We take RaceRoom’s new classic DTM content for a spin Diepholz and Hockenheim Klassik in the new Opel Calibra V6 4×4 and Alfa Romeo 155 2.5 V6 TI It had all gone a little bit quiet on the RaceRoom front. The sim had promised quarterly content drops in April 2023 but their regularity became infrequent despite new Porsche With improved force feedback implemented in the meantime RaceRoom dropped hints on a forthcoming graphics overhaul KW Studios will release two classic DTM cars – the Opel Calibra V6 4×4 and Alfa Romeo 155 2.5 V6 TI – to sit alongside RaceRoom’s incumbent AMG-Mercedes C-Klasse DTM in a new ‘DTM 1995’ class and the ‘90s version of Hockenheim also make their RaceRoom bow providing rose-tinted memories of German touring car racing in its pomp.  the Traxion were delighted to be given early access to all this lovely Germanic touring car content: check out our thoughts below The new DTM 1995 car class in RaceRoom has been designed with ‘90s DTM fanboys in mind the AMG-Mercedes C-Klasse can finally go toe-to-toe with its Opel Calibra and Alfa Romeo 155 sparring partners in RaceRoom and it can even do it on period-correct tracks like Avus and Diepholz.  What’s even more remarkable is that both these tracks have long since disappeared from real-world racing calendars and haven’t appeared officially in any other sim platform But the real charm of the new ‘95 DTM cars is in how they drive.  One of RaceRoom’s strong points has always been its audio design and the Opel and Alfa Romeo’s in-cockpit exhaust notes hit you with all the subtly of a brick to the face Their screaming V6 motors overwhelm your senses but rightly announce the brutality of the car you’re about to manhandle around the insanely challenging Avus and Diepholz circuits Avus was a street circuit that opened in 1921 originally featuring a much longer layout compared to RaceRoom’s 1995-spec 2.660 km example It’s essentially two long straights separated by hairpin bends of differing radii punctuated by the kind of chicane devised by the devil but those pesky kerbs are key to lap times and so satisfying to master and you’ll end up in this Avus highlights reel with the latter version featuring an additional chicane just before the final corner was a largely featureless circuit that operated between 1968 and 1998 It’s been replicated well in RaceRoom – judging from classic YouTube DTM clips – with hard-to-judge You need to attack these aggressively for best results with some traction control tweaks required to prevent complete power shut-off Both the Opel and Alfa feature permanent all-wheel-drive You can take huge liberties under brakes especially as you have the added comfort of factory-spec traction control.  then hit the loud pedal half a second quicker than you think you can: that’s the recipe for success when driving these ‘90s beasts In our testing we found the TC to be quite inhibitive but setting the ‘TC Slip’ sliders to 0% prevented the power from being cut off completely This allows the total traction of both cars to drag their 1,000 kg mass around corners with slight tweaks to the differentials (increase the ‘power’ percentage to help with exit grip) The ‘old’ Hockenheim many Formula 1 fans remember from the ‘90s has also been added to RaceRoom and it features two layouts: one with iconic long forested straights and another much shorter version that’ll likely be more familiar to today’s motorsport fans Kerbs again play a huge part in the charm and challenge of this track with Turn 1 being a tricky customer whichever layout you pick features the wonderful Bremskurve 1 chicane where monstering the kerbs elicits thrills the likes you can only get in a firmly-planted car like the DTM’s class of ‘95 RaceRoom is on to a winner with its DTM 1995 content The tracks are true-to-life and characterful but the cars are simply sensational to drive featuring a forgiving handling balance with enough playfulness (after set-up tweaks) to satisfy more experienced sim racers with the DTM 1995 class providing some stern AI opposition with the sim’s recent graphics updates providing an extra slice of eye candy RaceRoom still doesn’t look as pretty as the likes of Assetto Corsa Competizione or Le Mans Ultimate but it’s so well-refined now that everything just works The Opel Calibra V6 4×4 and Alfa Romeo 155 2.5 V6 TI DTM cars will be available as a pair for €10.99 with each of the three classic ‘90s DTM tracks available for €6,99 each with all content set to release on the 4th of September.  A further DTM 2024 Car Pack, including the new McLaren 720S GT3 Evo and Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 cars plus the full 2024 DTM field is set to be released at some point in the near future What do you make of RaceRoom’s new 1995 DTM German boy in his grandmother's attic is authentic The mummy was sent out for analysis not long after the 10-year-old boy found it in the Lower Saxony town of Diepholz in August While some experts dismissed it as a fake immediately one insisted that the remains could be some 2,000 years old It was then examined by the district of Verden's public prosecutor's office This closer look has revealed that while it has an authentic skull "The mummy was unwrapped and it was clear relatively quickly that its contents are not ancient," Lutz Gaebel "It appears to be a medically prepared specimen for educational use," Gaebel said An arrowhead through one of the eye sockets that was revealed during the initial radiological analysis turned out to be a plastic child's toy The skull will undergo further examination according to the public prosecutor's office The confusion over the mummy's authenticity appears to have come from the fact that the plastic skeleton was sprayed with an unidentified substance making it difficult to determine what it was made of The public prosecutor's office itself had initially said that it believed the mummy could be some 2,000 years old It remains uncertain just how the odd discovery came to be housed in the Diepholz attic has speculated that his grandfather may have brought it home from his travels in northern African in the 1950s According to speculation by the regional daily Kreiszeitung the mummy could have been a fake made to swindle tourists looking for antiquities in northern Africa dentist Lutz-Wolfgang Kettler and his 10-year-old son made a startling discovery in the family attic: a sarcophagus containing a mummy An examination conducted by forensic experts has shown that only the skull is real and that the mummy's skeleton is made of plastic and that the bandages were industrially produced find that the object contained traces of human remains An x-ray of the mummy showed that all of the bones were encased in a substance containing metal There was also what looked like an arrow embedded in the mummy's eye socket which has now turned out to be a child's toy the skeleton's hip bones were badly damaged Experts have concluded that the only part of the discovery made of real human remains is the skull The ribcage and pelvis have been shown to be made of plastic It’s now 40 years since Porsche’s 962 Group C race car made its competitive debut with 77 examples of the all-conquering prototype raced worldwide by a who’s who of drivers But one man drove more 962s more miles than anyone else: Hans-Joachim Stuck Stuck is also celebrating 40 years since he signed as a Porsche factory driver yet he might never have driven for the German marque at all had he not “taken all my heart and called Professor [Helmuth] Bott at Porsche motorsport.” Because Porsche had The 962 evolved from the 956 and Stuck’s Porsche connection began when he drove a customer 956 for Brun Motorsport at the 1984 Imola 1000km He was paired with factory driver Stefan Bellof and you can 100 per cent concentrate on driving with no worry about engine or gearbox failure or anything falling off,” Stuck says and the immense downforce sucking the car to the ground made it unique to drive.” the driving technique didn’t come easily to him “Stefan taught me how to brake into a corner It was completely new to me and I had to change my driving style entirely,” he recalls “But if you forced yourself to go beyond what you thought was the limit and got in your brain what was possible with corner speeds you couldn’t normally achieve.” and when Bellof decided to wind back his sports car racing commitments for a complete F1 season with Tyrrell in 1984 He nervously picked up the phone to Porsche “When I called Professor Bott at the end of 1984 ‘We thought about you already and assumed you had a lifetime contract with BMW’ Stuck had spent much of the 1970s and early ’80s in BMW tin tops and BMW-powered formula cars so it would be easy to make the assumption “But then he immediately invited me to Stuttgart Within half an hour I was a factory driver!” For 1985 The 956 had debuted in 1982 with Porsche’s first aluminium monocoque and was campaigned extensively in European sports car events But IMSA racing in the US mandated a longer wheelbase that put the driver’s feet behind the front axle and an engine based more closely on a road-going specification Hence the 962 has an extra 145mm between the front and rear axles and a fully air-cooled, single-turbo engine, rather than the twin-turbocharged and water-cooled four-valve unit of the 956, which wouldn’t appear in the road-going 959 until 1986 Based 125 miles away from Weissach in Garmisch-Partenkirchen Stuck was closest of all factory drivers to Porsche’s test track and he was contracted for testing and development duties alongside his racing commitments and Supercup alongside the World Sportscar Championship those development miles racked up his seat-time it was engineer Roland Kussmaul who confirmed it was Stuck who had driven 962s more than anyone else so I was really happy about it,” Stuck says with a smile “I would even shake down every single customer car The thousands of kilometres I did were an important part of my life or four weeks between every drive and then have to adapt I was completely at one with the 962.” A key part of Stuck’s work involved testing the PDK dual-clutch gearbox after a new electro-hydraulic control system transformed it from the clunky and purely mechanical system previously tested on the 956 He liked it: “The first big advantage was keeping your hands on the wheel when you had all this downforce through fast corners and the third was a lot of gain in time because you don’t have to go off throttle to change gear Stuck thought there was room for improvement when it came to the 962’s handling He complained to engineer Norbert Singer about the amount of understeer that the 962’s spool differential had on corner entry even when balanced with its excellent traction on exit Singer agreed to a back-to-back test at the Nürburgring GP circuit to compare it with a mechanical locking differential Stuck will be forever linked with British driver Derek Bell and American Al Holbert Stuck was key in assembling the dream team “When I was in the office signing my contract with Professor Bott he asked who I wanted as my partner – Jacky [Ickx] He helped me in F2 during my first race at Hockenheim when he overtook me and signalled me to follow so I could learn “Derek was also taller than Jacky and Jochen so there was no problem with the seat [Stuck stands 6′ 4″ tall] There was no ego that one wanted to be faster than the other I didn’t have to worry he would do something stupid.” They won the 1985 World Sportscar Championship together but a third driver was required for Le Mans “It was my idea to get Al Holbert because I knew him from years in IMSA with BMW and stuff like this He was a leading guy on the 956 and 962 in the States The three scored back-to-back Le Mans wins in 1986 and 1987 The first year was essentially a battle between various 956 and 962s Jo Gartner’s death in the early hours overshadowed the race who’d won the Sebring 12 Hours with Gartner only a few months before “I was in the car when it happened,” Stuck recalls I asked [engineer] Peter Falk who crashed over the radio but when he called me in for a driver change an hour or so later he took me into pits and said ‘I’m very sorry “I couldn’t believe it and said I wouldn’t drive anymore Getting back in the car and driving past the place Jo died was I’d suggested to Peter that Jo should be a consideration for a works drive standing with a winner’s garland on the podium It was one of the three biggest races in the world alongside the Indy 500 and Monaco it was definitely one of the best moments in my life But good and bad are very close together in racing When I ask if he is ultimately glad that he got back in the car Stuck exhales for a long time: “Nobody asked me this before… When I knew the funeral was coming up in Vienna Jo was one of two people driving that died during my career that really hit me He was at my parents’ place in Garmisch the Wednesday before and then we drove together to Monza [where he was killed] In the car I switched it off like a machine and it never influenced me Stuck returned to Le Mans for 1987 with Bell and Holbert partly thanks to Stuck’s heroic four stints “We were chasing Jaguar and it started raining during my first stint I know where I can make up time’,” Stuck says ‘No problem!’ I caught the Jaguar and then did a fourth stint But during the race your adrenaline is so high you don’t even think about it.” it did so with a 20-lap lead over the next quickest competition (another 962) signing off the most successful prototype era in Porsche history Stuck enjoyed a successful driving career well into the 2000s but he never again achieved the same level of success as he had racing the 962 in Group C He’s all too aware Porsche defined not just his career I learnt to be respectful and it took me to another level professionally,” he reflects “And driving the 962 as a factory driver was the utmost moment in my career Porsche put together a car that was perfection for a driver.” And none of it might have happened had Stuck not made that phone call 40 years ago Reminds me of seeing him and Ronnie Peterson at Thruxton F2 Easter race and a young boy I had many opportunities to watch up close Mr Stucks magic I also witnessed him destroy the Coke #5 car during qualifying at Sebring Tire let go in right rear tearing off the entire quarter and decking I still have photos of him walking away in disgust and the remains tucked away in the double decker transport That period of sports car racing was the panicle Save my name and email in this browser for the next time I comment Photo Gallery: Mummy Found by Boy Contains Real Bones There was a lot of excitement when a boy in the state of Lower Saxony found a mummy in a sarcophagus in an attic last month But many thought that once the mummy was examined it has become clear that beneath the bandages lies a human skull with an arrowhead in one of its eye sockets in addition to plates decorated with hieroglyphics and bones wrapped in metal foil The scans raised more questions than answers According to local daily newspaper Kreiszeitung the mummy got a CT scan and X-rays last Thursday "Everyone thought it was a fake." This was partly because a Berlin archaeologist had determined the material used to wrap the 1.49-meter (4.9-foot) mummy dated back to the 20th century and was probably machine-made linen or cotton bandaging The scans showed that the carefully wrapped object contains a skull But all of the bones except for the skull are wrapped in a kind of metal foil In addition to the arrowhead in the eye socket the skull is also wrapped with a metal diadem There's no way this is a typical Egyptian mummy head of pathology at Munich's Bogenhausen Clinic "We're dealing with an imitation," he says A missing neck vertebrae points to the possibility that the bones could belong to more than one body and I believe the other bones are too," says Nerlich The mummy expert is baffled by the metal covering the skeleton "Someone went to a lot of trouble to wrap the bones in this covering," he says "Perhaps because they anticipated an X-Ray examination A mystery that persists is who prepared the remains And that is a question that may interest police On Tuesday the Kreiszeitung reported that authorities had confiscated the mummy which Kettler had been storing in his garage It will now be examined by forensic experts in Hamburg "If it turns out that the death occurred 3,000 years ago then we won't pursue the case any further," said Jann Scheerer spokesman for the Verden public prosecutor's office "But we will if the person responsible for the obviously violent death could still be alive." As the owner of bones of uncertain provenance Kettler has mixed feelings about the authorities getting involved "It's a somewhat uncomfortable situation," he admits The 53-year-old is mostly interested in how his father acquired the mummy One possibility is that the peculiar North African souvenir was a macabre hoax "My guess is that someone played a huge joke," says pathologist Nerlich "I am asking myself why the sarcophagus was stored in such a hidden place Many thought the mummy found by a boy in his grandmother's eastern German attic this August would turn out to be phony But scans show it contains real human bones though probably not those of an ancient Egyptian The mummy was discovered by a 10-year-old boy while exploring his grandmother's attic in Diepholz This X-ray shows a human skull paired with a skeleton mysteriously wrapped in metal foil A closer look at the skull reveals an arrowhead in the eye socket and a diadem wrapped around the brow This full-body X-ray shows a heavily damaged pelvis from which the gender of the deceased cannot be determined The lower jaw of the mummy is opened at a 90-degree angle and the teeth are free of crowns or fillings head of pathology at Munich's Bogenhausen Clinic and a mummy expert is baffled by the metal covering the skeleton thinks that his own father must have brought the mummy and other souvenirs back from his travels in North Africa in the 1950s None of the items found are believed to be authentic A Berlin archaeologist has already determined that the material used to wrap the 1.49-meter (4.9-foot) mummy dates back to the 20th century A retro DTM-themed update for RaceRoom is set to unleash the Opel Calibra V6 4×4 and Alfa Romeo 155 2.5 V6 TI on the Avus Fliegerhorst Diepholz and Hockenheim Klassik circuits KW Studios’ RaceRoom Racing Experience has announced that it will release two classic DTM cars alongside three ‘90s-era tracks The retro-themed content drop will include the Opel Calibra V6 4×4 and Alfa Romeo 155 2.5 V6 TI cars Fliegerhorst Diepholz and Hockenheim Klassik (two layouts) strengthening the free-to-play sim’s circuit roster The two new cars are set to join RaceRoom’s incumbent AMG-Mercedes C-Klasse DTM in a new ‘DTM 1995’ class in celebration of the category’s 40th anniversary RaceRoom will also undergo significant graphics updates with dynamic clouds and improved rendering quality set to enhance the sim’s visuals Free graphical updates for the Nordschleife Sepang and the Slovakiaring tracks will also take advantage of RaceRoom’s aesthetic upgrades Oschersleben has also been completely rebuilt using the latest laser-scan data and will therefore not be a free update with the older version of the track gradually phased out The two Classic DTM cars will be available for €10.99 Check out our thoughts on the DTM 1995 content in our hands-on article here Are you looking forward to taming these two fire-spitting DTM monsters from yesteryear You must be logged in to post a comment Er ist damit nun neuer hauptamtlicher Bürgermeister der Stadt Diepholz und mit 31 Jahren zugleich jüngster Bürgermeister einer Kreisstadt in Niedersachsen teilte die Stadtverwaltung mit.","url":"https://www.kreiszeitung.de/lokales/diepholz/diepholz-ort28581/florian-marr-offiziell-buergermeister-diepholz-9950779.html"};c&&a.navigator.canShare(d)&&(c.style.display="",c.addEventListener("click",b=>{b.preventDefault(),a.setTimeout(function(){a.navigator.share(d)},0)}))}})(window,document); Diepholz - Florian Marré hat am Mittwochnachmittag seine Wahl offiziell angenommen Der Gemeindewahlausschuss hatte in seiner Sitzung am Dienstag einstimmig das amtliche Wahlergebnis vom Sonntag festgestellt Gemeindewahlleiter Michael Klumpe informierte daraufhin Florian Marré schriftlich über den Beschluss und forderte ihn zugleich auf das Amt innerhalb der gesetzlichen Frist von sieben Tagen anzunehmen Der gebürtige Diepholzer Florian Marré übergab bereits gestern Nachmittag die schriftliche Annahmeerklärung im Rathaus fristgerecht dem Allgemeinen Vertreter der Stadt Diepholz im Beisein des stellvertretenden Bürgermeisters dieses Amt annehmen zu dürfen und mich so für unsere Stadt engagieren zu können“ so der frisch gewählte Bürgermeister Marré Die Vereidigung des neuen Bürgermeistes ist für die Ratssitzung heute Abend um 18 Uhr im Rathaus der Stadt Diepholz geplant Die Amtszeit Marrés dauert acht Jahre bis zum 31 Sie umfasst den Rest der Amtszeit des zu Ende März freiwillig ausgeschiedenen Bürgermeisters Dr Thomas Schulze und folgend die normale fünfjährige Bürgermeister-Amtsperiode – parallel zur Wahlperiode des Rates Dieser Inhalt"+t(a)+"kann aufgrund Ihrer Datenschutz-Einstellungen nicht geladen werden
