin to be assembled in 2020
the luckiest will be able to enjoy it from 2021
The only unit available is the Koenigsegg Jesko Red Cherry Edition who has commissioned Luxuryandexpensive
This name corresponds to a premium vehicle dealer located in Baesweiler (Germany)
The chosen configuration stands out for the tone Cherry of the bodywork and the numerous elements in carbon fiber scattered throughout the body
the final weight on the scale remains at a ridiculous 1.320 kilos
On the front axle it uses 20-inch wheels and on the rear they are 21-inch wheels
the seats can be upholstered in leather or Alcantara
is 2.350.000 Euros so it can easily exceed 3 million euros
