Peter Dinklage and Juliette Lewis star in a horse opera set in a snowbound world of bars
Here is a western starring Peter Dinklage
but forget hot sun-baked gullies and leather-skinned cowboys riding sweatily through rattlesnake country
snowbound wilderness interspersed with equally hard
snowbound little townships consisting mainly of bars and brothels
You can see the breath in the air and the blood on the snow
The plot is staple horse opera: a kidnapped maiden must be rescued by a motley group of good-ish guys with mixed motives
headed up by Dinklage playing a bounty hunter character offering a similar vein of dry
world-weary cynicism as his breakthrough role as Tyrion in Game of Thrones
He is joined by Gbenga Akinnagbe as his right hand man
as a naive young Christian whose sister has been kidnapped by ruffians
The ruffians are where the film really does something unusual, via a simple but intriguing gambit. In the book on which The Thicket is based, the main villain, a man, is called Cut Throat Bill. Here, Cut Throat Bill is played by Juliette Lewis
gender-blind casting; while the character is still called Cut Throat Bill
and assumed by those who haven’t met him to be a man
it is very clear that the character is perceived as female
You might read the character as genderfluid or trans
but existing in a world that didn’t have any vocabulary for this
and the film makes no attempt to retrofit modern ideas on to a historical setting
Be warned though, if you’re looking for a joy-filled queer-friendly narrative, this isn’t it. This is a western in the mode of The Proposition: grim characters dying grim deaths with a reasonable amount of downtime between kills
for those seeking the thrills and spills of an action-packed shoot ’em up
and acted with gusto and shot with real physical commitment to the wide open spaces and raw chill of the elements

Apr 21, 2025Peter Dinklage is best known for his fan-favorite performance on Game of Thrones as witty
complex antihero Tyrion Lannister—a role that earned him four Emmys
he appeared in a new musical movie adaption of the romantic classic Cyrano—and the script just happened to have been written by his wife
playwright and theater director Erica Schmidt
Although the very private Dinklage typically reveals little about his personal life and isn’t on social media
now that he and his wife have worked together on such a high-profile project
we’re getting more of a glimpse into this talented couple
Our most pressing question: How did she get him to sing onscreen
Let’s find out more about Peter Dinklage and his wife Erica Schmidt’s real-life love story
Related: Fans Are Fuming Over the 'House of the Dragon' Season 2 Finale
Yes, Dinklage married Schmidt in 2005. After a decade of marriage, he gushed about his wife in a 2015 interview with The Guardian
Unlike a lot of other people in our profession where film is the ultimate goal
It’s not entertainment; it’s art.” It’s clear he has great admiration
“She’s very inspiring,” he continued
“She’s definitely the artist of the family … I am just the TV actor who pays the bills.”
"And the rest of the world has to catch up."

Schmidt is an award-winning playwright and theater director whose credits include writing and directing the 2019 adaptation Mac Beth
she wrote and directed a musical stage adaptation of the 1897 French play Cyrano de Bergerac, the same source material for Dinklage's new star vehicle
which featured original songs by the band The National
Did Erica Schmidt write her Cyrano adaptation for Peter Dinklage?Dinklage says his wife might have “subconsciously” written her Cyrano part for him by eliminating Cyrano’s famously huge nose—although there’s no reference to Dinklage’s height in her play
“Erica removed [the nose] and I thought I had to play this part because now it’s about a guy who doesn’t know what to do in the face of love,” Dinklage said in his New York Times interview
“But I definitely think she wasn’t just replacing the nose with my size in terms of a physical difference of the character
It’s kind of what I do: Every time I approach a role
I’m not just approaching it as someone my size
I’m approaching it as a flesh-and-blood human being with many more complications to the character.”

“But by the time he’d read it
it was clear he was absolutely perfect for it
So much about Peter’s own character was so similar: the razor-sharp intellect
Dinklage told CBS News that he “begged” his wife for the role—in part because he wanted to sing on stage
you always wanna do something that—for me at least—that scares you … I just never had sung since I was a kid.”
How did Peter Dinklage meet Erica Schmidt? The couple's first meeting was just as theatrical as any musical production
“It was about 18 years ago now,” Peter told The New York Times
“We were all at a friend’s house and someone said
‘They’re walking the elephants through the Queens-Midtown Tunnel.’ The circus was in town and it was snowing
and they were walking the elephants through Manhattan
the night the elephants walked through Manhattan.” What a great story

Pride and Prejudice) saw Schmidt's play Cyrano
he decided to make a movie out of it and asked Schmidt to write the screenplay
Dinklage was a natural choice to act in the film alongside Bennett
even if his short stature challenges the notion of what a Hollywood leading man should look like
‘How does it feel to play a leading man?’” he told The New York Times
“That’s still part of the conversation because we’re still inundated by clichés
The domain of romantic leads has been beautiful white people for a hundred years now.”
Has Peter Dinklage worked with his wife before?Yes
Dinklage had previously been directed by Schmidt in a 2015 stage adaptation of the Russian play A Month in the Country
Dinklage admitted to The New York Times that another reason Schmidt might have subliminally had him in mind for Cyrano is “because we had worked together before and we’re partners in life.”
Where do Peter Dinklage and Erica Schmidt live?Despite their fame
the couple lives a fairly quiet life—sort of
“I live in New York and I have a little place in the woods where I tend my garden,” Dinklage told The Guardian
But Schmidt tells a slightly different story
“We lived in Chelsea [in Manhattan] for a while
a very big dog that had to be walked a lot
And this was probably season three of Thrones,” she told CBS News
“And he started walking down the street
and all of these people came—I don't know where they were coming from
Tyrion!' coming towards him.” Because of his short stature
“He can't put on his sunglasses and a hat and disappear,” she said
Does Peter Dinklage have kids?Dinklage and his wife have two children, a daughter born in 2011 and a son in 2017—Schmidt was pregnant at the opening of her 2017 play All the Fine Boys
the internet has his daughter’s name wrong
“Let me tell you right now: her name is not Zelig,” he said
“But it’s hilarious that that’s a fact in Wikipedia.” Although it appears Wikipedia has since been updated
“I don’t care!” he said
He hasn’t revealed the actual names of either of his kids‚ or even whether his second child is a son or daughter
is when people take pics of his children without asking
but when you’re walking down the street with your kid and people take your picture without asking …” he trailed off when talking to The New York Times
Dinklage admits he is a protective dad in general
“I am so protective of everything that society has to offer
Maybe one day she’ll watch Thrones,” he told The Guardian about his daughter
He did reveal the first film she saw in the theater—although he says she only lasted half an hour
“It was Miyazaki’s [Japanese animated film] My Neighbor Totoro … I think she was a little too young,” he said
“I think Dada was projecting on to her because I love Miyazaki so much
Who else has Peter Dinklage dated?Although we don’t know exactly who else he dated in his younger years
or if any of his previous girlfriends were famous
Dinklage has revealed a bit about his past love life
“I think there’s a Wuthering Heights quality to all love when you’re younger
Romeo and Juliet wasn’t written for 40-year-olds,” he told The New York Times
“I was guilty of always falling for someone where it wasn’t reciprocated
because keeping it at a distance is more romantic than bringing it up close
You fall for people you know aren’t going to return that
and you’re not interested in the people interested in you
That’s how my brain worked because I was a self-saboteur when I was young.”
Dinklage has been fortunate to find true love with Schmidt
“If anybody’s been lucky enough to experience love
but you can choose what to do with it,” he told The New York Times
he says there’s always a feeling of unworthiness in the face of love
they’re suddenly so important and so powerful that of course your go-to is
This is so much bigger than me.’”

recording in a sound booth apart from the rest of the cast
but it's such an honour to be part of something this universally loved and amazingly creative," Dinklage said before saying that he has a personal family connection to the show
"My daughter has seen the Broadway show five times
and her friends still want to go for every birthday party."
the story is so universal that he felt its impact even without performing with his co-stars
"'Wicked' resonates because everyone feels like an outsider at some point," he continued
"It's about defining your independence and strength within that feeling of isolation
Whether or not Peter Dinklage reprises his role in the second half of Jon M. Chu's "Wicked" story, "Wicked: For Good" (which underwent a title change after the first one came out) remains to be seen, though he is listed as a cast member (well, as a voice performer) on the film's IMDb page
we can reasonably assume that his role will be very limited based on the fact that
in "Wicked: Part One," Doctor Dillamond is taken into custody by evil Oz officials because he's a talking animal
As Doctor Dillamond explains to Elphaba earlier in the film
talking animals have been a part of the fabric of Oz for years
but the government is taking an increasingly bigoted approach to the non-human population and trying to suppress their ability to speak; in fact
many of Doctor Dillamond's animal friends tell him they're simply fleeing
When Doctor Dillamond is hauled out of a classroom at his workplace of Shiz University in front of all of his students
and it only confirms that she has to continue fighting for the animal population of Oz
If we see Doctor Dillamond in "Wicked: For Good," he might be a bit worse for wear; in the musical
Elphaba's reunion with him in Act 2 isn't particularly happy (I won't spoil it here)
Of course, you probably know Peter Dinklage from his career-defining (and Emmy-winning) role on "Game of Thrones" as Tyrion Lannister, a highborn and powerful man often referred to as "the Imp" who may just be one of the smartest characters on the entire show. (Well, he is until the show's later seasons when he develops a case of the stupids with everybody else
but that's a different tale for a different time.) Other than that
Dinklage has recently shown up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (as Eitri)
the Oscar winner "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing
Missouri," and the "Hunger Games" prequel "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes," which released in 2023
Even though Dinklage felt lonely while making "Wicked," he did say — in that same Cinema Express interview — that as an actor who's fought stereotypes and grown proud of his physical differences over the years
he feels personally inspired by "Wicked" nonetheless
"Elphaba's story of finding her strength resonates with me," Dinklage told the outlet
"I've taken ownership of my physical uniqueness as an actor
but now it's for the right reasons—because they've seen something they enjoyed
That's a strength that comes from owning who you are."
That's a really wonderful takeaway for Dinklage
we'll see Doctor Dillamond just a little bit in "Wicked: For Good." For now
you can stream "Game of Thrones" on Max if you want to watch Dinklage perform in person

Sarah Goldberg of Barry fame and Billy Magnussen — a B-movie type of actor who is awesome in everything he’s in — have joined the cast so far
Magnussen will play an “‘inventor of the future’ tech CEO,” while Goldberg will play his “performance psychologist” after a scandal erupts due to a data breach
Finally, Sean Bean has joined the cast of MGM+’s Robin Hood series as the Sheriff of Nottingham, which means he will not die in the first episode. Probably. Good for him. (Our Sean Bean death reel from 13 years ago is still up on YouTube! We miss you, Harry Hanrahan.) Bean will star opposite Jack Patten
Nottingham isn’t actually evil — he just believes in the rule of law

Director Macon Blair tells EW he wanted the vibe of the original film's design
"some influence" from the animated series
and "something new and weird and lovable."
the team behind the Troma-inspired remake is ready to show you what Dinklage looks like as The Toxic Avenger
Entertainment Weekly revealed the exclusive images and you can bask in their gooey glory below
“The goal was to try to stay true to the vibe of Lloyd [Kaufman’s] original Jennifer Aspinall/Mitch Cohen creature
with some influence from the Toxic Crusaders cartoon’s look
while also trying to do something new and weird and lovable with Toxie’s design,” Toxic Avenger director Macon Blair told EW
“I love what Millennium FX did with it—part human
The article also reveals a question I had since watching the film
which is: is that actually Dinklage under all the prosthetics
Actor Luisa Guerreiro is Toxie once he gets
the film follows a janitor named Winston (Dinklage)
He struggles to keep things afloat after his wife dies
leaving him with a stepson (Jacob Tremblay)
Winston is diagnosed with a terminal illness but denied coverage by his company
The Toxic Avenger is very aware of what it is and is trying to be
It’s gross and stupid but also funny and heartfelt
Even when Toxie is splattering people with his mop
you can still feel that he’s doing it for a reason—his stepson
You’ll finally be able to see for yourself August 29 when The Toxic Avenger opens in theaters

As a proud New Jersian, you know I just gotta love The Toxic Avenger, who was once labeled as “The first superhuman-hero…from New Jersey!” Because honestly, I'm on board for any superhero from my home state
being a huge fan of The Toxic Avenger and anything Troma-related
I thought now is as good a time as any to look back and reflect on the previous Toxic Avenger films before Macon Blair's newest entry gets a wide release
Because Toxie is not just another pretty face
The world of Tromaville is like a character in itself
The janitor in question becomes a crime-fighting hero who takes out drug dealers and pimps
because that’s just what deformed vigilantes do
one scene in the new trailer that takes place in a restaurant comes directly from this movie
as Toxie wipes the floor (not literally) with some thugs
the Mayor of Tromaville has ill intentions
and is actually the head of a huge crime ring in the city
He sends out his goons to take care of Toxie
as he’s the kind of “hero” who takes revenge on the people who transformed him
and there are a series of brutal kills (the one at the gym is particularly icky) that he does in gory fashion
but that’s its biggest strength (and something that I wish the sequels followed
The Toxic Avenger looks…let’s just say rough
Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz were able to create such an imaginative and filthy-looking world
and we fans of the series wouldn’t want it any other way
With a storyline that partly takes place in Japan (and anybody who knows me can attest that I love anything Godzilla or Japan-related)
the second film in the Toxic Avenger series should be a slam dunk for me
Following the events of the first film where Toxie cleaned up the scum in Tromaville
Toxie even now works at a hospital for the blind
they decide it’s perfect to set up shop there
and there’s a whole storyline that takes place in the land of the rising sun (Toxie even learns how to be a sumo wrestler!)
It all culminates in Toxie returning to Tromaville to save the day
even though it’s only roughly an hour and a half in runtime
being a Troma film from the late ‘80s
some of the humor might be a bit too offensive by modern day standards (I mean
this is the same studio that would later release Sgt
Filmed back-to-back with The Toxic Avenger Part II
The Toxic Avenger Part III: The Last Temptation of Toxie manages to be better than its predecessor
Toxie actually starts working for the evil Apocalypse Inc
since he really has nothing else to do as of late
His blind girlfriend can get surgery to see
and Toxie takes up an office job in order to secure the funds
The people are upset with Toxie since he pretty much sold out
but what they don’t realize is that he actually sold more than just his dignity…he’s pretty much sold his soul
as Toxie is challenged to a series of video games by the Devil himself
as the various levels are more ridiculous than the last
Toxie beats his “last temptation” and the film ends on a happy note
The video game subplot really makes this film stand out from all the other movies in the franchise
It certainly makes this film better than the last one
Bypassing the ‘90s completely and coming out in 2000
Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV is the last Toxic Avenger film before the remake
and it’s a fun one to go out on (Though
I still want to see Toxic Twins: The Toxic Avenger V
Pretty much wiping the last two Toxic Avenger movies out of existence with a voiceover (by Stan “the man” Lee
Citizen Toxie acts as a sequel to the first movie
given that it’s The Toxic Avenger FOUR
but he’s called the Noxious Offender
as that’s what a good Toxic Avenger does
This film is also interesting because it costars another Troma hero
who has his own evil twin called Evil Kabukiman
a whole lot of jokes in poor taste (since this is a Troma film
Citizen Toxie was disregarding sequels even before it was cool with 2018’s Halloween
since this movie does feel like a fitting follow-up to the first film
join me in celebrating that only a few more months have yet to pass until we finally see that fifth installment in the franchise

Jan 1, 2025Peter Dinklage made a killing on Game of Thrones
eventually becoming one of the highest paid actors on television for his portrayal of Tyrion Lannister on the hit HBO series
But his net worth hasn’t always been the stuff of fantasy
he remembers living in a New York City apartment that barely had heat (but did have at least one rat)
“I would not be able to live in those environments now and I am glad my comfort level is higher, but that is part of being young,” Dinklage said in a 2015 interview with The Talks
“For me it was part of this struggle
And it made you fight harder to get better.”

in an independent meta-film called Living in Oblivion directed by Steve Buscemi
the movie starred Dinklage as a frustrated actor who's tired of getting clichéd parts
the role reflected his own real-life struggles as an actor with dwarfism (he stands at 4’5” inches)
The Baxter) and direct-to-video productions (TipToes)
he took on a role in the second installment of the big-screen adaptation of C.S
Lewis’s The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (2008)
a project that helped raise his profile in Hollywood.
Three years later, Dinklage made his debut on HBO’s Game of Thrones as the lusty, wine-drinking and underachieving sibling of the powerful Lannister family. He was perfect in the role and instantly became a fan favorite

How much did Peter Dinklage get paid for Game of Thrones? According to The Hollywood Reporter
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) and Dinklage
banded together and negotiated $1.2 million per episode for the final season of the show
that would mean Dinklage's salary for that season alone was $7.2 million
the top-billed cast was reportedly earning about $500,000 to $600,000 per episode
which would mean Dinklage raked in anywhere from $3.5 million to $4.2 million for that season's work.
Dinklage’s salary for the Will Ferrell-led comedy hasn’t been released publicly. Given that he had a rather small role (one scene where he attacks Ferrell’s Buddy the Elf for mistaking his dwarfism for him being a fellow elf)

I threw it on after the game and was shocked Brothers was barely being talked about
A movie from Etan Cohen, the same mastermind behind Tropic Thunder and Idiocracy
is sitting on streaming for the world to discover
I love it so much that I feel obligated to spread the word to other comedy fans who have no idea it even exists so we can get everyone on board with this movie featuring two brothers trying to change their lives with some long-lost jewels
It's easy to forget all their past dramatic roles watching Brothers
as both men alternate between the goofy and straight man throughout
politely but firmly rejecting oral sex from a geriatric cellmate before linking up with his brother Moke
Brolin also plays his part perfectly as the slightly dim brother trying to hide his felonious past from his new family
What makes the performance so great is that it isn't hard at any point in the movie to believe these two are brothers
Brothers hinges heavily on a sibling vibe between them
Jady is the troublemaker who follows in his mother's footsteps with elaborate plans and get-rich-quick schemes
and Moke goes along mainly out of love for his family while still trying to make an honest name for himself
The chemistry these two have is siblings is what will hook you on this movie
but there's still a lot to love about it beyond just their performances
Josh Brolin and Peter Dinklage do a lot of heavy lifting in this movie, but it needs to be said they're also backed up by a stellar supporting cast. You have Glenn Close playing their sketchy mother
who is central to this big jewel heist comedy
Her performance falls somewhere between her characters in 101 Dalmatians and Hillbilly Elegy
is back to doing what he does in the comedy world
Watching Brothers reminded me of how hilarious Fraser is when he's playing a character who is screaming and almost manic the entire time
He's behind some of the funniest moments in this movie
and I don't think anyone else could play his Officer Farful
which I think is a full star above our official review
but believe me when I say that for as much as I love that movie
Brothers tops it in just about every way imaginable
That's not to say Ricky Stanicky is a bad movie
I just think that Brothers is the best comedy we'll see in 2024
Given there's not much time left in the year
I feel pretty safe in assuming no other upcoming comedy still yet to be released is going to blow me away
The only thing disappointing to me is that Brothers didn't get a theatrical release because damn
I think this movie was good enough to have a solid run in theaters
I'm hoping that as more people see it and word of mouth spreads
this movie garners some sort of cult following on streaming
I don't think there's going to be a sequel to this movie
it'll start to get more eyes on it as we close out the rest of the year
watching Brothers is just as easy as firing up that Prime Video subscription
and make sure you don't accidentally mistake it for the Jake Gyllenhaal and Tobey Maguire movie that is absolutely not a comedy
I cannot stress enough how different those two movies are
but he also regularly reports on happenings in the world of Star Trek
He graduated from the University of Southern Indiana with a degree in Journalism and a minor in Radio and Television
He's great at hosting panels and appearing on podcasts if given the chance as well

Peter Dinklage knows how to rock
Dinklage confirmed he still had a scar from when he was "kneed in the head" during a performance at the former New York City music club CBGB in the early 1990s
was ready to live the "starving artist" lifestyle
I'm not gonna do any silly commercials or any of that
in which I'm gonna throw up on the audience
And I'm gonna be in a punk band,'" he said
A new 'Game of Thrones' prequel is coming: 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' cast, release
"We were Beastie Boys rip-offs
It's a very visceral experience if you wanna see me live."
'House of the Dragon' Season 3 is coming: What we know so far
The anti-acting stance didn't take for the actor, who Evans noted is closing in on 100 credits. However, Dinklage said it took some time for him not to hold resentment toward the entertainment industry for its depiction of little people
"I just knew what the entertainment business was serving up people who are my size
"I surrounded myself with really brilliant people
And that's the beauty of what I do for a living
but he’s one of my favorite human beings,” Dinklage said of his costar

“Back in the day, I was like, ‘I’m not gonna be an actor. I’m not gonna do any silly commercials or any of that, I’m gonna do plays downtown for no money in which I’m gonna throw up on the audience and I’m gonna be in a punk band,’” Dinklage — who is currently promoting his latest film “Brothers” — said
“We were Beastie Boys rip-offs and yeah
It’s a very visceral experience if you wanna see me live.”
but he recalled feeling “too angry for a long time” when he immersed himself in the industry: “I just knew what the entertainment business was serving up people who are my size and that to me wasn’t acting
But I surrounded myself with really brilliant people
“I call it the tribe and we just carried that friendship and working environment sort of one in the same into the future together
I couldn’t do it alone and that’s the beauty of what I do for a living
So I was just lucky to find really great people who inspired me more so every day.”
Dinklage praised his GOT co-star Charles Dance
Dinklage recalled Dance approaching him in between takes and apologizing after a particularly tense or harsh scene.

“We wouldn’t hug it out ’cause of time
and it felt very paternal too,” Dinklage added
“He [Dance] played a horrible human being
but he’s one of my favorite human beings and it was a shame how that one ended
When asked what defines a great actor’s director
“You shouldn’t have to talk to an actor much if you hired them.”
“You saw something in them that you want for the part and that can lead to chaos and you need to make sure everybody knows your vision is very clear
We’ll spot a weakness in a director and go oh ok
I got this…all actors want to direct…and there has to be one captain to keep that vision clear…”
Dinklage persisted until the very end of his interview and conquered the infamous Wings of Death

Hardluck lecturer Dinklage stands to receive a mansion from rich widow Shirley MacLaine in underpowered comedy
This low-key oddity has the potential for some proper horsepower given the odd but intriguing casting of Peter Dinklage and Shirley MacLaine
but it never manages to build up much comic or dramatic speed – much like Dinklage’s electric scooter
like one of the half-sketched fantasies that Dinklage’s protagonist
such as imagining a pair of identical twins (Rebecca Olson) are his sister wives ready to minister to his every need
There’s a reason why it’s best not to know other people’s dreams
Phil’s other big desire is to own a proper home instead of the shabby condo he rents near the lesser-level Massachusetts college where he teaches cultural economics
One day Phil finds a deal that looks too good to be true
If he buys a granny flat inside the sprawling mansion occupied by eccentric widow Astrid (Shirley MacLaine on sparky form) as a live-in
he will inherit the full $5m spread when she dies
Advised to go for it his by his greasy friend/realtor Dell (Matt Dillon)
Phil scrapes together every bit of cash he can and moves in
There are a number of baffling strings attached
including hangers-on who may or may not be Astrid’s children; one of whom
so she’s naturally keeping a close eye on things
unable to resist that rumbling voice and languid charisma
The script is by Theodore Melfi, who wrote and directed the similarly languid St Vincent with Bill Murray, and an air of disappointed masculinity resonates in both films; they are easy to consume but don’t give back much, like the protagonists themselves.
American Dreamer is on digital platforms from 17 March.

Cineverse announced on Tuesday that it will release The Toxic Avenger later this year, in an unrated wide theatrical launch. The movie stars Game of Thrones’ Peter Dinklage as Winston Gooze
a lowly janitor who transforms into a mutant vigilante (known as “Toxie”) after a freak accident
taking on everyone from gangsters to corrupt CEOs
And he does it all while armed with his signature mop
The film, helmed by Blue Ruin star and I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore director Macon Blair, is a reboot of a 1984 cult classic. Per our reviewer Tasha Robinson, who saw it at Austin’s Fantastic Fest in 2023
and packed with goofy visual gags and fight scenes where the combatants get melted or mutated
sometimes exploding into wall-splattering showers of vivid
After locking in a 92% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes with a festival run in 2023
The Toxic Avenger failed to find a distributor
and it was starting to look like the film would never see the light of day
Cineverse, at least, is owning the “unmarketable” label that has been applied to The Toxic Avenger, gleefully sharing it as part of their announcement

Peter Dinklage spoke about his time filming Wicked and how he felt very isolated during the whole experience
Grab your tissues because you’re definitely about to cry reading this
you may not have even realised that Peter Dinklage was in fact a huge part in filming Wicked
who was facing oppression and discrimination under the Wizard’s orders
I had no idea he was the voice of the character
probably due to the fact that he hasn’t been doing any promo or involved with the press tour
which has heavily focused on Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo
His absence from the Wicked promo could be explained by his experience when making the film
He spoke about how it was “a bit of a lonely process,” that had him “recording in a sound booth apart from the rest of the cast.”
“But, it’s such an honour to be part of something this universally loved and amazingly creative. My daughter has seen the Broadway show five times, and her friends still want to go for every birthday party,” he told Cinema Express
Peter explained that Wicked resonates because “everyone feels like an outsider at some point,” including himself
“It’s about defining your independence and strength within that feeling of isolation
He added: “Elphaba’s story of finding her strength resonates with me
I’ve taken ownership of my physical uniqueness as an actor
but now it’s for the right reasons—because they’ve seen something they enjoyed
That’s a strength that comes from owning who you are.”
if Peter Dinklage was in my film cast we’d be out for drinks EVERY NIGHT
Did the producers not realise the icon standing before them?
