2024–Olympic gold medal partnership of Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and TSF Dalera BB on Saturday won the German Championship Grand Prix Special
Jessica and the 17-year-old Trakehner mare now 17 years unbeaten at Big Tour going back to the Tokyo Olympics received a score of 81.078% from the all-German ground jury
The duo won the championship Special in 2020
the 14-year-old Oldenburg gelding that he rode on Germany’s European Championship silver medal team last September
Ingrid Klimke on the 16-year-old stallion Franziskus FRH was third on 78.509%
German long-time youth team member Semmieke Rothernberger has spoken out on her non-selection for the German long list for the 2024 European Under 25 Championships
At the 2024 German Under 25 Championships in Balve last weekend
Rothenberger and the 14-year old KWPN gelding Farrington (by Jazz x Samba Hit) were second in the Intermediaire II (73.789)% and won U25GP gold (74.790%) as well as Kur gold (80.675%)
Balve was Rothenberger's first show on Farrington in nine months time
Their last competition start was in September 2023
the dressage selection committee of the DOKR decided not to long list Rothenberger for European U25 Championship team selection as she missed the first team selection trial in Mannheim and did not compete at any other show in 2024 to prove form and fitness
"What counts for the dressage committee when making the nomination is the impression of the entire year and the entire selection process
which was communicated to the riders at an early stage," the DOKR stated
we have therefore given priority to those pairs that have completed the entire process
We are certain that we are well positioned with the pairs mentioned
The decision on the shortlist will be made on July 2nd."
Rothenberger disagrees and made a statement on social media
referring to long listed rider Helen Erbe who also missed Mannheim
Long-time team member Helen Erbe did compete at the CDN Munster and CDI Lier - twice in the senior Grand Prix division - at the start of 2024 before making her way to the German Championships in Balve
where she won the Inter II ahead of Rothenberger
is the Federation has made exceptions to rules at their discretion in the past
and a horse has qualified that has not competed at the first qualification (just like Farrington)," Rothenberger took to social media
" So when the reason given is that our selection would be unfair to the other competitors and that they have only chosen combinations who have done the ‘entire process’ - this is not accurate and led me to feel disappointed and confused with the decision
Semmieke further addressed the DOKR directly asking "to please critically question the statements and decision made
by looking at selected horses and their show history; of this year and prior years."
When mentioning "prior years" Rothenberger refers to the selection of Raphael Netz on Ferdinand BB on the German team for the 2022 European Under 25 Championships despite him having only competed the horse for 1.5 months
Netz rode the selections on Exclusiv BB and only made his show debut on Jessica von Bredow's former GP horse Ferdinand BB at the end of June 2022 at a local event in Brunnthall before heading to the CDI Kronberg in July
After that they went to the national show in Elmlohe which was their first and only team qualifier as a pair
Good 70++ scores were achieved at these shows
The German federation allowed him to swap Exclusiv BB for Ferdinand BB
"undoubtedly this is disappointing for myself and my team
given Farrie's exceptional form and results that see him always finishing in the top three
we would have loved to represent our country and I am confident that Farrie would have shone
especially after his recent performance in Balve."
The FN did not accept this as part of the selection process
Since 2011 Rothenberger has ridden at eleven (!) European Youth Riders Championships from pony level to Under 25 with seven different horses
She has been working with Jonny Hilberath alongside her parents Sven and Gonnelien Rothenberger

Can you imagine watching a show inside a cave
Prophecy Productions seems to think that too
as for 10 years now they have curated a very particular metal gathering: Prophecy Fest
Prophecy Fest is a metal festival mainly composed by artists from Prophecy’s own label
performed inside the Cave of Balve (known to the locals as Balver Höhle)
an ancient natural cave that has been the setting for human gatherings and celebrations for hundreds of years
The festival has been going for a while now
and the latest edition in 2023 has been their biggest one yet
featuring some very special and unlikely performances and bands outside of the vast Prophecy catalogue
but that perfectly fit at what the festival is going for: dark and atmospheric heavy music
I live in Brazil and I planned a big trip to see the phenomenal ArcTanGent Festival and get to know Europe for the first time
I heard of Prophecy Fest and everything about it looked stunning
So I tweaked my traveling scheduled a bit to fit this one in
after ArcTanGent I thought I couldn’t handle another camping festival so soon and I thought about selling my ticket
but after a while I got hyped for it again and decided to go
because this was truly a memorable experience for me
I made my way to the festival site via a train from the city of Dortmund to Balve
I managed to meet some people that were also going to the festival that fortunately became my festival companions for most of the days
When you’re going mostly solo to a festival
so it’s always nice to meet people that you can talk to
and I met some great people from all around the world on this one that made this experience much more special to me
The first day of the festival was more of a welcome party
with acoustic performances around a bonfire near the campsite
they also had free beer for the whole night which is certainly not something I expected at a festival
but I had to wait for a friend to set our tent
so I unfortunately missed the first couple of acts: a book reading by Ernie Fleetenkieker (which was in German so I wouldn’t be able to understand it anyway) and Illudium
I did manage to catch the other shows on the day though
especially Vrîmuot which I didn’t listen to previously but was really compelling
really tired on the first day and wasn’t in the proper headspace to enjoy it to the fullest
I won’t go into detail because it is a really long story
but I had one of the most tiresome days of my life in Dortmund before I got to the fest so I was exhausted
Vrîmuot closed out the opening night in great fashion
I didn’t bring a sleeping bag with me and I really underestimated just how cold the night could be
Eventually I got out and fortunately some people had a fire going on
which saved me from one of the worst nights I ever had
I decided to get proper supplies as soon as I could
After getting myself some camping supplies to secure a decent night this time around
I managed to actually get some real fun at the festival
This was a full festival day inside the cave
Seeing the stage inside Balver Höhle was wild
The cave is actually not as big as I thought
The main stage was tall so you could get a decent view from pretty much anywhere
and the whole aesthetic of it is just awesome
My first concert for the day was the absolutely delightful weirdness that is Laster
A selection of the weirdest tunes you’ll ever hear accompanied by a tight and playful performance
Laster‘s live show was the perfect start for the first proper festival day
and it makes for an absolutely entertaining show
If I was already interested in their new album Afgelopen Tijd that’s coming soon
Laster has now skyrocketed to the top of my anticipated releases
I stuck around for one of my most anticipated shows in the festival: the mighty Disillusion
I am a huge fan of their most recent release Ayam and I think it’s some of my favorite music ever in the prog/death spectrum
While they didn’t play my personal favorite “Abide the Storm”
it’s impossible to complain about this show
The emotional moments in songs like “Driftwood” are moving
and “Alea” just sounded even more epic with the live trumpets
One of my highlights for the day and I hope I get to see them again someday
One of the shows that convinced me to attend the festival
Next up were The Vision Bleak presenting their album The Deathship Has a New Captain in full
I am not familiar with their music outside of said album
but it is indeed some cool gothic music that makes for a fun show
They were followed by the impossible to describe Darkspace
Somewhere between drone music and black metal
Darkspace live show works almost like a Lovecraftian entity has descended upon earth and is trying to communicate
and we as simple humans just try to comprehend what it is saying
and anyone into atmospheric dark music should give it a try
One of the best things about Prophecy Fest for me was the possibility of watching the main stage shows while sitting down
There was a comfort ticket that gave you a few goodies
including the ability to skip merch lines and being granted access to an area with chairs next to the stage that offered a great view
That was amazing for me since I was still beat up from the first night and sitting down helped me watch way more shows then I would have the energy for otherwise
I then waited around for doom giants My Dying Bride
but it’s a genre I am mostly unfamiliar with
I understand why My Dying Bride are held in such a high regard
they had the attention of every fan on stage and manage to convince me to finally delve deeper into the genre – starting with their discography
The main event for the night was probably my most anticipated one at the whole festival: the post metal masters Amenra
and I always heard people talking about how better they are live than in studio
This level of intensity at a concert is just beyond words
and despite being tired from the rest of the day
the show had so much energy I found myself jumping and moving around at my chair all the time
and “A Solitary Reign” are personal standouts
but honestly every single song and every single second of the show was unbelievably amazing and I could actually spend a whole day just talking about how good this was
My personal favorite show of the whole festival
and one of the best shows I’ve ever seen
While Prophecy Fest claims they do not have headliners in the traditional sense
you just can’t have a band as powerful as Amenra not close to the end
Everything after their show would pale in comparison
The legends are true: Amenra is indeed an amazing live act
I managed to pull off an seemingly impossible task: I actually saw all the bands that played on this day
Because I sat down for most of it so I was well rested for the whole day
festival organizers from all around the world: please consider putting chairs like Prophecy Fest did
The day started earlier than Friday with an awesome show by E-L-R
Post metal with a doom edge and truly remarkable vocals
their music carries a fascinating atmosphere that I find really unique and engaging
I was really anticipating this show and it delivered in every way
as the songs from their latest album Vexier manage to be even more engaging in a live setting
and their stage props fit the Balver Höhle setting like a glove
This is a band that deserves way more attention than they are currently getting
Prophecy Fest organizes their second stage in a very interesting way: every band had two short sets with 20 minutes each
and one stage is less than a minute from walking distance of the other
I rushed to the second stage to watch the first set of the British dark rock band Gospelheim
Think of a more gothic version of Ghost and you may get the idea
dancy break from the dark and weird stuff that was to come with Slagmaur
and they play very experimental and theatrical black metal
complete with animal costumes and clips from old films as intros
I then had another dose of great doom metal with Saturnus
having a lot of fun with each other in a surprisingly funny show
highlighted with a special and emotional duet featuring Paul Kuhr of Novembers Doom in the song “Even Tide”
Another band I added to my growing list of essential doom metal I need to listen to more
the main stage was followed by what was announced as the only show ever for the black metal project Gràb
That project is composed by one full album called Zeitland
which was played almost in full during the show
The album tells the story of an old man that gets tired of his life and seeks to end it
and somehow grew even larger in a live setting
I hope this isn’t really Gràb‘s only show ever
Remarkable show and one of the best black metal concerts I’ve been to
Let’s hope more Gràb concerts are on the way soon
performing in German soil for the first time in 17 years
Some passionate fans were making the most of that long wait and frontman Paul Kuhr seemed like a super nice guy
complimenting fans who knew the lyrics and interacting with people in all areas of the cave
we were graced by the powerful performance of Dymna Lotva
I did not know about their goal in spreading awareness on the current state of Belarus and it made their music hit like a truck
It’s amazing how art can convey feelings and make us empathise in deep levels
and the rage sung by vocalist Nokt Aeon in every word
One of the most emotionally charged performances I’ve ever seen
and surely one that will stick with me in the long run
One of the most moving performances of the festival by Dymna Lotva
This was their only metal performance this year
and while I personally prefer their acoustic work
I can’t deny their electric charged performances are also great
I watched the first set by Swiss sludge/doom band Tar Pond
This was a pretty heavy festival with many flavors of heavy music
Every riff had a wall of sound that felt like a massive punch
and it was impossible not to bang your head with the utmost energy in those slow
so do yourself a favor and listen to Petrol to see where I’m coming from
The second to last act at the main stage was a very atmospheric and ethereal performance by Darkher
While it was as introspective and angelic as I expected
it also had some pretty heavy moments in a few songs
While she ended up replacing Arthur Brown‘s set who had to pull out of the festival at the last minute
I feel her somber performance was the perfect mood setter for Prophecy Fest‘s big finish
Darkher setting the mood for the final act
After being separated for 8 years and the members having some side projects
I met many people who traveled great lengths just for this performance
and the love and passion that fans have for Agalloch is undeniable
As the very first notes of “Limbs” graced our ears and the curtain fell (literally
people were screaming and crying all around
It was impossible not to be moved by the commotion of so many people realizing what seemed to be an impossible dream
and Agalloch made this as special as possible
with a setlist spanning their whole career and playing songs dear to many such as “In The Shadow of Our Pale Companion” and “As Embers Dress The Sky”
The band was tight and it truly felt that this reunion wasn’t half assed for money: they enjoy playing this music and they know how much it means to the fans
With a couple more shows announced in North America
I hope they are back on the stage for good and give more people the opportunity to see this beautiful
Agalloch made a lot of dreams come true that night
Prophecy Fest 2023 truly was a great experience for me
I had a few shortcomings on my end that are totally my fault
but nothing that got in the way of enjoying a massive gathering of great bands and great people
I met some great people during these days and the whole experience will stay with me on the long run
The next edition is already on its way and with some great acts announced
so if you’re looking for a escape from reality marked by great music in a very special setting
grab your beers and set camp at the Balver Höhle next year

Brand new German champions Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and Dalera BB have a received a bye and will not compete in Germany's second Olympic team selection trial in Aachen on 4 - 7 July 2024
Werndl and the 17-year old Trakehner mare Dalera BB (by Easy Game x Handryk) dominated the German Championships in Balve
winning all three rounds with 78.640% in the Grand Prix
81.078% in the Special and 89.600% in the Kur
the pair has been excused from riding another heavy selection trial in Aachen (4 - 7 July 2024)
but it's such a cool feeling," Werndl confirmed
"Of course I wanted to ride in Aachen but I had to give that up
For my ego I wanted to make it happen again
but from a sportive perspective it's insanely close to Paris and I want to stay in this six-week rhythm
give her some down time and slowly prepare her for Paris.
I'm grateful that this decision has been taken for me
so we can really go on the road to Paris."

At the 2024 German Dressage Championships for Grand Prix level riders in Balve on 6 - 9 June 2024
Under 25 rider Semmieke Rothenberger and senior GP rider Jessica von Bredow-Werndl came out as winners
grabbing each both gold medals and the titles
The Under 25 championship was part of the Piaff Forderpreis qualifier
while the senior Grand Prix division counted as Germany's first Olympic team selection trial
After proving form at the CDI Basel and Munich
reigning Olympic champions Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and Beatrice Burchler-Keller's 17-year old Trakehner mare Dalera BB (by Easy Game x Handryk) swept the board in Balve and won all three rounds
In the warm-up Grand Prix class it was not a flawless ride that led to her first victory of the weekend
severe rhythm loss in the second piaffe and a mistake in the two tempi changes meddled with the points
Nivelle) rewarded the ride with a winning 78.640%
but she was also quite ticklish and we made some really expensive mistakes
The two-way changes didn't work at all and I picked up the piaffe too quickly
but she's in a really good mood nonetheless!"
Jessica von Bredow-Wernd on Dalera BBIn the first test that counted for medals - the Grand Prix Special - Werndl ironed out the creases and aside from a bobble in the final trot extension
the points went soaring and she renewed her national champion's title with 81.078%
The silver went to a consistently performing Frederic Wandres on the 14-year old Oldenburg Bluetooth (by Bordeaux x Riccione)
After a second place in the Grand Prix with 77.380%
they upped the ante in the Special and got a whopping 79.431% from the judges
never scoring below 7 for any of the movements
The phoenix in Balve this year was Ingrid Klimke on Wilhelm Holkenbrink's 16-year old Hanoverian stallion Franziskus (by Fidertanz x Alabaster)
She landed on the podium with bronze after scoring 78.509% and edging out Wandres on his second horse Duke of Britain as well as Isabell Werth on Quantaz
Werth was 'only' 8th in the Grand Prix (73.760%) but moved up the board in the Special with 76.627%
Werndl topped up a successful weekend with Kur to Music gold
Saying the usual words to describe the feeling after the test
"I have never had such a feeling as today." She added
"she always gives everything and more." The evening before the freestyle
she changed a few small things and mentally run through her floorplan several times on foot
The pair has proven to be ready for Paris and has been given dispensation from competing at the second Olympic team trial in Aachen
RothenbergerWandres opted to ride the 17-year old Duke of Britain (by Dimaggio x Rubinstein) in the freestyle to rest Bluetooth who will have another three-test show in three weeks at the second and final German Olympic team qualifier in Aachen
Wandres and Duke achieved the second highest score
Not Ingrid Klimke but Sönke Rothenberger jumped on the podium for the kur bronze medal
Aboard his 10-year old Danish gelding Fendi (by Franklin x Diamond) he posted 81.125%
Sönke was very frank in the press conference where he explained how difficult it is to reproduce the feeling from home or the warm-up in the competition ring
The feeling was a little gone that everything is just right
but it's no use and you just have to shake it off
but the feeling and the ease have to be delivered in the test on day X
That's wearing me down a little from the inside."
Ingrid was fourth with 80.750% and made herself a real contender for a German Olympic team spot ahead of team fixture Isabell Werth
In the Under 25 division it became a duel between last year's U25 champions Semmieke Rothenberger and Helen Erbe
This year Rothenberger took both gold medals
but Erbe and her 17-year old Hanoverian Carlos (by Carabas x Weltmeyer) certainly gave her a run for her money
The division started off with Erbe winning the warm-up round
with 75.000%; well ahead of Semmieke and her 14-year old KWPN gelding Farrington (by Jazz x Samba Hit) on 73.789%
CollinThe first medal contest took place in the U25 Grand Prix (aka short Grand Prix) and the tables were turned
Rothenberger dominated the class with a winning score of 74.790% for the gold
while the third placed pair in the Inter II
Anna Schölermann and the 11-year old Hanoverian Bon Scolari (by Bon Bravour x Scolari) moved into the silver medal position with 72.441%
while Lia Welschof and 12-year old Swiss bred GB Dolcino (by Don Index x De Niro) slotted in third for bronze with 71.627%
Collin was fourth and Erbe landed fifth place after two issues with flying changes
For Rothenberger and Farrington the Nationals were only their first show of 2024 after they had a nine-month break from competition
In November 2023 Farrington sustained and injury and missed out on the 2023 Piaff Forderpreis finals in Stuttgart
In Balve the pair celebrated their come back and achieved a second gold medal after winning the freestyle with 80.675%
Erbe made a strong come back on the final day and claimed freestyle silver with 78.950% while Collin moved on the podium for bronze after earning 75.100% on her 14-year old KWPN bred Ferrero D (by Tuschinski x Jazz)
"Balve is always a special show," said Rothenberger
"It's great to be able to ride here as an U25 rider and to be able to watch how the best of the best train and compete here in Germany
There is always a special atmosphere to ride here
I was super happy with my horse Farrie from the start
who once again threw his heart into the test and persevered for three days
I assumed that he might be a little tired on the last day
but he had more energy than in the last few days combined
It's just nice to see a horse fight like that for you."
The German Para Dressage Championships were held for the first time in Balve and this on the same weekend of the inaugural CPEDI Hagen at Hof Kasselmann
Germany's best para riders were all present at the Nationals where two podiums were celebrated
The German para championship medal winners: Dresing
Nowak and Mispelkamp"A new task that we have accepted with great respect," said show host Rosalie Countess von Landsberg-Velen
who is also a member of the German Board of Trustees for Therapeutic Riding
The accommodations had to be adapted to the para riders
the nearest stable tent was provided and covered with rubber mats to make access easier for wheelchair users
"We felt welcome here from the very first moment
The organizer really did everything to make our participation as suitable as possible
A solution was sought for every little problem," said German para team coach Silke Fütterer-Sommer
II and III it was Heidemarie Dresing on Dooloop who captured the goal ahead of Martina Benzinger with Nautika and Steffen Zeibig with Patamon
For the podium of Grade IV and V it was Anna-Lena Niehues topped the board for gold
while Isabell Nowak landed silver and Regine Mispelkamp got bronze

2022–Showtime FRH that made a remarkable recovery to be ridden by Dorothee Schneider to win this year’s German Championships is out of the world championships in Herning
Denmark after the two-time Olympic gold medal horse was pulled from the CDI4* here
The withdrawal of Showtime that was on the German gold medal teams at the last two Olympics further hurts Germany’s chances of adding another world championship to its record of winning gold at all but two events since the first global dressage team competition in 1966
“The way to the championship team leads through three tests in Balve and a start at the CHIO Aachen,” said Klaus Roeser
chairman of the German Olympic Dressage Committee
“It’s bitter to have to do without such a strong pair.” e

The German equestrian federation has announced the long list for team selection for the 2024 European Under 25 Championships and has excluded brand new 2024 German Under 25 champion Semmieke Rothenberger from the list
The 2024 European Under 25 Championships will take place in St
Team trainer Sebastian Heinze and the dressage selection committee of the DOKR decided and nominated the following riders on the long list:
The announcement of the list has sent a shockwave through Germany as Semmieke Rothenberger
the winner of last weekend's German Under 25 Championships and long-time medal winning youth team member
Helen Erbe on Carlos FRH"The two of them performed excellently in Balve," said Klaus Roeser
what counts for the dressage committee when making the nomination is the impression of the entire year and the entire selection process
which was communicated to the riders at an early stage
The German equestrian federation had set the Piaff Forderpreis in Mannheim and the Under 25 Championships in Balve as the two team selection/observation trials for long list nomination
but so was long listed Helen Erbe on Carlos FRH
This year Erbe competed at the national show Agravis Cup in Munster (72.480%% in senior GP) in January 2024 and at the CDI Lier at the start of March 2024 (67.108% in senior GP)
was fifth in the U25-GP and won silver in the Kur

The German equestrian federation has announced that the 2021 Olympic team selection will go through two mandatory events: Balve and Kronberg
Traditionally the annual championship team is selected based on the results achieved at two mandatory shows: the German Dressage Championships and CDIO Aachen
Aachen has been postponed to September and a new selection event had to be chosen
Balve remains on the calendar as the first selection trial at the German Dressage Championship on 3 - 6 June
followed by a mandatory start at the CDI Kronberg on 24 - 27 June 2021
The CDI Hagen in April is not an official selection event
but often brings out team candidates as the selectors are there for observation
"Balve as German Championships and the CDI Kronberg will be the mandatory selection trials," Monica Theodorescu confirmed to Eurodressage
"Riders will have to use other competitions like Hagen
the German Olympic Dressage selection committee will make its recommendation of three team riders and a reserve to the German Olympic Sport Federation (DOSB)
Isabell Werth has withdrawn Queenparks Wendy from the 2024 German Dressage Championships in Balve on 6 - 9 June 2025
Balve is the first of two mandatory German Olympic team selection trials
Werth took over the ride on Queenparks Wendy at the start of 2024 after his previous Andreas Helgstrand got expelled for Danish team activities for the year 2024
The mare was owned by Bolette Wandt who has a breeding operation in France at Chateau de Fontaine
Werth's sponsor Madeleine Winter-Schulze invested a stake in the mare and Wendy moved to Germany
where they posted 74/348% in the Grand Prix and 74.511% in the Special
From there they went to the CDI Aachen Festival 4 Dressage and added a percent to their scores: 75.065% in the Grand Prix and 75.149%
At the CDI Mannheim the judges were thrilled and rewarded the Grand Prix 77.00% and the Special 76.255% which put Wendy ahead of stable mate Quantaz for Olympic consideration
a spanner has been thrown in the works and Wendy will not be in Balve
"Unfortunately Wendy suffered a minor injury in the paddock on Sunday and suffered a bruise," said Werth
"This needs some rest now and that's why it won't start in Balve
Quantaz now bears the responsibility alone on his shoulders
but I'm still looking forward to Quantaz and Balve."
If Wendy is fit soon from her minor paddock injury
she will now get to take the "easier" route for team selection by competing in the CDIO Aachen 4* tour

Dorothee Schneider's number one in the barn
is scheduled to make his come back at the 2022 German Dressage Championships in Balve next week
The 16-year old Hanovieran gelding by Sandro Hit x Rotspon has been absent from the competition arena since the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo
where he won team gold and placed 15th in the kur to music individual finals
who has struggled with niggling injuries in the past
was also replaced with Faustus for the German team at the 2021 European Championships in Hagen
This year's Schneider's second ride Faustus (by Falsterbo x Forest xx) has not been able to tick the 75% scoring box yet in the Grand Prix
Mannheim and Munich he did not reach the 75% marker with his score often stuck at 73%
Showtime's return to the competition arena is very welcome as leading up to the 2022 World Championships Dressage in Herning
the long-time team gold medal winning country is holding a weaker hand of cards this year due to the absence of the pregnant Olympic champion Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and the retirement of both Bella Rose and Weihegold
The 2022 German Championships in Balve are the first official German team selection trial for Herning
According to the Dressursport-Deutschland
the following riders are entered to compete in the senior championship:
Next week Germany will be holding its first of two Olympic team selection trials to determine the team of three that will travel to Tokyo to defend the team title
The first trial is the 2021 German Dressage Championship in Balve and all team candidates are in principle required to ride there
the world number one and sixteen time gold medal winner at the German Nationals since 1991
will be taking her number one Bella Rose and her number three
stays home as she has already proven her ability at the CDI's in Salzburg and Mannheim this year
did his last international in Aarhus in October 2020 where he finished second twice
Werth confirmed her choice for Bella Rose and Quantaz for Balve to Dressursport Deutschland
"We discussed it like that will all involved and the dressage selection committee," she stated
The 16-year old Weihegold won Kur gold at last year's Nationals
In the absence of Germany's number one duo Helen Langehanenberg and Damon Hill
the 2012 team Olympian Kristina Sprehe and her black licensed Hanoverian stallion Desperados had a clean sweep at the 2014 German Dressage Championships in Balve
and claimed two National Titles that weekend
As in most countries scores get quite inflated at National Dressage Championships and it was no different in Germany
where Sprehe won double gold with an 83.784% in the Special and 90.150% in the Kur to Music
Sprehe and her 13-year old stallion was clearly best in show in Balve
She also premiered her new kur to music with on a violin composition arranged by Ralf Roder
who also once designed the freestyle of Desperados' sire Donnerhall
The 27-year old Sprehe was overjoyed with her victories
"In fact I'm speachless," Kristina stated after winning Kur gold
"We still have to work a bit on the fine-tuning of the music and movements." Sprehe is currently training with German team coach Monica Theodorescu and will show Desperados next at the German WEG trial in Perl-Borg in June
Grand Prix Special silver went to Ulla Salzgeber and her Rhinelander gelding Herzruf's Erbe (by Herzruf)
The pair scored 77.627% and just stayed a fraction ahead of Fabienne Lutkemeier who got bronze for her 77.373% earning ride on the Hanoverian gelding D'Agostino (by De Niro x Shogun xx)
which has been struggling in the past with niggling health issues
will have to prove consistent fitness of her horse in order to be considered for the German WEG team
"It was the best decision ever that I took in September é2011 to put Herzruf's Erbe nine months in the field," said the 55-year old Salzgeber
who is relieved that her horse showed great form in Balve
Lutkemeier dealt with a quite tense D'Agostino in Balve
In the Special she kept her spooky horse under control and was able to win a medal
in the Kur the 24-year old had major problems and dropped to a 9th place with 75.425%
So what about German anchor and "mutti of the team"
She was fourth in the Special on Don Johnson (by Don Frederico x Warkant) as there was an issue in the transition in piaffe
Werth's 12-year old refused and hobbled on the spot
"I failed in the transition as he wanted to do a strike off to canter," Werth explained
is a master at kur riding and is not scared of taking major risks
she earned kur silver with a big 86.625% score
"That was in the bag," the 44-year old Werth commented after the kur
"It would be nice if I can continue like that internationally."
Kur bronze went to German shooting star Jessica von Bredow-Werndl on Swiss judge Beatrice Burchler-Keller's Dutch stallion Unee BB (by Gribaldi)
The pair achieved 83.65% to finished third with a personal best score
"First the canter tour was brilliant in the Grand Prix
then the trot tour in the Special and in the kur both came together," the 28-year old Werndl explained
Balve also staged a Nurnberger Burgpokal qualifier for Developing Prix St Georges horses and a Piaff Forderpreis qualifier for Under 25 Grand Prix riders
Both classes were won by German young rider team member Charlott Maria Schurmann
Aboard the Hanoverian licensed stallion Edward (by Embassy) she won the Prix St Georges Special with 75.829% and aboard her own Burlington (by Breitling x Rohdiamant) she aced the Short Grand Prix with 74.651%

Jessica von Bredow-Werndl claimed her third Grand Prix title in her career in a thriller Grand Prix Special at the 2023 German Dressage Championships in Balve
After securing the title on Dalera BB in 2020 and 2021
Jessica missed out on Balve in 2022 as she was on a pregnancy break
She returned to competition in the winter of 2022-2023 and won the 2023 World Cup Finals in Omaha
Balve was the horse's first outdoor show since the 2021 European Championships in Hagen
The German Championships for senior Grand Prix riders consists of two rounds
the technical Grand Prix Special counts for a set of medals
and the Grand Prix Kur to Music is used to decide the Freestyle medals
Hot favourites for the title were World Cup winners Von Bredow-Werndl and Beatrice Burchler-Keller's 16-year old Trakehner mare Dalera BB (by Easy Game x Handryk)
but after having mistakes in both tempi change diagonal
the door was wide open for Sönke Rothenberger and the 9-year old Danish warmblood (Kjaerholms) Fendi (by Frankin x Diamond) to stake his claim
Isabell Werth on QuantazThe tempi changes were the stumbling block for several pairs in Balve and it led to an unexpected leaderboard
In the Grand Prix Dalera scored 79.400% for second place and Fendi won with 79.760%
not with his 2022 World Championship team horse Duke of Britain (by Dimaggio x Rubinstein) but with Hof Kasselmann's Bluetooth (by Bordeaux x Riccione) on 77.540%
Isabell Werth and Madeleine Winter-Schulze & Victoria Max-Theurer's Quantaz (by Quaterback x Hohenstein) were fourth on 76.720%
who without a doubt showed the best rein back and piaffe work of the day
struggled with both tempi lined and placed fifth with 76.380%
It was the first time since winning the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo that Von Bredow and Dalera did not place first
They held an unbeaten streak at nine international shows since July 2021
Jessica took to Instagram after her second place in the Grand Prix and stated
"„You always win…“ how much this sentence annoyed me again and again…
It is always work and training to have everything together HERE and NOW
I started the two-time changes far too early and unprepared
and it ended in an absolute salad of changes (grade point average 3.2)
Counting mistakes in the ones didn't make it any better."
"Dalera already felt sensationally good while warming up and then also in the test
And that is the most important," she continued
"There's nothing to correct - I just should concentrate better."
Jessica von Bredow-Werndl on Dalera BBAnd that is what she did in the Grand Prix Special
horse and rider were back in tune and produced another stellar ride which visualised why they are the reigning Olympic and European champion pair: beauty
Perfection is not possible and Dalera's walk is not that world class
Their halt at entry was not immobile with Dalera scraping the front leg
but then a sublime trot - passage part followed in which her naturally trot work stood out
This is not a horse that has this produced
The passage was so regular and light footed
The extended walk had plenty of overtrack and relaxation and even the collected was better as Jessica cleverly kept the rhythm more clear by flexing her a little bit to the side
The first piaffe was not so balanced and leaning on the forehand (with the frontleg not straight under the shoulder but more under the belly)
the second one was so much better and the transitions effortless
the exit of the pirouette left could have ben tidier and there was a loss in rhythm in the final trot extension but the final centerline was seamless and the end halt good
Sönke Rothenberger on Kjaerholms FendiSönke and his very young Grand Prix horse Fendi produced a wonderful test with so many highlights but it was all very green
The judges were hyper enthusiastic and rewarded the test with a 79.882% for second place and silver
There was good crossing in the trot half passes
the passage was very expressive and off the ground but
In in the trot extensions the horse was kept a bit short in the neck
The extended walk had good overtrack and rhythm
although not the strides were not the longest
The piaffe in general has plenty of potential but at this point too much on the forehand
The pair struggled a bit with the strike off to canter
Although the tempi changes are ground covering
they are not yet very confirmed with Sönke swinging in the saddle and Fendi swinging the hindquarters
There were several mistakes in the one tempi changes
otherwise the eager judges would certainly have been over 80%
Fendi shows tons of ability to collect and sit
This horse is definitely one to watch for Riesenbeck this summer
Frederic Wandres on Duke of BritainFrederic Wandres was back on best form with Hof Kasselmann's 16-year old Hanoverian gelding Duke of Britain
who stands out by being so classically correct despite not having the most powerful motor behind
Especially in the piaffe the horse can be a metronome
There was still a bobble in the two tempi changes but the pirouettes were well ridden and they finished with a strong final centerline
Werth has already won 17 titles in her career and tomorrow she will certainly try again to get on that podium in the freestyle but it will be a challenge

Prophecy Fest 2023 The Vision Bleak by Carsten Brand
Prophecy Fest was founded in 2015 and already sold out at the first edition
This singular event for dark and innovative music takes place in the Balver Kulturhöhle (“Balve culture cave”) in the Hönnetal (“Valley of Hönne”) near the town of Balve in the Sauerland region of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia
The naturally formed karst cave has been used by humans since the early stone age (palaeolithic)
This important archaeological site has yielded remains from many periods through the ages until medieval times
According to Germanic legend transmitted through the old Icelandic Thidreksaga
the mythical blacksmith Wayland came to this cave to learn his magical craft from the dwarven masters that were dwelling there
The gravity of its history and the special acoustics of the Balver Cave provide a unique atmosphere that perfectly echoes the musical spirit of Prophecy Festy
For detailed information on accommodation, travel, and parking please consult the Prophecy Festival page: https://fest.prophecy.de
The page will be updated regularly towards the festival
With Triptykon the pioneering musical genius of mastermind Tom Gabriel “Warrior” Fischer continues to change the course of heavy music
His achieved legacy with HELLHAMMER and CELTIC FROST can hardly be overstated
on which Nordic black metal and later also the global scene have been built upon
Triptykon shape the sound of coming generations with their dark avant-garde creations
East German avant-garde black metal outfit Farsot will release their fourth album “Life Promised Death” in February 2024
The forthcoming full-length revolves around a conceptual story about life slipping out of hand
One remarkable aspect of Farsot is that of the band’s five current members
three remain from the original founders and four of them have been playing together for at least 20 years
Therefore it is only fitting that Farsot will celebrate their 25th anniversary in the cave
The show jumping star rides Checkmate to a new title in the German Show Jumping Championships
Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum had already won the ladies’ division of the German Show Jumping Championships twice
she decided to try something new and compete in the men’s division
“It was my dream to win the German Championships in the men’s division
This title had been missing in my collection,” Michaels-Beerbaum said
And in a bid to prove that she has two horses capable of representing Germany at the 2008 Olympics in Hong Kong
Michaels-Beerbaum rode Checkmate to the win
“Checkmate isn’t far behind Shutterfly,” Michaels-Beerbaum said
Shutterfly is the headliner star of Michaels-Beerbaum’s string—two-time FEI World Cup Final winner and her ride for the individual bronze at the 2006 World Equestrian Games (Germany)
“I’m very proud of Checkmate,” she continued
For some time I tried to ride him more under control
but we did not get very well along with each other like that
With his immense jumping capability he almost always gets well over the fence.”
The Hanoverian gelding stands often in Shutterfly’s shadow but replaced him at the 2005 European Championships (Italy)
in which Germany won team gold and placed fifth at the 2006 FEI World Cup Final (Malaysia)
Though the German Show Jumping Championships weren’t an official Olympic trial
course designer Frank Rothenberger built four rounds that tested riders and horses at the highest level
“This had been really a course of Olympic dimensions,” said Michaels-Beerbaum
who was the only rider to jump clear in all four rounds
Four combinations jumped double-clear in the two rounds of the first leg: Michaels-Beerbaum
Alois Pollmann-Schweckhorst aboard Lord Luis
But none of them could match that performance in the second two rounds except Michaels-Beerbaum
the ladies’ championships gold and silver were decided after Eva Bitter aboard Argelith’s Niels and Pia-Luise Aufreht aboard MBC Sandy jumped three clear rounds each
While Bitter had a fast time in the jump-off
Aufreht had a rail at the second fence to place second
“At the moment three of my five top horses are hurt
I had had some moments when I was pretty down
To win this title now is a new motivation for me to go on,” she said.
It might seem odd that Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum competed and won in the men’s division of the German Show Jumping Championships
The division of the championships into men’s and ladies’ sections started decades ago as an attempt to encourage female show jumpers in Germany
Helena Weinberg became the first woman to compete in the men’s division—she did so because the men’s division was a selection trial for international championships
In 1998 she was the first female rider to be nominated for a German international championship team; she was the reserve rider for the 1998 World Equestrian Games
There is a difference in difficulty in the two divisions
The ladies’ championship consists of three rounds over slightly lower
The men’s championship is four rounds at international championship level
A female rider who wants to prove her worth at the international level and be considered for a championship team can compete in the men’s championship
The ladies’ championship has become a highlight of the season for female show jumpers who aren’t in contention to be part in a German squad for an international championship
The male riders don’t mind the head-to-head competition
Alois Pollmann-Schweckhorst joked that next year he wants to compete in the ladies’ championships and wants to become the national champion of the female riders

Sönke Rothenberger has withdrawn Cosmo from competing at the 2019 German Dressage Championships in Balve on 14 - 16 June 2019
where World Champions Isabell Werth and Bella Rose are set to make their show come back since the 2018 World Equestrian Games
Rothenberger and his 11-year old Dutch warmblood Cosmo (by Van Gogh x Landjonker) were hot favourites for a medal at the German Championships
which is the first mandatory team selection trial out of team for the 2019 European Championships
Unfortunately Cosmo developed some colic signs in Balve on Thursday 13 June and the team vet recommended them to travel to the local equine clinic as a precaution
"Of course I'm super sad that I can't compete in Balve
because Cosmo felt super switched on in training this morning," said Rothenberger late last night
"But nothing comes above Cosmo's well being
He's already making a fresh impression again and we hope he stays stable
Balve remains to be a show-to-watch with the entire German A-squad present and Isabell Werth making her long-awaited come back on her 2018 World Champion Bella Rose

This is significant because Balve is one of two mandatory selection trials for the German Olympic dressage team
The second trial will be held at the Aachen CDIO5* (7 July)
Isabell Werth took over the ride on the 10-year-old mare in January following Andreas Helgstrand’s ban from competition
“Unfortunately Wendy suffered a minor injury in the paddock on Sunday and suffered a bruise,” said Isabell
“This needs some rest now and that’s why she won’t start in Balve.”
Isabell will compete her World Cup finalist DSP Quantaz at the championships
“Quantaz now bears the responsibility alone on his shoulders,” added Isabell
but I’m still looking forward to Quantaz and Balve.”
DSP Quantaz was part of Germany’s silver medal-winning team at last year’s European Dressage Championships
But Wendy De Fontaine’s scores have been trending slightly higher than her more experienced stablemate
Both horses have done three grand prix tests in 2024
Wendy De Fontaine has an average across those outings of 75.47% to DSP Quantaz’s 74.96%
Wendy De Fontaine’s scores have also been increasing in that period (74.35% to 77%) while DSP Quantaz’s scores have been decreasing (76.87% to 72.24%)
Australian team stalwart Lyndal Oatley has withdrawn from contention for selection for the Paris Olympics and announced the retirement of her top ride Elvive
“As a strong contender for this year’s Olympic team
I had high hopes for this mega-talented mare,” said Lyndal
“Elvive sustained an injury in the final moments before entering the arena in Lier for the special
where she was in top form and was highly placed in the grand prix
Lyndal added that her 10-year-old mare Dante’s Herzchen
will not be stepping up for Olympic team contention
“This talented mare has an amazing future ahead and I want to give her the time to develop and nurture this process,” she said
“Horses like her don’t come along very often in a lifetime and her welfare and best interests come first.”
Anna Schölermann's Grand Prix horse Triple A has moved on to a new rider as an Under 25 prospect for former German young riders team member Elisabeth von Wulffen
Triple A is a 12-year old Westfalian by Totilas out of Die Lustige (by De Niro x Weltmeyer x Airport)
He is bred and was owned by Andreas Müller-Lammers
The chestnut stallion was first competed as a 4-year old in 2016 by Emily Schettel
followed by Lune Karolin Müller and Charlotte Tollhopf in 2017
Halfway through 2018 the ride went to Christin Lübbert and then Triple A disappeared from the local show scene for a while
He resurfaced under Hubertus Schmidt's assistant rider Anna Schölermann at Grand Prix level in 2021
They made their international show debut at the CDI Mannheim in May 2022 in the Under 25 division to mixed results and the pair became more active on the show scene in 2023 with competition starts in Ankum
They showed in the Under 25 tour at the CDI Hagen in September
winning the short Grand Prix with 72.077% and placing second in the Kur
Elisabeth von WulffenThe chestnut has now moved to the Von Wulffen family as an Under 25 ride for Elisabeth
Elisabeth von Wulffen made her international show debut as a junior rider in 2017 aboard Dancing World (by Dancier x Wolkenstein II) and competed hm and Babylon (by Belissimo M x Florestan) through 2019 at that level
In 2021 Fiesta Bonita (by For Compliment x Rubinstein) was het international ride at Young Riders level and they won team silver and placed fifth in the individual test at the 2021 European Young Riders Championships in Oliva Nova
It was the mare's last international so far
As of November 2021 she began competing Damiro (by De Niro x Sandro Hit) internationally
Her last CDI start was two years ago at the CDI Lier in March 2022
In 2023 she extensively competed nationally with Dancing World and Carantas (by Carabas x Canto) until August 2023
The Von Wulffen family also owns Florine
which was originally bought in November 2020 for Elisabeth to ride
but so far her trainer Bianca Nowag has been competing the mare at international Grand Prix level herself

Jessica von Bredow-Werndl edged out the world number one and 15-time German Champion
and crowned herself the 2020 German senior Grand Prix Champion in the Grand Prix Special at the Nationals held in Balve on 18 - 20 September 2020
The German Grand Prix Championships feature two podiums: a podium for the technical champion (decided by the Grand Prix Special) and a podium for the Kur champions (decided by the Kur to Music)
Show host Rosalie von Landsberg-Velen welcomed Germany's elite Grand Prix riders at her stable in Balve
This year only a small group of just 11 riders competed at the nationals; several of them not fulfilling the "standard" criterion for Championship participation
Due to corona they received a special invitation from German team trainer Monica Theodorescu to compete in Balve
The classes were judged this year by 5* judges Ebert
In the technical championship it certainly was a neck-to-neck race between Isabell Werth on Weihegold and Jessica von Bredow-Werndl on Dalera
Werth and Christine Arns-Krogman's 15-year old Oldenburg mare Weihegold (by Don Schufro x Sandro Hit) began a bit ring rusty in the Grand Prix
despite her victories at the CDI Achleiten in July
There were a few small niggles in the test and the extended walk was below par
Werth and Weihegold still topped the Grand Prix with 81.600% but had Von Bredow-Werndl on Beatrice Burchler-Keller's 13-year old Trakehner mare Dalera BB (by Easy Game x Handryk) breathing down her neck with 81.340%
Jessica and Dalera BBIn the Grand Prix Special
the tables were turned and Von Bredow-Werndl won the class with a massive 83.549%
almost one full percentage ahead of Werth and Weihegold on 82.569%
A mistake in the tempi changes pushed the score down
With her number one spot in the Special Jessica ended on the highest step of the podium with the gold medal
The technical bronze medal went to the 2019 German GP Special Champion
Gestut Fohlenhof's 12-year old Hanoverian Faustus (by Falsterbo x Forrest xx)
This duo was third in the Grand Prix with a personal best score of 78.360% and third in the Special with another PR
"I was actually very nervous in the morning (of the GP Special)
Fortunately I got distracted by the young horse I brought along and my son
He reminds me that there are also different things in life." Werndl became the German junior and young rider champion in the early 2000s
Werth remained her cool self and replied "C'est la vie
It was a nice fight with Jessi." Schneider was thrilled with her Faustus
is eager to go and is willing to present himself
Isabell Werth lived up to her reputation as a master in freestyle riding and once more gave a display of her skill in the Freestyle Championship
DorotheeRiding to her 2016 Rio Olympic Games' freestyle
music that also made them win three consecutive World Cup Finals
This is Werth's 16th German Champion's title
Although their Lala Land freestyle makes hearts flutter
Jessica and Dalera BB finished second for silver on 89.350%
The bronze medal went to Dorothee Schneider and Faustus on a score of 81.600%
There was not a moment where I would say we lost points there
Weihe gave it her all from start to finish," said Werth
"Each title makes me happy and is emotional
but I can live with yesterday's results in the Special."
It could have worked out and of course I wanted to win
actually I'm even more motivated to continue working," said Werndl
She has got more strength and conditioning
But she can do more as it all comes easy to her."
Results - 2020 German Dressage Championships - Balve
Isabell Werth has won the German Dressage Championships for the 13th time in her career
she rode the 11-year old Westfalian gelding Emilio to victory in the Grand Prix and Special and earned the gold medal in the technical championship which was ridden over two rounds on Friday 9 and Saturday 10 June 2017
The silver medal went to Sönke Rothenberger on Cosmo and bronze to Hubertus Schmidt on Imperio
The Kur on Sunday 11 June 2017 will determine a separate set of medals for the artistic skills of the riders
Werth and Madeleine Winter-Schulze's Emilio (by Ehrenpreis x Cacir AA) were a league of their own in Balve
winning the Grand Prix with 82.060% and the Special with a whopping 84.275%
Balve is traditionally known for its huge (inflated?!) scores and this year it was no different
notwithstanding the fact that the German elite showed excellent riding also this year
Today he stepped out of Weihegold's shadow," said Werth after winning gold
"The way he went on both days was simply sovereign
very routined and today even more compact and closed in the frame
He was on the dot in the piaffe, passage and transitions
The 47-year old Werth renewed her title as German champion
extending the one from 2016 on Weihegold and earning the 13th one in her career
She edged out 22-year old Sönke Rothenberger on the 10-year old Dutch gelding Cosmo (by Van Gogh x Landjonker) who twice finished second with 79.700% after some issues in the Grand Prix and 80.804% in the Special
It is Rothenberg's first national medal as a senior Grand Prix rider
"He was more awake today than yesterday and was again looking in the same corner," said Sönke
but it bothered him so I could give it my all
There were still a few issues here and there
The 57-year old Hubertus Schmidt won bronze after two third places aboard the Trakehner stallion Imperio (by Connery x Balfour xx)
In the Grand Prix they got 76.340% and in the Special they posted a score of 77.196%
"In the winter we had a little dip where he wasn't going so well
In the trainings at home I was always very happy with him and today it was really a nice test again," said Schmidt
Team trainer Monica Theodorescu was extremely pleased with the performances of her top riders in Balve
"Today several combinations and horses added an extra notch and improved
Emilio has become more secure and mature in the movements and confirmed in the Grand Prix."

Images by Julia Rau, www.rauphoto.deThe show schedule for the Dressage sensation Totilas and Matthias Rath begins at Pferd International München-Riem
when at Schockemöhle’s place in Mühlen when Matthias Rath’s big yellow and black trailer headed towards Linsenhoff‘s Kronberg
the landlord Rath and Lady Linsenhoff awaited them
as did ten camera teams and 55 journalists
ready and waiting for Germany’s new super star
Few journalists were present from the horse scene; by far the most were regional and federal agents
On one hand the interest of the horse sport insiders is dropping
The horse community wants to see Rath and Totilas in action
Now the schedule will be first München (2-5 June)
followed by the third weekend in a row the German National Championship in Balve (16-19 June)
At his first show in München Totilas will not be allowed to start in the World Dressage Masters tour as every WDM-starter must have acquired two international Grand Prix tests of at least 64%
With the Rath-Totilas combination yet to compete a win in München could change that
The Totilas team is keeping this option open
They are expected to start in the Special Tour in Wiesbaden and then look ahead to Balve where they will present their new Freestyle for the first time
leaving only the transitions and fine tuning
Three Olympic horses have been stabled at Linsenhof’s Schafhof in Kronberg
and it is everyone’s dream that Totilas will add to the list after 2012
Adular competed in the 1956 at the Olympic Games in Stockholm with Liselott Linsenhoff winning an individual bronze and team silver
earned the team gold in 1968 in Mexico and celebrated the individual gold medal and team silver in 1972 in München
the one who with Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff completed the German gold team in Seoul in 1988
the focused landlady Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff explained
“even if the road is still far to go.” The Schafhof estate had prepared for the arrival of Totilas in detail
A complete EU-service station has been set up
with mating rooms and manufacturing pharmacy
“We now perform as an extended service station of Paul Schockemöhle”
Three times a week a team comes over from Mühlen
to collect Totilas and take the semen directly with them
Because of Totilas’ double duties a large part of the stables has had to be secluded
as he is not to cross the paths of the other horses
“These balls were brought along with him from his stable at Edward Gal.”
celebrity Totilas emerged from his stable to the training square and Mathias Rath
his father Klaus Martin Rath and Totilas demonstrated a training section
During the training one can easily see that the two get along well
as they easily showed movements like pirouettes
piaffe and tempi changes without hesitations or tension
“We will just have to wait and see if all falls into place during a show in a test as well”
Klaus Martin Rath tempered on the enthusiasm
Totilas will be competing for the first time in eight months
the last occasion when Edward Gal won three gold medals at the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky
However Totilas is used to big crowds and attention and Matthias is as happy as can be with this incredible chance to train and show him
The horse-world will have to wait three more weeks and than we will know

Aachen will the be second and final selection trial
The German team for the CDIO Aachen includes:

As Balve was the first competition for the 16-year old Showtime since the 2021 Olympics last July
Schneider decided to withdrawn him from the freestyle at the Nationals
"It was known before that in Balve you had to ride three tests if you wanted to be on the CDIO Aachen team," Theodorescu told Dressursport Deutschland
so she will start in the CDI tour in Aachen."
Isabell Werth will also be bringing her second horse to Aachen for the CDI tour
"We'll have to wait and see how Emilio develops," said Werth

Matthias Rath will be riding Thiago GS at the 2022 German Dressage Championships in Balve this weekend instead of Destacado FRH
The latter sustained a small injury and needs rest
After winning the 2020 Nurnberger Burgpokal for Developing PSG horses
Destacado competed on the 2021 Louisdor Cup circuit for Developing Grand Prix horses and made a winning international Grand Prix debut at the CDI Crozet in August last year
The chestnut put himself in the race of German team consideration for the World Championships in Herning after he scored 75.217% at the CDI Mannheim
The 2022 German Dressage Championships in Balve are the first of two German team selection trials
Yesterday Semmieke Rothenberger withdrew because of a personal injury and today Rath called off his entry with Destacado
"The original plan was for me to compete with Desti in the German championship," Rath explained
he has a small injury which is why we decided to not compete him until he is 100% again
It’s just a precaution since we do not want to take any risk at all with him."
Instead Rath will be saddling his young Grand Prix horse Thiago GS (by Totilas x Warkant) in Balve
Isabell Werth has announced the withdrawal of her number one Grand Prix horse Weihegold from the 2017 German Dressage Championship
which is the first mandatory team selection trial leading up to the 2017 European Championships
Weihegold is a 12-year old Oldenburg mare by Don Schufro x Sandro Hit x Figaro and owned by Christine Arns-Krogman
Under Isabell Werth Weihegold won team gold and individual silver at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio and most recently she won the 2017 World Cup Finals in Omaha
She is Isabell's number one choice to ride on the German team for the 2017 European Championships in Gothenburg in August
The 2017 German Championships take place in Balve on 8 - 11 June 2017 and is the first of two team observation and selection trials
Weihegold will not be competing in Balve though due to an inflammation
"It is really such a pity and I'm truly sad that I can't ride Weihegold in Balve," Werth told Dressursport Deutschland
the online platform exclusively for German squad riders managed by Kim Kreling
"On the other side I'm happy we're just dealing with a harmless inflammation due to a bacterial infection."
Werth is currently listed in the top ten of the FEI Riders Ranking with no less than 3 horses; an unprecedented feat
Russian dressage horse owner Elena Knyaginicheva has placed a second horse in training with Ingrid Klimke
this time the 2014 PSI Auction price highlight SPH Dante
In May Klimke was allocated the ride on Elena's 8-year old Oldenburg gelding Bluetooth (by Bordeaux x Riccione)
which she bought at the 2013 PSI Auction for 1 million euro
Bluetooth was trained by Eva Möller and Steffen Frahm
and then taken up to schooling Grand Prix level by Insa Hansen
Klimke made her show debut on Bluetooth at national level during the CDI Wiesbaden
Knyaginicheva has now also moved SPH Dante from Hof Kasselmann to Klimke's yard in Munster
Elena and her husband Sergej purchased the now 10-year old Australian bred Hanoverian (by Welfenadel x Dormello) at the 2014 PSI Auction for the record price of 2.8 million euro
The horse stayed at Hof Kasselmann and was trained to Grand Prix level by Nicole Wego
The combination Klimke-Dante already made its show debut in the national medium tour class at the 2018 German Championships in Balve
They finished fifth in the Intermediaire II with 67.684%

As sole UK distributor of the alloy wheel brands produced by the Alcar Group – AEZ
Dotz and Enzo – Wheelwright Ltd is supplied from the Austrian firm’s European facilities
including the Neuenrade-Küntrop plant in Germany
which in April was renamed from AEZ Produktion GmbH to Alcar Leichtmetallräder Produktion GmbH
This is Alcar’s main alloy wheel production facility; the plant exclusively caters to the aftermarket and has a production capacity between one and 1.2 million aluminium rims
The production portfolio covers all four abovementioned brands – these are manufactured in 14 to 22-inch sizes for passenger cars
“Our high-quality production facilities are on the cutting edge of technology,” comments Norbert Frohner
in 2012 the company invested a further €2.26 million in the 2005-opened Neuenrade facility and installed (amongst other things) new low-pressure casting machines
This modernisation measure facilitates savings of more than €450,000 a year in maintenance costs
The plant currently uses around 900 tonnes of aluminium each month and is able to produce 5,000 alloy rims each day
output from Neuenrade is housed in a new facility that
and ruled by absolute chaos within.” This is Alcar’s high-tech warehouse in Balve
Around 90 per cent of all wheels stored in the warehouse come from the factory in Neuenrade and most of the remainder from Alcar’s plant in Indonesia
A very small proportion are from offtake partners
Two trucks typically commute back and forth between the factory and warehouse during the week; it would have been ideal to locate the new warehouse facility alongside the plant
however this was not possible for several reasons
the wheel maker needed a site where up to 7,250 tonnes of product can be stored
reports that unexpected difficulties arose during the construction phase in Balve
and the construction scheduled was delayed due to the time taken to ram piles into the ground
It took almost a year until the floor slab was ready
but after that the construction went ahead much faster than expected
and the first wheels were stored at the site on 23 June 2014
Up to 700,000 aluminium wheels from Alcar’s AEZ
Enzo and Dotz Survival can be stored in the warehouse
ready in the warehouse for collection and shipping to distribution partners throughout Europe
Currently around 450,000 wheels are housed there
which means expansion can easily be accommodated should it be needed in future
the investment in this facility lay between €12.5 million and €15 million
Ten full-time employees work at the warehouse
and this can be complemented by additional personnel during peak periods so that the single shift work system can be bumped up to a two-shift format

« Back to the Hydrema (UK) Ltd profile
The company was founded by Albert Rapp in 1949 and was later taken over by his sons after he passed away in 1973
From 1979 the company was led by the managing director
Birgit Gödde entered the business as a partner and is now successfully managing the 20-staff company single-handedly
The atmosphere within the company is very relaxed and collegial
because the opinions of the employees are listened to when making investments
clearly remembers his first encounter with Hydrema
“We were at the TiefbauLIVE in Karlsruhe and when the rain came
we sheltered in the tent at Hydrema and looked at the excavator
We were so impressed by the purely visual perception of the machine that we continued to work with the product
We then coordinated a demonstration with the local dealer
Compact and yet large ranges: This is one of the many features that distinguish the Hydrema city excavator
A comparison with another well-known manufacturer immediately confirmed the impression that one could already infer from press releases and brochures; Christian Fuchs
explains: "The feeling of well-being inside the cabin of the Hydrema is characterized by the significantly wider seat
Just as important are the hydraulic power and the stability
We opted for the wide axles because of the power with which the extremely compact machine is equipped
it is possible for the machine’s upper carriage to slew as it stays within the width of the wheels
No other in this class is so compact with this performance.“
The company's range of services includes road construction
the emergency power supply is being put in the ground for the pumped-storage facility at the Sorpe dam and reservoir
Christian Fuchs explains the importance of this construction project: “The water is used to supply the VELTINS brewery with rinsing water
In the event of a power failure in the vicinity of the dam
entire companies in the region are affected
”Breaking up the asphalt of the road surface is a minor matter for the MX14
the narrow street preferred by the residents can only be used in one lane controlled by a traffic light
Christian Fuchs therefore has to repeatedly move the excavator to the side for traffic on the incline of the road
"This is not a problem with the MX14 either
because the powerful drive train allows the machine to go back and forth without any problems
this maneuver can also be mastered in flowing movements for the experienced excavator operator; just as quickly as the excavator has driven away from the construction site
the excavator is just as swiftly brought back into position
Operator Christian Fuchs was very positive about the comfort in the cab
the overall width of the workplace and the view
Another important argument in favor of the Hydrema excavator was the noise
It is also clearly audible for Patrick Westhoff
who works in the trench at the construction site: "The excavator is pleasantly quiet with its 175 HP
who works outside the machine." But the operator Christian Fuchs has also noticed that the excavator is extremely quiet in the cab
Helmut Frantz from the responsible dealer DiTec himself was surprised by the speed and clarity of the purchasing decision
“The machine was very convincing in the demonstration
including the mounted equipment on the demonstration machine
We only had to integrate another quick-hitch system into the excavator
A happy customer and a happy sales man from left: Excavator driver Christian Fuchs
construction worker Patrick Westhoff and technical manager Klaus Westphal
For Hydrema sales manager Martin Werthenbach it is always the best statement when the machine is convincing by itself
“I am of course very proud when contact with the dealer is established through the machine
because our machines have numerous unique selling points that are convincing
It is also pleasantly quiet to operate the excavator
as the noise inside the cab is 68 dB (A) at 2200 rpm and 66 dB (A) at 1500 rpm - where the machine still works with an incredible 164 hp
ultimately the composition of all characteristics is decisive
Even though several other brands introduces new models into this segment
the difference remains and the core statement remains valid that no excavator is as compact and at the same time as powerful as the Hydrema
Working with a Hydrema means making use of the unique selling points
Furthermore we like to discuss fleet optimization potential with our customers
because the combination of power and compactness in combination with the fact that our machines are specially built for use with tilt-rotators significantly reduce the number of machines required on a construction site
A Hydrema city excavator equipped with a tiltrotator and pallet fork replaces the wheel loader
which is often only required for pallet use,”explains the Hydrema sales manager
