the harvest of German BEHR lettuces has commenced
It kicked off at the Hessian site in Büttelborn
strategically designed to bridge the availability gap between Spain and the start of the harvest in Northern Germany
"The Spanish season has ended for many crops
It was characterized by excess volumes and poor prices," says Christine Behr
"Due to the unusually warm weather throughout the season
many crops matured for harvest earlier than planned
The constant pressure on the fields has now resulted in this rapid end of the season
we were able to start harvesting at our Hessian operation."

we started harvesting iceberg and butterhead lettuce
the northern BEHR locations in Lower Saxony and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania have also started harvesting head lettuce

Little Gems Renaissance For this year's German season
the cultivation of organic open ground tomatoes and the non-shell-stable potato Annabelle are on the BEHR agenda
they have significantly increased the cultivation volumes of Little Gem and lettuce hearts
"Little Gem was replaced by Mini Romana 25 years ago
and nobody really wanted to deal with Little Gem anymore
the product has been revived in Germany in a new guise
and we can offer it to our customers in 2024," Christine Behr reports
