“The two areas encompass support for atypical learners and addressing the loss of learning among children
as well as promoting the wellbeing of both typical and atypical youth,” she explained during the launch of the centre at the Unimas campus today
Noor Linda highlighted that the centre’s establishment would ensure it becomes more than just an institution—an active community hub with a meaningful impact on society
this centre embodies the values that we uphold as a university—excellence in education
alongside our partnerships with various industries,” she added
The centre is expected to play a crucial role in shaping a healthier and more inclusive future for the younger generation through its research initiatives
Noor Linda also emphasised that the activities conducted at CALW would help unlock the potential of young minds

in one of the largest police raids in the history of the Federal Republic of Germany
some 3,000 officers stormed about 150 locations in 11 federal states and arrested 25 people
who continue to be held in pretrial detention
The state prosecutor has accused them of being members or supporters of a terrorist organisation
the federal prosecutor released a statement saying those arrested belonged to an organisation “that aimed to overturn the existing state order in Germany and replace it with its own form of government.”
Prince Reuss Heinrich XIII was charged by the federal prosecutor as the ringleader
Prince Reuss is a Frankfurt real estate agent and descendant of a Thuringian noble family who ruled the Vogtland region for 700 years
while another leading suspect is the former paratrooper commander Rüdiger von Pescatore
who led the terrorist organisation’s “military arm.”
Among the detainees are also the Berlin judge and former member of parliament of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) Birgit Malsack-Winkemann, as well as former elite soldiers, including the former special forces (KSK) Colonel Maximilian E. The locations searched included the barracks of the KSK in Calw, Baden-Württemberg, which was previously identified as a centre of the right-wing terrorist Hannibal network
so-called “lateral thinkers” (Querdenken) and coronavirus deniers
is estimated to number in the tens of thousands
The Office for the Protection of the Constitution (as Germany’s domestic secret service is called) numbers the supporters of the monarchist and anti-democratic Reichsbürger at 23,000 alone
It considers 10 percent to be prepared to use violence
Last week’s raid was apparently carried out because the Interior Ministry and the chief federal prosecutor’s office feared imminent attacks against state institutions
which would have endangered the lives of high-ranking government officials and politicians
The investigation thus far into the terrorist network within the Reichsbürger milieu has uncovered a strikingly large number of members of the KSK
In addition to the above-mentioned Rüdiger von Pescatore
those figures already known by name include Maximilian Eder
who led an armored grenadier battalion in Kosovo in 1999 and later served in the KSK; Peter Wörner
a trained KSK elite soldier who now works as a survival coach; and Andreas Meyer
who is still active in the KSK as a staff sergeant
Not all of the 54 people under investigation by the public prosecutor’s office are known
so there could well be further KSK members among them
The strong presence of elite soldiers among the terror suspects makes clear that the plans for a putsch were not simply the fantasies of a few crazy individuals
It is now also known that during the first raids
the police secured some 90 weapons and a six-figure sum of cash
and discovered a reference to gold bars worth €6 million allegedly stored in a Swiss safe
the investigators found lists of possible enemy targets
According to the news magazine Der Spiegel
H.’s residence a handwritten list of 10 politicians from Baden-Württemberg
the addresses of the politicians’ electoral district offices and the doctors’ practices were noted
The high number of suspected military personnel is significant for another reason
It shows how closely the growth of fascist terrorist networks and the right-wing extremist milieu on which they are based is connected with the revival of German militarism and the associated rehabilitation of Nazi ideology and the crimes of the Wehrmacht
The emergence of the KSK was directly associated with the transformation of the German army (Bundeswehr) from a territorial defence army into an international intervention force
after the Federal Constitutional Court gave the green light for out-of-area military operations beyond NATO’s borders
It also followed the declaration by Federal President Roman Herzog that the “end of free-riding” had been reached
and Germany had to assume political and military responsibility in the world in correspondence with its increased weight due to reunification
The KSK is trained for special operations behind enemy lines
No data on casualties and losses suffered by the unit is published
It was used during the Yugoslav war in Bosnia and Kosovo
in commando operations in several African countries and especially in the war in Afghanistan
the KSK worked with US Special Forces in the hunt for Taliban members
It is said to have killed more people than the rest of the Bundeswehr combined
The Bundeswehr only responded to inquiries by stating that as a matter of principle it does not count dead enemies
When Colonel Georg Klein ordered an air raid in Kunduz that claimed 142 predominantly civilian lives
Klein was later promoted and the role of the KSK was concealed
which comprises only a little more than 1,000 men
Its almost 30-year history is accompanied by right-wing extremist incidents
which have repeatedly been covered up and trivialised
the founder of the federal police special operations unit GSG 9
published a book at a far-right publishing house placing the KSK in the tradition of the Wehrmacht’s Brandenburg Division
The Brandenburg Division operated behind enemy lines in the war of extermination against the Soviet Union
Günzel was dismissed in 2003 because he expressed his solidarity with anti-Semitic statements by former Christian Democratic Union member of the federal parliament Martin Hohmann
Hohmann is a member of the far-right Alternative for Germany
a member of the critical soldiers’ association Darmstädter Signal
He described Rose as an “enemy within” whom one must “smash.”
Rose had to retire prematurely and pay €3,000 in penance because he had warned of right-wing tendencies in the KSK
was only removed from service in 2019 after he outed himself on Facebook as a Reichsbürger (citizen of the Reich)
KSK soldiers celebrated the retirement of KSK Lieutenant Colonel Pascal D
with far-right rock music and Nazi salutes
They competed in long throws with pig heads
the 45-year-old KSK instructor Philipp Sch
was arrested after the police found explosives
an arsenal of weapons and ammunition and Nazi literature in a raid on his private property
The Hannibal network shows most clearly the extent of the far-right threat posed by the KSK
After the arrest in April 2017 of the military officer Franco A.
it gradually became known that a non-commissioned officer of the elite unit named André S
had built up an extensive right-wing extremist network under the pseudonym Hannibal
The Hannibal network included commando soldiers
They had access to military and security resources and planned to use them to eliminate political opponents
Members of the Hannibal group “Nordkreuz” stole tens of thousands of ammunition rounds from authorities and planned to kidnap political opponents with Bundeswehr transporters and murder them at specified locations
and order lists for caustic lime and hundreds of body bags
Although journalistic investigations revealed numerous details about the far-right conspiracy and the Federal Prosecutor’s Office conducted investigations
most recently as an instructor and security officer in the Calw barracks
he was transferred but not released from the Bundeswehr
There has not even been a disciplinary case mounted against him
The Frankfurt Higher Regional Court rejected putting him on trial due to a lack of “sufficient suspicion of terrorism.”
worked as an informant for the military intelligence service MAD
This reveals the same pattern as in the National Socialist Underground (NSU) case
Numerous informants and employees of the secret services who promoted far-right forces with state funds were active in the immediate proximity of the far-right NSU trio that murdered 10 people
The files in the case are still under lock and key
Parliamentary committees of inquiry were denied access to them
The obvious conclusion is that there is a connection between the Hannibal group and the Reichsbürger Network
which the Federal Public Prosecutor is now investigating
the investigation will either be stonewalled or limited to alleged “individual perpetrators” as in previous cases—the NSU trial
the attack on Cologne’s Mayor Henriette Reker
the murder of Kassel’s regional President Walter Lübcke and the terrorist attacks in Halle and Hanau
The far-right structures extend deep into the state apparatus and are closely linked to the return of militarism
the Bundeswehr cooperates with armies that worship Nazi collaborators during the Second World War as heroes
Historians such as Jörg Baberowski and Timothy Snyder
The ruling elite needs the far right to suppress the growing opposition to militarism and its devastating social consequences
Having been forced to move against the Reichsbürger Network
the ruling class will use the exposure of the fascist coup plot as justification to strengthen the state and take action against left-wing opponents
Only one week after the raid against the Reichsbürger
the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Neuruppin ordered nationwide house searches of “last generation” activists
The Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the environmental group for “the initial suspicion of formation or support of a criminal association
trespassing and coercion.” The pretext for the legal attack is a protest against the refinery PCK Schwedt
in which members of the group are said to have turned off the emergency valves of the pipeline that carries oil from Rostock to Schwedt
The research is part of the investigation into Il Consiglio
the right-wing extremist group led by Prince Henry XIII of Reuss who was planning a coup d'état in Germany
La Federal Attorney General (GBA) is investigating the possibility that a secret arsenal is located at the barracks of the German Army Special Forces Command (KSK) in Calw
As reported by the radio and television station "Ard"
the searches are part of the investigation into Il Consiglio
The organization was defeated on December 7
including the aristocrat himself and Ruediger von Pescatore
Other arrests of subversives occurred in the following months
von Pescatore commanded the 251st parachute battalion from 1993 to July 1996
The unit was disbanded in September of the same year to partly merge with the KSK
von Pescatore he was arrested and convicted of stealing weapons from the depots of the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr)
In the organization of the Prince of Reuss
the former officer was in command of the paramilitary component
the Homeland Defense Companies recruited from serving and retired soldiers as well as from the reservists of the Bundeswehr
A further recruitment pool was the veterans of the National People's Army (NVA)
the Armed Forces of the German Democratic Republic
"a soldier" of the Bundeswehr reported to the police that von Pescatore had buried weapons and ammunition years ago at the KSK barracks in Calw
the then commander of the 251st parachute battalion allegedly illegally appropriated hundreds of Kalashnikov assault rifles and dozens of Makarov semi-automatic pistols
already supplied to the Nva and the police forces of the Democratic Republic German
the GBA began searching for the arsenal hidden in the training camp outside the KSK barracks in Calwwithout finding anything

German prosecutors are investigating an elite military unit over allegations that it held a party where far-right activities took place
the tossing of a pig's head and listening to far-right rock music
They are probing the country's Special Force Commando, or KSK, its elite unit of military personnel, a spokesperson for prosecutors in the German city of Tübingen told German news site Deutsche-Welle. "We are examining the incident," Nicolaus Wegele said
The claims stem from investigations by several German radio stations
It reportedly took place at an April farewell party for one of the unit's lieutenants at a shooting range near the southwest city of Stuttgart
Soldiers allegedly organized a pig's head toss
performed Nazi salutes and listened to far-right music by the German nationalist band Sturmwehr
A woman claimed that via Tinder a soldier invited her to the party as a "prize" for the unit's commander
and the unit's soldiers even flew her in from Hamburg
The use of a pig's head is an anti-Muslim and anti-Jewish sgesture among far-right sympathizers
as both religions oppose the eating of the animal
The activities took place at an assault course setup for the farewell party
a climbing wall and a throwing competition with pig's heads
After the departing lieutenant was to complete the course
a soldier messaged the woman that "he is allowed to take you into the tent." Der Spiegel reported that the troop became too drunk and it went no further
The allegations are an embarrassing episode for the Bundeswehr
the premier military personnel of the German armed forces
The KSK unit was created to liberate German hostages from conflict zones across the world
and while it is discouraged in public discourse
far-right sentiment in the country still exists
with thousands of neo-Nazi sympathizers attending rallies and concerts in recent years
The refugee crisis saw more than a million refugees enter Germany as the Syrian conflict continued
and a rise in far-right hate crime followed
and anti-Islam marches led by a far-right faction known as PEGIDA grew in its numbers
The German military has also opened an investigation into the party
"Showing the Hitler salute is not a question of taste
Playing music that disparages a democratic Germany is not a question of taste," German military commissioner Hans-Peter Bartels told Deutsche-Welle

The 2nd Kommandokräfte (Commando Forces) Company of Germany’s Kommando Spezialkräfte (KSK) special forces was disbanded on 1 August
The company was disbanded by KSK commander Brigadier General Markus Kreitmayr during a mustering of the troops on 30 July at Graf-Zeppelin Barracks in Calw
The KSK’s 2nd Kommandokräfte Company was disbanded by KSK commander Brigadier General Markus Kreitmayr during a mustering of the troops at the Graf-Zeppelin Barracks in Calw on 30 July
The disbandment is part of a restructuring of the KSK ordered by German Defence Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer on 1 July
citing rising right wing and anti-constitutional attitudes among its members since 2017 and 48,000 rounds of ammunition and 62 kg of explosives unaccounted for by the KSK
KSK training and international co-operation has been halted until further notice and its deployment commitments are being taken over by other units as far as possible
KSK training will be taken over by the German Army’s Infantry School under the army’s training command
The Bundeswehr’s Centre for Leadership Development and Civic Education will oversee KSK training
The length of time commando officers and NCOs can serve in key positions has been limited and teams will rotate among KSK companies
Kramp-Karrenbauer and Generalinspekteur der Bundeswehr (Germany’s armed forces chief) General Eberhard Zorn have ordered a general inventory through the Division Schnelle Kräfte (DSK) rapid reaction division
and equipment and the introduction of a digital system to keep track of ammunition and explosives

Airbus A320 fuselage and Actros SLT truck were part of an unusual convoy
attracted the attention of those gathered on the route
The history of this transport begins in Estonia
After the Airbus A320 was damaged during a complicated landing
it was considered that it could still be used as a scientific aid
the plane in a special convoy was transported to the special forces training ground in Calw (Schwarzwald
where it will be used for training courses on the protection of airline passengers
The Actros SLT truck with 630 hp was used to carry the load
The German transport company Paule loaded the plane in Tallinn (Estonia)
The truck and its cargo were transported by ferry across the Baltic Sea to the dock in Lubeck (northern Germany)
the convoy went on the next route passing Hamburg
the convoy had to change route twice and leave the highway to avoid passing through low bridges
On a narrow and quite steep route leading to the training ground
those responsible for transport decided to join the second Actros to the convoy
the truck duo delivered the load without any problems

Fragrance on the Fly: Why Pocket Perfumes Are Perfect for Airplane TravelSponsored Article 6.05.2025
papers and files are piled up all over the place – perhaps a reflection of the jumble of thoughts
plans and projects inside the theologian’s head
As leader of the new University Research Priority Program (URRP) Digital Religion(s)
With great enthusiasm – but also exuding calm
as if he were indeed relaxing in a garden or cloister – he explains the background to the unique initiative
“I’m eager to see where the journey will lead,” says Schlag
We don’t know how digitalization of religious practices will look in 10 or 12 years
But the digital revolution has already unleashed an incredible dynamism in all areas of society
“We are hardly able to keep up with the changing phenomena,” says Schlag
Sometimes his research feels like trying to catch butterflies
You chase after one and in the process discover a dozen other
Schlag is thrilled about the URPP: “It enables us to conduct future-oriented research in the best sense.”
The researchers will initially gather information about the expression and the effects of religious content
alignments and positioning in digital media
the pandemic accelerated the pace of digital change
Such changes range from ministers on Twitter and pastoral care via chat to religious influencers
fora and initiatives exploring questions of faith
Some of these innovative practices may not stand the test of time
The barriers that prevent people from taking part in church services are significantly lowered with online services – they make it possible
to follow the funeral of a relative abroad
But isn’t digitalization also leading to increased secularization
he has observed a broad spectrum of religious activity happening online
the more decoupled online religion is becoming from the large institutions
that are not linked to a particular church
“The religious landscape will no longer be characterized by the two great mountains of the Catholic and Protestant churches – they will remain
but new diverse footpaths will form around them,” predicts Schlag
“In the future there will probably be less of the classic church congregation tackling the well-trodden mountain path together
and more a multiplicity of communities striking out on individual paths according to their own religious practices.” But one thing remains
whether online or in traditional settings – the search for transcendence
What about Schlag’s own religious practice
He shakes his head: he prefers direct encounters in the community
and appreciates the spiritual ambiance of the church
But there are certainly moments in the digital world too that he finds moving
for example a thought-provoking “word of the day” tweeted by a colleague
or being able to follow the online services of the church in Edinburgh which the Schlag family attended during an exchange year in Scotland
What makes faith and religion stand out when there are so many options for digital distraction these days
Outside the window there is a flutter of wings as the sparrows take their leave
The water in the fountain continues to tinkle softly
it is the questions about human existence: where do I come from
“If people try to navigate these three questions and turn to certain religious traditions
that for me is an expression of religious practice,” says Schlag
The internet is certainly awash with a plethora of religious-themed content: the Instagrammers “Pfarrer aus Plastik” (plastic priest) and “Holy Shit” or YouTubers “Anders Amen” (Amen otherwise) are just three examples of web-based initiatives supported by the regional churches
These types of accounts produce accessible but at the same time meaty posts
there’s an endless variety of religious influencers representing all confessions and none
Are they the missionaries of the digital world
but it’s fair to say that certain groups use the internet as a way of spreading their own religious message
“We’re not talking about narrow-minded crusaders,” explains Schlag
“Influencers tend to talk authentically about their faith and what is important to them
Some of them have a considerable number of followers.” A sub-project of the URPP will look specifically at these types of influencers
The big question lurking in the background is one of authority
interpretative authority is changing: there’s no copyright any more
Religious communities’ supervisory bodies can no longer effectively intervene if someone veers off course,” explains Schlag
religious intolerance and discriminatory or defamatory views can therefore spread more or less unchecked
In another research project together with colleagues from the fields of computational linguistics and law
Schlag is trying to find out more about the phenomenon of hate speech. “I would like to see criteria developed that could help politicians and internet companies legally tackle hate speech and religious radicalization in the future,” says Schlag
Although he and his team at the URPP Digital Religion(s) are just starting out on their mission
the major theological questions thrown up by the digital revolution are already pressing him to seek answers
One AI software program developed in Silicon Valley is already challenging our ideas about eternal life
It offers the possibility of creating your own avatar that would live on after your physical death – and continue to develop autonomously
But what becomes of the Christian concept of the afterlife if our avatars outlive us
Schlag recently debated these issues with his adult sons
The youngest pointed out a real problem with the technology: “If no one knows you any more after three or maybe four generations
While enjoying the historic location of his office
Thomas Schlag is clearly not a man who ignores progress
He is preparing himself for the theological questions of the future with a level-headed
intellectually rigorous examination of the issues – not quite under a tree in the parsonage garden
but nevertheless with the view of the acacia tree and the bustle of Grossmünsterplatz to inspire him on one side
and on the other the calm of the cloister with its central fountain to remind him of tradition

Locations searched include the barracks of Germany’s special forces unit KSK in the town of Calw
News | World
Twenty-five people have been arrested in dawn raids across Germany on suspicion of organising a far-right plot to overthrow the government.
Reports in Germany say the group, made up of far-right and ex-military figures planned to storm the parliament building, the Reichstag, and seize power.
Prosecutors say a German man, referred as a prince called Heinrich XIII, 71, was central to the group’s plans.
Federal prosecutors said some 3,000 officers conducted searches at 130 sites in 11 of Germany's 16 states against adherents of the so-called Reich Citizens movement. Some members of the grouping reject Germany's postwar constitution and have called for the overthrow of the government.
Prosecutors said 22 German citizens were detained on suspicion of "membership in a terrorist organization." Three other people, including a Russian citizen, are suspected of supporting the organization, they said.
Weekly Der Spiegel reported that locations searched include the barracks of Germany's special forces unit KSK in the southwestern town of Calw. The unit has in the past been scrutinized over alleged far-right involvement by some soldiers.
Federal prosecutors declined to confirm or deny that the barracks was searched.
Along with detentions in Germany, prosecutors said that one person was detained in the Austrian town of Kitzbuehel and another in the Italian city of Perugia.
Prosecutors said the suspected ringleaders, identified only as Heinrich XIII P. R. and Rüdiger v. P., are accused of last year founding a "terrorist organization with the goal of overturning the existing state order in Germany and replace it with their own form of state, which was already in the course of being founded."
The suspects were aware that their aim could only be achieved by military means and with force, prosecutors said.
They are alleged to have believed in a "conglomerate of conspiracy theories consisting of narratives from the so-called Reich Citizens as well as QAnon ideology," according to a statement by prosecutors.
