A mammoth event in Crimmitschau is just around the corner
With a spectacular Superenduro race on Saturday ahead of the Sunday main event
sweet spring weather greeted a strong line-up of riders for the long awaited first race of the HESG season on what was probably the most difficult track in the history of the series
Just in time for the start of the Heaven or Hell Superenduro
the wind had cleared from the area for a “side show” Superenduro planned for the Saturday night
The best 12 riders entered the final over six minutes + 1 lap via preliminary races
Milan Schmüser was unlucky and got stuck at the first tyre obstacle at the start
He fought his way up to third place with a crazy race but out front
Leon Hentschel circled lonely in front of Marc Wulf

Sunday morning dawned with riders facing the prologue qualification runs and the organisers facing a record number of participants at the start of a HESG prologue
It caused organisers to tighten the schedule up and fit every rider in over a 60-minute period – it was a remarkable effort and no participant was hindered by traffic jams thanks to the staff
Leon Hentschel set the best time and took the first victory of the day
For the first time in HESG history there was a Women’s race
The ladies were classified in Group Race 2 and duked it out in the 90-minute race ahead of the main senior race
Maria Franke had already laid the foundation for victory in the Prolog Award and the former Enduro Women World Champion pulled away as the race progressed and was able to win ahead of Eva Täuber and Samantha Buhmann
The HET Reinsdorf club announced before the event that the course would become much more demanding in the final
This was evident immediately after the start with many new sections testing riders
Kevin Gallas took his chance at the beginning to take the lead
the first ever champion of the Hard Enduro Series Germany pulled a small gap and was able to use this advantage in front of the reigning champion Leon Hentschel
who came dangerously close to stealing P2 by the finish
Chris Gundermann was also a positive surprise at this opening round
the former MX rider from Thuringia finished in fourth place
Milan Schmüser is the first winner of the Auto Center Erzgebirge Junior classification
He wasn’t satisfied with fifth place in the championship standings
having lost too much time in the first lap and a gap too big to close down
Rene Dietrich was a new winner in the Seniors' category
The “middle-aged man” (their words not ours!) beat the former champion Dirk Peter with the reigning champion
still a relatively unknown pilot who finished 27th
who had a mammoth programme; he came directly from Serbia and the Xross Hard Enduro World Championship round
The next round of the DOWATEK HardEnduroSeries Germany
will take place in next weekend Saturday May 28

Chris Stewart to join Czech teamUSATODAYWayne Simmonds and Chris Stewart are moving from Germany's second division to the top league in the Czech Republic
The locked-out NHL friends had been on a 30-day contract with the Crimmitschau Ice Pirates and it was expiring soon
They will leave on Monday and will play for Liberec
which is second to last in the Czech league
"Wayne and Chris wanted to stay together and Liberec was one of a handful of elite league teams that could add two players," said their agent
Simmonds, who had a breakthrough 2011-12 season with the Philadelphia Flyers, led the Ice Pirates with 14 points in nine games. He also had a team-high 35 penalty minutes and his fight with Fischtown's Ralf Rinke has been viewed nearly 70,000 times on YouTube
Louis Blues' Stewart was tied for the team lead with five goals and was third with 11 points
The fans were one of the best they ever played in front of and the coach and management treated them first class," King said
Liberec is led by former NHL player Petr Nedved
Edmonton Oilers defenseman Ladislav Smid and Winnipeg Jets goalie Ondrej Pavelec also play there
the opportunity Liberec presented was one that we felt we needed to explore," King said
the German Hard Enduro series has been hampered more than most national series due to the pandemic and effects on social gatherings in Germany
With freestyler Kai Haase and several other international participants
the series started its third season strongly in the dramatic Crimmitschau quarry
The ‘Endurides Prolog’ starts the weekend and settles the start order with three-minute loop
Tim Apolle led the classification for a long time but as the riders who started later had a better track
Max Faude and then Marc Wulf mixed up the results
If the focus of the entire 60 minutes main race was the battle between Leon Hentschel and Tim Apolle then one hillclimb proved to be the feature of the course
Both riders had previously won their respective group races and went into the race side-by-side
Czech riders Vaclav Nedved and Ulli Gramersberger were also in the mix causing a few surprises as nobody expected these two riders to keep up the pace at the front
When the organisers opened up a difficult slope in lap two
Hentschel made the decisive maneuver and to overtake Apolle who struggled just enough to reach the summit
Apolle tried to close the gap but Hentschel held on to take the flag and round one win
Leon Hentschel had positive words at the finish: “My start was mixed
so I was able to catch up with him and overtake him
I'm really happy about the victory.”
who scored his first podium in Germany with a solid performance
Timo Jungmann was the first winner of the 2021 senior class
The rider from Hessen beat Przemek Kaczmarczyk from Poland in the daily classification but in the overall standings
as he became the second best series rider behind Jungmann
Milan Schmüser was unlucky in the junior class
as he collided with other riders at the start and started as last
he was able to get back to the front again in Crimmitschau and on the last lap
overtook Paul-Erik Huster to clinch victory
The first round of the German season was the first running of HESG-E
a new class for the series (and in Europe) with electric bikes in extreme enduro
The HESG-E race was part of the prologue and then also competed in the second group race
The Alta rider is now the first leader in this class
the Baur Gruppe team took the opening round win

Forward Mathieu Lemay is the latest addition to Nottingham Panthers' rosters for the new season
The 28-year-old joins the Panthers after three seasons in the DEL2 with Eispiraten Crimmitschau where he scored 61 goals and 82 assists for 143 points in 126 matches
assists (37) and points (68) before following-up with two more free-scoring campaigns
the winger hit 85 points while at Sterzing/Vipiten in the Alps League in his first European stop
"Mathieu is a dynamic player that has a great scoring ability
He is a player that we feel will adjust well to the league with his speed
work ethic and shot," explained Head Coach Joanthan Paredes
"His separation from defenders is very impressive and he's a player that fits perfectly with our philosophy."
Braehead Clan have confirmed the signing of netminder Ryan Nie who joins from German DEL2 side Eispiraten Crimmitschau
Braehead Clan have confirmed the signing of netminder Ryan Nie from German DEL2 side Eispiraten Crimmitschau
The 32-year-old played under new Clan coach John Tripp during his time in Germany and he says he sought out the views of two men very familiar with the Elite League in recent times as he weighed up his move to Glasgow
“I’ve heard nothing but good things about Braehead Clan and I actually played with Scott Pitt and against Matt Beca
who I reached out to and asked questions to,” said Nie
“They spoke positively about their time at the club
I was told it’s a winning organisation and they expect to continue that into next year
“It’s a small world and my parent’s neighbour was originally from Glasgow and I was talking to him about it so it seems like a great city and I’m excited for the move
“I’m really excited for the new campaign and excited for the change
My wife studied abroad a few years ago and visited Scotland and she’s looking forward to going back too.”
Nie has spent the last three and a half years at Crimmitschau
He played over 175 games for the German side in his time there
who has persuaded him to make the move to Scotland
He said: “Ryan’s been one of the top goalies in the German second league for a while now with Crimmitschau
He hasn’t had a lot of success and now he’s keen to turn the page
“I like his character and I’m glad to have him on board
He’s a good family man and he’s played a lot of games and can take 50 shots a game
“If you ask anyone about him in that league
they would say he kept the team in it a lot in recent years and I expect him to take on a change of mindset and a winning one
Ryan’s well tested and I don’t want him to take 50 shots a night
although it’s going slower than I intended
but there are still so many names out there
We’re cracking away at it and there’s no rush.”

For the Elite League’s top-four regular-season teams
The Belfast Giants held their nerve on a weekend of high drama to claim..
We’re into the final two weeks of the Elite League season – and the..
The Elite League remains as unpredictable as ever
With bright sunshine and temperatures above 20 degrees
made two action-packed race days last weekend
There was much praise from the riders for the challenging track and “a perfect race weekend”
The ACE Bikes Prolog Award took place in Crimmitschau on Saturday evening
Over 170 participants faced the rocky prologue enduro test
one of the youngest riders in the entry list
put on a remarkable ride to top the times in 05:34.844 minutes
three seconds faster than Sonny Goggia who crashed just before the finish line
A post shared by Peter Schlüter (@hardenduroworld)
The group races were a challenge for everyone
with temperatures over 20 degrees and the HET Reinsdorf organising crew integrating some difficult sections
allowing the hard enduro specialists to prepare for the even tougher final without being too hard for the hobby riders
Sonny Goggia and Felix Bähker came out on top but were outshone by Linus Albert delivering a brilliant performance with his 85cc machine
qualifying for the main race despite the obvious disadvantage on the small bike
The finale started at 3:15 PM over a distance of 1 hour and 20 minutes plus 1 lap
as many sections had never been ridden before
and no one knew how it would develop and in fact some sections had to be removed from the track during the race
Felix Bähker had a stroke of bad luck in the first lap; he injured his hand again
Goggia meanwhile took the lead from the start with Hentschel able to keep up early in the race but
Goggia pulled away – even without drinking after his hydration pack burst at the beginning
Since he crossed the finish line four minutes before the end of the race duration of 1 hour and 20 minutes
he had a lead of six minutes over Leon Hentschel
he had words of praise for the track: “At the beginning
I made some mistakes because the track wasn’t easy
It was also good training for the first World Championship races.” Said Goggia
Hentschel was also satisfied with his race
He always stayed in second place and had a larger gap to his pursuers
which now also brought him to second place in the standings: “The track was really fun
I'm super happy with my performance.”
Lenny Geretzky secured his first podium finish of the season
the Crimmitschau track much more to his liking: “It was a really beautiful hard enduro track
Geretzky also clinched the first daily victory of the season in the junior category
The other class victories went to Goggia (PRO)
The challenge for British rider Charlie Frost was to struggle through the pack after a rule violation on Saturday before the event and consequently relegation to the back of the field
But an impressive display on the Beta saw him advance from last place to fourth
Starting six minutes after the first rider
he battled through all the traffic jams and secured important points for the championship
The series organisation also drew a decidedly positive conclusion
Series manager Denis Günther said: “The collaboration with HET Reinsdorf worked perfectly this year
The dam sections from previous years were also perfectly adjusted
resulting in a truly spectacular race weekend
we have once again reached a new level of support from both drivers and fans
The next HESG race takes place on May 25 in Hamma, Thuringia. Entries are open. More information: www.hardenduro-germany.de

Nottingham strengthen roster with Canadian forward (Photo: Sportbuzzer.de)
Nottingham Panthers have completed the signing of Canadian forward Julian Talbot
The 34-year-old joins the Panthers from Crimmitschau in the DEL2
where he has seven points in as many games
and went on to spend six seasons with Eisbären Berlin where he totalled over 300 games and 200 points in the DEL
A season in the EBEL with the KAC returned 21 points in 59 games
before spending last season in Crimmitschau and scoring 54 points
Talbot has significant European experience
with 27 Champions Hockey League games over his spells in the Austrian and German top flights
The development of Trützschler over the course of 125 years and four generations has been a tremendous success
The most important factors for this have been
and still are its high innovative strength
and the flexibility of a family-owned company
Trützschler stands for technological leadership and occupies a top position concerning economic efficiency and reliability of the machines and systems provided
the Trützschler Group now has approximately 3,000 employees worldwide at nine production sites
Paul Heinrich Trützschler registered a forge and metal working shop in Crimmitschau
Right from the start the business focused on service for textile companies
Though initially the emphasis was on repairs
it was only a matter of a few years before the first machines were manufactured in-house
Tearing machines and cotton cleaning machines were the first main products
was the most popular product of that period
developed the company into a successful industrial enterprise during the 1920s and 1930s
Trützschler machines were shipped worldwide
The Second World War did not pass without leaving its mark on the company
an attempt was made to rebuild the company
Crimmitschau was located in the Soviet occupation zone
The concept of the occupying force did not allow for a family business
and the brothers Karl and Willy were detained
made a new beginning in Rheydt/Mönchengladbach
This new foundation quickly turned into a company with international standing again
Trützschler started its international expansion already at the end of the 1960s by establishing a production facility in Charlotte
production facilities were established at Curitiba in Brazil and at Ahmedabad in India
Founding these companies in the large markets
was an outstanding corporate accomplishment
The milestones in the development of the company are pneumatic card feeding in 1963
addition of the draw frame to the product range in 1992
as well as start-up of the in-house construction of electronic controls at the end of the 1970s
initially a technology co-operation was formed with a local partner in 1993
a company-owned production facility was established in Shanghai
This step was crucial for Trützschler’s success in the Chinese spinning preparation machine market
even in the face of fierce local competition
In a joint development with Toyota Industries Corp.
the product range for spinning preparation installations was expanded by the comber
the comber was presented for the first time
Michael Schürenkrämer and Heinrich Trützschler
three new business divisions were established during the past 10 years
The founding of Trützschler Card Clothing in 2003 was based on an acquisition of the clothing specialist Hollingsworth
Trützschler Nonwovens emerged from the former companies
The segments of Fleissner (machines for the production of man-made fibers) and SwissTex AG (machines for industrial and carpet yarns) make up the fourth business division
